Hay everyone good luck on today's scans please update us ASAP! For those discussing morning sickness- last week and this week have been the WORST for me (8-9 and now week 9-10) still lying prostate in bed at the min but just about to get in to get ready- shift starts at 11 not sure if I'll go in yet or have a day of recuperation-

fishermanswife1 · 11/06/2015 09:10

Good luck to those having scans today!!!
Blimey coffee that sounds confusing. Keep us posted!

My midwife records keep using MISS "maiden name" too, despite me changing my name with gp months ago and with the midwife at booking appointment 2 weeks ago. When I corrected them when getting some results last week, I had a row for not telling them sooner..... I don't know how many times I've already told them! Thank goodness all records are kept using nhs number!

10 weeks today. Feels like a milestone. Cracked and told a very close friend yesterday as she is also pregnant (26 weeks) and on the same hen do as me this weekend. I've asked her not to let slip, but feel now that I have a non-drinking, non-hot tubbing ally!

mrschatty · 11/06/2015 09:32

fish I bet that was a welcome piece of news for your also pg friend. She will be so relieved to have a friend over the weekend!! I'll be on my lonesome at my best friends gen do in aug- spa and night out so ill be sober and jacuzzi free!!

SleepyDragon · 11/06/2015 09:36

Fish and MrsChatty so glad i'm not on my own.... i too changed my name just after i got married and my NHS card and Number clearly show Mrs... i'll just take the card with me to all the appointments and keep pointing it out to people i think lol!

I'm either 9wk or 9+1wk today depedning on my app or my GP either way i felt sicky this morning but fine now (must be the chocolate croissant and iced skinny (29mg caffeine) coffee.

Definitely feel fatter and only wearing dresses around famliy who know as all of a sdden i look mahooosive in them - will be a whale!

SleepyDragon · 11/06/2015 10:45

On another note - i think my insides must be stretching out today i have very weird aches and pains lol!

moonshine25 · 11/06/2015 10:50

Oh sleepy I feel exactly the same, my tummy feels huge even though I know it just must be bloat. I'm looking forward to an actual bump though...

I think when I brush my teeth I gag because I feel like I've swallowed some toothpaste or saliva or something. So yuk!

Good luck for scans everyone, I have my fingers crossed! Got my booking in appt today, think it'll underwhelming but maybe make it feel more real!

loveulotslikejellytots · 11/06/2015 10:58

I bent forwards this morning to adjust my sock and I definitely found it harder! It's like a solid little ball there. Not massive but there none the less!

kep1979 · 11/06/2015 11:10

Morning all,

I went to bed at 7pm yesterday, I was so knackered. And this morning I feel rough, shattered and icky, and back to sucking on salty crackers. Having a bit of a panic, as when I went to loo there was the faintest bit of pink-tinged spotting - cue minor meltdown. So now I am back on knicker watch, and if I get any more I'm going to call GP to get me an appointment at EPAS. No cramping or pains, so really really hoping it is just one of those things..... I'm 8+5 today and logically know it is much more likely to be nowt than the worse, but it's only been 3 months since I miscarried and the memories have come flooding back Sad. Sorry for the downer post - I'm at work and panicking all on my own as nobody knows.

SleepyDragon · 11/06/2015 11:22

Hi kep don't apologise you've really no need to. I check every time i go to the loo cecause i am paranoid and considering your previous mc its not surprising you feel a tad uncertain and concerned! fx for you xx

moonshine i agree, i'm really looking forward to seeing an actual bump shape as opposed to just 'bigger' - thats the only good thing about dresses, it fools me into thinking there is a baby bump shape LOL

goodnessgraciousgouda · 11/06/2015 11:26

Morning all - so after saying yesterday that my morning sickness had pretty much stopped, I had a rather strong bout of it this morning! I think if I sleep too long I'm just too dehydrated in the mornings, plus the apartment is really stuffy and the stale smell makes me gag.

I'm 9 +5 today.

Not sure what's going on with my weight to be honest. I weigh myself before eating or drinking in the mornings, but level of dehydration must play a factor. This morning I was back down to just under 59kg, which is pretty much my pre pregnancy weight. There's basically a fluctuation of up to 1.5kg on any given day, which is a bit Hmm when trying to monitor!!

I definitely can't do up some of my skirts now though. Well, I can physically zip them up, but they make me feel so sick and cut into me, that practically I have wear them with a couple of inches unzipped.

Good luck everyone getting scans done today! How exciting!!!

mrschatty · 11/06/2015 11:34

Oh no kep please don't worry its normal and understandable you feel this way do soon after mc.
When are you planning on telling work?

kep1979 · 11/06/2015 11:45

Not planning on telling work until after the 12 week scan. I told my boss last time when I was 5 weeks as I was really worried about a mc as I'd had two prior chemical pregnancies. His response was "oh, well I suppose I should say congratulations" and then when he found out how early I was he said "why did you have to tell me, what if something goes wrong". We have a good relationship but he has the emotional intelligence of a sausage roll! Plus he would try to "protect me" by taking me off any work that was remotely interesting so that I "am not under any stress".

But today it is tricky - deadlines tomorrow and next Friday so if I said anything he would panic that I'm going to be off and do my tree in! I have already said I'm working from home tomorrow, so that's ok, and only need to get through another 5 hours as I'm doing the school run this afternoon. Struggling to concentrate though as I just want to go to the loo constantly!

melonface · 11/06/2015 12:00

kep you must be so worried, I know how you feel as I'm pregnant following a miscarriage too. Do ring your GP if it's worrying you, I'm my experience the EPU are very kind and supportive even when we're having meltdowns! (Mine even wrote 'V anxious' on my scan report!)

