*but honestly. Sorry, posting on my phone while cooking a lovely, bland pasta 'n' sauce. Shock

Lahottiereturns · 09/06/2015 17:55

Chintaria, thank you for your earlier message to me in the last page. Yes, I have tried all the usual nausea and vomiting medications (including the powerful one that is called Zofran in the U.S., can't recall its name here). I have found none of them very helpful, just make me still feel sick and a bit more tired and spaced out.

But then someone on the Pregnancy board told me that while I was so dehydrated the medication wouldn't have a chance to help. If I got hydrated then I should try again. I have now had two huuuuuuuuuuge IV drips at a private clinic this week, so she suggested I try the medication again. Do you agree? Do you have any evidence that better hydration means the drugs will work better?

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

newbieblue · 09/06/2015 18:01

MayFlowers16 poor you! I didn't get to 7th week yet but I'm hungry every 2h! don't have any cravings nor aversions though. I'm glad that some sites recommend actually eating few starchy foods or carbohydrates as I usually were beaten myself up for eating pizza, bread etc ;)

and I feel sorry for all of you with nausea :( It didn't get me as yet, but I'm hoping ginger will help.

GoulashSoup · 09/06/2015 18:04

Flowers don't beat yourself up too much. More important to get calories in at this stage. Get a good pregnancy vitamin and that should cover the rest. I actually lost weight in the first trimester last time, I focused on staying hydrated and getting my vitamins in.

The spotting has started again here, all brown today so panicking less. That and the fact that breakfast and lunch were revisited which is making me feel very much pregnant.

Lahottiereturns · 09/06/2015 18:04

Newbie I paid for my scans (I live in central London and made appointments at the Fetal Medicine Centre myself; nothing to do with the rest of my maternity care). I suffer from bad anxiety and during my first pregnancy I had a few extra scans when I needed reassurance. It helped a lot and I plan to do the same this time...although I am not as tense this time around.

I am lucky enough to be going private (thanks to partner's health insurance), and my obstetrician doesn't even want to meet me until I am AT LEAST 9 weeks! So I don't think what you have experienced is all that unusual. I don't think my guy even considers me pregnant yet!! However once I have reached the 12 weeks stage I can see from the pack his office have sent me that I will see him fairly regularly; so if there is anything at all that I can ever ask him for anyone on this board if you are struggling to get the attention you need, please don't hesitate to ask. I mean that in the warmest, nicest way intended. I hope no one will read this as anything but a genuine offer.

MayFlowers16 · 09/06/2015 18:12

That's really thoughtful Lahottie. Sorry you're having a rough time with such severe sickness.

newbieblue · 09/06/2015 18:30

Lahottiereturns your post are very helpful. Thank you. I guess I'm quite anxious as well. and thank you for your kind offer!

Goulash we even share spotting! hahah ;)

wish we all be better soon!

IslaMann · 09/06/2015 18:41

Purdie FWIW I agree with you, reading about someone else's negativity towards this miracle is totally draining and extremely difficult. We all have our own fears and issues - as well as, in some cases, a complex history, but the constant negativity is very hard to deal with. But please don't let others misery breed misery in yourself. Today, we are all pregnant. Flowers

accidentaldancer · 09/06/2015 18:41

Hi lovely ladies,

I will try and catch up with you all over the next few days but welcome to all newbies and Flowers to all those who are feeling worried and/or ill.

I'm now back from my holiday in the sun having had a lovely week with my Mum. I did lots of sleeping (never have I been so tired!) and fortunately haven't been feeling too sick so far. 5+1 today and just booked my booking in appointment with midwife on 30 June. I suspect these 3 weeks will go very slowly!

Looking forward to catching up with you all.

surferchic41212 · 09/06/2015 18:42

Stepaway.. My situ is odd as I saw a specialist for my fertility issues (ammenhorea of a year), so was on clomid, and through him got follicle scans, so I've tended to go to him.. My go has organised early blood tests because of past issues, and we're paying for the early scan £95.. So that's why my odd situation.. I can understand needing to pay for early scan though- I'm pretty blooming appreciative of our local NHS.. My OH lived in South Africa when he was younger, and they get nothing! I know not everyone has a good experience of local NHS though..

surferchic41212 · 09/06/2015 18:46

On the positivity front.. I am bloated.. I take this as a good sign!! Got back from work and had to change into fat jeans.. Def belly..

newbieblue · 09/06/2015 18:55

surferchic on positive note: I'm bloated too :)
I look pregnant since BFP on 4th week. Only here I found out it's actually bloating not a pregnancy. my partner's mum thought I'm pregnant a year ago since I always had a sticking our belly ;)
thanks to this belly my partner really "sees" a bean growing there and we're both happy for now.
As we all pregnant today! :)

sending good wishes to all of you ladies Flowers and going to my relaxation meetings to hit some more positive notes!

jellypi3 · 09/06/2015 18:57

TMI alert but I'm so constipated :( it's really hurting now, I don't want to strain too much and risk tearing or hemerroids but it's been about 4 days since I last went. Pharmacy just said to increase water intake. If I increase it anymore I will literally burst.

teaandcake2016 · 09/06/2015 18:58

Hi everyone, I have been following everyday but been finding things a bit hard atm so haven't really posted. Been so interesting reading everyone's updates. I feel like I have a massive bump but I know it's only bloating. My appetite has gone, but I've found Im really specific about what I want- so today it was pizza for dinner because the thought of anything else made me feel so sick! Each meal I have is always a surprise now!

