mine weren't that ssimple either. with both of mine I've had to be trtransferred to the ward as I was unable to have same day discharge. with DS I had prolonged rupture of membrane and a lot of bleeding so had to be kept in to make sure no infection etc. but they stitched me up while my mum had DS (I was too weak to hold him on my own) he was then dressed and given his first bottle by the mw. I was sent for a bath and wheeled to the ward where I was kept for two nights. he was born at 5 past 6 at night.
with DD she was born at 10.28 in the morning but again I had to be kept in due to infection risk as she pooped inside of me so meconium in liquor. but with her I didn't need stitches and was able to have cuddles and dress her in my own time, and give her her first feed then toddle off for a bath and to get changed then walked to the ward and lucky me got put in a private room as the bays were full Grin

Charliej86 · 08/06/2015 21:03

I had section with dd, I didn't get to do much with her. I remember being in recovery room longer than usual, she was born 10:32am think I moved on to ward around 7/8pm. To be honest I don't remember a lot of that time. I wanted to be moved to mlu in different hospital tho and was moved there next day when I could prove I could use toilet.

DS was natural born 9:07am Xmas day as I was being stitched dad and baby went for first photo shoot (being Xmas day the local paper was there and he'd just made it in time) I was able to shower about an hour or so later, mw watched baby as dad had popped home for Xmas prezzies. We were home around 6pm eating Xmas dinner. He did manage some time in his cot thing tho.

DD wasn't simple either. Born at 1.28am. I got to hold her for about 30 seconds before she was put back on the resusitare and whisked down to nicu. I was left in room alone for a while (Dh went to nicu), given tea and toast and then had a shower. Got to go and see DD about 4am then I was transferred up to the ward at 5am (luckily all private rooms as I was in for 4 days). You can be discharged straight from mlu at my hospital though so hoping for a simpler time with this DC.

Morning ladies,

Well you know how I said I wanted a lazy weekend before a mad week at work this week...

Friday night I got caught up in work to do with major ofsted inspection. Then sat on my laptop working til midnight.

Monday morning saw a response email in which someone whose responsibility it is to write an important annual report almost blame me for not doing it (I had only got involved as someone asked me to help as her 6mth interim report was crap)!! I carefully replied setting her straight but saying let's try and cobble something together asap. I've only worked there a yr (she's like 15yrs in her post) so pretty sure she did it every yr before I turned up!

Ofsted need it in less than a week fir a meeting next weds! Said women is out office til Thurs I think. I have 13 working days left, my own stupidly busy job to do, no one to hand over to, hand over notes to finish, a project to manage that's on the corporate risk register etc etc. But cus I'm so helpful I now gonna try squeeze in 'supporting' writing this urgent report!

I was on emails til 10:30pm last night, then still awake at 1:15am having not slept as brain was in overdrive. Woke at 5:30 ish. Bout to leave for work now. After crying at MrF for saying I was shovelling my cornflake breakfast (I totally was, with milk dribbling down face etc Shock !).. I'm tired don't care how I was eating!!!

Think the final few weeks at work might stress me out a touch, as I really don't like leavingbthings unfinished - but nowt I can do really can I!

Anyway mega vent over!!!! Angry Angry Angry

Will have your read dveryones news to catch up! Grin

smallgreenbanana · 09/06/2015 08:55

Morning MrsF I don't blame you crying over your cornflakes - sounds like a rotten time at work! And not enough sleep affects us more than other people. How annoying! Angry Pregnant ladies need to be calm and everyone should give them a break Smile Hope you can try and take it a bit easier soon.

I'm fed up with work but at the same time I am not looking forward to leaving either. I will be a bit lonely I think while I wait for LO to make an appearance. At 4am this morning (usual insomnia time) I was thinking about joining Facebook, that's how worried I am!!

Thepurplegiraffe · 09/06/2015 10:21

Small someone on my previous group didn't join for a while but then created a private profile which she just used for the group. Now she is one of our busiest posters!

Fattycow · 09/06/2015 10:21

Tomorrow it is three weeks until July! So the first of us will be term tomorrow! Shock

Number3cometome · 09/06/2015 10:59

What are you classing as term?

According to my baby app 39 weeks is term.

But i've heard others say 37.

NHS website says 37 weeks.

Well confusing!

DS was born on his due date, and DD was 38 weeks exactly.

I'm booked in for 39+2 for my csection as I didn't want to risk 38 weeks again - DD had stomach valve issues and jaundice.

I am feeling pretty crap and scared about having a GA for my section now it's booked.

Naturegirl82 · 09/06/2015 11:46

number I think term is considered 37 weeks+

Hope your day isn't going too badly.

Number3cometome · 09/06/2015 11:57

It's been ok actually! The SPD has calmed down, and I got a free cappuccino in Pret. Not that I even like coffee, but one of my colleagues thought I was being friendly ha!

Fattycow · 09/06/2015 12:23

37 is term.

OP posts:
broodylicious · 09/06/2015 12:51

There's been some recent changes to the whole "term" debate recently, number. If your app is American, it'll say 39 weeks is term now. Nhs still stick to 37 weeks though so do I because it means I've got three weeks, not six, until I can safely have baby without probably having the heartache of long hospital stay!

Number3cometome · 09/06/2015 13:00

Ah yes it's an American App! That explains it.

