Noticed we were getting a bit full in the last thread! Roll up, roll up for more scanning, puking, worrying and other distractions to take us through the first trimester! Grin

My niece was born last Christmas Eve so I can't wait to see my parents faces when we tell them - mum will have kittens about where she should be this year, I can see it now. Neices 1st birthday or 2nd grandchild being born. We live 4 hours apart And are a super close family. It's our first bubba and EDD 18th. I think we will be making no plans at al!!

Withalittlesparkle · 14/05/2015 18:48

Abi I wouldn't use it but then I'd totally freak out if I couldn't hear anything! Midwives won't usually use dopplers until 16 weeks!!

Withalittlesparkle · 14/05/2015 18:49

Fizzie your poor parents!!

Fizzie100 · 14/05/2015 18:59

I know sparkle! I keep thinking they might be cross but hopefully not! Especially after our MC earlier in the year I'm sure they'll be happy, just rather torn! Plus my birthday is just after Christmas so I know what it's like being a Christmas baby hehe! 7pm nausea over here....bleugh

Hummingbird15 · 14/05/2015 19:05

Hi everyone, hope you've all had a good day. Congrats to chops on your happy scan.
I went to my GP at 5 weeks but the surgery messed up and didn't send my referral letter to the hospital until I was 7+2, but I'm now 9+1 and still don't have anything through from the hospital - do you think I should chase? I'm not too sure how long is normal to wait for a booking appointment after your referral?? Thankfully I had a private scan yesterday and we have booked a harmony test so I'm not over worried in terms of not getting my 12 week scan at the right time, but would really just like to know that I'm 'in the system' so to speak.

NicNak22 · 14/05/2015 19:13

Hi ladies

Such I mixed up couple of days really sorry to the sad news and really thrilled for the early scan groups.

Had my booking appt yesterday made it feel alot more real, then had a really bad stomach l last night toilet wise. I've felt I'll since.

I've been so emotional today I just cried because I didn't know what I wanted for dinner Confused

I've got a feeling that something isn't right bit no real basis for that.

Hummingbird15 · 14/05/2015 19:14

Oops, I managed to miss reading a whole page of posts before I wrote! Congrats to Metal as well.
I'm not to bad with smells, the only one I've noticed was when I walked past a shop with incense burning and nearly puked!!

Avasmum8 · 14/05/2015 19:48

Abi step away from the Doppler! You won't be able to find it that early, some women we struggle on at 16 weeks. In my area we aren't technically suppose to listen in now until the women are 28/32 weeks?! Although there are ways to get around this :)

Smell wise, bleach is the worst! And I can't cook many things because of general cooking smells.. leave that to DH to do!

Anyone's nausea getting worse? Until the beginning of this week I've been feeling quite sick and heaving but not a lot has come up, but everyday this week I've been sick at least once in the morning. With DD and my mmc I didn't have anything like this!

abi2790 · 14/05/2015 20:22

Avasmum I gave it a go (for like an hour haha) but couldn't find anything other than my heartbeat. I'm not worrying though, it took me a long while to find ds on there. There's obviously a good reason why the midwife doesn't check the heartbeat till 16 weeks. If they struggle then I've got no chance lol!

I'm so hungry all the time! I had a really big tea too and now I'm hungry again! I fancy some crumpets now...

chopsface · 14/05/2015 20:24

The nausea has really ramped up in the evenings this week. Last week I was eating normal(ish) meals. I have been eating 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 2 dinners to keep my tummy busy. Usually in the evening I eat half my dinner at 6ish and then re-heat it at 8ish and still snack before bed at 9.30/10! The eve is def worse than the morning and its quite bad in the afternoons too. I cannot stomach water, only juice. Can't even drink ginger tea any more like I could 2 weeks ago!

humming I'd def start chasing! I am!

TerryTheGreenHorse · 14/05/2015 20:51

I don't know what to do about Christmas, all I know is that I would like someone else to cook me dinner.

I am getting worried about doing the christmas food shop.

I sent DP one year to get nice things for christmas and it was not pretty.

It's nice that having a December DD means we can start getting Christmassy in May though.

I think on balance I would rather have the baby by then than being huge and overdue, I won't be able to fit any grub in.

TerryTheGreenHorse · 14/05/2015 21:02

Is anyone going for a Christmas theme name Grin

What's about

Noel
robin
Holly?

Metalhead · 14/05/2015 21:13

We'll probably try and have one set of grandparents over for Christmas (preferably my parents!), for DD's sake if nothing else. But it will be with strict instructions that they'll be doing all the cooking and I won't be looking after anyone other than myself, new baby and DD if needed.

chops I also feel worst in the afternoon/evening, I usually get a bad headache too which makes the nausea even worse. Bleurgh!

