When are you due again, stinky?

OP posts:
Stinkylinky · 16/06/2015 22:13

7th July so a few weeks left still. 37 weeks today

Sherbet38 · 16/06/2015 22:28

Congratulations lightgreen, hope your little boy is home with you soon Smile

I had my 36 week midwife apt today and they referred me to hospital for pre eclampsia tests again. Spent 5 hours in the assessment unit, but all is OK, no pressure eclampsia. But have been given antibiotics for an infection.

I also have to go for a growth scan on Thursday as measuring small (although they suspect baby has just dropped)... and to top it off I have to see my gp for compression stockings (oh the glamour Wink) and for a funny rash in my legs. The most irritating thing is that because there isn't a gp appointment available for 7 weeks (!) I have to queue for a drop in appointment before 8am Angry

So an eventful day! Picked up takeaway on the way home [wi

jmojo · 16/06/2015 23:38

lightgreen congrats. Hope the lo is home soon!

Fattycow · 17/06/2015 04:45

sherbet, the gp hassle sounds so annoying!
I really don't understand the UK system for getting a gp appointment. Over here, if I call this morning between 8 and 9, my appointment will be today or tomorrow. Makes way more sense in my opinion, because how are you supposed that you'll be ill in 7 weeks time?

Congratulations Lightgreen x

Number3cometome · 17/06/2015 07:34

Congratulations Lightgreen!

I'm admitting defeat and having a couple of days off sick. My pelvis is so painful!!

Feet up and TV day today, also glad I don't have to get on a hot sweaty train!

jmojo · 17/06/2015 07:55

fatty the problem being that you are a little more discerning about what you call for if you havr to pay or your insurance is covering it. Here some people go fo every little thing so apointments get blocked. Also having direct acess to specialist appointments means In Panama if you know you need a cardiac check you go direct to the cardiologist. Same for digestive or anything else. So it frees up the general doctors for other things so they can diagnose and refer.

Sherbet38 · 17/06/2015 08:31

fatty it is a silly system. Some surgeries let you phone for an appointment that day, but not mine. I was at the doctors at 7.50am & the was already a queue of 12 people. But I'll be seen now at 9am. 7 weeks for an appointment is crazy, especially for pregnancy related issues.... when u don't still be pregnant in 7 weeks!

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 17/06/2015 08:33

Our surgery is pretty good, you can phone at 8.15am and get an appointment for the morning or phone at lunchtime for an afternoon appointment. If it's non emergency it's a couple of weeks.

smallgreenbanana · 17/06/2015 08:36

lightgreen Congratulations! Lovely news. Glad you are well and your little boy will hopefully be home soon. Smile

Not sure if it's the iron tablets or being on maternity leave and not having to commute for 4 hours a day Hmm but I've got so much more energy. Must make some time to relax and practice my breathing techniques. Anyone else doing yoga or hypnobirthing or similar?

Naturegirl82 · 17/06/2015 10:27

It really depends on your area and gps as to availability of appointments. Mine you can get same day appointments or pre-book up to 2 weeks in advance. Can also book online which makes it a little easier.

Naturegirl82 · 17/06/2015 10:28

Congratulations lightgreen hope you all get to go home soon.

ohlordyplordy · 17/06/2015 12:27

Congratulations lightgreen. Lovely news x

Clstow · 17/06/2015 13:53

Congratulations lightgreen, hope LO goes home with you soon. So exciting that the babies are coming!

Banana I'm doing yoga and hypnobirthing - well at least I've read the book and been listening to the CD. It's hard to know if you're doing it right. I think someone on this thread was a bit of an expert though... Was it you nature?

Naturegirl82 · 17/06/2015 14:00

clstow not an expert no but I did use it for my labour with DD.

