Lynnie & blue sorry to hear about the spotting. Sure it's nothing to worry about if it's dark brown.

Mars I hope school goes ok for you tomorrow. Try & be gentle with yourself - easier said than done I know!

Night all Smile

I took pregnacare in the first pregnancy when I had hyperemesis. 2nd pregnancy I had a 9 month old (yes I know, loony!)-18 month old to look after and mostly forgot to take them. 2nd pregnancy I had nausea and a handful of actual vomits. I've since heard a lot of people saying pregnacare makes them sick.
This time I'm just taking folic acid and vit d for now, though I might change to a multivit if I feel I need to.

I'm also sceptical about slings creating Velcro babies, I think they either are or aren't but slings are a godsend if they are. I think most people go for somewhere in between, carry the baby when they need to and put them down when they can rather than being diehard 'I must wear this baby at all times'. I had wraps mostly, so comfy and easy once you know how to tie them. We're trying not to have to buy anything for this baby as I still have most stuff so I am resisting even looking at prams and slings etc as I know I'll want it all!

LynnieLurker · 15/06/2015 07:49

Morning everyone - thank you all for your kind, reassuring words. It is a bit better today I think, going into work (3 lessons today, not 5 like marsaday - ouch) and try not to think about it. Positive mental attitude is my mantra for today!

Hope everyone has a good Monday!

jellypi3 · 15/06/2015 08:02

Morning everyone. I think I'm one of the lucky ones whose nausea is easily controlled by eating all the wrong food. I've only thrown up once and that was on the train home from the scan!!

We said we would buy a little baby grow after 12 week scan, but nothing big until the 20 week scan. We've also decided that if we get to 12 weeks we are going to get married this year instead of next, and just have a really small intimate wedding when I'm about 6 months. Otherwise our wedding is planned for next May, when jelly-baby will be 4 months and I'll most likely still be a whale. So just focusing on the 12 week mark at the moment.

I did sign up for Emma's diary and saw you got £200 worth of money off vouchers (they are shit money off though) and they run out early July!! What the hell?? Rip off.

Booking appointment Friday, very excited about that for some reason!

Good morning thread! I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. I'm 6 weeks today which is the first milestone I told DP we need to get through. I still hardly have any symptoms - sore boobs and tiredness (I had a wonderful 2 hour nap yesterday afternoon Smile) but my cramping's gone and I only have very mild nausea. I know it's very lucky but more symptoms would be reassuring.

I'm not buying anything for the bambino yet, I'm hopefully going to get most of my maternity wear and baby clothes from eBay and charity shops - it'll all be used for such a little amount of time that I'd rather get second hand. So no shopping yet but lots of window shopping Blush

Flowers to everyone with spotting and worries

Mumof1sofar · 15/06/2015 09:12

Morning all Smile

Lynnie good luck at work today.
Exciting to hear about booking in appointments Smile I've got a gp appointment this morning so will hopefully be referred to the midwife then Smile

rallytog1 · 15/06/2015 09:18

Morning everyone.

zebras I had virtually no symptoms in my first pregnancy. It was really worrying, but there's now a 2yo dd sitting next to me, so the lack of symptoms was nothing to worry about. You are probably just one of the lucky ones Smile I have got very bad nausea this time around and am looking back fondly at my symptom-free pregnancy last time! I guess the grass is always greener... Are you the other Cheshire person on here? Whereabouts are you?

Stepawayfromthezebras · 15/06/2015 09:28

Thanks rally, that's reassuring Smile

And greetings fellow Cheshire type! But I'm in Cheadle so pretty much Manchester - whereabouts are you?

