Noticed we were getting a bit full in the last thread! Roll up, roll up for more scanning, puking, worrying and other distractions to take us through the first trimester! Grin

shinysparklythings · 14/05/2015 07:04

babyface yes to the spots thing. I have never had a problem with spots except the odd giant one at totm but I currently have a few big ones and the rest of my face is covered in little bumps. I don't use anything other than water on my face as I react to most beauty products Confused

Good luck to those of you with scans today! I am very envious of your early scans! But only 13 days till my 12week scan Grin

I was having really bad cramps tues night and yesterday morning. I think the culprit was gas! TMI alert! I have way been to the loo 4 times in the last 12 hours and I am so tired now! On the plus side there can't be anything left to come out Grin

I'm 50:50 whether I should ring in sick as I've had so little sleep and my stomach feels awful, but we are interviewing for a new head of dept and I would rather be there as it's external candidates.

Withalittlesparkle · 14/05/2015 07:44

I still don't have a date for my 12 week scan and in fact now need to go through the booking in process again as I've elected for cross border care! At present it looks like I'll have two sets of green notes which is going to be super confusing! Going to call later to clarify what the hell is going on

afloat · 14/05/2015 08:00

Thanks for offering to set up the group, Haribo! I'm looking forward to getting to know real names Smile

I'm booking in this morning, woot!

Shiny, if you decide to go in I hope your stomach recovers. Yesterday I was soooo tired that I delayed dragging myself away from my desk to go home.

Bristolian1 · 14/05/2015 08:14

I'm booking in this morning too afloat! Makes it feel all official Smile

TheBabyFacedAssassin · 14/05/2015 08:23

Hope you feel better shiny - gas, bloating and a lazy digestive system can really make you miserable. I'm in the same boat myself, at night time I look about 20 weeks pregnant rather than 8! I'm prone to a lazy bowel anyway so pregnancy really doesn't help things.

I have broken out in painful cystic acne, which is totally hormonal, I had it after my last pregnancy when my hormones were levelling out. It's all over my jaw line and they are so sore. I think my lesson is to keep on top of my skin care routine, it makes all the difference. During my last pregnancy my skin was perfect, it is so true when they say no 2 pregnancies are the same!

Am also obsessing over pancakes and orange juice...

Fizzie100 · 14/05/2015 08:47

Hi ladies, time is ticking so slowly! I have booking appointment on Friday and they will then set me up with a scan in the coming weeks. Hopefully not too long to wait. Been feeling terribly tired and sick this week but fortunately haven't actually been sick. White rice, toast, rich tea biscuits and LOTS of orange juice are all I really fancy. Healthy! Yikes...

Fizzie100 · 14/05/2015 08:48

Welcome bristolian, we were on a previous thread together xx

Fizzie100 · 14/05/2015 09:16

Quick question ladies - I've been taking Pregnacare but as I'm on the larger side am not sure there's enough folic acid in the tabs - I read that a supplement can be prescribed but now I'm worried that at 9 weeks I should have been taking more for a while now. Hmmmm....any thoughts appreciated! Here's to a good day ladies lets all keep positive x

Withalittlesparkle · 14/05/2015 09:37

Fizzie have you had your booking in appt yet? And when you say larger what do you mean? I have a bmi of 28 (yikes) and my midwife didn't suggest me taking more than the pregnacare I was taking

Also pregnacare is 240 % RDA plus you'll be getting some naturally in your diet anyway (bread, rice, cereal, leafy greens) so I'm sure it's nothing to worry about

ThreeBeanRap · 14/05/2015 09:49

Fizzie is your booking in tomorrow? Mine too - very excited, then I have my scan on Mon! I am 11+2 today though so quite late on to have it all.

I don't think BMI is a major concern unless it's over 30 so if it's less than that you should be ok? Otherwise they'll talk to you about any extras you need at your booking in I imagine.

