divastrop · 05/12/2006 13:17

rainbow-i will answer you b4 i read all the other posts.tbh in the last 3 weeks of pg i was a stubborn cow and carried heavy stuff, moved furniture etc on my own cos i didnt want to ask for help.ds2 was in a pushchair though and i got through 4 pushchairs in 9 months due to hanging heavy shopping etc on the handles!sadly,i ended up asking my xp for help on a few occasions, that was the worst thing about it(xp is the father of ds and dd1).
i didnt really think about it till the other night when i was going to put decorations up and dp said there was no way i was going up a ladderi was putting up decs at 37 weeks pregnant last year!

divastrop · 05/12/2006 13:39

MossletoeAndWine · 05/12/2006 15:25

RIGHT! I've interviewed my candidate. Who had a good CV, but wouldn't stop moaning about how crappy his job was and how everything was everyone else's fault except his. How terrible that some mornings he has to get in for half past eight and doesn't get to go until half five because of the sheer workload (I know, I'm being horrible, but those hours would be a dream to me atm!)

I have also made enough pointless calls to satisfy Darth Vader when he comes back in and checks the call records.

So I have read everyone's posts!

Divastrop, classically trained eh? You and Boo should start a duo!

Kiwibella nice to see you're putting your deccies up already. My dh is really miserable about deccies so I'm going to get mil to get the chrimbo tree out the yard (too heavy for me "in my condition"!!)

Callieco did you manage to finish the clearout? My dh is a hoarder, but if I chuck out his stuff without his knowledge, he never misses it!

Leogaela, I am a recluse too. Haven't been out (as in "a night out") since the day after my bfp. Do you find yourself getting annoyed if people come round, too, or is that just me?

Kitty, at your tiny bum! Mine is GIGANTORMOUS!

Foxy hope you're feeling better. What is GTT?

Eids, how lovely for you to have a little baby girl to mother on a temporary basis, and one you can give back if she gets fussy!

Rosy to hear about your dh, is he okay? Hope you're getting more sleep, too.

Muppet I am lucky in that I have a huge patch of waste ground (reclaimed land) about ten mins away. No one ever goes there and I can let Merlin & Arthur off the lead and sit on a log for an hour while they run each other ragged! They get a short weekday walk most days, with dh (too dark for me, "in my condition") and I walk them (well, watch them walk each other) at weekend.

Morocco hope your backache clears. I have bad backache as well but it seems to be linked with bad wind sorry if tmi!

Laidback hope your dh is all right! Nice to hear you're doing the deccies too. I hope Bertie turns out to be more xmassy than dh!

AimR where are you? It has been windy here too (Liverpool) but seems to have settled down thisavvy.

Muppet, I am getting everything secondhand / borrowed too. Apart from the car seat, which dh & I will buy, and the pram, which mil is going to buy. Got second hand tots bots off ebay t'other day, how cute are they? Also I am in freecycle st helens and have already got a cot for free...

Boo lol at washing in french champagne. To get out the caviar stains of course!!

Piffle, interesting question, this is my first and although spiritually enriching might be going a bit far for me, now I have got over the worst of the ms, and the constant tiredness has gone (still tired but not to the point of sleeping at my desk any more iyswim) I do feel a lot more content. I think feeling Bertie moved has helped a lot. I used to moan about everything at first, but now I am just glad I am pg. And today I am 24 weeks, which means he is "viable". Sounds such an awful thing to think about, but it does lessen my worries a little.

Rainbowgirl I hope you are feeling happier soon. So sorry to hear you have been low. Do you think that Christmas has anything to do with it, or even, and I'm not being glib, the light levels (e.g. S.A.D. making a bad situation worse)?

Do you have lots of people who can help you with some of the practical stuff?

Well I had better do some more work now! or at least look like I'm working, which is the main thing

harktheheraldfoxessing · 05/12/2006 15:42

GTT = Glucose Tolerance Test (for gestational diabetes). They haven't phoned so I assume I don't have it. Didn't think I had it anyway! [pokes tongue out]

kittyschristmascrackers · 05/12/2006 16:20

Foxy, don't know about the accupuncure. hasd it once to try and shift a very tardy dd1, but it didn't work!

Rosy hope your dh is ok ?

I don't mind being pregnant too much. I am always pregnant anyway . I am looking forward to meeting this little chap though. I know this is the last time I am doing this so I don't want it to rush by too much.

Piffle so glad you're feeling better and the spd has settled down. Mine hasn't got any worse and I am trying hard to avoid movements that I know will exaccerbate it.

Laidback, how did the shopping go the other day. Did you get some nice bunting? I've decided to start collecting scraps and make my own. I like to do something in the evenings. I'm no good just sitting there watching t.v.

Rainbowgirl, the internet shopping is a good idea. You can still get a lot of things done you just need to slow down a little and be careful.
Best go it's all kicking of downstairs.

