For all those lovely bumps incubating until last few days of Oct and all November, spilling possibly over to December for the super comfortable babies- come and chat, rant, vent, chant, glow, sweat, watch nails grow whilst doing antenatal pilates/yoga/sleeping/eating/navel gazing and over analyse to your hormones content!

Optional - FB group is up and bumping, PM me with email to be added.

I've been a bit quiet on here too, find the FB group a bit easier to keep on top of.

I have been really tired too. I had about 10 hours sleep last night and then an hour nap this afternoon. I cannot get enough!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 12/07/2015 20:21

Thanks Stace I do get the visual disturbance when run down / tired actually so I think you're right. And Google is not my friend!

Has anyone had a consultant Midwife appointment (in between a consultant and a midwife?) Got mine this week to discuss VBAC /ELCS but have found out she can't sign off an ELCS. Worried that this appointment might lean towards VBAC then...

LadyStark · 12/07/2015 20:38

I was supposed to have one to debrief from my first birth and discuss next one but ended up doing it at an earlier consultant appointment so I cancelled it. I was told by a friend who is a midwife that if you convince them that you want/need an ELCS then they will be a great advocate, they can also recommend against and it seems like their opinion holds a fair bit of weight and they are there to encourage VBAC/alleviate fears and answer questions.

Clearly this may be specific to my local hospital, not sure if they all have same remit.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 12/07/2015 20:43

Thanks LadyStark it could well be a debrief if my notes have surfaced actually - although getting one hospital to give notes to another seems ridiculously hard! OK, so I'll have to work on being convincing. I was in 2 minds before the VBAC course and researching my risk but my mind's pretty much made up now for ELCS (if they let me that is)

Unthoughtknown · 13/07/2015 11:07

Had some red spotting last night, major panic, called midwife, in hell of a state. Cried to dp. Went upstairs, had a check down there, turns out id cut myself shaving Confused. Waxing for me from now on.

At least it wasn't anything bad, oh dear! I'm sure the midwives have seen it all before though. One told me that sometimes the bleeds are piles, from the bum and the pregnant women go in because they think it's a bleed

roughtyping · 13/07/2015 15:55

Oh no unthought! Glad you are ok though.

Had scan to check baby's tummy today, all fine, got a really creepy picture of the baby, looks like he's looking right at us! Eek!

Alittlebitofeverything · 13/07/2015 16:05

Hello,

Not been on here for quite a while but the facebook group doesn't seem to be working for me so thought I'd return for baby talk. Have my 20 weeks scan tomorrow excited/scared. Had some really awful dreams the last few nights one of which was very vivid about losing the baby so looking forward to seeing her and hopefully being told everything is normal and healthy.

Hope everyone else is doing well

Laura7010 · 13/07/2015 17:46

Hello all! Had my twenty week scan today and all was good :) I've posted a couple of pics of the cutie on Facebook :)

TakesTwoToTango · 13/07/2015 17:48

Good luck for your scan alittlebit!

Hope the shaving cuts heal quickly and v glad to hear there was nothing worse awry!

rebbles · 13/07/2015 18:11

How do I join the FB group?

ch1134 · 13/07/2015 20:46

So all was well at the 20 week scan which I must be grateful for. I felt reassured to know that the reason I haven't felt much movement is because the placenta is at the front. But I was just telling my sister and she casually said 'oh, so it might be back-to-back then'. A quick Google tells me she's right. Now I'm in tears as my first baby was born back-to-back and it was very traumatic. I can't go through that again. ..

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 13/07/2015 20:49

That's interesting ch glad everything else was OK though.
I'll have to add that to my VBAC questions list for the consultant - I don't know much about it, I assume it makes labour harder?

ch1134 · 13/07/2015 20:57

In my experience it made it very painful as it's more natural for the back to be facing your tummy... the opening is designed that way. Labours can be much longer too. I'm trying not to panic until I've discussed it with the midwife.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 13/07/2015 21:03

Thanks for that. For VBAC they won't allow a long labour - I've been told any delay in progress and it's into surgery, so I'll definitely ask about the likelihood of this

annatha · 13/07/2015 21:11

ch I had an anterior placenta last time and dd wasn't back to back. I know it must be worrying if you've already experienced a back to back labour but it doesn't necessarily mean that it will happen again.

ch1134 · 13/07/2015 21:18

Thank you annatha. That is exactly what I wanted to hear!

SnozzberryPie · 13/07/2015 23:33

Ch I had an anterior placenta last time and dd was back to back, however my labour wasn't unbearably painful at all (although it was long). I think there are things you can do to help the baby to turn, look at the spinning babies website.

I saw the consultant today, he had a poke around my cervix and declared it to be normal Wink. So I am feeling quite reassured that my chances of going to term this time are good.

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 14/07/2015 08:23

Conversely my dd was not back to back but was in the perfect position and I still had a long and very painful back labour (something to do with my severely retroverted uterus or something...).
So don't worry!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 14/07/2015 12:48

That's great news Snozzberry
I've got the consultant midwife tomorrow, feel a bit nervous. I'm also hoping it's not rude to ask when I'm seeing the actual consultant!

tootsroots · 14/07/2015 13:20

i was just told today at 24 weeks gp appt that i am measuring 26 cm (pelvic bone to top of uterus) and baby is back to back but to keep active and hope it moves.... so about to do my 121 antenatal pilates first session before i am allowed to join the main class!! Back to back scares me too but not sure i have any control over it!

OP posts:
TakesTwoToTango · 14/07/2015 14:38

At 24 weeks baby will be moving and changing position all the time most likely. No reason to think it will still be back to back at term. Don't worry! My consultant last time also said that they used to think babies had to be in the optimal position before labour but now they are more aware that baked can turn during labour or deliver just as successfully from other presentations so they are less worried about it.

tootsroots · 14/07/2015 16:06

rebbles dm me your email and i can add you ( and anyone else!) to the FB PRIVATE... group!
