Welcome rhi Flowers

Lamaitresse · 10/06/2015 14:28

Did you perhaps drink more the evening before cake? It's a worrying time isn't it Confused I too look back at my pregnancy with ds and I was completely oblivious to all these worries. Wish it was still like that!

Abfab your scan sounds well timed to me. Heartbeats normally start from 6+1 to 6+5 iirc, although we saw dd's at 5+4 but she was an ICSI baby so we knew to the minute when conception took place. I have a scan booked for Monday when I should be 6+2/6+3 so am wondering whether we'll see much. 7 weeks should be fine though Smile

Lamaitresse · 10/06/2015 14:30

Hi rhi and congratulations on your bfp Grin

monkerina · 10/06/2015 14:32

Oh rubbish early scans- we had infertility clinic this morning, they happily confirmed pg and booked me in for a scan next thurs; I'll be about 5 weeks tops by then due to late ov, so there'll be bugger all to see but they were insistent that I'd be 6 1/2 weeks from last period! That'll be fun Smile

Ladies bleeding- the last time I saw my GP, she told me that she bled all through her last pregnancy and has a happy and healthy baby now. Some women just do, apparently! Flowers

newbieblue · 10/06/2015 15:04

thank you pretzelpieces , I'll check it.
I meant supplements for vegans as for specific nutrition deficiencies that vegans may have-B12, Omega3 etc. I would prefer to swallow 1 pill instead of 3 ;) do they make supplements specifically for people with diet poor in these nutritions?

Just booked my first midwife appt, in 2 weeks. They don't have earlier appts. I will be almost 9 week. That's pretty late right? Do they book my scans or the hospital will do it after receiving the letter from my GP (already sent)? I'm concerned because we're going for holidays, first weekend of July and will be back only when 12 week starts.
Do I have to nag the midwives or my GP for an earlier scan? or should I just wait.. today I've got good day for waiting. Yesterday I was very anxious.

I think the internet browsing for all the symptoms/lack of them and MCs is not doing us any favour girls. That's what I think made me worried yesterday- reading about everything what can go wrong and every single symptom/lack of it in my PG. It was easier without internet don't you agree? ;)

I second you ladies: Come on beans! stick with us! :)

sending you all warm wishes x

RattyCatty · 10/06/2015 15:09

I hear you newbieblue I need to step away from Google!

Hospital called me & my first midwife app is this Sunday!

newbieblue · 10/06/2015 15:23

Raaaaaah thank you for reassuring post (I just managed to go through the pages finally :) )

RattyCatty good for you! looks like different areas have got different procedures. I'm really concerned now that I won't get to my first scan before hols.

haquoi123 · 10/06/2015 15:24

Hi, can I join? Bit late to the February party - I've been in the January thread but just had an early scan which put me back to 5 1/2 weeks (from 7!). This is #2 (DS born at 19 weeks so late miscarriage in September), no idea of edd!

purdiepie · 10/06/2015 15:26

rallytog1 · 10/06/2015 15:52

8-9 weeks is pretty standard for the first mw appointment blue. And it's plenty of time to get your scan booked for before 13+6 (which is the cut off for NT measurement). Last time my scan was bang on 13+6 because of a booked holiday. If you explain your holiday dates to your mw, they should be able to get you a scan date that fits around when you're away.

purdie I'm with you on the Envy Envy Envy. Have felt proper rough the last few days.

Raffertys · 10/06/2015 16:09

newbie that's not late at all love. Mine isn't until 8+2. They won't generally see you until 8 weeks because of the risk of mc prior to that.

I've been very cramps this afternoon. I think it's wind. Off home for a mammoth nap on the sofa.

Raffertys · 10/06/2015 16:10

Oh and welcome to all the new bfps. Congrats!

newbieblue · 10/06/2015 16:56

Thank you rallytog1 and Raffertys!!
that will leave only week 9,12 and 13 for scan, (away on 10-11 and bit of 12).
I would prefer to have first scan before going as it is a family visiting trip to actually give them the news! I know it will be still early.. or not?

purdiepie hop you will feel better soon Flowers

GoulashSoup · 10/06/2015 17:55

blue my local midwife team do booking appts between 8-10wks. I will go to the Rosie for my scan and they are notoriously busy so I have booked my booking apt for 8+4, the earliest she will see me as the clinic is only Tues and Thurs. I have to hope the date I get allocated is before 14wks (they just send you one in the post unless it has changed in the last 3yrs). It can be quite difficult to rearrange. Fingers crossed you get given a date that is good for you.

