Congrats mrsfaz and ready great news for you both Grin
Can I get added to the stats?

brickiemum2 · 02/06/2015 14:30

Congratulations ready and yay for the good news mrsf

FizzyPinkWine · 02/06/2015 14:30

Oh god, I hate things like that, crumble. Also, car things that say things like 'Princess Evie on board'.
Or babygrows that say 'mummy's little star/soldier etc'. Basically anything with a slogan on it!!!

BlueEspoir · 02/06/2015 14:34

Great news Mrs Faz and Ready - very pleased for both of you!

While we haven't totally decided, I don't think we're going to find out. It's our first and we would love to have 1 or 2 more so really don't mind what we get this time! Also we redecorated our house last year so the baby will have a duck-egg blue nursery whatever the sex! The only reason why I really want to know is because I want to start knitting for it and certain patterns I love are definitely more suitable for a boy/for a girl. Maybe I should just start knitting for both scenarios - there are plenty of babies on the way in my friendship group so I'll definitely be able to find a home for my knitting!

OTheHugeManatee · 02/06/2015 14:38

Great news, Mrsfaz! And congratulations on scoring a BOGOF, ready! Wink

Blue DBean here is also getting a pale blue nursery regardless of sex. Basically I do the decorating in our house (DH doesn't have the patience) and I like blue, so the nursery is blue Grin

Chip86 · 02/06/2015 14:41

Yay congratulations to Mrsfaz and ready twins how exciting

Someone asked about travel systems, if baby falls asleep in the car seat you may not want to wake them up to put in the pram just a thought. And yes they can only stay in the car seat for two hours then you have to take them out, but after a bit they can go back in if you need them to, like on a long journey.

We will be finding out sex, would be nice to have a boy so then we would have one of each, but as long as baby is healthy not bothered, and have loads of girl clothes for her to wear.
I was not two worried about the pink thing and we have been given lots of lovely bright baby girl clothes, were as my SIL hates pink and everything they were given was pink Grin

fourlegstwolegs · 02/06/2015 15:05

Hello everyone, tentatively saying hello as its early days, I'm only about 5 weeks and very paranoid! I have a lovely 2yo DS and this pregnancy is very welcome :)

Oysterbabe · 02/06/2015 15:09

Hi legs!
I'm only 5+2 so you can sit at the back with me.

fourlegstwolegs · 02/06/2015 15:25

Haha Oyster, will do! :)

TeenieDeenie · 02/06/2015 15:35

Welcome fourlegs What's your stats and I'll add you to the google doc?

EdgarAllenPoe · 02/06/2015 15:48

I'm hoping no-one gives us a 'baby on board' sign for the car. I don't want to be ungrateful, but I know we'd never use it. They just annoy me too much. I always think, I wasn't planning on ramming into you, but since you've warned me there's a baby on board I definitely won't.

I realise I'm over-thinking this and they're just there because people like to share.

fourlegstwolegs · 02/06/2015 16:11

Thanks Teenie. 37, Have 1 child, EDD 26th Jan. No scan booked yet.

brickiemum2 · 02/06/2015 16:22

Edgar technically baby on board signs originated to let emergency services know that they needed to locate a child in the event of a collision. Not really necessary anymore with car seats I guess.
I'm not really into pink at all and hate frills etc so dd didn't have a huge amount of all that. Despite this she is the world's biggest fan of everything pink....she requires everything to be blooming pink and girly. She wants to be a princess when she grows up Hmm

BeeMyBaby · 02/06/2015 16:28

Edgar I thought the point of the signs was for the emergency services if there was a crash?

ready congratulations!

I'm quite keen on a girl as it would mean we virtually don't need to buy anything and will save hundreds (possibly thousands) throughout its lifetime clothes and toy wise...

My lmp was sometime in early March but as I range from 1-3 month cycles I decided amongst other things, that as I was just starting with the nausea I must be about 5 weeks (6 now) as that's roughly when I started to feel sick before, I also tried a clear blue and it said 3+ and the midwife was happy to go with my guess, they can correct the dates at the 12 week scan if needed and as I don't want a nuchal scan it doesn't really matter at this stage.

