diva, how did you use to manage the daily things like shopping, housework etc.. when you got into the 3rd trimester when you were a pg single mum with small children?? i'd be interested to know! i've got to do all that and move house too... just feel like running away.. and i can't even get drunk or go out clubbing, which used to be 2 of my favourite ways of escaping.. just feels like i'm stuck inside my own head with only myself for company and sometimes it is just too much!! sorry i probably sound pathetic i'll shut up

2000milestoeidsvold · 05/12/2006 00:40

away in a muppet - no christmas on the beach - my mother insists on us going to her house.... so we do that for lunch however we will get to the gold coast to visit my db and sil.

We spent the other weekend up the sunshine coast - fab... but over christmas beaches get very very crowded.

weather has been fab here lately - even a cooling storm the other night was most welcome.

got to cuddle friend's little one - she was so cute... friend looking very well considering. Scarily I was talking to her Friday afternoon and she was fine.... gastro bug hit about 9pm that night!!

Laidbackinamanger · 05/12/2006 04:26

Hi fellow march mums

I am feeling upbeat today. We had a good, if wet, monsoon weekend. Eidsvold, I too got to squidge babies ! My friend is back in Sri Lanka with her 9 week old girl twins (Coco and Freda) and they are adorable. Leo - they are non identical and were born at 39 weeks - both nearly 6lbs !!! So now feel incredibly excited AND broody again...if that is possible

We went up to Colombo yesterday and all the Christmas decorations were up...which was beautiful but weird . It is predominantly a buddhist country with a smaller populations of hindus, christians and muslims. My DH had to see a consultant about a testicuar lump he had found... but good news is that it is just an epidydimal cyst.

We also went to a good friends wedding. He is a conservative muslim, so all the women were in one hall (including the bride) and the men and the groom were all together in another. Very different. Rosy are you and your man married ...did you have a muslim ceremony ?

Kitty - the last time I fitted into any 7-8 clothes was when I was about 5. My great grandmother, may she rest in peace, always described me and my ability to breastfeed as "bovine" - charmed I'm sure.

Diva/Boo - I used to sing too and loved it. Now just sing in the house , much to my childrens obvious embarrassment.

Moss... don't let work get in the way of your ...well ...um...work. Get slacking !!

Fatfox - have the cards arrived yet ?

Rainbow... you will be OK hun. Some practical suggestions... can you do your shopping online and freeze stuff like bread and milk so you don't run out ? And can you start planning your move now ? Enlisting support from all and sundry? Start packing what you don't need and maybe ask friends/family to get some professional movers to help out as a christmas present. Remember you have been ill, you have been through an emotional few months, you are already a mum and you are pregnant. You can't do it all perfectly !

oh just looking through old pics and saw some pics dh had taken of my belly the day before I had dd2 by elective c-section.... was 41+3 weeks - bloody hell I was huge and I feel even bigger this time round - hate to see what I will be like when it is all over!!!!

MossletoeAndWine · 05/12/2006 07:01

Morning all,

I will catch up properly I promise. Just work's gone a bit manic and today the big big boss is in (think Emperor Palpatine compared to the day to day Darth Vader and you get the idea).... then I'm in work until eight so it'll doubtless be tomorrow before I get chance to catch up!

Although you should never scan read, gets confusing; Laidback for the life of me I thought you'd gone to a Columbo exhibition you know as in "there's just one thing still bothers me..."

Rainbow I don't know what advice to give except that I am sure you are doing a brilliant job to the best of your ability, in very difficult circumstances and don't let anyone tell you any different.

Better go shower now and get to work need a bah humbug smiley really!!!

Rosydingdongmerrily · 05/12/2006 07:22

Eidsvold I know what you mean, I can't believe have still got to get bigger and bigger and bigger for another 3 months!
I shouldn't moan though, at least there is only one in there!