GoulashSoup · 10/06/2015 17:56

And ditto purdie, 'tis not fun.

Lilymog · 10/06/2015 18:18

Hi girls, hope you're all ok. Sorry if this is tmi, but I have struggled yesterday and today with dreadful stomach cramps and the resulting explosive upset tummy. If I didn't know better I would have thought it was IBS,but I don't suffer from IBS. Is this another sign? Also not suffering with sickness now (eased off over the last two days, and so trying not to worry about that), but I've got really bad heartburn! Anyone else suffering? X

newbieblue · 10/06/2015 18:23

Goulash I guess no goulash soup for you then ;) I love this stuff though, would eat it now! I feel empty stomach every 2h! :)

I feel so sorry for you ladies. I hope you all get better soon. Flowers

I guess same appt for me Goulash, I'm booked for 8+6 for midwife at the moment. What do you mean you hope, they don't make sure the scan HAPPENS before 14week?! That's the crucial time as rallytog said as well, right? does the hospital send scan dates after us seeing midwife or after receiving the letter from GP which she sent already?

rallytog1 · 10/06/2015 18:26

I have a suspicion 9 weeks is too early for the NT element of the scan so you'll probably get a date in week 12 or 13 blue - It's normally done between 11 and 14 weeks.

If you want an early one, you could always get it done privately. There are quite a few companies that offer them. The NHS scans aren't done for reassurance but to confirm dates and do the NT measurements. We had a private one at 10 weeks last time as my NHS one was at 13+6 and I wanted to be sure there was something in there before we told people!

rallytog1 · 10/06/2015 18:29

Oh, and I wouldn't worry too much about the possibility of not getting it by 14 weeks. I've never heard of anyone who's not been able to get it by then. It varies from health trust to health trust, but your mw will probably refer you to the ultrasound dept at your booking appointment and they'll send you a date through in the post.

newbieblue · 10/06/2015 18:49

thanks rallytog

I thought they could split for dating scan in 9 week and then NT,Down syndrome for when I'm back 12+. But if I'm seeing midwife a week before hols , I doubt they would have time to book me in, even if there was a reason for this split in their opinion (like spotting).

I would also want to make sure that I'm telling family when the bean is actually still hanging there

GoulashSoup · 10/06/2015 18:55

blue for me it is the midwife that will refer me. I haven't seen a GP, you self refer to the MW where I live (not in Cambridge itself). I'm not wanting to scare you with regards to scan dates, but unfortunately I have known two people who have missed the window due to late 12 wk scans at the Rosie. They do bloods at 16wks instead in that case.

I'm also slightly worried as they moved my dates forward by 9days last time, so what should have been 11+6 turned into 13+1 so had it been any later they wouldn't have done the NT for us. I still maintain my dates were right. I have irregular cycles so use OPKS and temp charting.

I don't want to panic you, they will try to allocate you the best scan date possible.

Stepawayfromthezebras · 10/06/2015 19:02

Lily I've had a bit of an upset stomach the last 2 mornings, I'm not sure if it's a symptom or maybe caused by the Pregnacare pills? I'm sure it's nothing to worry about though.

I've not had any sickness yet but only 5+2 so crossing fingers it doesn't arrive at 6 weeks even though it might be a bit reassuring

newbieblue · 10/06/2015 19:05

Goulash no panic, but getting worried. I really wanted my first scan before I go Sad can't really tell the family if we won't check upfront. even if it's still early and everything can happen.
I guess I will be either lucky or I will have to pay for a scan before our hols. Annoying is that I told my GP 2 weeks ago already. Feels pointless seeing them before midwife in this case.
is the blood test as good as scan? or is it not good to do it that late? Can they split the scans for dating before and NT after our hols or it's naive to think they would have such flexibility?

elephantfeet · 10/06/2015 19:08

I have my scan tomorrow lunchtime...I am excited and terrified at the same time! DP is finally home tomorrow morning, I can't wait to actually be able to talk about this!!

newbieblue · 10/06/2015 19:09

heh I promised myself not to google things but I did the blood test for Down syndrome. I've checked the difference Goulash, thanks, you can omit my premature question ;)
