Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I've been sent home from work for hurling in the bogs.

Pram-pushing is the ultimate weight-loss tool for postpartum mums. The fat just disappears if you push for a good period each day.

Bluenewbie · 15/06/2015 11:52

done elephant :)

for others who maybe would like to still add themselves :

docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1dWmvdD9SkvPQqKn7rpFHazgufmda2FOTMtL093cZFj8/edit#gid=0

do you think it would be also god idea if we add a column with symptoms? I think it could be reassuring if you see other ladies with same/lack of them. it could be before the date of 1st scan, so the scans could be one after each other.

what do you think?

Bluenewbie · 15/06/2015 11:52

good* not god ;)

Bluenewbie · 15/06/2015 11:56

good to hear purdiepie. rest well.

I've seen prams that look like they were attached to the bike and detached and taken for a walk. looks like a little tent. Maybe it's for a bit bigger kids. There is such thing? I wonder if you can run with it. That would be even more fat burning.
But surely carrying extra kilos on you will also burn some calories? I heard breastfeeding helps somehow hormonally.

elephantfeet · 15/06/2015 11:59

Thanks Blue Smile

This is such a long wait! I have my booking in appt on 6th July which seems ages away and then they request the 12 week scan from there. I have given up trying to work out exactly how far along I am but fairly sure I'm well over 7 weeks so I doubt I will have a 12 week scan by 12 weeks! I just want to know everything is ok.

birdbrain21 · 15/06/2015 12:00

blue everyone is entitled to child benefit. My DH also has a good salary so we don't get healthy start, tax credits etc but unless it's changed in the last two years you get child benefit regardless of salary

Bluenewbie · 15/06/2015 12:08

oh ok thanks for info bird. that would help. My DP will not hesitate to spend every penny on baby but I just never wanted to be in situation like this, that I depend on someone's money.and since we live together , the government thinks my DP has an obligation to feed and dress me Confused.

I've got my booking appt on 25th june and the first scan after 3 weeks of hols when we supposed to tell the family. I'm with you elephant on long wait! a nightmare..

purdiepie · 15/06/2015 12:11

There are myriad mn threads disabusing new mums of the notion that be-ing helps you to lose weight. It is quite often the case that the opposite is true. Demand feeding a baby whilst pinned to a sofa guzzling cake is not conducive to weight loss. It is largely a myth perpetuated by the breastfeeding propagandists, although it is unavoidable if you are to demand feed a baby. It is so hard to eat sensibly when bf-ing makes us ravenous cake fiends trapped beneath a cluster-feeding tot.

twinsandapenguin · 15/06/2015 12:27

But BF does burn extra calories, so i wouldn't exactly call it a myth. Nothing is clear cut though, so much depends on how much sleep you were getting and it is true that BF leaves you feeling depleted and ravenous.
I just thought it was a good excuse to eat lots of cake ????

Raffertys · 15/06/2015 12:27

stocking ARGGGHHHHH! Why the fuck do people feel the need to comment? Seriously, when did it become socially acceptable to comment on whether a woman is pregnant unless she is actually in the process of giving birth?

twinsandapenguin · 15/06/2015 12:29

Blue, i just found myself so much more active. No more sitting on my arse on the sofa (I miss that!). Lots of walking with the pram and being out and about. It all helps to get the fitness back

purdiepie · 15/06/2015 12:29

I agree that churchwoman's comment was bloody dire.

twinsandapenguin · 15/06/2015 12:30

Smartarse comments would drive me bonkers. If she is so experienced then she should know why people keep it quiet until they are ready. I am annoyed on your behalf stocking

Bluenewbie · 15/06/2015 12:31

elephant sorry if you mentioned it already and I don't remember, but do you know your LMP date? you can possibly just calculate from there. unless there are other circumstances that will affect DueD.

purdiepie · 15/06/2015 12:32

Bf-ing burns an extra 500 calories per day. Unfortunately the grub we shove in our cakeholes amounts to twice that Grin

Brummiegirl15 · 15/06/2015 12:35

Bird the rules changed last year. If 1 person in your house earns between £50k and £60k you can claim child benefit but I think you might pay tax on it.

