Sorry, I missed a whole page. I'm at work so will catch up later. Brummie, I really hope you come back because your tenacity and positivity have been inspiring.

GoulashSoup · 09/06/2015 15:39

Congrats blue, same EDD as me and you can't be far either. I may bump into you on the labour ward!

firsttimenewbie · 09/06/2015 15:51

Ahhh carlton your post about Xmas jumpers just made my heart skip... What a lovely and exciting thought!

surferchic41212 · 09/06/2015 15:54

Sweetcharlotte.. I did a cb digi and it said 2-3 week, and same day had first hCg test, which was 4841.. Next blood test tomorrow to check levels are rising. I have decided cb digi are designed to mKe you buy more!

newbieblue · 09/06/2015 15:56

Thank you rallytog1 :)

Yes, it's a brown discharge mostly when using the toilet. It's been 9 days now. Plus these mild cramps before period alike.. It does worry me a bit, specially that I'm not that young and it's a first one. I saw the doctor for booking appointment today. I mentioned it to her and she just went silent. No comment. She gave me a pack of useless freebies, promotional leaflets and number for the team of midwives. Apparently I can nly book an appointment with them between 8-10 week. So what about my questions, anxiety until then?! What if I needed an early scan?
Are we just left without any advice or medical control until we pass this horrendous 12 weeks dead line?!
I'm so disappointed.

I'm grateful for Mumsnet and alike. I'm so glad we can all talk and share our worries and joys here!

How do we get midwives appointments? I can't remember how I did it with #1...do you just get sent one once doctor knows??

MayFlowers16 · 09/06/2015 16:05

Welcome Newbienew. I'm also 37 Smile and due at the end of January, although dd was very late so not expecting this one to arrive until Feb.
Surfer I think the system varies, depending on where you are. I rang my doctors and they said to just come in and fill out some forms, no appointment necessary. Then the midwife will call me to arrange a booking in appointment.

Stepawayfromthezebras · 09/06/2015 16:07

Surferchic I spoke to the GP's receptionist and she booked me into a midwives appointment without me needing a GP's appointment first.

It's weird how it varies though - you're seeing your specialist and getting an early scan aren't you? All being well I don't get to see mine again and no early scan either Confused

newbieblue · 09/06/2015 16:13

Thank you May :) it's nice to feel I'm not alone! same for rallytog1 :)

Surfer I just had a booking appointment with a doctor that I self referred to. She gave me the number to call my "team of midwives" for the appointment on 8-10week. Apparently the midwife will be assign to me..not chosen by myself. I'm in Cambridge area.

jellypi3 · 09/06/2015 16:30

Without sounding mean I agee with Purdey, we are all worried at this stage that our pg will fail, and yes we are all here to talk about our fears but some of the posts on here have been quite distressing to read. I think we should try and keep it a bit more lighthearted. MC is a horrible thing but I am a very firm believer in not over stressing as it can do you more harm than good.

The bloat is back for me today. I've been drinking so much water, but it's not helping in the slightest!

I called my GP and the receptionist said the MW does home visits for booking appointments and booked me one for 2nd July. However... The receptionist that answered is MILs friend and although I'm sure she won't gossip (surely it'd break some rules of her job?) after we'd done chatting I did ask her not to mention it as we are keeping shtum till 12 weeks.

newbieblue · 09/06/2015 17:08

It all looks so different in different parts of the same country!

I saw a GP twice already.
First I informed her of my BFP , doctor didn't check or confirmed anything, just calculated my EDD and prescribed a blood test since I'm avoiding animal products. She said to see her in a week. A nurse told me that this should be a booking appointment , so I booked such with a receptionist.
Second time, today, on presumably booking appointment, I received a pregnancy pack, a number to call the midwife to book an appointment and then the doctor sent a letter to the hospital (she didn't explain what for). That was it.

I feel like I wasted my time twice and I still didn't have a proper booking appointment, since some of you write it is the one with a midwife and the purpose should be to book all scans etc.

I feel more disorientated than I was before meeting the doctor. I'm close to 7 weeks now and no info or help whatsoever. Angry

Boobear1983 · 09/06/2015 17:13

Stocking she will be bound by data protection so under no circumstances should she tell anyone. I had my first meeting with my midwife today. She was lovely although we didn't do much, just a health assessment and she will refer me to the hospital for a 12 week scan. She was very upbeat about everything and i found it a calming experience. She basically said why worry at this stage, as some other people have said, today we are all pregnant.

