Ah, I see surferchic Yes, our local NHS have been great through our infertility probs, we got seen very quickly and everyone we've seen has been lovely.

I'd wondered if I'd get an earlier scan for a Clomid conception but looks like I'll be waiting a bit longer. It's worse than waiting for Christmas!!

Lamaitresse · 10/06/2015 09:05

Probably the best place for you to be lahottie Hope you're feeling better very soon Flowers

Rufus glad to hear the bleeding's calmed down, hope that's the last of it for you and that you get to enjoy being bridesmaid Smile

Stepawayfromthezebras · 10/06/2015 09:08

Yes, hi and congrats to monkerina too Smile

GoulashSoup · 10/06/2015 09:19

ruffus glad things have stopped again. It must be really scary for you. I have everything crossed for you.

Lahottie, hope they find something that helps and can get you rehydrated if nothing else. Fingers crossed you will be out and up to a party this weekend Flowers.

Raaaaaah · 10/06/2015 09:58

lahottie you poor thing! And here we are wittering on about Mr Whippy! (Though I am thrilled to hear that I can eat it).

Rufus, I'm really glad things have settled down.

I have DD's Birthday party here on friday. We are having it at home and I am now starting to worry about the weather! The BBC weather forcast seems to go from glorious sun to extreme thunder storms in a matter of minutes. Eeeeek! Sixteen 3-4yr olds and their parents in our house! Someone reassure me Shock!

AbFab86 · 10/06/2015 10:52

Wondering if I could get a bit of advice? I posted a hello a day or so ago but not sure anyone saw it apart from Rufus (that's not an 'oh poor me' statement, it's just so people don't think I'm wading in asking questions without saying hello!). I got my first BFP on Monday after taking clomid. I'm a type 1 diabetic too so know this will be a high risk pregnancy. I'm overseas so it's all private health. When should I book my first appointment? I have one for week 7 at the moment but wasn't sure if I should move it earlier? Doctors here like to shove a foof-cam up you at any given opportunity (so they can charge you for it) so I will probably be scanned when I go. Is there anything visible at 6 weeks? Or is it better to wait til 7? The only reason I'm debating it is that I'm flying back to the UK for the summer on 5th July so if I need any treatment or anything I could do with the extra week before I fly.

Any advice?

Stepawayfromthezebras · 10/06/2015 11:00

Hi AbFab from a fellow Clomider Smile

I've booked my first midwife appointment for next Friday when I'll be 6+4 but I probably won't be getting a scan until 12 weeks. I think the general advice is that you may not see a heartbeat (or even anything) at a 6 week scan so it's best to wait until later so you're not unnecessarily alarmed.

Betty5714 · 10/06/2015 11:01

Raaaaaah this time last week the forecast was for thunderstorms on Friday and then on Friday it was beautiful and sunny, so don't fret yet.

I'm sat at home today. Had a light bleed at work yesterday afternoon which feeaked me out thinking it was the beginning of a mc. Had a mc at this time in pg back in March. Went home early but bleeding stopped and no cramping. Called the gp surgery this morning and a dr is calling me back at lunchtime. I know they'll probably say 'wait and see' but wanted to check in with them. My boss has told me to stay home. Apparently his wife had a mc when they first got pg, then had bleeding in their second pg which worried them but all turned out ok. So i'm a bit worried but not completely freaked out.

Sorry to hear others are poorly and worried. This early pg malarky is a bit stressful! Fx for everyone.

WizardSong · 10/06/2015 11:03

That's my midwife appointment booked!

I'll be 9+3 by then. Itching to tell everyone now!

AbFab86 · 10/06/2015 11:05

Thanks zebras Smile I need to get reading my baby book I think, although I don't know if it'd be considered different because I'm diabetic or what. Hmm should really get in touch with my endocrinologist I suppose. Wish we could fast forward through these first few months and just get to the fat glowing stage Grin

RattyCatty · 10/06/2015 11:08

Glad you are at home betty and great that your boss is understanding!

I've just booked an early private scan for around 8 weeks, gulp!

newbieblue · 10/06/2015 11:19

I double that rallytog1!

on the supplements note: I took Pregnacare conceive as it has been recommended to me as best for conceiving and it worked ;) but that were only pills that gave me acne and nausea.
Can anyone recommend any other brand that would be good for all basic nutritions plus omega 3? or they don't do them mixed? Also I'm avoiding animal products so anything for vegan would be possibly even more beneficial to me and my baby. Any recommendations?

pretzelpieces · 10/06/2015 11:50

newbie I'm taking nhp (natural health practice) antenatal support multivitamin which is vegetarian and dairy free (not sure about egg). It doesn't contain omega 3 though I think. It has everything else you need.

Raffertys · 10/06/2015 12:06

Hi abfab. I can only speak from my own experience of a very early scan; others will have different stories. I booked a private scan for 6+4. No idea why - it's far too early and I can only blame pregnancy hormones (I understand some have scans for medical reasons at that stage).

