joy, I'd love someone to tell me to stop bfing in public too. I have had my responses lined up for the last three years, since I had dd, but no one has ever said anything to me so they're just kinda waiting to be said, lol!

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 30/05/2015 20:40

No one ever even so much as looked at me bf-ing in public, I always wonder who these people are that you read about on mumsnet threads (and the daily mail Wink) who make nasty comments!

smallgreenbanana · 30/05/2015 20:48

Ooh, we've booked a little weekend break at the seaside for next weekend. Sooooo looking forward to it. Just a little time to ourselves and a little break from prepping for the baby before I get to term. Grin

fattymcfatfat · 30/05/2015 21:19

I'm Envy at your weekend break.

I had a bit of a wobble at my mums yesterday and burst into tears at her telling her how unfair it is that not only am I pregnant so not feeling energetic anyway, but I have SPD and I'm massive and I hate it and just want it to go away. so I can do the bloody housework. my mum gave me a hug and made it all better though and told me it was fine and she would clean my house for me when I go into hospital and she will come whenever I need her to before hand and is going to pop down for the morning for a week or so after baby is born to do all my busy work while I deal with baby, toddler and big one! Grin I luffs her lots

MrsFbabyNo1 · 31/05/2015 10:46

Ah sherbet hope you are feeling much more relieved now? I've def noticed a much reduced general pattern of movements since 6 odd months (was like every hr then!) to now with baby having less room to jiggle about. I do freak myself out about it on the odd occasion - probably days when I've been mega busy and so then suddenly think ooh what have I felt today. So much worry over movements isn't there, I.e. When do you start feeling first movements, others feel theirs but u don't yet, now later on not enough movements etc etc. I guess it's a good thing preggo ladies are more concerned bout it nowadays. But doesn't help all of us having our worry episodes!!!

JoY glad your growth scan and your bloods are all good!!! I'd love to know the current weight of my little man just cus I was only a 4lber (twin, month early).

Broody care to share your comebacks for if / when bf comments made? I'd like some in my back pocket too! Wink

How you feeling today FattyMc? Better I hope. Think it works both ways on all the day job chores, i cleaned house top to bottom yesterday (this new bum sciatic pain gave me a bit of jip though) but would kinda like to get out of doing it full stop! Take up your mum's kind offer asap!! Grin

smallgreenbanana · 31/05/2015 16:54

Trip to Primark was a bit disappointing - not a good choice and out of lots of things in the right sizes. I will not be winning any prizes for dressing nicely that's for sure! Also not sure if my pants are really big enough Shock Never mind. I suppose I've nearly got everything now for hospital bag!

smallgreenbanana · 31/05/2015 16:57

Hope everyone who has been feeling under the weather is having a better weekend. Smile

Luckystar82 · 31/05/2015 22:22

ah mcfatty your mum sounds lovely. rather than buying baby stuff she is promising the things that will really make a difference bless her

smallbanana I'm very jealous of your minibreak, would love one right now but can't afford it. Thinking of booking a spa day at centre parcs. The woburn one is meant to be lovely and has a lot of variety so should be lots I can do when pregnant. Anyone been?

joy happy to hear your baby is doing well. Would love to have a sense of what my baby weighs.

I'm still feeling under the weather but have pencilled in trip to primark. The one where I live is crap, so I think I may head to Lakeside or Watford one instead. I saw some really lovely long summer shirts in the Cardiff store a few weeks ago

fattymcfatfat · 31/05/2015 22:40

lucky my mum is amazing. when I had DS I was only 17 so had nothing, was at college, no money etc. she bought everything for him but told me I was his mum and she wouldn't do night feeds! (she did watch him while I had a bath in peace etc)
this time because I had DD not long ago she still needs a buggy so my mum bought my double buggy, and is offering help as I have everything a baby needs already. she knows it will be difficult having two under two, and a 6 yo to amuse all summer.

she's amazing. she manages this while caring for my youngest brother too, she went on holiday and had my other brother take that time off work just in case I came into Labour and needed a babysitter. even he has said it's a shame babies are so unpredictable or he would book a week off work when I'm due and help out too bless him.

this has turned into a gushing post about my family! I do love them to pieces though and I am so lucky to have them around.

Clstow · 01/06/2015 10:24

Hey all, hope everyone had a good weekend and those that have been feeling rough are a bit better, and hey Arete - keep on checking in Smile

I have got today off after working seven days straight and am planning to do some nesting, starting with cleaning the flat top to bottom. I would so love to have a cleaner... Would much rather lie on the sofa and eat biscuits!

Fattycow · 01/06/2015 11:01

My weekend has been wonderful, but I'm paying for it now! I overdid it, but it was just so lovely to be away with DH for a few days and enjoy just being us.

Have any more babies arrived yet? Only Zampa's little girl is on the stats sheet at the moment.

Number3cometome · 01/06/2015 11:15

Twins have arrived, I'm sure Mum will put them on when she has a moment.

I had midwife this morning, all ok, mentioned the change in movements and was told not to worry unless prodding / cold drink didn't prompt baby to move .

BP creeping up a bit but was expecting that at some point.

Had a dream I had some tests done and was told baby is coming early. Hope not. Hoping to get my csection date on Monday.

Currently two hours late for work as train issues.

Charliej86 · 01/06/2015 11:23

Zoo Friday + housework Saturday + work Sunday = lots of aches today. Struggled to sleep last nite too, when got comfy at around 7am baby decided it was time to have a rave. I felt like handing in an eviction notice.

Midwife tomorrow, all seems to be ok really, just starting to swell on fingers and ankles a little. Looking forward to knowing how we're growing as some days think we've evened out and others feel extra large.

