For all those lovely bumps incubating until last few days of Oct and all November, spilling possibly over to December for the super comfortable babies- come and chat, rant, vent, chant, glow, sweat, watch nails grow whilst doing antenatal pilates/yoga/sleeping/eating/navel gazing and over analyse to your hormones content!

Optional - FB group is up and bumping, PM me with email to be added.

Toots thanks for the fb add Smile

My ds was back to back, turned during labour. He actually only went back to back in the last week or so, but I was mostly laying on the settee shovelling custard creams into my face by then. I really wouldn't worry about it at this stage, especially if you saw a gp and not a mw (who probably wouldn't bat an eyelid).

Oh and, my boobs are leaking! Anyone else?

austengirl · 16/07/2015 05:47

I haven't felt much movement since yesterday evening. Trying not to panic and following the instructions on the maternity unit's website before I phone the clinic (which doesn't open for 2 hours anyway). Lying still to monitor movements is surprisingly hard work when your mind is racing.

austengirl · 16/07/2015 06:09

Baby seems to be waking up, as I've felt more than the minimum number of movements in half the required time. Will keep an eye on things and ring the clinic later if things don't return to normal.

SnozzberryPie · 16/07/2015 07:52

Hope things are OK austengirl. When I had this in my last pg I was advised to lie down and have a sweet cold drink. It worked and the baby started kicking. How many weeks are you?

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 16/07/2015 09:09

Hope things are ok austen

Is everyone on fb now? If not, I hard my consultant midwife appointment yesterday 'birth choices' apart from there's pretty much no choice as the guidelines have changed so I'll be VBAC ing. Also found out I was in early labour at 35 weeks last time. This was a massive shock to me as I had been previously told I wasn't (so less chance of a repeat)
Got a psychiatrist to see (as under the new guidelines if you want a c section you must be scared of birth, apparently Hmm ) and then the consultant at 34 weeks.
Oh and if I want to see my notes from last time I have to pay £50, which I can do, it's just annoying that's the only way to find out what happened.
And work replied to my pregnancy notice saying I should've told them earlier. I appreciate it's a pain for them but I didn't tell hardly anyone until after my 20 week scan and I don't want to work until I give birth this time so will be starting mat leave earlier than most (last time I stayed on to help them out as no cover had been hired)

Hoping today goes a bit better!

Unthoughtknown · 16/07/2015 17:06

Hope youve had a better day today Abbey. Your employers have no right to get arsey with you.

I've had a lot less movement today (22+6), so I think the baby may have moved?

TakesTwoToTango · 16/07/2015 17:16

I'm also getting less movement - I think she may have gone breach and is kicking downwards rather than outwards.

Austen -Hope baby has woken up now.

Abbey your work have no right to complain! Ignore them!

StAlphonsosPancakeBreakfast · 16/07/2015 17:36

Hope things are OK Austen - how far along are you? I found at 23 weeks I had a bit less movement, the baby seemed much quieter and I was a bit anxious; but then within a few days was HAMMERING at me, I think they were just gathering their strength. Grin

SnozzberryPie · 16/07/2015 18:41

I'm still here, don't really do Facebook.

Abbey ignore your work, they are being idiots, you don't need to tell them till 25 weeks.

I'm not sure about the elcs, I always thought you could request one if you were persistent enough and they had to let you. I'd probably go to the psychiatrist with a rational list of reasons why you want it, and let them refer you straight back to the midwife.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 16/07/2015 19:01

I had a chat to work today and it went a lot better. Also spoke to the psychologist who sounds lovely. I think it will be helpful to me to get DS's birth resolved in my head however I give birth this time. She said she's a specialist in birth trauma.

I'm back to being in two minds about the VBAC thing. I guess I have until the 34 week consultant appointment to decide. I was thinking that the worst part last time was being on the ward so long, so that's a plus point for a VBAC is an early escape (assuming it goes OK). It'll be good to get the consultants opinion on it as I think all the midwives I've seen so far have been told to do the hard sell on VBAC - I'm not finding it very balanced as both carry small risks.

