I think it's just an automatically generated thing tbh. I hope so since I'm on a temp contact. They could just get rid of me I guess.

Hello Coffee Grin x

MissMartin1992 · 26/05/2015 10:51

coffee how far along are you now? Smile

ValancyJane · 26/05/2015 10:52

Welcome cotton :)

b&w Glad it's not just me - cat thinks it's ace to have a sleeping buddy! I slept for ten hours last night and will put money on having a nap later too.

Blimey and Orange Small world, how funny would it be if we ended up in the hospital at the same time! Glad I'm not the only Yorkshire lass on here :) I'm not 100% sure where I'll go yet, but am leaning strongly towards Harrogate (a friend had two really good experiences there and really rated it - and it would be easier to get to at rush hour than Leeds from where we are). I don't know why but (possibly wrongly) I have a really negative perception of the LGI despite never being there, and my Mum was in Jimmy's for an operation in 2009 and I wasn't massively impressed by the hospital, although to be fair it wasn't the maternity department. Might ask the midwife's opinion on Friday. I know it's so early to be thinking about it, but I know they're going to ask me on Friday so it got me thinking about the options.

brickie I'm also worrying over lack of symptoms today - have woken up with nada, boobs feel fine, no nausea, haven't had cramps in over a week now... I don't feel very pregnant today!! So it's not just you. The absence meeting just sounds like a box ticking thing though - I mean what can they say really?!

Also fellow cat-people, my cat is also sticking to me like glue, being much more gentle with me than usual (he's only ten months old so still play-fights a lot, but has stopped with me in the last few weeks), and brought me another bird yesterday and looked very pleased with himself.

Blackandwhitecat3 · 26/05/2015 10:52

Brickie that really is crap. Great timing for the scan!

Chatty snap! First MS for me too today. Glad it's gone now after lots of burping a bit of rest.

Blackandwhitecat3 · 26/05/2015 10:54

Valancy is your cat male or female? Sounds like "providing"! Love the cat stories

EdgarAllenPoe · 26/05/2015 10:59

Morning all.

My cramping appears to be (touch wood) subsiding. I'm getting a bit of on/off nausea but really not a lot. I've had a few tired days too so I feel I'm getting off quite lightly. I'm 7w+2 so clearly there's time for morning sickness to develop properly, but here's hoping it doesn't.

The only thing I'm finding quite difficult is the food. I really improved my diet about 6 months prior to conception (and lost over a stone which was sorely needed) and I had healthy eating down. Now I just don't fancy salad that much. I'm probably managing 2 or 3 of my 5 a day on average. I had plain noodles with soy sauce yesterday (at least they were wholegrain!) and nothing else for lunch. I really hoped not to stack loads of weight on as my BMI is still about 29, but oh well. It all feels a bit beyond my control which I'm not used to. I have anchovy and potato salad for lunch, a previous favourite. Let's see how it goes!

CubanoHabana · 26/05/2015 11:09

Healthy Diet completely out the window here!

mrsfazruns · 26/05/2015 11:12

brickie I read somewhere that pregnancy related sickness doesn't count towards actual sickness time and it would be against the law for you to be punished/discriminated for it!!

So after not running for 3 weeks decided my irrational fear of running causing muscarriage i went out this morning and did 3 miles!!! I just slowed down a bit but LOVED it .... Felt so good to be out!! Feel a bit nauseated though!!

As for furry friends ... Don't have cats but my dogs are being extra nice to me and cuddling up or just staring at me!!! Love them xx

TeenieDeenie · 26/05/2015 11:19

Welcome Cotton, my EDD is also 29th January Smile

Brickie that's nonsense, I feel angry for you! 1st absence was for a mc, which I'm not sure they can say anything about surely? Then 2nd one was for an accident that actually happened at work... Hardly taking the piss are you? These things are ridiculous, but no doubt someone, somewhere needs to tick a box saying they have spoken to you... Grrrrr...

Can totally relate to the healthy eating going out the window, we were away this weekend and I've had my fair share of unhealthy junk/takeaway food. Need to get back on track with some fruit and vegetables this week!

mrsfazruns · 26/05/2015 11:22

Heathy eating is the last thing on my mind at the mo .... I eat what I can stomach which yesterday was sweet chilli crisps and boiled baby potatoes x

TeenieDeenie · 26/05/2015 11:23

mrsfaz I'm also pretty active and like to run and go to the gym, but I haven't since I found out I am pg. I know all the advice says it's fine to exercise, but I'm just too scared...

Lookingforadvice123 · 26/05/2015 11:39

Wow busy last night and this morning! Welcome and congratulations to all the newbies Smile

brickie sorry to hear about work sounds stressful, but could it just be a formality? In my work we have a "trigger" system so if you have 3 spells of absence within 12 months, your line manager gets a notification from the hr system and you have to have a meeting with them. If the LM thinks you're taking the piss then obviously it's a good time to broach the subject, but usually it's just a formality as they know they were genuine absences. Fingers crossed for you.

Not long got back from my booking in appointment, 8+1 today! Dh wanted to come with me but he didn't have to be there really unless he has complicated family history. Got my booking in scan date, 25th June so still over 4 weeks away, I'll be 12+3 by then! Was hoping to have it earlier as I've been so anxious, either the Monday 21st when I would've been dead on 12 weeks, or even earlier! Shame Sad still undecided on a private scan in this case, going to just take each day and see how I feel. A big fear of mine right now is mmc, and going to the scan thinking all is fine and there being no heartbeat!

