For all those lovely bumps incubating until last few days of Oct and all November, spilling possibly over to December for the super comfortable babies- come and chat, rant, vent, chant, glow, sweat, watch nails grow whilst doing antenatal pilates/yoga/sleeping/eating/navel gazing and over analyse to your hormones content!

Optional - FB group is up and bumping, PM me with email to be added.

There is plenty of time to change your mind though. Keep us updated on how you get on at next appt. when is your due date?

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 22/06/2015 13:27

I'm due 29th October, but was in hospital with DS at 35 weeks, which would be end of September (although that isn't likely to happen again), so I'm keen to have it sorted by then

LadyStark · 22/06/2015 13:30

Abbey I feel your pain, I completely broke down in my consultant meeting. I am probably still not going to go for it but they did say that for a VBAC they wouldn't let me continue unless I was dilating 1cm per hour, wouldn't induce me, let me go beyond 41 weeks etc and consultant was happy to put this in my notes so that I would move c section very quickly if it wasn't going perfectly. Would something like this help?

ChicBabyP · 22/06/2015 13:37

Well i had a bit of an eventful weekend as i almost fainted in a shopping center and had to go to hospital. Low blood pressure! Never had it in my first pregnancy so not sure how to handle it really. I know i don't drink enough probably and do too much, so going to have to monitor my liquid intake a bit more and take it easy.
This pregnancy really is taking its toll on my body. Finding it hard to breathe and take in enough oxygen at times. We think it's probably the fact it has to provide for 2 not just the one and my body isn't coping too well.
I have another 4 months of this to go so we're going to have to come up with some coping plan because it will only get worse.

I hope everyone else is doing better than this!

LadyStark · 22/06/2015 13:40

Oh no Chic! I think I may have had the same this morning, I was on the train to work and could feel myself not feeling right and had to get off. I then promptly fainted and vomited as soon as I 'came to'. I agree that drinking lots of water is important, and for me trying not to overheat!

We must not underestimate how hard our body has to work, yours even more so with two to make!

Blueblink · 22/06/2015 14:22

Oh no Choc and LadyStark so sorry that you've both had fainting epiisodes. I hope you are both OK and not too shaken up!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 22/06/2015 15:28

Sorry you've been feeling faint Chic and LadyStark it's tough growing a human / humans. I had this with my 1st and it was low iron, but I think they check that in your blood tests, mine was borderline so I'm getting checked again at the next midwife appointment.

LadyStark I think it will help when I actually see a consultant. I've got to see consultant midwife before I can see the consultant. Feels like many hoops to jump through when I'm supposedly consultant led anyway! I'm not sure that would help in my case, I really don't want another emergency section. I'd like to know what's going on and have some control this time and they way they've described VBAC to me, in my case it won't be very active due to continuous monitoring and I'll need to be on antibiotics drip (I'm GBS positive) so it'll be pretty much on or near the bed. And then they'll whip me into surgery as soon as things slow down or stop.
It's funny, I really wanted a vaginal birth last time and was gutted I had the section. Now I'm completely the opposite!

LadyStark · 22/06/2015 16:14

Abbey it is the control issue for me too, I can't won't run the risk of a repeat of a last time where I felt I didn't have a voice and had a very traumatic birth. I was GBS+ last time but they said they don't test until later in pregnancy as it can come and go, have you been tested already?

I think waiting until so late in pregnancy to agree a birth plan is a recipe for anxious and worried mamas! I have agreed to growth scan and final decision on 18th September but with my clear preference for ELCS noted and hopefully that's plenty of time before birth.

I'm feeling much better after a day working from bed home thank you Smile and my kitchen is being fitted this week, I may be able to cook by Friday, hurrah!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 22/06/2015 17:12

LadyStark no they haven't tested me but wrote it in my notes, strange! I'll ask for a test. Yeah, waiting until term to make a decision probably seems sensible to the hospital but I've never made it that far before. The birth trauma association recommends control in subsequent pregnancies, I might print those guidelines out and bring them.
Hope the new kitchen is lovely!

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 22/06/2015 17:51

Chic I'm finding this pregnancy much harder too. Tired and slow and getting aches and pains. Didn't feel like this at 40 weeks last time. Growing two babies is definitely harder than growing one baby.

ChicBabyP · 22/06/2015 20:29

Thanks ladystarck, blue, abbey and guy. I was indeed a bit shaken up by the whole episode, got put on a drip, blood taken and constant monitoring of blood pressure and heartrate (that one was through the roof!). Poor dd was witnessing the whole thing and taking care of me ( she's not even 3), holding my hand and giving me sips of water. But dh was really amazing and so calm. But once we got home, he really had a go at me for not drinking enough and generally not taking care of myself like i should. I know he's a 100%right, i need to slow down and realise that i'm not only pregnant but also growing 2 babies.
guy i'm sorry to hear you're also finding it harder this time around but i'm glad to hear it's not just me.
We all need to take easy i think, and listen to our bodies.

austengirl · 22/06/2015 21:17

That sounds scary Chic and LadyStark. Hope you're both feeling better and taking it easy.