Rufus200 · 15/06/2015 09:29

Morning

I am feeling wretched today. I couldn't sleep last night, nausea, feeling hot and clammy. Nausea continued all night even with bands on. I have done something to my neck, no neck pain but I have shooting pain up the right side of my skull and a crushing headache that is making my nausea even worse. Trying not to cry, that is how bad I feel but I know crying will make my headache worse. Really don't want to take paracetamol as I'm of the opinion I shouldn't take any meds in the 1st 12 weeks unless I can't manage without them!

monkerina · 15/06/2015 09:31

Brummie, I'm the same- I still actually have my Bounty pack from my first MC, can't bear to throw it away because I was so happy and confident when I got it- but it's 18 months old now! It's even moved house with us... Nothing will be bought in the Monkerina household until we get to 20 weeks.

Jelly, a friend of mine got married at 8 months last year- she said she had a fabulous day and didn't miss out on anything due to being pg; she felt baby was a part of it, but as he wasn't here yet she didn't have to worry about him. Congrats! Flowers

raviolig · 15/06/2015 09:34

Morning everyone.
Well my symptoms have well and truly kicked in. I woke up with a killer headache which is not shifting at all with paracetamol. Headaches were my biggest sign of pregnancy before so I was half expecting it. But nausea has started too. I haven't been sick, yet! But also I have got really bad acid reflux already, anyone else? I had it all through both previous pregnancies, and got the hairy babies to prove it! I am also increasingly dizzy. I am not even 5 weeks yet!

elephantfeet · 15/06/2015 09:36

Zebras I have hardly any symptoms either, it's a bit disconcerting but trying to count myself lucky! I have been hungry quite regularly (I don't usually get very hungry) and I am sleeping a lot!
I am off work today so that I can pack our house up...we are supposed to be moving this week!

Mumof1sofar · 15/06/2015 09:48

Poor you Rufus. As far as I remember you are not allowed to take ibuprofen but paracetamol is ok.

Jelly a friend of mine got married at 7 months & says it was the happiest day of her life Smile

The nausea kicked in a bit this morning but definitely hasn't properly hit yet. I remember in my first trimester with dc1 dh ordered a Chinese takeaway & as soon as I smelt it I just puked! BlushBlush

rallytog1 · 15/06/2015 09:50

rufus sorry to hear you feel so rubbish. You've had quite a week, so maybe it's all catching up with you? Paracetamol is fine in the first tri - I'm currently on prescription cocodamol which my doctor is totally happy for me to continue taking. So don't feel you have to suffer in agony if a couple of paracetamol might help.

zebras I'm near Frodsham.

peggysue82 · 15/06/2015 10:16

Hello ladies. Can I join please? I have literally just found out about 20mins ago that I am expecting my 3rd...according to NHS choices pregnancy calculator I should be due about 16th Feb. Haven't told DH yet...am thinking of waiting till Sunday so I can give him an extra Fathers Day Card, but I am terrible at keeping secrets! Grin

twinsandapenguin · 15/06/2015 10:23

Wow, exciting morning for you Peggy! Congratulations Smile

Boobear1983 · 15/06/2015 10:26

Can anyone recommend some good vitamins to take? I spent £15 on pregnacare ones but they're so big they're making me sick, i can't swallow them! Incidentally if anyone wanta mine then send me a message and I'll post them, no point in them going to waste. If i can't find any that i can swallow I'll just take folic acid and vit d.

peggysue82 · 15/06/2015 10:32

Thanks Twins Smile I am especially excited as I have two very close family members who will be due around the same time...is gonna be a busy year for us by the looks of it! Don't think it has quite sunk in yet tbh.

Bluenewbie · 15/06/2015 11:10

Good morning ladies! Happy Monday to everyone ;) Let's have a happy and full of positive news week Flowers

Mumof1sofar thank you for your kind words.

Mars FX for you. Take care of yourself.