However if 1 person earns £60k or more then you don't get a penny.

This was the outrage. So if both parents earnt £45k each and had a household income of £90k you got full child benefit. But if only 1 person works and gets £60k you get nothing.

So nothing for me either. Nada.

You also don't need the bounty pack for the child benefit forms. That is how Bounty bully you in to taking the the pack.

Everything can be calculated via gov.co.uk

You do not need a bounty pack. Unless you wish to of course.

I will not be taking one - I signed up to Emma's Diary and was hounding by marketing emails after my losses. I unsubscribed and still received them.

I then threatened to report Phillips Avent to the information commissioners office for contravening the electronic communications act and the data protection act and got a grovelling email from the Head of Customer Service.

Bounty and Emma's Diary is nothing but marketing shite for your data

elephantfeet · 15/06/2015 12:38

Blue...my LMP was 28th march, I must have had one in April as the scan showed 6-8 weeks but I just can't remember it happening, and it definitely wasn't when it was supposed to be as I was out of the country then and remember thinking i was lucky not to have it while I was away.

DP works away a lot and has been away for most of the past 3 months so we really haven't seen each other a great deal...I think this is another reason why I'm worried as I thought they were going to tell me I was further along and then when I asked if there might be any reason it was measuring smaller than what I thought they didn't seem to understand what I was asking. So I have accepted that I have forgotten my LMP and that it was in April but earlier than it should have been!!

elephantfeet · 15/06/2015 12:40

Also as it stands I am getting married around 6-8 weeks after the baby arrives so I was banking on bf and pram pushing to actually look half decent on wedding day Grin
Still haven't decided about postponing it, going to wait until 12 week scan to find out actual due date and go from there but my mum and DPs mum seem to think it will be fine...Confused

Bluenewbie · 15/06/2015 12:42

I guess during 4th trimester everything will just drain the energy from us and unless we eat a lot of cake, we should be losing some weight ;) you're probably right twinsandapenguin , with pram it's much more effort to go around and carry it when you can't push, therefore a lot of energy expenditure, comparing to just carrying the baby in swing.

Rufus200 · 15/06/2015 12:47

You can still get child benefit if one of you earns more then £60k it just gets claimed back off the high earners salary as extra tax, so if you don't earn much but your DP/DH does but doesn't share his money then I think you should take the child benefit! Obviously discuss it 1st. Who is more likely to be out buying nappies etc! DH and I have started a savings account that we are both paying into but it is in my name (we don't have a joint account) that is for the baby stuff.

rallytog1 · 15/06/2015 12:49

brummie is right - everyone can get child benefit, but depending on your income you may have to pay some or all of it back. However it can still be a good idea to get it, especially if you're planning to give up work for a while, as it will cover your national insurance contributions which count later towards your state pension etc. So you could still get some benefit from it later down the line, even if it doesn't give you extra money now.

The income rules are ridiculous though.

rallytog1 · 15/06/2015 12:52

Also, blue and Stocking, I'm happy to chat about the experience of using reusable nappies if that would be helpful to you at any point? They are SO much better than they were in our mothers' day!

Bluenewbie · 15/06/2015 12:55

ok so my DP doesn't have such good salary then ;) we both don't earn 60k.

and GP pushed me a bounty pack on my first appt. I really didn't appreciate that NHS is doing something like this. I heard in some nordic country you actually get a proper goodies bag for your baby including money.

elephant it does sound a bit complicated.I guess only scan will tell. Congratulations on getting married! Flowers

Bluenewbie · 15/06/2015 12:58

Rufus I think it's a great idea with saving account. I should mention it to my DP.

are you feeling better?

Bluenewbie · 15/06/2015 13:05

oh great rallytog! I'm really interested in them. I might wait for this research and conversation a bit longer though. As I mentioned already several times, I don't feel pregnant, my symptoms are gone(apart from hunger) and I've got brown discharge for 2 weeks. I have a second HCG levels test today and I hope to hear the results on Wed. I hope I will start to be happily pregnant again then and go to announce the great news on hols to the family.
then I will bother you again about nappies :)