I felt a kick for the first time last night. Smile Hard to describe but unmistakable. The scan confirmed the anterior placenta, though I don't know if the technician would have mentioned it if I hadn't brought it up. Everything looked fine and I was really emotional when we found out the sex. But I'm staying team yellow here. ;)

Frescoed · 22/06/2015 21:30

Congrats on the scan Austen.

We had ours today as well. As far as I understood it everything was fine - measuring a bit large round the tummy, but the lady didn't seem to make a big deal of it so I assume it's not a problem. We were in and out in about 15 minutes! Got to see various things, including the four heart valves and stuff, really interesting and quite strange experience.

It's all beginning to feel a bit more real, so we might crack and buy something for the baby now Grin

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 22/06/2015 21:33

Good scan news!

Frescoed DS had a big belly at his scans, it turned out...he just has a big belly, even now Grin

MademoiselleG · 22/06/2015 22:18

Good news at our 20w scan too. What a difference a year makes: exactly a year ago is when they discovered how poorly G was at the 12w scan. I'm so anxious about the next 4 weeks ahead as this is the time we knew but I had to keep growing her until we got absolute confirmation. The cremation was on July 15th and thankfully, I'm allowed to have the day off. The summer holiday cannot come soon enough.
I seem to have a low lying placenta and will therefore have another scan in September, but consultant wasn't overly worried as apparently it can move lots still.

So sorry to hear about your rather scary fainting episodes lady and C - very frightening! This is my second pregnancy beyond 15 weeks and it's much definitely tougher: I guess I am after all 4 years older and have a child to look after too, so no naps or long lie-ins at the weekend. But carrying and growing TWO little humans? That must be tough...
We seem to have quite a few twin pregnancies on this thread actually, pretty incredible!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 22/06/2015 22:25

I'm glad you had a good scan Mademoiselle and sorry for your previous loss. I hope your placenta moves for you. I had praevia last time and DS is here safe and well thankfully, but do take it easy.

UnashamedMOB · 22/06/2015 22:27

mademoiselle, I had a low lying placenta last time too, and it had moved up and out of way by 32 week scan. Think that happens in 95% of cases.

I'm pretty sure I must have an anterior placenta as all the kicks I feel are very low. I did last time too, and only just dawned on me that this could have been a cause of the back to back labour I had. Anyone know if there is a strong link? DS2 was born stargazing Smile

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 22/06/2015 22:31

Unashamed I read babies like to face the placenta, so anterior can mean back to back. Although the placenta doesn't grow in exactly the same place twice, so yours might be elsewhere this time.

I was the 1 in 10 whose placenta didn't move (well, actually it did to 2cm away, but then back again) but someone's got to be that person I suppose! It was all OK in the end anyway

Gr33dyeggs · 22/06/2015 22:40

A quick hello!
Sorry there's been fainting ladies.
Lovely to hear good scan news Smile
I have an anterior placenta this time and read baby can get comfortable in a back to back position. It said not slouching back when sitting and staying active can help prevent it. I've got my ball out already!

Crumbelina · 23/06/2015 06:59

Great scan news! Smile

Mademoiselle, I've got a low lying placenta too and have to be re-scanned at 32 weeks. The sonographer wasn't fussed and said the vast majority move up. Will be good to see the little one again too. Smile

flyingsprocket · 23/06/2015 09:24

Good news at our 20w scan yesterday too, we had a really lovely sonographer. We found out the sex too but are keeping it too ourselves if we can!

Sorry to hear about the fainting episodes ladies, look after yourselves xx

We're on a mini tour of the UK. We were up in Glasgow at the weekend but had to return for the scan yesterday & today we're off up to Cheshire, I love staycations!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 23/06/2015 09:31

Good luck to all with low lying placentas. My sonographer didn't say much last time either but do check with your consultants.
Not trying to worry anyone at all so hopefully this will help rather than worry but a few tips if it doesn't move:

  • probably obvious but you'll need to declare it to travel insurance if you're going away. Any bleeds are usually a hospital stay / bed rest once you're further along
  • if it doesn't move it'll be a c section, so pack some big pants in your hospital bag. If it moves last minute they're only £1 anyway and big pants are great
  • If it's nearish at your 32 week scan do insist on another scan just in case. I booked one for 36 weeks after my 32 week scan.
  • Pelvic rest and no lifting is sometimes advised especially in the third trimester.
  • Bed rest is very boring! Luckily in a way I only did 2 days of it but put some form of entertainment in your hospital bag.

Hopefully you won't need any of the above at all but it does no harm to be prepared. 90% move up, I was just unlucky.

MissBananaMama · 23/06/2015 09:35

Sorry to hear about the fainting ladies. Take care of yourselves.

Is anyone having Braxton hicks yet? I don't know if I'm getting them more because this is number 4 but they seem to be more frequent at night. They can get quite uncomfortable

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 23/06/2015 09:37

I think so MissBanana my belly went very tight and weird this morning. Even though it's my 2nd I've never been entirely sure if that's BH or not!

MissBananaMama · 23/06/2015 11:46

I'm the same I'm not sure if they are Braxton hicks, movements or aches and pains from the day but they feel strange and are more noticeable when lying in bed. Thought this was pretty early but read that you can feel them early especially with subsequent babies.