LostSoulsForever · 17/06/2015 14:52

Hello ladies! I have been reading the thread but not posted for AGES. I can't believe we are at the point where we will all soon be at term, and babies are already arriving. Congratulations to all those who have had theirs already - I hope everyone is doing well.
I am now on mat leave & will be officially unemployed in a few weeks as my temporary contract will come to an end. Need to look in to the minefield that is maternity allowance.
Is everyone sorted with hospital bags, nursery organisation etc? We still have a few bits to do but have a few weeks to go yet...

Clstow · 17/06/2015 15:55

Did it work for you Nature? Will you be doing it again? Any tips?

Hey Lost - I'm definitely not at all sorted. Am due towards end of July so keep telling myself I've got heaps of time to buy things, organise things, wash things... Hmm

smallgreenbanana · 17/06/2015 15:56

Hi lost nice to hear from you Smile Glad you have joined the ranks of the ladies of leisure!! Hospital bag almost done and nursery just missing a carpet (got 3 different green carpets to choose from).

nature How did it work for you?

Clstow Which hypnobirthing guru are you following?

LostSoulsForever · 17/06/2015 16:29

At least I am not the only one who isn't totally organised then! By this time with my first I had everything done. With this pregnancy we haven't even figured out what the sleeping arrangements will be once she moves out of our room!
Bought a lovely change bag though, spoiled myself with it really, and in the process of packing that in case I need to go to hospital (hoping for a home birth). Feel free to inspire with lists of what I need as my mind is foggy & refusing to clear ;)
I haven't tried hypno-birthing or yoga but a girl at work swears by it - said it was amazing. Think if I had a third (!) I would definitely try it.

Charliej86 · 17/06/2015 17:09

Full on baby preparation this week. Just sorted all the clothes we have putting them into their new home. Found we have had an oversight on 0-3 size outfits. We have lots of vests a few sleepsuits and only 2 or 3 outfits. We didn't buy as thought people would buy that size for baby shower. Oh well shopping for me.

MustBeLoopy390 · 17/06/2015 17:47

Congrats Lightgreen :)
I seem to be slipping off the grid both on here and off now I'm getting closer to birth! Home visit appointment today and we have our birth box and I'm officially allowed home birth as of Tuesday 23rd! Midwife has once again only focussed on the negatives of homebirth but imo can stuff it as we're specifically requesting she doesn't attend :) particularly when she's insisting that I have at least 1 VE per hour in labour and that I climb out of the birth pool once every 15 minutes to be monitored otherwise I will have to transfer! I'm practicing natal hypnotherapy and can say it's been helping with my chronic back pain so I can see it really helping during labour etc. haven't got our changing bag yet, or fully sorted everything but I'm sure it'll be fine :) need to get rid of dining table and chairs this week as they are just in the way and we could be moving in the next 4 weeks :) cannot wait! Sick of ignorant, loud, inconsiderate neighbours!! Good to see everyone is ok, and I hope it stays that way too!

Naturegirl82 · 17/06/2015 18:55

I used natal hypnotherapy and I think it worked. I was 5 cms dilated when I turned up at the hospital had DD 3 hours later and even though I was only in for that short of time I was so relaxed I managed to fall asleep for a bit! I also think it helped me cope with DD being taken down to nicu almost straight after birth (unexpected). My contractions had started at 11 am but I spent the day walking the dog and sorting things out at home so it was all perfectly manageable.

I'm definitely doing it again this time as it can't hurt. Listening to the CD really relaxes me as I feel like I've fallen asleep but I always know when it gets to the end of the track so must still be listening.

Naturegirl82 · 17/06/2015 18:57

must why on earth would she be insisting on hourly VE's??? Seems very odd. In my mlu they will only do them every 4 hours (with consent obviously) but no more frequent unless you request one but that then starts the 4 hour clock again. Seems like a good idea to request she isn't there.

MustBeLoopy390 · 17/06/2015 19:05

Because I had trouble dilating with my other two (we think it was the stress of the situations) and she doesn't want to take the risk of me being in labour too long. I think it's shocking how she's trying to twist what we were hoping for into a potentially more stressful situation than a hospital delivery for me (I go cold and sweaty when I pass the place let alone go inside)
