Lovely to hear about everyone's weekend but sorry to hear about certain discomforts!! Is anyone getting restless legs? It's been a bit annoying these last few weeks later in the day whenever I'm lying down or relaxing on the sofa. I often feel better keeping active or on the birth ball. We don't really know what causes it right?

Birth centre tour tomorrow. Looking forward to it but still really wanting to plan a home birth, if I can persuade DH. I think M and MIL will be horrified but I don't care - I know my best chance for a good outcome is to keep very calm and relaxed for as long as possible.

broodylicious · 07/06/2015 20:10

small, I've been suffering dreadfully from restless legs and feet for months. It is often linked to iron deficiency and funnily enough since being on iron supps, it's been vaguely better. Have you tried a glass of tonic water before bed? It's supposed to help with all types of cramp. Marginal improvement for me again when I have it. Try to avoid all caffeine too, which I'm sure you are doing anyway, as that can make things worse too.

Number3cometome · 08/06/2015 07:24

Seeing the registrar this morning. Consultant has left notes for booking in my csection date but I don't hold out much hope seeing as last time she was more concerned about talking to me re: contraception.

I understand I am a high risk lady, but I managed 7 years on the pill before so I think I'll be ok Wink

Stinkylinky · 08/06/2015 07:30

Good luck today number3.

I've got a scan this morning to check on baby's growth as my bump is measuring small. I'm not too worried as I'm quite tall and thin so think it's just the way I'm carrying, I was also a tiny baby (5lb) at full term and I have been fine

charlieis30 · 08/06/2015 07:36

Morning all! Spent the weekend just enjoying the sunshine with DH, taking lots of long walks, putting up the artwork in the nursey (which is now done, yay!) and having DH build the stroller (a BabyJogger City Mini if anyone is interested).

I'm feeling pretty ready for everything now, but still got 7 weeks to go!

Aretepetite · 08/06/2015 08:56

Good luck number. Hope you get your date.
And stinky, hope your measurements are all correct.
Been up since 4 due to pain in bottom Blush I would not wish it on you fattym or anyone.

Fx I can get an emergency gp appt or a prescription left as the over the counter remedies just ain't helping Sad

I'm glad you haven't experienced it fattym.
I would not wish this on anyone .

Your weekend sounded great Charlie

Never had restless legs (thank goodness) famous last words mind.....Confused

Have a good week everyone Smile

Fattycow · 08/06/2015 10:36

mcfatfat, I was lucky enough to get a box of maternity clothes for free. They are a bigger size than I normally am, so they actually still fit. I even got a pair of jeans with them that falls of my arse, as it is so big! It made my OH laugh a lot to see my smug smile when I came downstairs in those jeans with a belt to keep them up. They do look nice on me though, so I'm happy. Smile

Ohh number how were u after jacuzzi? All guidelines say not to use them when pregnant (not that I'm one for sticking to guidelines) were gettin my cousins hot tub for dd's bday, he has read through the book it say pregnant women aren't to go in and children for a limited time. We're just going to turn temp down abit. I'll be 39weeks when we have it.

Number3cometome · 08/06/2015 12:08

Charlie - I don't have it hot, just like a nice warm bath. As long as it doesn't make your skin red it's fine. It is so nice and the only time my SPD doesn't hurt (although getting out hurts!)

Registrar was fine, got the date I wanted for my csection but also got protein and ketones so I've had blood tests (managed to pop my vein so I'm all bloody now!)

Off sick today so going home to rest. Have to call MAC later, I'm sure it will be fine.

Sorry for the piles pain Arte,it's horrid isn't it Confused

Stinkylinky · 08/06/2015 12:18

Scan went fine, baby is actually measuring big not small!

DP thought he's balls were his face, poor ladBlush

smallgreenbanana · 08/06/2015 12:22

stinky hope scan goes well arete hope you manage to get some relief!

My iron levels have fallen to below the threshold so what you said about iron and restless legs might be right broody I'm going to try the liquid supplements as I don't want constipation from the tablets, no way.

Birth centre tour was not as fun as I'd hoped - I actually burst into tears and DH had to give me a hug. He really liked the room as it was clean and would contain all the mess he imagines will come out! I found the clean smooth surfaces and scrubs of the midwife really medical, uncomfy and upsetting. I know when I'm in advanced labour I won't care about any of that but the thought of it compared with my nice safe homely house was quite a shock. She went through all the stuff about pain relief and all I could think was stop saying the word "pain"!

