For all those lovely bumps incubating until last few days of Oct and all November, spilling possibly over to December for the super comfortable babies- come and chat, rant, vent, chant, glow, sweat, watch nails grow whilst doing antenatal pilates/yoga/sleeping/eating/navel gazing and over analyse to your hormones content!

Optional - FB group is up and bumping, PM me with email to be added.

Laura, i had a week or so after mega movement when not a lot happened then i get it more now again, i think i got used to the smaller twinges as well so didn't notice them as much.

Have you tried the cold water, lie on left hand side and talk about rubbish trick?

One of my friends is a midwife and teaches hypnobirthing courses, and says OBEM is no reflection of most births! Although in my first I was made to lie on my back, sob.

Feeling very sore now, back has been killing me for a few days and I'm having a proper waddle about.

DH was sayig oh this year's gone so fast, end of pregnancy will fly in. Laughed in his face!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 23/07/2015 21:14

I don't watch OBEM but I'll have to be connected to a lot of things and on or near the bed too if I VBAC. I should be able to move about a bit but will have a drip in for a start so doubt I'll be sprinting round the ward Smile

Had my first psychologist appointment today, it was really good. Well, not that going through birth trauma is good, but helpful rather. I'll be having an appointment every week until near the birth and it's an hour travel each way. Bit difficult with DS at home but needs doing.
If anyone goes through a traumatic birth (hopefully no one will) I'd advise getting help asap. Don't wait until you're pregnant again like I did!

doomclaw · 23/07/2015 21:25

Frescoed I have 64 working days left - not that I am counting or anything! I actually like my job but am excited about doing something different for a few months.

Frescoed · 23/07/2015 21:38

Me too doomclaw, it'll be really interesting to be doing something completely different!

Glad to hear it was a helpful session Abbey, really worth doing I'm sure despite the travel hassles.

truffles42 · 23/07/2015 21:43

Hi everyone, I've had the same thing with less movement over the past few days. Panicked myself after googling but I am currently being kicked so think I just have an evening wriggler. Still not much going on during the day. I wish the gaps between appointments weren't so huge - no more scans and another 3 weeks before my next MW appt. Plenty of time to worry about everything!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 23/07/2015 21:52

Thanks frescoed it's just going to be difficult to find someone to leave DS with for 3-4 hours every week for the next 8 weeks or more. Guess I'll have to start looking into nursery / childcare. Need to do that anyway really.

Hope everyone is doing well and welcome babs

Laura7010 · 23/07/2015 22:16

Starting to panic a bit now :-/ I'll try lying on my left thanks for the tip toots i won't be going to sleep till I feel some movement from this little one!

roughtyping · 23/07/2015 22:29

25 working days left for me!!! Grin

SnozzberryPie · 23/07/2015 22:39

Welcome babs!

Abbey I am on a waiting list for a birth debriefing, hopefully I will get an appointment before I give birth again. I mostly want to find out the practical details of what happened last time in case the same is likely to happen again.

I found lying on my back the most painful position in labour so I'd avoid it if possible. You have to lie on your back to be monitored and for internals but otherwise the midwives should let you choose your own position. At the end I tried lying on my back and pushing as DD wasn't coming out and I was happy to try anything the midwife suggested at that point!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 23/07/2015 22:49

I hope you get your appointment in time Snozzberry. I know all hospitals vary but they got me in the next week which I was quite amazed by, but I was quite upset in the VBAC appointment so maybe thats why? I think my notes from last time are never going to surface though, oh well. They should hopefully see you if they know you are pregnant again - fingers crossed
If I have continuous monitoring does that mean I'll be on the bed the whole time?

Unthoughtknown · 23/07/2015 22:50

Toots your last post made me laugh. I watched obem with dp and he was hating it, especially the age gap couple, very needy. The young couple were sweet though.

ch1134 · 24/07/2015 07:09

Haven't seen the new OBEM yet but I don't think it's so bad. When I was pregnant first time everyone told me it was unrealistic and they only show the high risk births. Now I know that a high proportion of first births require monitoring/ intervention. It wasn't realistic to lead me to believe I could have a water birth if I wanted it. I ended up in stirrups too.
Anyway, I posted recently about having an anterior placenta and the worry about back-to-back. Saw the midwife yesterday and she said there's no correlation. She also said that the transfer rate from midwife unit to hospital for 1st time births in my area is 40%, and for second births is 3%. Quite reassuring.

Unthoughtknown · 24/07/2015 08:00

See I was wondering about the statistic for move from MLU to hospital as ours are 15 miles away from each other. 40% is a lot so I think I need to ask more questions to the midwife. Our birthing centre is so nice though.

ch1134 · 24/07/2015 08:19

Ours was 20 miles and I was transferred. It was horrible, but actually, I'd still rather have started off in the MLU, as I was there for 12 hours and as you say, they are very nice!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 24/07/2015 10:41

I'd have loved the birth centre. Saying that though the hospital is getting more and more similar to one with pools, balls etc.

I was at home when things went wrong with DS and the ambulance took 45 minutes to get to me, despite being 10 minutes from the hospital. I was within the M25 though, in other areas of the country they might not be so understaffed. The paramedics did say I was near the top of the list but they were covering the whole of within M25 that night and had to come from quite far away. I'd say worth checking though just in case. Although in my case I had a low lying placenta so unlikely to happen or be so they me critical to those with normal low risk pregnancies.

SnozzberryPie · 24/07/2015 13:07

I want to have a homebirth this time. I'd actually prefer a birth centre but our nearest one is 40 minutes away, which is also 40 minutes from the hospital because the hospital is 5 mins from my house. So I'd feel safer at home.

dgcoco5 · 25/07/2015 11:27

Hi just noticed this thread -is this the most recent thread for Nov babies ? ..someone explain what's with yellow /pink/ blue teams ??!! I'm due Nov 14th...can't believe I'm 24 wks& baby a real wriggler !.

annatha · 25/07/2015 11:32

The midwife made me stay on my back the first time as they had a monitoring belt thing around my belly to trace baby's heartbeat, but it was so painful on my back that I kept sitting up and getting told off. Next midwife started her shift, took one look at me, pulled the belt off and popped a clip on baby's head so I could move around freely Hmm I ended up pushing on my back with stirrups though at the end but I'm not sure why.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 25/07/2015 17:19

Welcome dgcoco! All it means is girl / boy / don't know or not finding out

annatha I'm going to be continually monitored do you think that means I'll have to be on the bed?

Unthoughtknown · 25/07/2015 17:43

Welcome djcoco!

Unthoughtknown · 25/07/2015 17:43

dgcoco5 · 25/07/2015 18:11

Hi all. .Thanks for the clarification abbeyroad! ...not finding out the -it's my 3rd (but 1st with my dp) already have one of each so not fussed what we have produced !

Starspread · 26/07/2015 06:52

I've been surprised by how unusual Team Yellow seems to be in RL; my whole antenatal yoga class all know what they're having! I can see the appeal but I'd expected there to be a few more of us :)

Anyone else up early? I think I must have been kicked awake about 5am - my DP is away this weekend so I'm enjoying some quiet morning time with all the pillows.

lollytav · 26/07/2015 09:10