Mind you, you say about hospital stays, but our twin lady is home with babies now and they still aren't term.

It is pretty amazing now isn't it.

I am hoping baby does not come before my csection date, DS was born at 40 weeks exactly and I went in to labour at 39+5.
This csection is booked for 39+2 so cutting it fine.

Although it is the date that me and OH wanted (for various reasons) so I am very happy spoilt

Now if the SPD would fuck off until then that would be marvellous.

Baby was 'free' last week and 5/5 this week. Not sure that makes any difference for a third baby.

broodylicious · 09/06/2015 13:34

Very good point, number, I'd forgotten they wouldn't even be anywhere near term yet! Well, that's hope for me thenSmile What happens if you go into labour when you've been booked for a cs under ga? Will it effectively become an emcs? Sorry, hun, I know you're worried about it, so don't answer if it's going to stress you xx

Number3cometome · 09/06/2015 13:43

No it's fine! It was the question I asked yesterday. Strangely I find it helps to talk about it more.

She gave me a list of the following and said if any of these happen to call up and say I am booked in for an ELCS but have had 2 previous sections and am a GA patient and they will bring me in immediately for a CS:

*Bleeding
*Contractions
*Water leaking
*Reduced movement
*Scar tenderness

But i'm telling this baby to behave and stay put! Grin

Fattycow · 09/06/2015 15:12

I'm experiencing period like cramps... Shock

OP posts:
Number3cometome · 09/06/2015 15:33

Fatty

How regular? how long for?

Sometimes I wake up feeling periody and crampy, but no actual contractions.

fattymcfatfat · 09/06/2015 15:35

same here. but they don't have a pattern or set time between them etc so I've just put it down to bh.

fatty if you can time them then just keep an eye on them and how strong they get. if not then I wouldn't worry too much

Fattycow · 09/06/2015 15:36

They seem to have gone now, but I think it was for about 45 minutes every few minutes. Not really all that painful, though. I think my body is just getting ready for the real work!

OP posts:
Fattycow · 09/06/2015 15:37

And I'm not worried. I'll be term myself this Friday, so if baby does decide to show up a bit earlier than that, I'm sure it will all be fine. It would just mean I cannot have my home birth, but so be it.

OP posts:
Charliej86 · 09/06/2015 19:39

Had scan and saw consultant today. He's still on the big side but not enough to be concerned, he's even levelled out abit. Approx weight now is 6lbs 1oz. No reason to go back to consultant unless we're still here at 41 weeks.
Then we'll be in for examination, if there's no dilation it'll be a csection. If there is they will put me on drip and break waters.
Really don't want a section!!

charlieis30 · 09/06/2015 20:04

How exciting fatty... I've been having cramps, sort of like period pains or some of the cramps I had 1st trimester. I've but it down to pre-BH. Getting excited though!

Baby has jammed some part of herself under my right rib, it feels to me like she's lying at an angle right rib-left hip. I've got my 34w appt Thurs, can't wait to find out how she's doing. FC she's not breech.

charlie great your appt went well.

Dropped into Primark Ox St this evening (why oh why??) and bought a couple of nighties and a thin robe for labour/hosp. The prego line-skip is real! They grabbed me out and took me to the next available till. All the tourists were shooting daggers but I don't care Grin

Thanks all for the replies to my post re after the baby's born. Sounds like it's the luck of the draw, both in terms of how your labour has gone and what hosp policy is. Nice for me to have some more info, so thanks!

MrsFbabyNo1 · 09/06/2015 20:18

Thanks Small, Had a lovely day at work in the end!!! Do love my job. It's my own fault for trying to be too helpful and wanting to wrap everything up before I leave. But in my job things take years to sort, so wrapping things up in just 13 working days now is never gonna happen! So I've decided sod it - do what I can then leave it to others!

Fatty keep us posted then! I get plenty of hicks but def only random at mo.

I hope to get to 37 weeks or else mlu won't allow you to go there. Got an apt there this Thursday at 35 weeks as a birth birth formal check / visit (? discuss birth plan).

Really interesting to hear the stories of what happens for the hrs after birth, good Q Charlie!!

Other Charlie re hot tub, I still have a lovely hot bath (have all way through) and it's probably a 5-8min dip total. So not really long enough to Inc core temp. Think that's the main concern staying in too long, core temp rising and then possibly fainting. Knocking down the temp be fine, so hope you enjoy the hot tub party!

Arete hope you got some meds to help with the horrid piles now?

Stinky loved your dh mistaking big balls for baby's face! Grin Grin

Fattycow · 09/06/2015 20:30

Cramps have all calmed down. They were fairly regular for about 45 minutes and then died down again. I hope they stay away for a while, as I'm not term until this Friday and I want a home birth!

OP posts:
Charliej86 · 09/06/2015 20:53

Weve started to have concerns about arriving at hospital. Most appointments I've had have been around 2pm which is busiest time due to visiting times.
I asked about a visit to maternity ward to be told they no longer do them you have to look on you tube!! So I asked about arriving at similar time of afternoon. If we would have to wait to park there is a drop off area which allows you 20mins then OH would have to go back to park car. We don't like the idea of being apart so hoping for a late labour or being able to get a lift.
Apart from section sorry that's my biggest worry now, hadn't even thought of it before.
