Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 28th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 46th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal clubs here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

Here is the stats list, please update your own spot with any updates: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oLJqpadAb2givKYq8OJfGCti3s6xzsTGlI-GoaBfM_M/edit?pli=1#gid=0

waves I'm still stalking you so will try and answer some questions.

With regards to nappies, we use pampers and have got on really well with them and I don't find them smelly, but I've heard that different babies suit different nappies so it's probably worth trying different ones to find what suits you and your little one.

Cellular blankets - we just have one but aren't actually using it, depends on time of year and how warm your house is etc. also we swaddle H so don't want any other layers on top of that.

Fitted sheets- I bought 4 for her big cot bed and am using them on the bedside cot thingy until she's moved into her own room, I just fold them under the mattress to make them fit and save money! :)

Bumpers - not planning on using them when we move her and our bedside cot doesn't have bars.

Humidifiers - haven't bothered, perhaps wait and see and if you have a really snuffly baby and decide you need one, then get one? H has a cold at the moment and I'm going to steam up the bathroom and sit in there with her later.

Swaddle things - don't spend a lot yet, you may not need to swaddle as not all babies wake themselves with the startle reflex or need to feel tightly held. We use extra large 1.2m square muslins to do it, they're nuce and light and easily washable. We swaddle her then loosen it up to her waist so she can sleep froggy legged. Google hip friendly swaddle.

Sleeping bags, we have 2 of each size but aren't actually using them yet..as she's swaddled.

Sleep suits and vests - really depends how sicky your baby is. H isn't sicky at all but pees all over hers when being changed regularly. A good day we only have 1 change of clothes, a bad day may be 5! I think we do ok with a dozen to 15.

All of these ths will vary though depending on yours and your baby’s preferences and what works so don't take anything as the only way to do stuff! :)

Hobbit19 · 17/05/2015 10:25

Good bra advice ladies, am also wondering at what point I need to go and get measured. To be fair I only wear a bra at work/if I think it is socially unacceptable to go bra less stupid society. Trying to convince DH that my boobs are now MASSIVE as I am now filling my 32Bs ha ha.

Gx for all the birthing ladies, Cym it would be a little unfair to make you do your final 2.5 days surely? Just tell them that you may end of having it at work!

Purpleball · 17/05/2015 10:38

Cym I'd ring in sick

Thanks Zyla for the advice Smile

Debating doing a La and finding out the flavour but not telling anyone. I don't know....I want to know, I'm impatient to meet my baby. DH thinks I'll tell people if we find out can't hold my own water (sorry Ga lol)

Fleurchamp · 17/05/2015 10:41

I managed with my normal bras (I am small, 32B) until quite recently. I bought an extender for my back as I felt they were getting a little snug!

I also bought some stretchy crop top type bras which I wear at night and at home for comfort.

I was then measured two weeks ago as things were getting a bit uncomfortable - I had gone up to 34c and so I have bought nursing bras and normal ones too as they feel quite roomy still.

TBH I wear the stretchy crop top things quite often and only really the normal bras for work when I wear tighter clothes (and my nipples would show Shock )

teejayem · 17/05/2015 10:56

Is everyone in idea today? I am a bit jel.

niff well... I was 36c when I was ttc, and that was too tight by about week 8, so I bought 38cs, which lasted till 16 weeks, then went up a cup, and then finally folded and got measured at 25 wks and was 36E. I bought the m&s t shirt bra two packs, and kept wearing under wiring until v recently . I'm expecting another cup size for when milk comes in, so habent bought nursing bras yet (on next week's shopping list).
In short you might end up with a selection as you might not go from small to mahoosive in one hit. Ultimately you need to be comfy :)

LaLaLaaaa · 17/05/2015 10:59

Hooray cym glad you're allowed home :)

thanks so much zyla that was really handy and you've caught me just before leaving so I've adjusted our list. Won't bother with swaddle things if muslins are fine - will google how to do it and ask NCT lady to show me.

Bras - I was really really sore at 9 weeks, my boobs seemed to inflate, so I had to go up a few sizes and then again at 21 weeks. But other people don't seem to get any difference. Do go by what's right for you and ask to be measured. It's a good idea to come out of underwire as you're further on to give the developing milk/tissue a chance to come in.

teejayem · 17/05/2015 11:08

And YY to sports bras/crop tops, I prefer these over my mat bras at the moment.

PixieChops · 17/05/2015 11:33

Hi just found everyone! Hurray for new Fred!