Bristolian1 · 14/05/2015 09:50

Hi Fizzie nice to see you here!

FlorIxora · 14/05/2015 09:51

I have just booked the Harmony test. I think they do a scan at both appointments. I am excited to see the little bean again in 14 days.

TheBabyFacedAssassin · 14/05/2015 09:53

Fizzie I honestly don't think I would worry at this stage. I think if your GP had cause for concern they would have mentioned it when you had your first appointment with them?

Let's hope today is better than yesterday.

I can't stop thinking about food!

chopsface · 14/05/2015 09:59

Good news for the thread today! Baby Chops is in there safe and well measuring 8+4 with a thumping heartbeat! GrinGrin

Hope you got on ok too metal x

Fizzie100 · 14/05/2015 10:01

Thanks ladies. Yes I'm closer to BMI 31 so am a little worried. I'm 6 foot tall and size 16-18 but weigh a LOT!

Fizzie100 · 14/05/2015 10:02

Yay for baby chops x

MarkingMyPlace9 · 14/05/2015 10:09

Yay for Baby Chops!
Fizzle my BMI is 32 at my Booking In my Midwife just checked I was taking Folic Acid and said no more! So I would try not to worry xx

Withalittlesparkle · 14/05/2015 10:10

Yay for babychops

Fizzie100 · 14/05/2015 10:15

Thanks ladies xx

FlorIxora · 14/05/2015 10:35

Fantastic news Chops Smile

Fizzie If you're 6 ft tall you'd be so thin you'd only had one side if your BMI was within range. BMIs are not a prefect tool. Ifyou're 6ft tall of muscle and broad shouldered, your BMi could read higher than a 5'5" person with high % age of body fat; when in essence you might be healthier than a shorter person.

I read the Buzzfeed 90 day bootcamp challenge results, and after exercising like mad almost all participants had higher BMIs than before the bootcamp.

I don't know if I am making much sense but I think I'm trying to say don't worry you might healthier than the BMI is suggesting.

scaryfuture · 14/05/2015 11:12

Hi, I've been lurking for a little while but I'd like to join. I'm 10+4 today due on 7th Dec. This pregnancy has come as bit of a shock, we thought we had completed our family. I only tested because my DH commented that a dress I was trying on made me look a bit pregnant, so I wanted to prove him wrong. So it was a huge shock when it was positive. I'd had a light period in March which I'd thought was odd but I put it down to stress as I was in the middle of exams. I was planning to go back to work after finishing my course this year as my youngest started school back in September so it looks like that might be on hold for a little longer. I have my booking in appointment tomorrow so hoping I'll get a scan date then.

BabsUnited · 14/05/2015 11:45

hi everyone, nice to hear about some positive scans Smile

Does anyone else have the sorest boobs in the land? Can I start wearing maternity bras? Also what is good to wear to bed? This is my second DC but I swear they weren't this painful last time. I really want a nice vest top with 'hidden support', anyone bought any nice ones lately?

Jcandy · 14/05/2015 11:50

M&S do some good ones babs. I bought some from primark at the weekend but they are utterly rubbish! I am also contemplating maternity bras, my niece comfy ones no longer fit properly, I'd just rather not spend too much money if they are going to change again

ChandlersFarang · 14/05/2015 12:04

Welcome scaryfuture! Sounds like you have a lot to work out, but congratulations on your surprise baby. Grin

This bra chat is helpful, I'm really struggling out here in Thailand. Asian women have tiny boobs. The biggest bras I can find in Bangkok go up to a D cup. I was a DD before getting pregnant and now having measured myself I've gone up to a FF !! I've got 5 more weeks here and slightly concerned I'm going to do myself some damage! I was reading that you're meant to avoid underwire as it can damage the milk ducts or whatever? I've got one stretched wireless sports bra which I've been wearing at night but am a bit worried I'm restricting the old mams when they need to expand!!!!! Help!!!! GrinGrin