So you'll have me waffling on about this for another 9 weeks!

roughtyping · 16/07/2015 19:28

I found baby wasn't moving as much at 22-23 weeks and really freaked myself out, however I'm now being properly pummelled from the inside. Think it's because they're still just little and can still move about so much that they can get into a position where it's trickier to feel them IYSWIM. Hope everyone's ok!

austengirl · 16/07/2015 20:07

Thank you all, normal service has resumed. Smile The maternity unit site recommended lying on your left side for two hours and counting the number of movements. Good thing I had some time on my hands this morning! If it's over 10 movements, then they reckon you're ok and to pay attention to movement for the rest of the day. Fewer than 10, call your midwife or hospital. I counted 12-15 movements in an hour and there's been pretty typical activity today, so I'll just keep an eye on things.

That's interesting you mention things quieting down StAlphonso. I'm 23+4; I didn't feel anything before 20 weeks and it's been getting more active over the last couple of weeks. But maybe it's just having a chilled out day and will be all over the place tomorrow. Wink

Good charity/website if people don't know about it www.countthekicks.org.uk

TakesTwoToTango · 17/07/2015 14:46

Thanks Dixie. And good to hear things are better Austen. I had a good lot of movement this morning too, which was reassuring. She's still in a funny position though I think! Going to start prenatal Aqua aerobic next week though so am hoping being in the water regularly will help with positioning (I'm sure it did with dc2).

KathrynM1 · 17/07/2015 15:08

Hi All

This is my first post and I am 22 weeks today. Quick question. I've been feeling my tummy tighten quite a lot today. No pain at all, more like a funny turning sensation and tensing. Has anyone had this? I called the midwife and they said prob my uterus growing. Anyone had the same funny feeling? X

TakesTwoToTango · 17/07/2015 15:43

Kathryn, sounds like Braxton hicks, which are perfectly normal and harmless, indeed, helpful, as they help prepare your body for eventual labour (even though they can start from the first trimester).

I think the usual advice is you only need to worry if they become painful or regular, in which case you should get checked just in case it is early labour.

You can get increased Braxtons from overdoing it, getting dehydrated, or from an undiagnosed uti/kidney infection, so worth ruling those out.

KathrynM1 · 17/07/2015 16:01

Ok. Thank you. Just feels like my tummy is going rock hard then loosens again. Will see how the rest of the day goes then maybe pop into local maternity ward. Thank you again x

roughtyping · 17/07/2015 18:52

Kathryn my tummy gets much firmer/harder when I've been walking about for a long time, not sure if it's a case of over doing it a bit. Not sure why it happens but no ill effects! Agree with tango that it sounds like BH but I've never experienced them so couldn't say for sure. Hope you're alright!

KathrynM1 · 17/07/2015 19:03

Thanks guys. Just home from work and been lying down for 15 mins and getting lots of kicks so feeling much happier. I've had a pretty busy week so putting it down to tiredness too. If continues over the weekend will give midwife another call. Thanks for the comments. Smile

lemonwildflower · 18/07/2015 08:50

Hi!
We just had the 20 week scan at 21 weeks.
They told us we are having a girl GrinGrin
So so excited!!
Then we looked at all the measurements they gave us of her, and in comparison to the average bar they how next to them she is below average on most of them.
Anyone else found this?
But they did say all was fine and normal... I feel like they were just shoving me off for the next patient!
X

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 18/07/2015 12:49

lemon wildflower mine is 30th centile on everything too so a bit small. DS was supposed to be big so I wasn't expecting a small one this time!
They told me not to worry about it, I guess some babies are just smaller, someone's got to be. They'll scan later on if they're worried

TakesTwoToTango · 18/07/2015 13:16

Congrats on your little girl lemon! Smile

The measurements sound fine. Virtually no one is bang on 'average'. They will only worry if the baby is at the extremes (off the scale big or small), if the growth pattern changes or if one/some measurements differ hugely from the others (eg all measurements on 70th centile except head circumference on 2nd centile).

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 18/07/2015 18:11

Mine are a bit small too- just slightly below average. But the little lines on those charts represent the normal range, so the centre is just the middle of the normal range but anything eldest on there is still within it!

lemonwildflower · 18/07/2015 18:25

Ah great! Good to know :) thank you all! It's nice to understand that the line represents the average and middle of average and not the extremes - pheeew xx

Heather101 · 18/07/2015 20:18

Hi ladies! Hope you're all well! I'm 22 weeks and still not feeling much movement except slight flutters and pops. Should I be worried?!