Laidback your friends babies sound adorable!
I married dh twice...first a little religious ceremony in a tiny mosque in Dublin, then later a big family and friends registry office and pals Indian restaurant in Belfast for a big spicy feed. Everyone mixed together but I know what you mean by a traditional wedding though. First time I went to Pakistan was for a wedding. It was amazing. The women have a BALL much more fun than the men I bet!

Last night ds2 only woke twice (yay) but dd woke at 4.30 and didn't settle til 6.15 then 6.20 ds2 was up! Argh

Dh isn't here yet and I am worried about his health cuz he had a small blackout 10 days ago and is getting pains in his chest So he has a dr app Thurs.

Rainbow I do know how you feel, For different reasons I am also struggling with the practicalities of life and feel frustrated not to have the energy and get up and go I usually have to deal with things. All you can do is keep going and visualise a time in the future when things will be different. Also you are a writer didn't you say? And this difficult life experience will be usefull to you in the future!!!

Fox hope you are feeling better, if you come across the name of that sleeping rub let me know and I'll try it (I'll try anything)

OCalliecomeallyefaithful · 05/12/2006 09:18

Morning all

Just wanted to say hello with my new Christmas name!

Rainbow, it must be so hard to do this alone with another child needing you too. You have all my admiration. Keep your chin up if you can and try and enlist as much support as possible. Sorry for asking but does your dd's dad see her? Can he take on a bit more of the caring at the moment if so?

AmieR · 05/12/2006 10:11

Good Day All. I hope everyone is well!

This wind is insane! Its so blowy here, has been since Saturday night, and next door's dodgy gate is keeping me awake! I wish I was like DH, as soon as he hits the pillow he's oblivious to everything... for now that is!

Les Mis was very good! Really enjoyed my day, but felt so tired at the end of it!

Can actually see my belly moving now when LO moves around, which is a funny thing to see. DH wants to see but everytime I call him to see, LO stops! I think he's taking it personally! That's got to be a girl thing! Got Dad wrapped round their finger from an early age! LOL so this is reinforcing the very strong female inclination I have!

Not sure if this is normal, but feeling a huge amount of pressure on my lady bits.. feels like the whole of my innards are wanting to force their way out through my fanjo. Is this LO just growing or something else, I see my MW on thursday should I mention it to her?

Rainbow - I hope things calm down for you soon and things get a little easier for you. Hope someone out there can help.

Rosydingdongmerrily · 05/12/2006 10:16

Amie, I feel alot of pressure down below when I get braxton Hicks contractions. You may aswell mention it to the mw, just to be reassured.

Piffle · 05/12/2006 10:34

hello all checking in
Crikey you lot don't half put on some messages in a few days away!
Amazing so many getting Braxton Hicks, I have had a few, I got tons with dd esp in last 10 weeks. including one false alarm
Had 25 wk check yesterday, all ok.
Everything else hunky, recovered almost fully now from appendix saga. Am bone tired today, dd is getting over cough and cold and kept clearing her throat alnight long. She sleot through it, I was not so lucky, plus the wind oh the wind outside!
On the plus side appear to have the piles under control, one marathon effort to add mega fruit and bran flake meal to my day.
plus drinking water almost constantly, which of course being preggers means visiting to lo every half an hour.
The joys!
Anyone else, just want this pregnancy thing over with and a baby just there?
Or conversely who is really enjoying their pregnancy and finding it a spiritually enriching experience (FWIW I had that with my 1st)
Seasons greetings to all, at least xmas makes the next month fly away time wise, then you shop your way through January...

Ok so who is buying stuff?
What have you bought?
Yay!

harktheheraldfoxessing · 05/12/2006 11:01

Piffle Hi - you sound a lot chirpier; how R U feeling now? I'm getting very impatient and want to meet DS2. less than 3 weeks to Christmas, then 5/6 weeks at work, then feet up and wait . I found the first PGcy spiritually enriching, felt amazing having a wee baby growing inside, but for me I think each PGcy gets more pedestrian than the last as you get more tired (having LOs to care for) and older too!!