MoreCakeMoreCake · 09/06/2015 19:02

Surfer, me too with the bloat ... Pjs on here! I'm only 4+4, will be needing to hide the bump if this continues!

Stretching / niggling feelings again today which are nice in a weird sort of way... Anyone else have this? Seems a bit early to me but I've heard that with 2nd pregnancies your body gets ready a bit sooner. Or is that an old wives tale (no offence to old wives Grin)

MoreCakeMoreCake · 09/06/2015 19:04

Teaandcake we are kindred cakey spirits Grin

SweetCharlotteRose · 09/06/2015 19:07

It wasn't my intention to worry anyone else!

My personal feelings aren't a reflection on the outcome of anybody else's pregnancy. Most people have strong symptoms which is a really REALLY good sign and I feel confident you will have your babies in your arms by January / February time Smile

GoulashSoup · 09/06/2015 19:12

jelly are you taking pregnancy vits with lots of iron in? I think the iron can bung you up. For this reason I am giving myself days off where I just take folic acid, but taking Pregnacare with the nasty fish burp omegas when I can face it. Could you munch on some dried apricots or prunes, or even warm orange juice? I know they wouldn't be an option for me right now but if you can stomach it they might help.

RattyCatty · 09/06/2015 19:24

Welcome to the newbies & hope everyone is ok.

Does anyone else have little/almost no symptoms? I'm pretty much just tired & occasionally have sore nipples?! Trying not to worry...

rallytog1 · 09/06/2015 19:25

I agree with you all on the positivity front. In my last pg I was really anxious and struggled to feel confident that I would actually have a baby. Having this group and hearing all your stories and positive attitude is really helping me to feel positive and excited this time around. The fact that we're all scared and worried but are just trying to make the most of where we are today is just brilliant.

rallytog1 · 09/06/2015 19:27

jelly see if you can get lactulose. My constipation got seriously out of hand last time and I wish I'd got help for it sooner. Drinking water did nothing to help. See your gp if the pharmacist won't help you.

Raffertys · 09/06/2015 19:27

jelly I've just had my first poo in three days. TMI

surferchic41212 · 09/06/2015 19:28

Jelli-fybogel is your friend- from boots (and if it gets bad, Lactulose)..
And more cake I had stretchy feelings in the first week after bfp.. Felt a bit like period cramps, tbh.. But also like a stitch.. I thought it was just implantation.. But it's all symptoms..Grin

surferchic41212 · 09/06/2015 19:29

And ratty..I have no real symptoms at the mo.. Feeling bloated in evening- and I'm taking that as a sign..

Lamaitresse · 09/06/2015 19:34

Lahottie it's probably worth another try - it makes more sense that the medication might work better if your body is going to be more efficient at absorbing it, if you're hydrated then it might be easier. Have you tried Ondansetron? It's been recommended to me by the ladies on the Hyperemisis support thread, but my gp here (Belgium) won't prescribe it to me. It seems to be more widely known in the uk. Is that where you are? I took Chlorpromazine with dd, but the 20mg tablets knocked me out for hours. It was one way of getting through it, but with dd now being 16 months I can't risk falling asleep while looking after her. I too have tried pretty much everything in previous pregnancies, and whilst some things make it worse, chlorpromazine did take the edge off, and made it possible for me to eat and drink a little bit. I was still throwing up though.
How old is your ds btw? It's tough to be looking after a little one while so poorly!

Talking about going off food - I have been surviving for the last ten days on pita bread with Philadelphia. With dd I lived off chicken sandwiches for almost 4 months, so to anyone who's not able to eat much don't worry. The baby will take what it needs! Today has been awful nausea-wise. I managed to collect the kids and did a small and very slow trip to the supermarket but am knackered now. I was hoping that I wouldn't start vomiting for another few days at least, but I have my mouth clamped shut trying to keep it down Sad As soon as I have to speak I suspect I'll lose the battle Blush

Charlotte in case you're still reading the thread this pregnancy is natural, after having been told years ago that we would never be able to conceive again naturally. I had virtually no eggs left, and I have endometriosis. We thought having dd was amazing, but this just proves that miracles can and do happen.