Bit peeved this morning as maternity tops don't seem to fit anymore

Luckystar82 · 01/06/2015 12:07

Starting to feel better today. 2 weeks left of work before I can relax!

Midwife appointment today - 34 weeks today - I believe the next appt is at the hospital so we can have a look at the facilities. Hoping the MW today will have a feel and tell us whether engaged. Have a feeling baby is head down but find it really difficult to tell!

Haven't been feeling too many movements lately, but when she does move it is more forceful. Trying to sit on my yoga ball when I can but my cat is scared of it so DH keeps having a go at me for getting it out as cat freaks out! Do yoga balls really make a difference re: baby's positioning and the birthing experience?!

charlieis30 · 01/06/2015 12:36

Had a really good night's sleep last night but still really tired today. So am 'working' from bed! Grin
Boiler conked out at the weekend and DH away but renting so agency sent round handyman who tells me there's been some electrical fault and it might be days to fix. we have a backup immersion heater but takes ages and only gives a tiny bit of hot water... better than nothing I suppose.

Had an absolute freakout about labour on the weekend. Really wish I could see MW but not sched for another 2 weeks.

On phone but whoever asked re fit ball my friend swore that regularly doing hip circles on ball in runup to labour helped her... she has had 2 natural births at home.

broodylicious · 01/06/2015 12:42

Yes yoga balls can really help. When labour starts, try getting on there and rotating your hips. The motto "rotate to dilate" is really very true and does help a lot. Not sure it can guarantee baby is head down rather than breech or transverse though.

I'm 33 weeks today. Feeling same as everyone else but excited that it all means I'm pregnant and baby is going to be coming soon.

Luckystar82 · 01/06/2015 15:13

Yeay just back from MW and baby is head down engaged, with bum facing the world so perfect position, although the MW did warn she could turn in next 2 weeks, but still took as a good sign. She was pleased with everything, bump spot on 34cm for 34 weeks and she also said I looked very good (thanks very much!). Actually I have never had such good hair and skin, I do look a lot better than I feel!

Ooh I like that saying "rotate to dilate" will remember that for final 2 weeks when I expect to be sitting on ball a lot more

charlie don't worry, I have been working on laptop from bed too. Best place to be when you feel tired/ill and can be very productive!

Number3cometome · 01/06/2015 15:32

This baby's head is not engaged yet. He has been Ceph since the 12 week scan and has been Ceph at every scan (I've had 8 scans now!)

OH keeps saying if I wasn't having a c-section he would be the perfect V birth candidate!

jmojo · 01/06/2015 15:34

I can't sit in bed for too long I get a numb bum! I work from the sofa! Smile

Luckystar82 · 01/06/2015 16:24

jmojo have you got your flight booked back to the UK yet? Was interesting to read the different perspective on breastfeeding in central america. I haven't been to Panama, but loved the way many women in Nicaragua and Costa Rica are so proud and confident about their bodies. It did rub off on me a bit too when I was there (twice over last few years). I know they do have issues with machismo culture, but honestly I think we are getting more prudish in the UK! I also loved the way in Guatemala women would carry their babies in homemade slings until toddler-age and go about their daily business while keeping them close.

jmojo · 01/06/2015 16:42

Lucky I have my last Dr apt today so I am booking my flight tonight!! Eeek! Actually going to miss the heat, but I am looking forward to being able to take a nice stroll through the woods near my sisters place. That will be my exercise at home instead of a dip in the pool!

They don't sling carry so much here (although the indian tribes may). But in the general population women are confident of their bodies. You see women who wear bikinis, or tight clothing in their 50's & 60's. Size is not an issue, they really don't care about their size. They do do glamour very well though, all high heels and jewellery (think jlo). Here a big bottom is something to be prized (you can buy jeans with padding on the bottom if it isn't big enough). It really changes how you view ageing and body image. I am the antithesis of what most guys look for here. Far too skinny and flat chested!!

The men....well that is a different issue, very macho. They think it is their right to cat call you and comment on how much they would like to do things to you (quite explicitly sometimes). There is actually a movement here to try and stop it as it has gone from polite compliments 80 years ago to crude remarks now, usually called from cars and building sites at volume! Pregnancy seems to have saved me from this, in pregnancy they are all courtesy and helpfulness! Bizarre!!

charlieis30 · 01/06/2015 17:42

I had this whole plan that I'd be really active while DH is away, walking every day, swimming, tidying up the house (like throwing away all the boxes from all the baby stuff that keeps arriving!) but I've done NOTHING. Just mooched around in bed reading about natural childbirth.

I started as a "get the epidural prepped and ready" mum when I got pregnant but the more eps of One Born I watch, the more I think I'd at least like to TRY the birthing centre so trying to read up a bit more. Anyone have any recommendations for books on the more natural childbirth side?

fattymcfatfat · 01/06/2015 17:59

it took me 2 hours to get round sainsbos today! mw in morning.
jmojo are you looking forward to being back in the UK or do you think you will miss central America?

Luckystar82 · 01/06/2015 18:13

jmojo good luck with your last Dr apt today - hope you sort your flight booking out ok tonight. How exciting! Oh what I would give for some nice weather and a swim in an outdoor pool. However you are coming back to the UK at the right time. Mr weather man said this morning that the temp will gradually increase this week until it hits 25 degrees this weekend. Chilly compared to CA but not too bad for the UK in June! Apparently they are predicting a lovely warm June. We've had so much rain that the grass and trees are lush and green!

Yes I love how the women are confident about their bodies - it really rubbed off on me, and I felt great about wearing a bikini and my curves! Agree they do glamour well and confidence goes a long way towards that! Although machismo is alive and kicking, glad to hear the feminist backlash is growing too.