For those with anxiety, please see your gp about your anxiety, or even go private. I went to a private counsellor about my anxiety and they were brilliant and i even had hypnotherapy! Also there are many things we can all do to relax which can only be good for our growing babies.

Incidentally my midwife thinks a previous bleed i had when i came off the implant was probably a mc. I am in awe of all the ladies who have also gone through this, some mutliple times.

We all need to stay positive, that being said if something goes wrong for one of us, we'll all be there for support. If being the word there! Today we are all pregnant!!

newbieblue · 09/06/2015 17:20

oh Goulash I missed your post. Congrats to you too!! Flowers

Our paths may cross at some point. It would be nice, as I'm still quite new to Cam (1y) and to pregnancy ;)
It's such a nice and friendly thread here, I'm glad I came across it :)

SweetCharlotteRose · 09/06/2015 17:21

Brummie I am sorry if it's me that's made you go. I really really hope that this time you get your baby. Flowers

The trouble is purdie it doesn't feel
Unsubstantiated to me. I know other people have cb issues but I wonder if maybe they ovulated later than they thought? I know exactly when I ovulated. If you look online you will see lots of people who got stuck at 2-3 did not have good outcomes. More than those who did. I can't kid myself.

Anyway I will stop now as it wasn't my intention to upset a bunch of pregnant ladies.

ByeByeButterfly · 09/06/2015 17:25

Just looked at the stat thing and saw what details you needed.

Age: 25
Pregnancy number 2.

newbieblue · 09/06/2015 17:26

good words Boobear1983 !

You're lucky with your midwife, I hope we all will be.
May I ask if it was a booking appt referred by GP or you just called midwife directly? What week it fell on?
I'm trying to understand where I stand after my visit at GP today and before calling a midwife.

purdiepie · 09/06/2015 17:27

I can't speak for anyone else on the thread, but you are scaring the shit out of me.

Boobear1983 · 09/06/2015 17:31

I initially booked with my gp then he said i just self refer, so when i was there i just booked in at reception for an initial midwife appointment. I'm 5+5 today, they said I'd hear from my chosen hospital in a few weeks for a follow up and bloods etc.

SweetCharlotteRose · 09/06/2015 17:31

Sorry Sad

Lahottiereturns · 09/06/2015 17:35

Newbieblue just a note to say hi! I am the one crippled with all day long nausea and vomiting right now!

I too am not very young (39), I am due on 28 Jan (one day before you), and have had brown spotting and light period pains for the last 10 days...I also have done two viability scans and am delighted that for now I have a lovely strong heartbeat of around 135 beats per minute.

If it helps I had identical spotting with my first pregnancy and the result of that one is sitting with me right now shovelling figs with his chubby fingers into his chubby mouth. This time I have barely noticed the spotting as I have been here before. Lots can go wrong still, I am not naive, but you should relax about brown spotting. Brown blood is old blood is a cliche but utterly true. Most likely old implantation blood coming out.

Lahottiereturns · 09/06/2015 17:44

Purdiepie and brummiegirl...you are both core parts of this special thread, and names I always look for, and value, your contributions, when I check in. I hope you will both stay and keep sharing your experiences.

MayFlowers16 · 09/06/2015 17:52

Does, anyone else have food aversions yet? I have gone off nearly all foods already. My diet is normally pretty good (salads, veg etc) but all I can stomach are crisps, bread and pasta. Even drinks are off putting. I was like this a little with dd, but only from around week 7, until 11 weeks, and never as bad as this. This time it kicked in before five weeks. I said I wouldn't beat myself up about it, like I did last time bit honestly, my diet is atrocious.

newbieblue · 09/06/2015 17:52

Hello Lahottiereturns!
OMG it is so comforting to hear from you. Especially the part about chubby fingers and mouth and a heartbeat, it made me smile :)

I read online that most of the times spotting is fine. Your post relaxed me bit more though. I just got frustrated by non existent help or info from GP.

You had 2 scans?! how is it possible that I didn't even manage to speak to the midwife yet? They must have booked me wrongly at the GP then. And the doctor ignored my worries as well. I tried to call the midwife after seeing the doctor today but the line was busy and then it said it's closed for today(at 4.30pm). That leaves me uneasy till tomorrow.
Although I just read online that the screening tests mostly happen between 11 and 14 weeks. So maybe there is no point of rushing to this first 10th week dating scan? maybe better not to hear the heart as yet?
I really feel that I've been let down by my GP.. I shouldn't throw my worries and questions on the forum. On the other hand, I guess we are all here for support and sharing joy and worries as well.