ValancyJane · 26/05/2015 11:49

b&w He's a little boy cat - an absolute darling too. Have told OH that cat is clearly outraged OH is not going out and hunting/gathering birds for me to eat himself, so has taken matters into his own hands!

looking That's my biggest worry too at the mo :(

parsnipbob · 26/05/2015 11:55

Looking I feel the same way about mmc, that's why I booked a 7 week scan, but I'm in two minds about going really. It's on the 11 June.

Lookingforadvice123 · 26/05/2015 11:56

edgar diet-wise in similar to you, always ate really healthily during the week before which is why I've always managed to stay slim despite pigging out on the weekends - lunches used to be salads with things like feta, cous cous, ham etc. Now I just can't fancy anything like that, have been having wholemeal pasta and pesto with salad in a bid to stay a bit healthy but when I'm at home on the weekend all I want is carbs stuff like sandwiches etc. The food aversions are one of the hardest things for me as I like to eat healthy stuff normally!

valancy it's horrible isn't it Sad and dh isn't being very helpful as he's sick of my negativity. I asked the midwife today how unusual it is, and she was very unhelpful just saying "it is unusual but it happens"! I was hoping she'd give me a a stat as I've been unable to find one, and I love a stat to reassure me! If anyone knows a stat on mmc at 12 weeks I would be very grateful, my research hasn't shown anything concrete. I'm hoping it's only 1% or something!

Lookingforadvice123 · 26/05/2015 11:57

parsnip when is your scan? I'm undecided on whether to book a private one. It's about £70-80 so not cheap and I'm worried it will cause more worry when actually there's nothing wrong!

ValancyJane · 26/05/2015 12:09

looking I think it's hard for OHs to understand how worrying it all is - my OH is lovely, but he's very practical and will only worry about things that are happening or are definitely going to happen - he doesn't dwell on hypothetical things that could go wrong in the same way I do!!

Am definitely going to book a scan to reassure myself, OH was in two minds (he's in the 'what will be, will be, and it won't change anything' camp) but I've swayed him, and when I mentioned it to his Mum and my Mum they both immediately agreed that it was a good idea :)

Getting myself in a bit of a tizz today over the lack of symptoms - keep randomly poking my boobs/nipples just to see if they hurt yet - if a neighbour looks through the window at the wrong moment this could get awkward!!!

coffeenut · 26/05/2015 12:22

hi miss - I'm 7+6 today - will be 8 weeks tomorrow!! Hope you're feeling okay.

valancy on the antenatal thread I was on for DD2, there were two posters who ended up in the same hospital on the same night Smile. They went and said hello once they'd realised! (post labour of course!!)

I've had a mmc picked up at a 12 week scan and although I have heard it happen to two others in real life, I think it is quite rare. I had a tiny bit of spotting in the day beforehand, so had some warning. I think it's better to have your scan at 12+ weeks rather than just on or before 12 weeks personally as I've heard of some who have had a scan at 11 weeks only to have things go pear shaped after that.

Is anyone considering the harmony test?

Welcome and congrats to cotton and numerous others I've surely overlooked!

MissMartin1992 · 26/05/2015 12:47

aww great coffee! Grin yeah im great thanks.. valancy - your dp sounds just like mine .. he gets mad when i Google stuff cz it makes my worry and he's so chilled! Smile

MissMartin1992 · 26/05/2015 12:56

Brickie i work for quite a big company and i was on an action plan as i exceeded the number of days were allowed off each year as sick.. we're allowed 18days or 3 periods within a rolling year (i had 23 days in 2 periods) but i was signed off sick by my doctor for 4 weeks with stress.. that was last aug and im still on this plan till the 12th july.. i had a super migrane the other day and my manager (she knows) offered to send me home - i didn't want to cause of my plan but she reassured me my plan will be put to bed now im pregnant and not to worry atall about any time i have off from now on as its a different type of 'sickness' strong laws protect us pregnant women. . good job i found this out add ive been up all night sick and haven't slept so i havent gone in. . they were great and just told me to take care of my self and asked when do i think I'll be well enough to return.

parsnipbob · 26/05/2015 12:56

Looking it's on 11 June. Costing me 99 quid but I don't mind paying that for peace of mind. Just not completely convinced it will actually give me peace of mind.

Another one here with a very practical DP!

brickiemum2 · 26/05/2015 13:16

Thing is I know they are being fuckwits illegal as miscarriage counts as maternity sickness, which cannot be used when calculating absence. Here the CAB makes it quite clear... www.citizensadvice.org.uk/scotland/work/discrimination-at-work/what-are-the-different-types-of-discrimination/pregnancy-and-maternity-discrimination-at-work-specific-situations/
But they are still saying that I have to go. I might give my union a phone later.

Hi Everyone, I've been lurking on this post for almost a week now, thought I would say hi!

I'm currently pregnant with my first every bean, NHS puts me at 5 weeks but counting the actual days since my last period I am 4+3 today, EDD 26th January, so it's super super super early!

I had some early spotting around the time AF was due but it seems to have gone, I just keep getting random pains and cramps which Dr. Google assures me is normal.

I've got an early scan for 15th June, when I will be 7+2 (or 8 weeks according to NHS) so fingers crossed I will see something.

I am straddling the Feb thread too because some sites are telling me my EDD is 30th Jan but NHS says 26th so I'll plant myself here for now and get advice from you much more experienced folk :)

Oh and hi Niff and Looking!

MissMartin1992 · 26/05/2015 14:34

hello jelly Grin Congratulations x