Laidbackinamanger · 05/12/2006 16:50

Kitty - got some fab bunting and lots of other great things that I don't actually need ...but hey ho......also bought two sofas yesterday to ship back to the uk .... so cheap it would have been rude not to !!

kittyschristmascrackers · 05/12/2006 17:20

Laidback, I'm very of the bunting. You lucky thing.

evenhope · 05/12/2006 18:22

Evening ladies.

I'm pleased to hear so many others are struggling with walking etc because I was starting to worry! I go upstairs and I'm out of breath, and I just feel so uncomfortable in the evenings. I've had that horrible pressure feeling as well and been worried about that. I don't remember being this worn out with the others (and indeed have a photo taken at the top of Glastonbury Tor when I was 37 weeks with number 3) but then I was a lot younger. It must make a difference. I'm having to plan outings with how far I have to walk as the major consideration. It wouldn't matter but I've done no Xmas shopping. DS2 says get it all on the internet but then I end up having to go to the sorting office because the postman always calls when we're out, so you can't win.

Anyone else finding some of the baby's movements quite painful? She seems to do this twirling/squirming thing that feels really horrible. I get desperate for it to stop but when it does start to worry whether she's alright . I think I'm going bananas!

Bought nothing yet (planning to wait for the sales) but decided on a pram/pushchair after about 10 visits to the same shop. We're going to get a Silver Cross linear chassis and sleepover top. Works out a bit dearer than some of the travel systems but we kept being drawn back to it. We'll be able to use the "proper" carrycot over the summer and then it converts into the pushchair, plus the pushchair faces both ways and I like to have the baby facing me for as long as possible. It's got a smart car seat as well that clips straight on to the frame but has a hood and cosytoes thing so the baby is protected a bit.

evenhope · 05/12/2006 18:27

Also forgot to say got a letter from HR agreeing my leave but they've put down I'm entitled to 26 weeks SMP despite quoting my due date as 1st April. I'm going to have to phone them tomorrow to query it. DS2 said perhaps they know I've moved the date, but then it wouldn't say 1st April on the letter, would it?

25 weeks (girl)

MossletoeAndWine · 05/12/2006 18:40

Hi evenhope sorry to hear your baby is moving in a painful way! I only just felt him move the other week and it's still really gentle (anterior placenta) so I guess I'll have all that to come soon enough!

I buy loads of stuff off the internet (didn't like shopping even when I wasn't pg, apart from Asda) and I email the sender to request they put a lable on the package saying "please deliver to a neighbour if out". (And sometimes the postie delivers to next door anyway as the dogs can sometimes sound a bit scary! )

Anglaise1 · 05/12/2006 19:46

Evenhope, have you had your blood tested for iron? I was feeling really tired all the time and very out of breath, even though I'm quite fit and haven't put on much weight. I had a blood test last week and had hardly any iron in my blood - I feel a lot better since taking the iron supplements - only problem is that I can't drink as much tea whilst taking them....
On the movements, I'm getting some really horrible squirmy ones too, especially in the lower abdomen, I can't remember those the first time round, only nice kicks!

OCalliecomeallyefaithful · 05/12/2006 20:32

MossletoeandWine - did I finish clearout? - did I heck. I have got rid of the small bits of crap but (in my defence) can't move the two desks until we've got somewhere for them to go - ie another home! - and the bed has to stay till after Christmas cos got most of the family coming over on Boxing Day to stay. Thanks for asking tho.

Kitty/Piffle - Can I just ask what spd is? I know what it stands for but don't know what it means if you get me.

Amie, thanks for the Mothercare pram link. That does look a good option too - ah, decisions, decisions. In work today, which was nice and quiet, I had either MN, Mothercare or Ikea website open at all times - if they ever checked my browsing, I'd be stuffed! One of my immediate managers was buying her partner's Christmas present online though so I didn't really feel guilty at all. Boss had me in for my latest health and safety check up, so managed to suggest to her that I should do as many day shifts rather than late or earlies as possible come January - funnily enough that was the one bit of the form she "missed" as we were going through it .

Got an ante-natal question for you all. Where you are, what sort of checks do you have from now on in - is it just midwife appts or do you have any more routine scans etc? I'm just seeing the community MW.

divastrop · 05/12/2006 21:14

callie-i have more blood taken at 28 weeks where i am and i think thats routine but apart from that there are no more routine scans or anything.you used to see the mw every 2 weeks after week 28 but i think thats changed?i dont know cos ive ended up seeing somebody once a week in the last trimester of my last 2 pgs due to high bp.

im finding the baby's movements quite painful now.i think im used to anterior placentas !im getting concerned this one has her back to mine iyswim(cant remember the medical term)as im feeling movement loads more than with the last 3,but about the same as with ds1.im also getting severe back pain like i did with ds1.

does anybody know when it is the mw can feel the actual baby when she examines you?i should remember these things seeing as its my 5th and the last one was born only a year ago

kitty-lol at always being pregnant.i had a 4.5 year break from pregnancy before having ds2.this is the last time im doing it but i still want to get it over with quickly.