Jelly that's so sweet! Congratulations. And I'm also excited fro your booking appointment :)

peggysue congratulations and welcome!

on Pregnacare. The conception ones made me sick and gave me acne. I only took them as my friend got pregnant on them ;) and I didn't on other vitamins. I was feeling good on Mum to be Sanatogen(?)and some other for vegans. I now continue on Pregnacare conception as I had the whole pack when BFP happened. Also there was a free sample in Bounty pack for pregnancy time. When it's finished , I will definitely buy other brand.
This bounty pack's are a joke right? It's like marketing samples bag. 1 nappy?? (I will not use Pampers anyway). It's even more disappoining what you said Jelly about the vouchers. I definitely won't buy anything until 20week. It's still so early.. I don't even feel pregnant any more.
As with you Zebra and Elephant ;) , my symptoms are gone. well, beside being hungry often. My DP has got one though! He's constantly sleepy and tired! Shock

Rufus I'm sorry to hear that you feeling so bad.I'm same with medicines in first trimester, but maybe your pain is more stressful for your baby than the paracetamol? sending you warm wishes. Flowers

StockingFullOfCoal · 15/06/2015 11:14

I take the Superdrug ones, they're £2.99 a pack.

Babies are meant to be held. IMO there is a massive misconception about Velcro babies and putting them down constantly. I look at the first 12 weeks as the fourth trimester. Slings weren't around when I had my youngest DD and with a 2 year age gap I really could have done with one. I'm attending a local sling Library next month to have a good look, I need something quick and simple to use for the school runs, especially the morning one, I need to be able to breastfeed whilst walking more or less hands free too (many memories of running around after my then toddler with a 3 week old baby hanging off my boob, I'm sure it would have been easier with a sling!)

Prams don't really interest me because I've had loads over the last decade But it'll be a dinky parent facing one, possibly another Bee or a Buzz for ease of use on buses as I don't drive.

twinsandapenguin · 15/06/2015 11:16

Blue. You need to watch out for the bounty ladies, they stalk the post natal wards and sign you up for unending junk mail. There is only one thing that you need from the pack and that is the child benefit form, which even if you won't be receiving child benefit you need to send back to protect your state pension whilst off work on maternity leave. The rest as you say is just junk

StockingFullOfCoal · 15/06/2015 11:22

We have a small drawer with some clothes in already Blush Mostly green and grey from h&m. We'll be keeping the gender as a surprise until the baby is born so on the lookout for unisex clothes!

I've been browsing TotsBots and Little Lambs for nappies. Blush DH isn't convinced.

One of the ladies at Church discreetly congratulated me on the pregnancy on Sunday, I've only met her briefly before I was a little Shock Until she said "I was a MW for 20 years and I was a HV after that for 15 years, I noticed your boobs and little bump." Blush I definitely have a little one, it is, after all, my 7th pregnancy (I've had 3 losses) and I'm a stone heavier than I was the last time I was PG, so it's to be expected I suppose.

rallytog1 · 15/06/2015 11:27

Little lambs are great Stocking - I'm a big fan of reusable nappies.

Agree with others - avoid the bounty lady on the ward at all costs!

elephantfeet · 15/06/2015 11:37

I have tried to add myself to the stats list but it won't work on phone or ipad, please could somebody put me on? I am 27 and in the north east, I don't know my edd. This is my first baby.

Bluenewbie · 15/06/2015 11:47

twinsandapenguin I haven't seen bounty ladies yet. I can't believe my GP is giving away such marketing material. I'm not entitled to child benefit nor to Healthy start and similar. Although I earn very, very little , my DP has got good salary. These calculations can be sometimes unfair, since we're not married, we do have separate finances and his money is not my money!

StockingFullOfCoal what insensitive comment form the church lady! I know she's experienced but one can be just putting on weight and she's trying to be a smart ass. It's a bit invasive, that's what I feel. I would probably burst in tears as well as I almost did when I went and announced to the GP Confused Blush

and I'm thinking that sling will be most natural thing after PG. I also checked the reusable nappies idea, since one of the freecycle ladies put them on offer. Can it be as hygienic so you can use it for another baby? Anyway, I can't imagine putting a nappy full of poo to the washing machine. On the other hand it's my first PG so I really don't know what I'm taking about and need to research further. I remember that my mum's generation had only reusable nappies and she said that today's mum's have easier life. but apparently it can be done without harsh chemicals next to my baby's skin and plastic landing on landfill.