Moss - LOL at your annoying work demands

Diva - Hapy Birthday to DD2 today I wish I could sing, I'm completely tone deaf.

Morocco - I'm going to work as long as poss. DH only gets one week paid paternity, so he'll probably take one weeks annual leave as well. TBH he gets on my nerves a bit when he's at home all day - kind of cramps my routine a bit anyone else find that?

Rainbow - its fine to be all over the place. You can't do everything. Lower your expectations of yourself and give yourself a break. You can ask at the till for help with packing and carrying shopping to your car. I always park in disabled bays if all the kiddie ones are taken, as I consider being heavily PG with LOs in tow to be very disabling. BTW I only do hat if there are lots of disabled bays free (wouldn't take the very last one). You seem to feel worse when DP e-mails you. Sounds to me like he's messing with your head?

Can you get someone to help with the moving? I wish you were nearer to us so we could help. You can get some good deals on removal men with vans and they can do the packing too.

Laidin a manger - Dr Who cards have not arrived yet. But will let you know when hey do. I posted mine two days after you, so let us know when they appear too. Fab news about DH, you must ave been really worried

Rosy - wil get he details of he sleep remedy from Quokka for you. Still have not posted the DVD as was poorly yesterday but will soon.

Aime - that pressue on your fanjo is probably just the position of the LO. Anyone had the feeling that LO is tickling your fanjo with its feet?

Went to GP yesterday and have bronchitis, so off work again!!!! A least I got to listen to Woman's Hour. DD poorly too. She sat down yeserday and told me, very earnestly "Mummy I'm pregnant". She's 3. Had a vision of the same conversation in 20 years time....

awayinamuppet · 05/12/2006 11:02

Piffle - I have begged and borrowed (not had to resort to stealing yet!) practically all baby goods and clothes. However, I figure it's good karma returning to me as I gave away every scrap of baby equipment I had 6 or so years ago after my ds was born. This is because I was NEVER having any more children... ooops

I also want this pregnancy over with - i'm not very good at being pregnant and the whole concept of my body being so responsible for it's well being freaks me out when I think about it. Much happier once they're out!

Rainbow - definately attempt an internet shop - lots of them don't charge for delivery now and then all you need to do is make sure you're in at the time you booked it for. It would be so much less hassle for you
Did the checkout person make any jokes about spilt milk?

Eidsvold - you don't even want to know what the weather is like here. Just got another text from my mum saying they've just been watching dolphins!

Piffle · 05/12/2006 11:05

Thanks, yes a lot chirpier, because of the rest I had over 2-3 wks, my sod has disappeared for the most part- only feeling it late evening when I cna go to bed.
So now I have a little insight into what causes it to flare up worse so am coping much better.
So tbh 4 wks post op, I feel miles better than I did before op, due to no spd.
touch wood

Piffle · 05/12/2006 11:08

sod= SPD

harktheheraldfoxessing · 05/12/2006 11:12

Forgot to ask - does anyone ave experience of sing acupunture to move he placenter up i.e. "cure" placenta previa?

Two Mum's ave told me its proven to work, but I'd be interesed to hear your views?

Piffle - I'm going second and too. In fact my Italian friend is popping round today with sack loads of boys clothes age 0-4

I'm turning into a grumpy old woman when it comes to shopping. atm I hate it and just see "shopping" as buying stuff I don't really need. Its different if its your first baby. Mind you with DS, we got loads of hand me downs, which was great. Said this B4, but a great beliver in hand me downs ....[being boring emoticon]

AmieR · 05/12/2006 11:21

Thanks for the reassurance guys! Just feels very odd at times! Kinda like needing a number 2 out your front bum... sorry if TMI!

Some days I want baby here.. others I quite enjoy being pregnant, but that's always before 5pm! After that it can feel a drag!

LO very active over the past few days, even had me giggling yesterday, did feel a bit weird sat here chuckling to myself.