2000milestoeidsvold · 05/12/2006 21:28

all well here - have bought the 2 dds new car seats so new baby can have dd2's seat which is a birth to 4 one. Not really bought anything else although researching prams - need one with a toddler seat - don't really need a double buggy - don't think we will get the use from a double so looking at this one

here

we did get a bargain on the car seats - saved around $180 they were a new model so marked down as an introductory price and the day I went to get them - an extra 20% off!!

Everything else like cot, change table, moses basket were hand me downs for us to use with dd2.

will just need to get some little bits like blankets, nappies and that is about it. Will probably buy a unisex outfit for coming home just in case it is a boy -otherwise this one can wear the same outfit home that the other two did. WIll go through the clothes I have here and see what needs topping up!

2000milestoeidsvold · 05/12/2006 21:29

not worrying about buying the footmuff or the basinette that goes with the buggy - they cna jsut be under blankets.

I would like to get a sling - have a baby carriers but think a sling will be nicer as this one won't be so old when winter ( such as it is here in Aus) comes.

harktheheraldfoxessing · 05/12/2006 22:29

Hi - feeling very spaced on amoxycillin and half a glass of cava !!

Evenhope - you climbed Glastonbury Tor at 37 weeks - my God girl, I can hardly walk up it when I'm not PG!!!
Your Silver Cross sounds lovely. I always babies snuggled under their cosytoes. I remember sharing a huge old fashioned pram with my brother (I was about 22 months, he was about 4 months), it as so cosy and blissful

I loved being in the pushcahir under the rain cover too, all snug while it poured outside, being pushed around by Mum!

Eids - do you know any good websites or books for aboriginal baby names?

I had bloods and GTT at 28 weeks, then another check in 4 weeks at GP then a consultants check at 36 weeks (with scan for placenta previa), but I think the norm is: 30 and 34 weeks GP, then 36 weeks midwife???

Hope everyone is OK

2000milestoeidsvold · 06/12/2006 03:12

foxy - Don't know where dh got dd1's name from - her name is one aboriginal word for daughter... finally round another girl named the same the other week.

kylie is one

could try this one:

here

a few links here

harktheheraldfoxessing · 06/12/2006 06:53

Eidvs - thanks ever so much for these. here are actually some names/words on these I hadn't seen before, although I'd done some searches.

Cheers M'Dear

I shall get Dh onto this tonight (he shortlisted names for DS amd DD's)

2000milestoeidsvold · 06/12/2006 06:55

we have finally decided I think on our girl's name if it is another dd have already had the boys name left over from dd2

harktheheraldfoxessing · 06/12/2006 07:12

I foind it easier to choose girls names for some reason. Girls names can range from serious to fluffy, whereas with boys, you've just got serious LOL

I quite like:

Adoni
Pier
Monti

Which do you like? Our surname is one syllable.

Must go and get dressed. Its about 7.10am here.....DS's nativity play this morning

kittyschristmascrackers · 06/12/2006 07:14

Morning all
Callie spd is when the liagments holding the pelvis together loosen up too much ( the always loosen to a degree in preg to allow baby out) allowing the bones too much movement. They can often rub together and come out of place. Right off to have a bath whilst all is quiet, only dd2 awake and she is watching cbeebies. I think they are all knackered. the baby does nothing but sleep and sleep at the mo, fab

2000milestoeidsvold · 06/12/2006 07:15

like monti and pier.

we picked dd1's name straight off and no boy's names - thank goodness the obstetrician that did one of my scans was right in saying she was a girl

dd2 I was convinced was a boy and sowe had the boy's name picked early on. With dd2 - her first name is the other name we had been considering for dd1 and finally agreed on her middle name the day before the c-section.

MossletoeAndWine · 06/12/2006 08:56

Eidsvold I am thinking about getting a sling. They just look so cute! Then again I'm waiting until the January sales before I buy anything.

Foxy I love Monti, but my head is full of cricket at the moment so maybe that has something to do with it! Having said that they all sound good. We were the other way tbh, just couldn't pick a girl's name. In the end we settled on one that we both thought was okay iyswim! Good job we're having a boy!

Found out yesterday that Liverpool Women's Hospital has a midwife led birth centre & it looks really great. Except that if you have an epidural I think you have to go into the hosi bit. So am now re-considering my plans for a nice pain free totally numb birth... I think dh will be when I tell him!

Rosydingdongmerrily · 06/12/2006 09:34

Slings are great but only for dh to use, I can't be bothered carrying them more than 9 months now I'm old

I like the names, favourite Monti cuz reminds me of Monty Don the groovy gardener.

Happy birthday to your dd Diva, my ds2 is 2 today, so we are having a family birthday party later. By the way- I sing (or used to) too so can I join the virtual choir?? Used to sing with 'the corrymeela singers' who made records before I joined them and after I left

We haven't heard from Onilly for ages.

26weeks 3 (boy)

LunarSeasonsGreetings · 06/12/2006 09:35

I finally get to see a midwife for the first time since booking-in today. And then once every 4 weeks - can't believe they really don't want to see you at all between 36 and 40 weeks (I'm sure it went to fortnightly, and then weekly last time), but that's what's written on my notes. Staggering that after today I'll only have 3 more appointments unless baby goes overdue!
