For all those lovely bumps incubating until last few days of Oct and all November, spilling possibly over to December for the super comfortable babies- come and chat, rant, vent, chant, glow, sweat, watch nails grow whilst doing antenatal pilates/yoga/sleeping/eating/navel gazing and over analyse to your hormones content!

Optional - FB group is up and bumping, PM me with email to be added.

Thank you. Grin If it doesn't ease in 24 hours may give them a call. Been pretty much consistent all day today. Thinking I may have slept funny too. Off home to put my feet up. Sitting at a desk all day really doesn't help. X

Unthoughtknown · 03/08/2015 19:27

I'm starting to get increasingly uncomfortable sitting at my desk in work. Not sure whether to get an exercise ball to bounce around on. Although dont think I'd get it through a risk assessment.

TakesTwoToTango · 03/08/2015 19:44

Kathryn, I get sharp pain in my sides quite a lot, especially when sneezing or moving suddenly. I think it's getting a bit better now at 25+1 but I'm sure it's just ligament pain.

TakesTwoToTango · 03/08/2015 19:47

Unthought, you may be surprised! They have to risk assess your work environment for your pregnancy and if your current set up is causing discomfort, they may be very open to a gym ball. At my work occupational health will actually supply them to pg women and others with back or pelvic pain if the standard desk/chair set up is exacerbating it Smile

NoMoreSashimi · 03/08/2015 20:56

I have one of these on my chair:

www.amazon.co.uk/Sissel-Sitfit-Plus-Seat-Cushion/dp/B000W8K4QK

It's very good, had it since before pregnancy and no more back or shoulder pain.

KathrynM1 · 04/08/2015 06:51

Thanks all. I've ordered one of those back rests so hopefully that will do the trick. 11 more Mondays at work. Grin Xxx

tootsroots · 04/08/2015 09:12

Despite working in the a large corporate city firm, not allowed a swiss ball in case people PLAY on it... erm... children in the office?! No idea why they say that!

Oh dear toots that made me chuckle. I now have images of an office full of people bouncing round on gym balls like they were space hoppers

Unthoughtknown · 07/08/2015 19:59

Does anyone have a gym ball? I want to get one but don't know what size to get. Would I have to buy a pump as well?

SnozzberryPie · 07/08/2015 20:41

I had two last pregnancy and the bloody cat popped them both! I won't bother this time. I think I used my airbed pump on them.

annatha · 08/08/2015 17:35

I got mine from Argos last time and I'm sure it came with a pump. It was really useful actually, I'll have to dig it out again soon.

takestwo I've done it twice last pregnancy and twice this one so far, I feel like I should have shares in lucozade! Its fine, basically you can't eat 12 hours before the test (so if the first appt is 9am you can't eat after 9pm) and this includes chewing gum and heartburn remedies. You can still drink water though. You're encouraged to eat normally leading up to it and I like to have a big carby meal the night before so it doesn't feel like I'm running on empty in the morning. You turn up, they do a blood test and then make you drink either a lot of lucozade (about 500ml I think) or a sugary solution that tastes like concentrated lemsip. Two hours later (you still can't eat in this time) they take more blood to see how your body has reacted to the glucose. Some places let you go home between tests but some make you stay so it's worth checking. In my area they ring you the next day if you have an abnormal result but if its fine they don't ring at all.

annatha · 11/08/2015 18:37

PS. If they do let you leave between tests try not to do any exercise as it can skew the test as well as making you feel dizzy because you haven't had anything to eat. In my first pg they let me go home so I walked back (about ten mins at a leisurely pace) and they had to redo it and made me stay in the hospital.

KathrynM1 · 11/08/2015 21:52

Hey. I did the test and failed. It's absolutely fine though. I got diagnosed at 14 weeks and since then I have to test my blood four times a day and then call them if I get high readings. So far only had a handful so they are happy that I can control with diet alone. Basically means no sweets, chocolate, fruit juices, cakes or white carbs. Can be tough at times but it's all worth it. Also means I've put hardly any weight on as I've been super healthy xxx

SnozzberryPie · 11/08/2015 21:59

Welcome mrsm.

Takestwo my sil had gestational diabetes. They advised her to change her diet in various ways (no sugary foods, no white carbs) but it didn't work for her and she had to take tablets. She was also induced at 39 weeks.

BowiesJumper · 12/08/2015 11:16

Is anyone thinking of going to bumpfest? I'm still undecided on NCT so SOME info/pointers may be useful!

TakesTwoToTango · 12/08/2015 14:34

Thanks Kathryn and snozzberry. I'm a bit apprehensive that damage may already have been done by this stage (27 weeks) and I may have had it all along as baby was already measuring large at the 12 and 20 week scans. Having now read the updated 2015 NICE guidelines, I would now be referred for testing in my last pg too (I wasn't and baby was born 9lbs 8oz, which given I started out at 8st 10lbs, was quite large!!). Worried about implications for both babies, and me long term Hmm Trying not to panic yet as have not had the three hr test yet but bracing myself for a problematic result...

SnozzberryPie · 12/08/2015 15:25

Takestwo I am sorry that you are worried. Whatever the result it is better to have a diagnosis as then your condition can be monitored and controlled and the chances of any more serious complications can be reduced

austengirl · 12/08/2015 18:07

BowiesJumper, I like the idea of Bumpfest, but I already have another commitment that day. If you're unsure about NCT are there any other classes offered by the NHS or SureStart nearby? A coworker's been going to sessions in a local children's centre and seems happy with them so far.

Had my anti-D injection and glucose blood test yesterday and got a sneaky listen to the heartbeat at an adjacent clinic. I'd been a wee bit concerned about lack of movements lately, but the midwife was reassuring and pronounced baby 'a happy little sausage' based on a very steady heartbeat. Smile

Unthoughtknown · 13/08/2015 08:06

Is anyone else : Ahem : really wet down there. I had a sudden gush this morning of either discharge or wee (I think the former ) Dr Google seem to point to it being normal, but there's always one or two ' go and get checked out' easier said than done the birth centre is miles from work.

Frescoed · 13/08/2015 09:16

Unthought I've had a couple of 'wet' experiences, but the difference between wee (caused by sneezing!) and discharge was fairly obvious. I guess the issue is amniotic leaks, which are supposed to smell different from other stuff - never before have I spent do much time sniffing my knickers! Might be worth a call to your midwife if you aren't sure.

LadyStark · 13/08/2015 09:58

TakesTwo I failed my full GTT, well, I got a borderline result and am off to the diabetes clinic tomorrow to learn how to collect blood and what the next steps are. There is a Gestational Diabetes support thread here which I have found helpful.

Try not to worry until you have the results of your full test.
