Without trying to start big debate, I do agree with Mars about the fourth trimester etc. Dd was a velco baby and no amount of convincing her otherwise would have worked. Looking back I wish I hadn't have worried about creating a rod for my back and just enjoyed the cuddles a bit more. I genuinely believe that you cannot spoil a very young baby.

Mumof1sofar · 14/06/2015 20:07

It's interesting how so many of us have had such different experiences with slings. Just shows how each baby has its own personality & preferences right from the start! Smile

I'm with you lot on the eating thing! We just had a roast & I totally stuffed myself Confused The tiredness is also hitting me now - I had to have a nap while dd had hers after lunch!

Mawsymoo · 14/06/2015 20:08

Hi all - wow this is fast moving! Welcome to all the newcomers and congrats to those who have seen little heartbeats!

I'm feeling quite ill at times and I'm absolutely exhausted. Hopefully they are all signs that things are progressing well. I have ny scan this coming Thursday so I'll be nervous for that.

I'm eating constantly too and feel okay for around 30 minutes afterwards and then I feel terrible again. Nothing is too appealing at the moment either. I just feel like chips and cereal and other rubbish.

Rufus200 · 14/06/2015 20:28

OMG I am so glad to be home! Nausea is getting worse, had to spend the entire day with my bands on, so glad I wasn't sick on the flight. Just ate a curry which probably wasn't a good idea, so followed it with chocolate. Can't wait to go to bed but need nausea to subside!

I will admit that I have two huge boxes of baby clothes that I bought over the last year. Everything I bought was majorly discounted. It was my way of coping waiting for DH to be ready and then the month after month of TTC and then needing Clomid!

Cheesypop · 14/06/2015 20:29

I survived the in-laws visit and was on my best behaviour. Tried not to think too much about the fact I'm carrying around some of their genes in my body Shock

We're not buying anything until after 20 weeks, we won't do anything for the nursery etc until then either. The only thing we have done is bought a tiny little cup. We have our favourite tea cups that we are very attached to, they are hand-made at a local artisan pottery and cost a bomb. We happened to be in there yesterday after our scan and we boght a baby-sized one Blush strictly nothing else though!

haquoi123 · 14/06/2015 20:54

lily I found pregnacare made me feel really sick, even when ttc so I take other vitamins (Mum to be) and they're so much better.

We bought a moses basket and had some blankets and hand me down baby clothes for ds, but my mum cleared them it of our house before we came home after he died. I don't want them back until we have a living baby and think I'll only buy things in the January sales if we get that far. On the plus side, I did all the research only a year ago so just going to stick to the decisions we made then!

twinsandapenguin · 14/06/2015 21:06

Bird, I know exactly what you mean. Just cba to do anything. I am just hoping it passes.
Lily, I think it is the pregnacare that makes funny coloured see!
Last time we didn't buy anything until about 16 weeks. I don't think we actually need to buy anything this time, particularly if it is another girl. Well, apart from a sleepyhead. I want to try one this time in the hope for no repeats of hellish non sleeping baby

Boobear1983 · 14/06/2015 21:06

I am really struggling with fatigue at the minute, to the point where i can barely leave the house for a few hours without having to come home to collapse on the sofa. Dh said to 'ask the people on that forum if you're normal'.

I'm back at work on tuesday to 10 hour shifts which I'm not looking forward to. Also struggling with wanting to eat everything in sight!

haquoi123 · 14/06/2015 21:09

boobear I had that last time and the midwives told me to go with it... Might be worth mentioning it though if it's worrying? I found that when I had to work I could just about push through it but nothing as strenuous as 10 hour shifts.

twinsandapenguin · 14/06/2015 21:24

Boobear, are you taking a multivit including iron?
Are you like this every day? Extreme tiredness is pretty normal unfortunately, but if you can't make it through the day then it is probably worth mentioning to the gp

Raffertys · 14/06/2015 21:28

Hello ladies, sorry for lack of interaction over the weekend. Been mega busy. Now lying in bed catching up. Hope everyone is well.

Yy to those saying pregnacare = Envy . I have to take it just before bed so I fall asleep before the sickness form them kicks in.

Mirabal · 14/06/2015 21:37

I'm definitely going to try a sling this time. Had a baby bjorn last time but wish I'd got something that was more comfy and snuggly for both of us. She also had reflux so it would have been much better to be upright and I spent the first 4 or 5 months not being able to put her down anyway, so at least I would have had my hands free.....will need that this time!

Birdbrain I think I was actually depressed in previous pregnancy but it was more so in the last few months. Told my doc about it last week and a lot of what you say above sounds similar and she thought it did sound like depression. My mum also revealed after dd was born how worried she was about me. I think you should tell you doc/midwife about it, my doc said they are very 'hot on perinatal depression now' which I think/hope means they will get you some help asap. Sorry you're feeling like this Flowers

purdiepie · 14/06/2015 21:44

Charlotte, I am grinning at the news you feel sick. Just wonderful.