The scan showed a sac and fetal pole, with no heartbeat. This is normal for that stage or pregnancy but absolutely not what i was expecting. They also cannot measure accurately at that stage, so I was told the baby was under-developed according to my dates. I had to wait a week, thinking the worst - baby too small, no heartbeat - and was then scanned again. The second scan showed progress but not as much as it should, which wasn't picked up due to the challenges with measuring at that early stage. So i then got told all was fine, baby was growing well etc. Unfortunately it wasn't, and I lost it a week later.

This is a story at one end of the scale; as I said, there will be people who have really positive experiences of early scans. If I were you, and this is what I'm doing this time around, I would wait until at least 8 weeks. Then you can be sure that you absolutely should see a heartbeat and they will be able to measure much more accurately.

Betty Hope you're ok. It's great that your boss is so understanding.

Brummiegirl15 · 10/06/2015 12:15

Hi Monkerina

Lovely to see you here!!

Just nipped on to post that Birmingham Women's Hospital are recruiting for the PRISM trial which is to see if progesterone can help in early pregnancy - I'm already on it anyway as it's a standard treatment for recurrent mc. But it's worth considering if anyone has experienced spotting in pregnancy (not sure if previous one or this one)

I think other hospitals will be doing it but Birmingham has opened recruitment if anyone is interested

Betty5714 · 10/06/2015 13:07

Thanks guys. The dr said the fact that the bleeding has died down is hopeful. She said if it were to be a mc then the bleeding would get heavier and the pain stronger, which i guess is obvious but i feel reassured to speak to someone who knows more than me and didn't sound alarmed at what i was describing.

Unless there is a medical reason to have a scan before 8 weeks i personally wouldn't as it sounds as though things are not always clear and we don't need any more uncertainty at this stage of pg. But ive never had a scan so that's just opinion.

I want to fast forward these few weeks, but at the same time feel annoyed as i think i should be enjoying this more. Esp. whilst no sickness!

Welcome monikerina.

lahottie i hope you're doing ok!

MoreCakeMoreCake · 10/06/2015 13:11

Hi all

Bit of a weird day today. Though I got my BFP on Friday I poas again today (I know, I know) and the BFP is noticeably fainter.

I've also had brown CM and worrying myself silly that this is the start of another early mc for me. Have had some mild pain / niggly feelings but no red blood so am clinging to that. Bit of backache as well and very teary.

My main worry is the fading BFP, and I know I shouldn't have peed, but I did. DH is cross with me!!

When I was pg with DD everything was fine, no knicker checking, no cm checking, no goddam Googling all the time! It's so draining.

DD is napping so have put my feet up and had a Wispa to calm the hell down. Might move on to a Kinder Bueno now.

Any positivity to give me about the fainter BFP today? Haven't called the docs as I know they'll just tell me to wait and see. I'm only 4+5 so very early days.

birdbrain21 · 10/06/2015 13:28

All I'm going to say is HORMONES think you'll probably all understand! I just want to go to bed and cry but at school and got to go teach in a minute Sad

AbFab86 · 10/06/2015 13:34

Cake could it have been less concentrated pee? Or a different type of test?

Betty and Raffertys thanks for your advice. I wasn't sure when a heartbeat etc would be present, but expected later than 6 weeks. I'll leave my appointment at 7 weeks because I'm flying back to the UK at 7+4 so won't see my doctor again until I am around 14 weeks. I will have my 12 week scan in the UK. I've made an appointment with my endocrinologist so I'll be able to have a chat with him about the risks due to diabetes.

Honestly still can't believe this is all real. I so hope it's a sticky one. And I hope everyone else's is too! There are more live births than miscarriages surely overall? Sticky vibes to everyone worried at the moment Thanks

MoreCakeMoreCake · 10/06/2015 13:37

Abfab it was the same eBay cheapo test and FMU. Have got one left but am determined to not pee on it! Will just drive me potty with worry.

Hope all is ok with you. Come on beans!!!

Betty5714 · 10/06/2015 13:59

I second that abfab and cake, come on sticky beans!

RhiPea · 10/06/2015 14:24

Hi all! Have been tentatively following the thread- got my BFP on Monday. According to an online due date calculator, I'm 4+3 weeks, edd 16/2/16. I'm 27, first pregnancy. No symptoms whatsoever yet! I'm desperately trying to be cool about it, because i know it's only a bunch of cells at the mo and plenty can go wrong, but I'm struggling to not tell every single person I see! Huzz is pleased, but being sensible, so I'm having to keep the baby chat in check! Thought I'd join so I can spout all the feels here! I'm going to phone the surgery his afternoon to make an appt for about 2 weeks time- seems SO far away!!
Looking forward to sharing the journey with you all :)

Tiredoftiredness · 10/06/2015 14:25

Yay for sticky beans!

I feel decidedly hungover which I'm not really enjoying and have just had to try on all my trousers before packing for hols and over half don't fit Shock think I will have to do some serious shopping when I get hoe again!