I can't seem to get enough of salt and vinegar crisps I'm munching through them like a right fatty but at least I'm still running so hopefully that'll keep the weight in check!

loveulotslikejellytots · 11/06/2015 12:03

Don't apologise for anything kep, that's what we're here for. Sadly a lot of others here have been in the same position, words on a screen offer no comfort when you've been through a mc before, but hopefully knowing we're all here for you will bring you some comfort Thanks

BlueEspoir · 11/06/2015 12:23

Kep I'm in the same position as you today. I had noticed a change in CM this week and had been trying to reassure myself that it was totally normal. But then I woke up this morning with a sharp pain across my tummy, which I have had on and off all day now. I've had a lot of cramping over the last 8 weeks so have tried not to worry too much but today's pain is sharper and, combined with the CM, has meant I'm back on knicker watch. Impossible to concentrate at work. I miscarried 3 months ago too - I have been trying so hard this time not to let the memories of last time turn me into a nervous wreck but today I feel like I'm failing on that front. At least I still feel sick, so trying to focus on that as a good sign.

Joey0805 · 11/06/2015 12:31

Kep - I'm not surprised you're worried given the MC, it is almost certainly nothing to worry about though, keep us posted.

I have my booking in appt too, it's at 14:30 so I am fx they're not too delayed - I really do have better things to do than hang out at a medical centre all afternoon waiting. Then, far more excitingly, I have my 10 week scan (and Harmony bloods) tomorrow, yay! Praying the date (now 3cm apparently) is growing nicely!!!

Joey0805 · 11/06/2015 12:42

Is anyone using a cream to prevent stretchmarks yet? If so ", any recommendations?

And, I normally sleep on my front. I know I won't be allowed to do that soon, any ideas about how to ease myself out of that (one of those funny pillow things??)?

mrschatty · 11/06/2015 12:50

joey I'm using Palmers stretch mark massage lotion it's really good and I had some light stretch marks on my legs (from puberty!!!) And they have almost vanished!!!

coffeenut · 11/06/2015 13:00

You can't sleep on your back Joey - as far as I'm aware you can sleep on your front as long as it's comfortable. I would often end up on my stomach most of last pregnancy. A u-shape pillow (or a long maternity pillow) that you can throw an arm and leg over will help keep you on your side though.

I think you'll end up with stretchmarks depending on your genetics and how much weight you put on (or how big your bump gets). I had almost none with DD1, but DD2 was large and I had a huge bump from early on and also had stretchmarks from about 28 weeks. Creams can help help keep your skin moist but I don't think they can prevent them.

Good luck with the booking in app and the Harmony blood and scan tomo!!

Kep so sorry you're feeling down and anxious, it must be awful Sad. It really is a good sign that you're still feeling sick though. I have all fingers crossed for you, & sending positive thoughts your way. If you need to get to the EPU, just do it - it's better to put your mind at rest than worry all day.

kep1979 · 11/06/2015 13:24

Haven't had spotting since, but worried sick so going to call the GP to see if they will refer me. I've had achy pelvis for a few days, so now I'm fretting that was something ominous. In my logical brain though I know it is probably just growing and stretching and nothing to worry about. Last time it all started over a weekend and was impossible to see anyone..... and we are supposed to be going away this weekend, so I would like some reassurance before we drive all the way down to Cornwall (from Shropshire).

Thanks for listening ladies, it is comforting to have you guys to worry at.

fishermanswife1 · 11/06/2015 13:49

Of course you're worried Kep, I'd say to try not too, but it's only natural. Especially with your recent mc.

Oddly enough a had a little pink spotting when I was 8+4 ish. I was worried but luckily had my booking in a couple of days later so had chance to mention it.

The midwife told me not to worry (yeah right) unless I was really cramping. But then we worked out it overlapped with when I'd normally expect my period if not pg. She said it was surprisingly common to just get some small spotting around that time. Are you around where you'd expect yours if not pg?
But I'm another believer in, if you're fretting, give someone a call. You don't want to be on knicker watch all weekend!

AlohaMama · 11/06/2015 14:02

sorry to hear you're worrying kep - hope you manage to get an appointment so you can put your mind at rest.

have now had 2 full days with minimal nausea so am hoping we are turning a corner. still exhausted though, nearly fell asleep reading stories to my DS before his rest time, but can't let myself sleep as so much to do!!

jmac88 · 11/06/2015 14:36

Fish I am 10 weeks today too!

The tiredness has really kicked in now. Had to stop cooking dinner half way through last night and just lay down as my legs wouldn't hold me up any longer, and today has been exhausting in the heat!

Just ate a whole melon, and could eat another already! Really refreshing and delicious, good for the bloatedness and apparently rich in foliate too. Bonus!

I've been using Palmers and bio oil but mainly because I already have some little red ones on my hips, not sure if that is normal...? I have heard it is largely down to genetics though, and how good your stomach muscles are! I think the advice to prevent them is mainly to stay hydrated and drink plenty if water. For those who have already had babies, they do fade after you've given birth right?

kep I hope everything is ok for you. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, sounds like others have had some spotting too xxx

crumble74 · 11/06/2015 14:44

kep It's all right to worry and fret about it, let off as much steam here as you want - we're here to listen!

Good that you're having a chat to your GP to put your mind at rest.

Just walked to the zoo. Super careful about applying sun cream to DS but have forgotten to put cream on self. Forehead is shade of beetroot AngryConfused. Not great.

SleepyDragon · 11/06/2015 14:44

Well i'm buggered then, i haven't had stomach muscles for years so i will resemble the tube map by the time i am done LOL

Is Palmers the one that make syou smell like chocolate?

i usually sleep on my tummy and last night it was really uncomfortable, i found myself whispering an apology to my JellyBean and turning over... my bra isn't half digging in today too, have the feeling i will have a rther sore red band mark by the time i get home from work.
