Surely increased VE's will stop you relaxing and dilating! Very odd.

broodylicious · 17/06/2015 19:11

You don't need that negativity in your life, loopy. Bollocks to her! You do it your way and ban her from coming near. I've heard so many bad things this week about people who want to interfere or change women's minds on their choices - what happened to mums choice?! AngryAngry

MuddyWellyNelly · 17/06/2015 22:08

Haven't posted for ages. Congrats Lightgreen. Hope your little boy is home soon. I'm finding all these babies arriving quite disconcerting. I'm only 34+2 so a way to go yet but incredibly unprepared Shock. I've not factored in the possibility of an early arrival at all! BH are picking up a bit though.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

Clstow · 17/06/2015 22:51

Good to hear the hypnobirthing worked for you Nature.

I'm doing the Maggie Howell one Banana, I'm really hopeful it will make a difference as I'm quite in to mindfulness and yoga, but also open to an epidural so we'll see Wink

I'm only 34+4 Muddy and also nowhere near prepared, but keep telling myself most first time babies are late so I've got aaages yet buries head in sand

Naturegirl82 · 18/06/2015 04:40

clstow I used Maggie Howell to. The only tip I would give is download some extra relaxation music for labour as the birthing music CD is quite short so you'll end up listening to the same thing over and over.

Just wondering, did/has/is anyone buying a gift for older siblings from baby?? I'm sure I got DD a gift from DS, tho it was it Xmas I'm not really sure she noticed.

I'm just thinking whether to bother as DD will be 10, maybe still 9, and DS is 7. I'm not sure if they need that small token. X

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 18/06/2015 08:47

Yes I will be Charlie but DD will only be 20 months. I'm not sure she'll even understand but it will make me feel better! And hopefully give her something to keep her amused for the first couple of days/weeks.

fattymcfatfat · 18/06/2015 08:50

I'm not doing but this ones first teddy was bought for him by the older two. he has an elephant DD was bought a rabbit by my oldest and DS1 was bought a giraffe off my little brother. DS1 still has his giraffe and still cuddles him at night even though he is 6
DD loves her rabbit too! so hopefully DS2 will form a bond with nelly Grin

shs25 · 18/06/2015 08:53

Hi everyone,

I have to confess I'm a bit of a long term lurker, for which I apologise for.... Baby was a bit of a shock and I am now certainly doing on my own, so took a while to get my head around, hence the reluctance to commit to posting anything. I was wondering, now the reality is starting to sink in, whether I might be able to join you all?

Thepurplegiraffe · 18/06/2015 09:10

Welcome shs25 of course you can join, sounds like you have had a tough time. Great that you are starting to get your head round things.

I am another one getting something for dd but she will also be 20 months so the whole thing will come as a shock at first and any distraction will help me.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 18/06/2015 09:43

purple any ideas what you're going to get?
I've also being squirrelling away cheap little toys and books to get out in the early weeks when DD is fractious and baby needs a feed etc.

smallgreenbanana · 18/06/2015 09:43

Welcome shs25 - you're most welcome! Smile

MustBeLoopy390 · 18/06/2015 10:03

Welcome shs25, hope you are well :)
I'm doing a little present each for dd 6 and ds 3, just daft little trinkets and a book each. Dd still has all hers from ds and loves them so much :)

Thepurplegiraffe · 18/06/2015 10:07

Gotto we have got some cheap things like stickers, books, a soft toy cat etc but still deciding on the main baby comes home present and she changes what she likes every 5 minutes. We are currently torn between a pirate ship and a helicopter as these seem to be her current things, I am hoping they will get a lot of use as she gets into role play more.

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 18/06/2015 10:12

Thepurple that sounds good, I am considering a remote control Thomas the Tank Engine that she fell in love with in Toys R Us last week!

Charliej86 · 18/06/2015 11:58

DS happened to mention to OH that he wants a new character for his Disney infinity so think we'll get that. DD is another story, I'm struggling with her birthday never mind adding extra.

Feeling rubbish today, lay on the couch doing not a lot. Getting blurry vision & headaches. Have a sore throat and everything makes me feel sick. Just tried a nap and woke up choking. Bet your all sick of my complaining lately. Having a pretty bad week.

Thepurplegiraffe · 18/06/2015 12:05

Charlie I would have thought worth getting checked out with those symptoms. Could you give the mw a quick call?

Luckystar82 · 18/06/2015 13:00

I don't have children yet so not in with the present buying for siblings, but has anyone seen these magic water-pen colouring books? My 2 year old friend loves them and they keep him engaged for hours! He will happily sit at a restaurant table for 2 hours if his mum has bought one of his books.

I will definitely be stocking up for when my little one is old enough!

Luckystar82 · 18/06/2015 13:02

Sympathies charlie sounds like general under-the-weather symptoms but might be worth checking with MW. Hope you feel better soon

JoY007 · 18/06/2015 13:12

Hello Ladies, hope everyone is doing great and all prepared. I am
Now on maternity leave, really enjoying the time to myself. I had a lovely send of from my colleagues on Friday and I cried, will miss work and them. Sad

Midwife appointment on Monday, baby is still head down yay, not engaged yet, mw said 2.5 not sure what that means, lol! Did not bother to ask her, my BP was normal, urine clear and Baby heart beat strong - all that matters.

Think I am all prepared, but not sorted out my coming home outfit yet. Joined a local gym with a crèche so I can keep up my fitness till birth as advised by my personal trainer. Now catching up on Season 5 of Game of thrones Grin.

Hope those on mat leave are having a relaxed time. Looking forward to more BA. Smile xx

Charliej86 · 18/06/2015 13:46

I had bp and urine checked on Monday at hospital. Told them about blurry vision but coz all was clear they weren't worried. It goes once I've got some extra water into me. Sickness has been going on for last few months, think that combined with sore throat made me choke. Plus I was lay down.

Feeling better now. X

broodylicious · 18/06/2015 14:32

charlie, yes "baby" will be giving dd a little gift when they meet. Likely to be pop up pirate as we bought it her for Xmas but forgot about it (too good at hiding or just useless at remembering....?) dd has bought baby a little soft toy so I think it'll be quite cute.

joy, what does it say on your notes from your mw re baby being engaged? If she said 2/5 it could mean you're 2/5th engaged or if she's written "2/5th palp" it would mean she can feel 2/5th of baby's head (so effectively you're 3/5th engaged).

JoY007 · 18/06/2015 15:12

Hi broody the handwriting is so bad Hmm. She has written 4/5 in the engaged column.

broodylicious · 18/06/2015 15:15

That's great news! 5/5 is fully engaged - locked and loaded, ready to go - so 4/5 is almost there!

smallgreenbanana · 18/06/2015 16:23

Afternoon everyone! Smile Things are coming together in preparation for baby banana! I may have to change my name to "largeyellowbanana" Grin

I do wish people (lovely well-meaning strangers in shops, neighbours, etc.) would stop telling me "I'm sure you'll be glad when it's all over" and other similar things. I know they are just trying to find something nice to say, but really, I'm not in hurry (37 weeks) and I'm not quite ready yet!