TheBabyFacedAssassin · 14/05/2015 21:26

I too feel way worse in the evening. From about 4.30 I just feel awful. Tonight has been particularly bad. Am in bed now feeling sorry for myself.

abi2790 · 14/05/2015 21:36

It's funny you say that terry cos I mentioned to dp the other day that I like the name Robin for a girl! It didn't even click that it would be a christmassy name!

ineedsomeinspiration · 14/05/2015 21:43

flor my ds was born late December, just before Xmas and if I were you I would put those plans on hold. I had no real idea of what time with a newborn would be like and we had some family here just after the birth and went to visit some for new year. To be honest it was awfully iver whelming and no way what I would choose given my time again.

chopsface · 14/05/2015 22:02

Absolutely not going for a seasonal name! Full stop!

afloat · 14/05/2015 23:48

I'm just going to be ignoring Christmas I think. Definitely not having any guests until baby is at least a week or two old. I find family visits very nice, but stressful, since they travel from abroad and have to stay with us for a while. I'm not sure how to get around this with a newborn. I'd like my Mum to come to help after DP goes back to work, but would feel bad asking just her and not my dad to stay! Also DP's parents and I don't share a language so a visit from them while DP was at work would be tricky... Christmas would make it all the more complicated. Hmmmm.

Just having my almost midnight snack of a cinnamon bagel with loooooads of butter, yum. Maybe I'll even have a second! I have gained a kilo so far, "not the end of the world" according to midwife at today's booking appointment, hopefully ironically. The appointment was nice, everyone was lovely, but I somehow feel underwhelmed, like I should have been given loads more information. I was just asked loads of medical history questions, given leaflets, and got blood and urine taken, all took less than an hour. The notes pack is pretty confusing. I'm curious how it was for others, maybe I was expecting too much?

On the pregnancy symptoms, today is the first I'm not super tired in ages, and not much nausea, woohoo! I do have heartburn though ... And a huge belly that makes me look much more pregnant than I am.

NicNak22 · 15/05/2015 06:30

Definitely still super tired here afloat. I should have been out of bed half an hour ago. Still just lying here.

My booking in was about th e same but lasted about 1hr30 lots of leaflets and notes and questions.

MarkingMyPlace9 · 15/05/2015 07:05

Christmas wise we have decided that MIL and FIL can come round, Cook Dinner and keep DS entertained. But no one else. Although BIL has other ideas! But we'll worry about that nearer the time. And if ours is a Girl we've deff decided on Hollie Grin

HariboBrenshnio · 15/05/2015 07:15

Congratulations on the happy scan news Smile

Bras: I wore an underwire all the way through DS pregnancy and it was fine. No problem with my milk coming. As long as it's properly fitted It'l be fine.

Christmas: we shall be going to my parents which is a 10 min drive away. I have 3 sisters so DS will be properly entertained and have a lovely day without me having to worry about it too much.

Visitors: everyone is different but we had DPs dad stay for 3 days when DS was a few days old and it was fine. He was super helpful though and cooked for us lots. Only have helpful guests!

WonkyDonkBonk · 15/05/2015 07:30

Regarding Christmas, I had the same problem last time. DD was due on Dec 31st and as it was my first i assumed i would be late. Spent xmas day with my parents who are only 30 mins away. i was expecting to be fat and grumpy, but DD actually popped out 3 days before xmas and it was lovely being at my parents for the day doing nothing but cuddling my newborn and being brought chocolate. I would recommend. Happy Friday!

chopsface · 15/05/2015 07:47

Those that have had booking ins already..... I have a form to fill in before mine which has family medical history. Does anyone know how 'extended' family they need to know about? My dh's uncle is deaf, do we put him under the is there deafness in the family or is that not close enough?

ineedsomeinspiration · 15/05/2015 08:07

The midwife at mine sais parents, grand parents, aunts, uncles and direct cousins. Was a bit difficult as I have over 40 cousins some of which are on the other side of the world.

WaitingForEgg · 15/05/2015 08:15

Congrats on happy scan news!
My nausea has levelled so I was really happy, but now I have a rotten cold Sad feeling pretty sorry for myself. The part of my course at the moment is focused on birth and delivery (ha de ha) and yesterday was all about miscarriage. I spent the whole day choking back tears with my one uni friend who knows about the pregnancy shooting me concerned looks. Was really hard and got me worrying all over again.
Christmas: my mum and step dad are coming to us. My mum is coming from when she breaks up for Christmas (she owns a pre-school) and is going to stay with me for 2 weeks to look after me Smile i am lucky as we all get on and my mum is very very kind and considerate, her and DH will be making Christmas dinner.
Bras: to begin with my boobs seriously inflated but they seem to have simmered down now. Found some good no wire (large size) bras in John Lewis so will purchase soon
Anyone know if there is any consistency with mums and daughters having similar childbirths? my mum never went into spontaneous labour with my brother or me, is it worth mentioning to the midwife?
