Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Another nightmare filled night and a 4am wake up. I was trying to get "the gold" to a safe place but was pursued by baddies (they were either zombies or vampires, it wasn't clear) and was running, climbing and breaking windows a lot. Weird. No idea where the gold came from!

And once i was awake i couldn't go back to sleep as i am still all snotty and chesty. And annoyingly dh was fast asleep however hard i tried to wake him up to give me some sympathy

Nausea back this morning, but craved weetabix and they made me feel loads better, which is weird as i usually hate cereal and milk. Last night i had super noodles and they were amazing, so i had some more for supper, and ended up feeling massively uncomfortable and noodle-y bloated! Still going to buy some more today Smile

I'm 8 weeks today, feels like a milestone!

ValancyJane · 06/06/2015 10:36

Had my scan date through the post this morning - roll on 15th July!!

On and off nausea is getting worse, I just want to eat carbohydrates constantly. Last night we went to the pub with friends, despite the fact I'd had tea I ended up dragging OH to the takeaway to get cheesy chips at half ten because I NEEDED both cheese and chips. Will be the size of a house sooner than I thought at this rate!!

Following on from the other night, I did end up telling member of SLT that I was pregnant, and she was fantastic about it - really nice and supportive and asked lots of nice questions (she's a Mum of two) and ultimately ended up saying she was probably still going to give me the Year 13 group I'd been worrying about, but really appreciated me telling her. She also offered to cover for me if I need to throw up at any point as her classroom is near mine, which was very nice of her. So overall I think I made the right call!

All this talk of pot noodles and super noodles is sounding yummy... I may have to buy some!! I am usually quite healthy and eat lots of salad, berries, avocado etc, at the moment I am just obsessed with carbohydrates.

On the dream front - mine have been more odd than horrible (one involved aliens the other night), hearing some of yours I hope mine just stay odd!

CubanoHabana · 06/06/2015 10:52

I had cheesy chips last night as well!

brickiemum2 · 06/06/2015 11:00

I've been having nightmares too, one of the wonderful side effects of hormones. Did anyone see the bit on the news this morning about the fact that the nhs is considering rolling out the harmony test across the board as a more accurate option than NF and so that fewer false high risks less to unnecessary amnios? They reckon they could cut amnios by 80%.
I still think I'm going to opt out of the NF part of the testing etc. I just wouldn't get an amino to diagnose down's no matter what risk it came back with. I'm not sure if that means that I'm then ignoring any testing for Edward's which is obviously far more serious and I would consider further testing for. I guess I need to be clear with the mw what it's worth testing me for. I think the only other test I'll tick consent for us hiv testing, purely on the grounds that I think that the mw's have the right to have proof that you are not posing any risk if things get a bit messy during labour (which in my experience they generally do lol)

kep1979 · 06/06/2015 11:30

Ooh cheesy chips sound good. I'm usually a salads/seeds/grilled protein kind of gal but carbs and cheese are required at the moment!

cubano good luck for your scan today

Dh told me about the harmony test, shame it won't be rolled out in time for us. My plan is to have the normal screening and if it comes back high risk then have harmony privately, rather than go straight for amnio. Dh and I have differing opinions on what we would do if there was anything wrong - so hope we don't have to cross that bridge!

Joey0805 · 06/06/2015 11:51

Carbs are heaven at the moment! I bought a big bag of Doritos this morning - I would never normally touch anything like that!

We're having the Harmony and are signing up for every test going; I'll be like a pin cushion by the end of it all!

mrsfazruns · 06/06/2015 11:57

I wouldn't have an amnio because of the risk ... A positive result wouldn't change anything for me so don't think the risk is worth it!! Amazing news that they are introducing harmony though

Lookingforadvice123 · 06/06/2015 12:00

Those who are having the harmony test, can I ask your reasons why, as it's so expensive? Not criticising anyone's choices at all I'm genuinely curious, I had never heard of it before this thread!

I will be having the usual NT test, and DH and I have agreed that if it comes back high risk, then we will have the amnio. It never occurred to me to have any additional testing.

Tonicandgin · 06/06/2015 12:48

Brickiemums-I'm the same re:NT test. And did the same last time too. There's no definitive and it only gives you a risk factor. I know a few people who got a high risk, wouldn't go for amino so worried all the way through their pregnancy. I didn't want to put myself through that.

impatientlywaiting · 06/06/2015 13:23

Early scan today. 8+5 so pretty much spot on for dates. Baby was 2.15cm, blows my mind it's so small!

Cubano hope yours went well.

TeenieDeenie · 06/06/2015 13:54

Kep Thanks Smile it helps there is somewhere to rant without getting the 'hormonal' comments or 'you're a bit spicy today' I nearly punched my OH for that one!! Also could not agree more with what you were saying about the absolute lack of extra care or checks in next pregnancy after a miscarriage, its very sad but unfortunately the whole experience left me realising that until you are into you are into your second trimester they're really not that bothered about you unless you kick up a fuss, and if you're bleeding what's gonna happen is gonna happen so you might as well stay at home. Very, very sad I know. This is just my experience of course.