We've bought a pram thing. Well, DH's parents bought it for us infact. I was going to wait as I was feeling a little superstitous at the time, but it was on offer so it clicnhed it!

Waiting till Jan pay day before any other purchases I think. Almost bought a little newborn unisex set in london though as it was too cute! But I held out!

Glad you're sounding a bit more chipper Piffle!

I don't envy you who are moving, we've been decorating at that's starting to get to me!

Boobooroastingonanopenfire · 05/12/2006 11:25

Morning,

Lovely to hear you sounding so upbeat Piffle: that's great about your SPD. Long may it last!

Rainbow . FWIW, you sound like you're coping a hell of a lot better than I would. I'm finding things hard, and I'm (currently) childless with a DH around. Second the internet shopping suggestion: I never go to supermarkets any more. If you think you won't spend enough in a week to get the free delivery, get it once a fortnight instead, then you can just pop to small shops for bits. (That's what I do). Hope you feel more in control soon.

Foxy: I have no idea about the accupuncture thing. Tend to be a tad sceptical myself, but I know people who swear by it. If nothing else, it's supposed to be very relaxing!

Laidback and Diva: we should start a virtual choir.

I want this baby out: am definitely not finding pregnancy the uplifting, spiritual, beautiful experience I was hoping for. It's just deeply, intrudingly physical. Can't wait to hold my baby in my arms. . OTOH, I want him to stay in there until he's good and ready! I teach a 4YO boy who was born at 28 weeks. He's a titch! Very cute, though.

Rosy: I hope your DH is ok. Keep us posted. Very worrying for you.

Sorry if I've missed anyone out! Should be working atm. Hey ho.

Hi Amie.

I've bought tons of stuff already. I'm already finding it harder to move around, so I thought I'd better get lots of it done before I get any bigger.

We've got a brilliant shop around the corner from us that sells second hand stuff. There are lots of rich Mummies round here, so it tends to be posh. Hooray! (Trying to avoid 'handwash at 30 degrees in french champagne' stuff).

Waiting for the January sales now...

AmieR · 05/12/2006 11:36

you make me smile BooBoo! LOL.

I think Mothercare will take a bashing from us.. I got a load of captial bonds from a supplier as a thank you which can be spent in many a shop, mothercare being one of them. Seems sensible to me.
We've got a fairly big Mothercare world near us which is pregnant whale friendly! And you can park right outside, I'm hoping to cope! I can imagine what DH would come back with if left to his own devices... esp as there is a giant Curry's opposite!

Though the Cotbed sleepy thing we think will be most practical for us is from babies r us. But no real rush for that at the moment. Hopefully!

OCalliecomeallyefaithful · 05/12/2006 11:52

Amie, saying a pram thing isn't good enough - make, model and cost please! Am in the aargghh, far too much choice stage atm.

Apart from the waking three times a night and feeling like I need to poo all the time (TMI???), I'm really enjoying this stage of being pregnant. I just love feeling LO move. I'm also conscious that if I ever have another I won't have the luxury of not having a kiddie to look after so will be far more knackered. However, that's putting the cart waaaaaayyyyy before the horse - let's get this one cooked and out first.

MossletoeAndWine · 05/12/2006 11:59

Right, the Emperor's gone and Darth Vader's out. I'm interviewing in five minutes and then after that I will read everything properly and reply to everything!!! Promise

kittyschristmascrackers · 05/12/2006 12:07

Hello to all. Amie the pressure is likely to be the baby pressing on your pelvic floor. Keep doing the squeezes

AmieR · 05/12/2006 12:08

wracking my pregnant brain OCalliecomeallyefaithful its a Mothercare own... Trenton thinggy, this be easier for us both! rather than me try and think about it! LOL

seemed quite practical, was easily moveable, fitted in both cars too! AND.. I liked the colour!

AmieR · 05/12/2006 12:20

Sorry, Kitty! X Post. Thanks for the info, and will do a few more extra squeezes... squeezes