Mars, every single Attachment Parent woman I know who wore her baby had one that miraculously turned out to be one of those you couldn't put down. I can see the point of slings if your baby needs to be upright all the time but otherwise I've never understood the thrill. 'But I get so much done around the house!' my antenatal chums would exclaim. 'So do I. I just put the baby down.' Hmm

birdbrain21 · 14/06/2015 21:47

Thanks mirabal there's so much talk about post-natal depression it's reassuring to hear I'm not the only one who feels like this during pregnancy. I'll mention it on Wednesday when I go to the mw, I'm just not sure what would help Hmm hopefully something because I don't think either me or dh will survive if I'm like this for much longer...

boobear extreme tiredness is normal, unfortunately most of the time you just have to push on and you'll find it gets better after a few weeks. 10 hours is a long time when you feel like this though, can you talk to a manager?

Brummiegirl15 · 14/06/2015 21:47

Yes it's the vitamin B in pregnacare that makes your wee a funny colour.

After the inlaws left (I'm so tired I can't even remember saying they came round) I slept for nearly 3 hours!!!

Really quite worried about nausea calming down - even though I've had a scan. I lost my last baby after seeing a heartbeat so this is my vulnerable time.

The only thing keeping me going is the fact my tiredness is so bad.

I'm also not buying a single item until after 20 weeks. I don't even want a bounty pack

purdiepie · 14/06/2015 21:50

Birdbrain, please tell your gp how you feel, you could well be suffering from prenatal depression Thanks

Rufus, great to see you back and nauseous. Those of you spotting and/or cramping are brave Thanks

purdiepie · 14/06/2015 21:52

If I see a Bounty rep on the wards this time around I will smash her photographic trolley up.

Boobear1983 · 14/06/2015 21:55

Thanks for the answers. Birdbrain work have been good so far and taken me off night shifts which is good, however long shifts go with the job unfortunately. I know when ladies get further on, normally 6months + they will reduce hours but i doubt they will this early on. I should have a second appointment with my mw in a few weeks so will see how i go.

goodnightmush · 14/06/2015 21:57

I'm a big sling fan. I still actually use our Ergobaby, though I don't know how much longer I'll be able to keep that up. It's so much easier on public transport with a sling, but now that we've moved out to suburbia it's painfully obvious we need a car (so expensive -ouch)!

Anyway I hope all of you who are struggling with nausea are doing okay and managing to take it easy when you can. I just feel really tired. DS1 and I watched so much TV this morning as I just couldn't face running around with him. Hope it's not like this the entire pregnancy.

Charlotte, I've been feeling spacey and dizzy too. I'd take it as a good sign.

Sweet dreams all

goodnightmush · 14/06/2015 21:58

And thank you monkerina

birdbrain21 · 14/06/2015 22:07

purdie from what I've read online I also think I have prenatal depression. My gp is pretty useless though so I'm just going to try stick it out till mw on wednesday

purdiepie · 14/06/2015 22:22

Bird, I was on ADs all the way through my pregnancy until week 36 (I came off them so I could have a midwife-led birth at the standalone unit...worse decision ever - evil PND). Please don't be afraid of medication, I had such a happy and carefree pregnancy - the best months of my life.

Bluenewbie · 14/06/2015 22:42

Lynnie I have a brown discharge for the last 2 weeks. I was really worried for first week especially that my light symptoms seemed to ease as well. Everyone is ignoring it and say not to worry though, including GP and MW. They will only check my HCG levels since I was a bit panicking. So now I'm trying not too worry about it that muc. If anything was wrong, it would be much more dramatic I explain to myself. But the whole situation made me quite down. Don't let it put you down Lynnie. I hope we will be fine. It seems to be common thing.

Birdbrain I also feel depressed some days, seriously. Until you mentioned it I thought it's just me, my regular mood swings just deeper or the situation with my PG. Now I can see that this might be hormonal. Let's try to take it slowly . I'm with you Bird.

actually after what you wrote ladies, I think I've got a symptom - I'm hungry all the time! :)

Marsaday · 14/06/2015 22:44

Well last night i was kept awake by oh's booze induced snoring, and tonight i have a teething toddler. Molars are evil!! I suspect i will be going to work in a sleep deprived fog of nausea tomorrow. Am teaching back to back all day

Marsaday · 14/06/2015 22:47

Oops, hit post too soon!
Am teaching back to back all day and on duty before and after school and breaktime, and doing gcse exam retakes through lunch, so i'll be non stop from 8.30 until 4pm. Considering telling work early so that i dont have days like this, if i feel sick like the end of last week its going to be a nightmare ..