MissMartin That's awful they've kept you waiting for 3 weeks, no wonder you're frustrated!

Phiz I see the midwife actually at my GP surgery for my appointments so not sure how it would work moving practices during my pregnancy but it's definitely top of the list for once little one arrives. With regards to complaining, I will leave that until I am actually leaving and explain why, but I really don't think they will care. I get the impression they have too many patients as it is and cannot quite keep up.

Looking yes one mmc in Dec discovered at 11+5. It was the midwife at the EPU that booked me in, not my midwife from my GPs if that makes sense. I haven't had my booking appt yet so not seen the GP midwife. I was just lucky that when I called to ask about being referred it was the same midwife from the EPU that discovered my mmc so think she sensed how anxious I was.

Weird dreams here every night too! They're very vivid and describe them to my OH every morning and he just laughs... Not good having scary ones though!

Out for an Italian meal tonight with two of my girlfriends. Know once I've eaten I'll be sleepy and bloated and generally just wanting my bed so can't see me sticking around to watch them get drunk afterwards ha ha!

MiniTickle · 06/06/2015 14:28

Have just had super noodles for lunch - oh my word they've never been so good! Grin

Oysterbabe · 06/06/2015 14:54
Grin Hope supernoodle are happy about this little boost in sales I've started.
Juniper44 · 06/06/2015 15:12

I'll have the nuchal scan and blood test, but primarily because if a genetic disorder were identified, it'd give me time to get my head around it. Also plan for after care in terms of extra help and nursery for DD. And find support groups.

If the baby had a chromosomal disorder that guaranteed it wouldn't survive post birth, I'd want to know as early as possible. I know that's a horrible way to look at it, but these things do happen.

I'm back in bed. Waiting for DD to fall asleep (she's currently 'losing' her dummy every two minutes) then it's nap time for me! I feel about 60!

kep1979 · 06/06/2015 15:14

Lol oyster

I have started knitting! I used to do a lot of knitting and cross stitch but have been lazy busy recently. But this morning really fancied starting something for baby. Can't decide on what to knit clothes wise as it does depend on gender (seem an amazingly cute dress) so started knitting a popcorn teddy bear Smile

kep1979 · 06/06/2015 15:15

juniper that is exactly my reasoning too, I'd want to be prepared.

AlohaMama · 06/06/2015 15:39

You're making me feel guilty kep. I knitted a teddy bear for DS and an owl for DD, but I really can't be bothered for this one. I really should, otherwise it will probably feel left out...

Joey0805 · 06/06/2015 15:44

Ah yes when I said every test going I did actually mean the risk free ones! Wouldn't do something like amnio unless there was a REAL reason.

Looking - we decided to do the Harmony because you can have it so early (at 10 weeks, results 2 after) and there have been some issues in my family so we just want to be sure there's no problem (and if there is, well then we can deal with it before the whole world even knew there was a pregnancy though we will have told immediate family before we get the results). That's just our view and we have absolutely no judgment on couples that make the decision to not even do the 12 and 20 week scans. Also, the package we got is for Harmony plus 2 scans (at 10 weeks then the Nuchal at 12 weeks) for £400 so WAY better price than anywhere else I've seen...

I already caved and ate a handful of my Doritos - "tangy cheese" yeah right as if there's any cheese in those bad boys. My foetus will be all orange from all the e-numbers (bad mother!). So cool that it's now a foetus!

Joey0805 · 06/06/2015 15:45

Looking - forgot to say, I'm only 32 so not super high risk but I think a lot of women 35+ decide to have Harmony just due to their inherently higher risk...

Lookingforadvice123 · 06/06/2015 17:21

Ah so some of you having the harmony test are worried about other disorders, not just downs?

Wouldn't normal scans pick those up though? Dh's friend's baby was unfortunately born with a very unusual chromosome condition, so unusual that the doctor's have never seen this particular combination before, and they don't know what the future will hold for the little fella, but they picked up the problem first off at the 12 week scan.

I just went for a lovely if windswept walk, then on the way home in the car I was actually almost sick. I've now just eaten loads of plain Pringles and feel much better. Tell me I'm not alone in this or am I destined to be a heifer?!

Lookingforadvice123 · 06/06/2015 17:24

Ps congrats on the scan impatiently!

kep1979 · 06/06/2015 17:47

Glad the scan went well impatiently

fishermanswife1 · 06/06/2015 18:21

Congrats on scan impatiently

CubanoHabana · 06/06/2015 18:37

Scan went well! I'm also measuring 8 plus 5 which is behind what I expected but will wait till 12 weeks to see! They were lovely there impatient thanks for telling me about them! Was really interesting listening to them being trained as well :-)

AlohaMama · 06/06/2015 18:44

congrats on the scans I'm so jealous. At this rate I won't get a scan till after I'm back from holiday by which time I think I'll be about 13wks. Looked into private but no where near by and they're more like £100+ rather than some of the bargains some of you ladies have got.