As for baby girls I don't mind if they wear pink as it reduces the number of 'is it a boy' comments and certain people constantly referring to the baby as 'he'. DD1 didn't get long hair (past ears) until she was about 2 years old so I depended on a little bit of pink in her clothes.

kep1979 · 02/06/2015 16:35

I'm another pink-hater here. I do however love the tights and pinafore dress combos so a girl would be quite novel. Boys clothes are better than they were. I have a nearly 2 year old niece and nearly 1 year old nephew so my sister has mountains of clothing for either sex. I got rid of all the baby clothes and stuff from the boys years ago, apart from their cotbeds which were eye wateringly expensive. Made an interesting conversation very early on in mine and dh's relationship when we were clearing out the garage of my old house and had to decide whether to keep or throw in skip!

loveulotslikejellytots · 02/06/2015 16:44

I'm another one not keen on all pink for a girl, but they had some very cute rompers and sleep suits in m&s in some lovely floral patterns. Some were bright colours but other we're in white and pink, they looked so cute!!!

Lilliana · 02/06/2015 16:46

Argh, I'm so tired and due to DD going to bite someone at toddler group this morning Shock she is not allowed TV time today. I really need her to sit down for 5 mins so I can too but nothing holds her attention for long unless I'm actively involved. We have been out for a walk, played in the sand pit and made gingerbread men this afternoon - bring on bedtime!!

FizzyPinkWine · 02/06/2015 16:57

Baby onboard signs are nothing todo with the emergency services. They were marketed as a means to slow other drivers down. I don't think they make much difference really. Although I've never used one! Don't know how to link on my phone but this website explains. qz.com/275987/you-probably-dont-know-the-real-story-behind-baby-on-board-signs/

goodnessgraciousgouda · 02/06/2015 17:10

ready what exciting news! You must be so pleased! There is a sub forum on mumsnet about multiples, in case you want to check it out for any tips later on.

On pink, it's not that I hate pink, it's just that I think it's so weird when some people find out they're having a girl, and it suddenly looks like a pink glittery unicorn wandered into their house and threw up everywhere.

Colours aside, I do think that clothes for little girls and baby girls are - in general - so much more beautiful than clothes for boys. The girls get such beautiful dresses, or any variation of anything, whereas boys get...jeans. Or shorts.

oneconfusedchick · 02/06/2015 17:31

Congrats on the twins! My DS is almost 2 and until recently he would regularly get called a 'she' - even if he was wearing clothes plastered in tractors lol! A lot of my friends have it as well! He def looks like a boy to me and sure as hell acts like one!

Oysterbabe · 02/06/2015 17:44

I'm not sure I'd be that bothered if people got my kids gender wrong, it's hard to tell for a while! Smile

Pink is ok in theory. I suppose I just don't like the way kids can be pigeonholed sometimes. You'll hear people talking to them about how they're a big, strong boy or a pretty, little princess. I want their personality to develop without me telling them what it is.

Lookingforadvice123 · 02/06/2015 17:47

Wow congrats on the twins ready!

I've had my booking in appointment with the midwife and she used LMP date (I have regular cycles). However the 2 early scans I've had between 8-9 weeks have dated me a couple of days behind - I'm sticking with LMP until 12 week scan though.

I hope it's a girl, but both dh and I are 100% convinced it's a boy, and really I'd be overjoyed either way- just want a healthy baby! I'd like 1 of each ideally.

Lookingforadvice123 · 02/06/2015 17:49

Oh and we're finding out the sex! Originally I didn't want to and dh did, but I changed my mind a few weeks ago and now I can't imagine not finding out, I'm desperate to know!

Wynsey · 02/06/2015 18:12

Evening All,

Well I've always said I'll find out - so far Hubby is saying No but he'll change his mind! Grin
My opinion is why wait until the end for a surprise when you can get a surprise when you're told at the scan?
I can't decide what I would prefer!
Yeah Brickie - me too! From drinking every weekend to nothing has been extremely easy but also made me lose weight and tone up! Woohoo! Xx