Time to pull myself together and go into work.

fattymcfatfat · 08/06/2015 12:37

fatty my mat clothes were given to me aswell, by my size 20 friend, I was a size 14 so my belly has obviously grown a lot Blush there were no jeans in with the tops though, I had to buy them and they still fit so that's ok Grin

Aretepetite · 08/06/2015 12:39

Thanks all - gp appt tomorrow morning so off to pharmacy to try germaloids for tonight.
It is so so sore Sad and the lack of sleep coupled with hormones is making it feel like twighlight zone Confused

Right big girl pants with strategically placed ice pack on and continue on !!

SparklyPenguin · 08/06/2015 13:21

Ouch arete hope the cream helps!
small my restless legs got a whole lot better after I started on iron tablets (my iron was 9.3 at 28wk blood tests) and luckily I haven't had any constipation either, though I still get a few leg cramps in the night. Good luck!

Stinkylinky · 08/06/2015 13:44

My glucose levels are really high so going in for tests tomorrow Sad

charlieis30 · 08/06/2015 14:38

Just ate half a tub of ice cream and a chicken sandwich for lunch, wouldn't like to see my glucose levels now!!!

Charliej86 · 08/06/2015 17:40

Oh can't wait for hot tub now. We've been joking on that I'll be giving birth in there.

Scan to tomorrow and consultant appointment. Not sure what will be said but hoping for a weight. Last shift at work on Wednesday so plan on packing my bag by weekend as been putting it off.

I think bump has dropped a bit, I carry low anyway, will ask OH when he gets home. Mw did say last week he was right on brim but could dip in and out with being no3.

charlieis30 · 08/06/2015 17:55

For those who've had kids before, what actually happens in the hour or two after birth? I'm basing everything i know on One Born and they stop at that bit! Grin
So ideally the baby comes out and gets put on your chest, then you labour more to expel the placenta (either it comes or you get the injection?)
Then what? Do you get any time just to hang out and rest in the birthing room before you get sent to the ward? I'm sure it all varies on which hospital, what time of day etc., but very generally what can I expect? When do you have a shower and change into other clothes, consigning your primark nighty to the bin? Smile Do you normally have your baby in their plastic bed next to you on the ward or do they go somewhere else?
Thanks!

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 08/06/2015 18:25

Charlie we were discharged within 4 hours but those hours went something like this...
Skin to skin with baby. I delivered the placenta and was stitched up while DH held her/had skin to skin. We were left to it for a bit with baby while the midwife went to fetch tea and toast and ran me a bath. Fed baby (bf). I had a bath, got dressed etc. we got DD dressed (harder than you think the first time as you're scared you're going to break them!). They waited for me to do a wee to check it before they could discharge me. Lots of cuddling baby then we went home! DD never actually made it into the little crib think provided.

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 08/06/2015 18:26

Oh and we didn't make it to the postnatal ward as we went straight from from delivery but on the ward the baby will stay with you in it's crib.

charlieis30 · 08/06/2015 19:26

That sounds lovely grotbag! FC mine goes something like that!

broodylicious · 08/06/2015 19:42

charlie, mine was not that perfect. Had dd at 11:18, she had to be checked (still in room though) as I'd had polyhydramnios, I birthed the placenta relatively quickly, had skin to skin, passed her over to dh while I was being stitched up. After ages of stitching (even though it was only a small episiotomy!), I had dd back and bf for the first time. It was about 1:30pm when lunch arrived, while I was still in same bed with same yukky clothes on. Got her dressed and we just held her rather than putting her in the cot. About 4pm, I could go shower. Kept on having my temp taken but still in room, not on ward. Wasn't offered any more food so was unbelievably weak. Finally transferred to postnatal ward at 7:40pm where my folks who had travelled for more than an hour to get to us and had been waiting outside since 6:45, were able to see us. then nighttime hell of very noisy ward started once they'd gone Needless to say, this time I am pushing to be discharged ASAP (providing baby is ok of course!) and will be kicking off if I'm left anywhere near that long in a delivery room.

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 08/06/2015 19:56

It was fab. I'm really hoping for the same again but obviously it might not be possible, and it's a different hospital so i don't know their discharge policy. Fingers crossed though! DD was born at 4.13 and by 9 I was home with a glass of champagne and a home cooked dinner!