Ga I'm so happy that you pissed yourself.
Cym glad you get to go home, try and relax so the contractions should start coming again. It may be because you're in the hospital that they stopped as well as you would've been getting all excited (and probably a bit nervous too) I went to hospital 3 times with really close contractions only to get there and then they'd stop! So frustrating.
Tori hope they've been able to start off your induction today- lots of unmumsnetty hugs for you
La if it's any consolation both my DM and MIL drive me nuts. They can both be quite overpowering and irritating. I've been bought nappies and we have always used pampers, that's evaluate all the others we've used have either leaked or caused nappy rash. Each to their own though! MIL has bought new baby some nappies from sainsburys. DD has used sainsburys nappies, in our experience they aren't that great so doubt we'll use them (emergencies only) and some clothes the pair of them buy for DD are bloody awful. I'm not into pink or fluffy dresses and they buy both even though I tell them it's pointless as she will not be wearing them. She doesn't have much hair and she just looks ridiculous.
Tee I really need to buy some sports bras, I have one but it's far too small. I was a 32DD but think I'm back up to a 36E now. I look ridiculous, not to create some sort of stealth boast but I can still get in some of my size 8-10 jeans (use a bump band so I don't have to fasten them) and from the back you can't tell I'm pregnant but then I've got a huge bump and massive norks with stick thin arms and legs. I look like a fucking orange with cocktail sticks sticking out of it.
DDs party was a huge success, had about 30 people plus kids in our house. No major incidents- DD was caught eating gravel and that was about as exciting as it got. All the kids seemed to have a nice time, we used the garden as well as it was quite nice so stuck ball pool, new car, swing and 2 slides out. DD now has so many new toys (some of them are bloody huge) that we actually sorted through her toy box and have had to take some of her toys upstairs for now until new baby arrives and he can use them.
Think I'm going food shopping today... Hurray... I really cannot be arsed.
Good thing about the party as well was that DD actually slept until 9am this morning. She usually sleeps till 6am. I'm thinking of having a party everyday.

PixieChops · 17/05/2015 11:41

Just to introduce myself to any newbies as well:

34 weeks pregnant (hoping for elective c section and find out 26th May.
Already a mum to a (newly) 1 year old DD- aka the pest
Newly engaged a couple of weeks ago- managed to have (nearly) 2 kids and get engaged within 18 months of being with OH. It's our 2 year anniversary in July.
Suffering with SPD- clicks hips and sciatica. This baby hates me
Currently a stay at home mum as I got pregnant 3 months before my last Mat leave ran out, plus company I worked for gave me a GADs so never went back!

ChatEnOeuf · 17/05/2015 12:31

Ooh, Ga I'm delighted it was just a weewee! Grin Phew.

La in our (old) locale, baby gets examined - if normal, we'd do scan at 4-6 weeks. If abnormal, we'd rush through in 0-2w. Hopefully all will be fine
Cellular blankets - we have about 4, most of which were presents, most of which were used in the pram for walking.
Fitted sheets - three or four - same as Zy, we folded them around the carrycot and saved some pennies
Bumpers? Nope. All stuff in cot is unnecessary and potentially dangerous. DD would have used a bumper as a step to climb out earlier than she did as well.
Humidifiers - not on your life. A wet cloth on a radiator will suffice if you think you need...
Swaddle things - I have a couple from the grobag folks - DD needed all the wrapping up when she was little
Sleeping bags - we had a couple in each size.
Sleepsuits etc. 12 or so? Depends how often they throw up/how much washing you're prepared to do...
We used Pampers last time, no problems and didn't notice a smell.

I hate those BF scarves. Can't see anything under them, recipe for a crappy latch. Baby's head will cover most of the flesh anyway.

Bras...I have a collection of random sizes! Went from 32A to 34E last time once milk came in. Get measured a few times, try on different styles and go with what's comfy.

Glad the party went well, Pixie.

Hope you can get some rest today Cym ready for the main event.

Good luck Tori - excited to see your little dude!

For those of you struggling with the poos, I ate a whole tin of 'fruit' cocktail for breakfast (the really sweet mushy stuff that probably has no nutrients left in in) and drank all the juice too. To put it politely, one no longer needs to poop. Confused

batfish · 17/05/2015 14:29

When will I know if I'm feeling movement or if it is something else? Not sure whether I should be worried that I'm 20 weeks and not certain that's what it is! Been feeling little twitches for about 3 weeks but they don't seem to be getting stronger or more frequent. Lots of people on October bus seem to have been talking for weeks about baby kicking away, responding to husband's voice, he can feel the kicks etc - making me worry!

batfish · 17/05/2015 15:00

Thanks tori I won't worry yet then! Just freaks me out when other people on first babies are saying oh baby has been kicking away and my husband felt it from the outside etc. Now as I write this I had the twitchy feeling I've been getting - I can't think what else would be causing the strange feeling in the baby area other than the baby but I just don't know how to tell! I think what put me off thinking it is baby is that when I felt things at 17+ weeks a friend said oh no it's too early and then when doc asked at 18 weeks if I had felt anything and I said maybe he also said too early yet so then I felt a bit silly and assumed these twitches must be something else!

mountaingirl01 · 17/05/2015 16:09

Hope it's all going ok today tori and*cym!

gaggia I am so pleased everything turned out to be ok!

Bra wise, I went up a rib size within first 8weeks.. nothing since. Probabyl will need another size soon ish, but don't feel uncomfortable at all. Plan on wearing underwirea as long as they are comfortable! My sister needed a new bra pretty much every week though!

bat my flutters only really turned to kicks about 2 days ago, and at times still feel like they could be anything. Dh can't feel them yet (I'm 22+3)

mountaingirl01 · 17/05/2015 16:10

P.s. thanks for all the feedback re hospitals.. think I'm going to get the gtt out the way then swap over

DulcetMoans · 17/05/2015 16:41

Did they get you in tori? Hope there's been movement.

It's not too early at all bat, but it wouldn't be too late either. Some people feel it different because of where baby or placenta is. Flutters, bubbles and popping all seem to be recurring words to describe it if that helps you narrow it down?

I only got measure last week niff but I had bought new bigger ones for myself. Was out of wires straight away as uncomfy. When you start spilling out it is worth going. You then go after 35 weeks to get nursing bras for after baby is here - they figure out size from there some how!

Good news on party success pixie! Eating gravel just helps the immune system, right?!

Gardening done for the day. Eating jelly beans in the bath now. I've dropped one in the water, if it's pink I will be so angry at myself. If it was cola or vanilla then it's better off in there!

minimooo · 17/05/2015 19:35

Hi viroids, I'm not keeping up very well Confused Too busy feeding E and trying (and failing) to sleep. My c-section is proving a bit tricky to recover from too.

Just thought I'd post some things.i've found over the last couple of weeks:

The Medela Symphony electric breast pump is awesome. You can rent them for £45 for the first 2 weeks and then £35 for each month after (I think?). Total godsend.

Boots breast pads are crap. Lansinoh ones are nicer. Use lansinoh nipple cream repeatedly if bf. Get about 6 tubes of the stuff! So that you can have at least one at each feeding spot and next to your bed.

Take loads more sleep suits and vests than u think you will need to hospital. If you end having to stay in longer (like me) it means your dh doesn't have to drive home to fetch more. Same goes for nighties for you and t-shirts for dh.

Make sure you have loads of nursing tops. I only had 3 and quickly realised (after lots of projectile vomit) that u need loads more otherwise it puts too much pressure on your washing loads. Especially if dh is in charge of the laundry! Shock

Get a tumble drier! I had to order one from ao.com next day delivery last Sunday. Just to keep up with sheer amount of laundry.

Finally, make sure you have loads of muslins, nappies, sleep suits, vests, wipes etc. When you're sleep deprived and hazy it's really hard to organise yourself to get supplies in.

Oh, and If you live in a house (rather than a flat) make up 2 changing areas. One upstairs, one downstairs.

Ok, think that's everything. Of course, if u have a normal straightforward birth, most of this probably won't matter. But I wish I'd known all of the above just in case the birth went wrong and I ended up with a c section.

Hope you're all well and I'm looking forward to seeing more of you over on the postnatal thread! Grin

minimooo · 17/05/2015 19:36

Man, sorry for the ginormo post!

Purpleball · 17/05/2015 19:44

Tori hope it's going ok.

Min, glad things are calming down for you and thanks for the advice. I hadn't even thought about nursing tops!

Pixie sounds like a lovely birthday party for your DD Smile

We've been to another beach today and took a picnic.
My new kindle arrived so I've been reading First Time Parent by Lucy Atkins. It's an idiots guide to the first year written by a mum of 3. I highly recommend Smile and I've nearly finished it

PixieChops · 17/05/2015 19:46

Aww mini sorry to hear that you e had a bit of a crap time. I completely agree with everything you've put though, apart from the bf stuff as DD was formula fed from birth pretty much so I can't have much of an opinion on that.
Is everyone lost in IKEA? Fred is very quiet today.

gaggiagirl · 17/05/2015 19:55

bat fuck what the October bus says! There are a small percentage of attention seeing nut sacks on there. Please don't worry. No ones husband should be feeling kicks from.the outside yet (Oct people) That's crazy talk.

Ikea was a bad idea. I vommed in the Metrocentre before we headed over to Ikea. Naturally I bought loads of food and plastic plates but I'm sick as a dog now.
