Welcome to the thread, for anyone pregnant with a rainbow baby following baby loss.
A lot of us have graduated from the TTC angels and rainbows thread, but please feel free to join us if you are new, to share our highs and lows as we watch our bumps grow and await the safe arrival of our rainbows.

Mmmmh flambola I'm the opposite: I just get fat the sev find I get that second line! I 'diet' all year round (I just lay attention to what I eat really) so I think my body just goes into relax mode and horizontal expansion! I know several people who lost loads of weight at first of couldn't fave any food but crisps/bread/tangfastics, and they have always been reassured that a baby is the most effective kind of parasite and will take what he needs from your own supplies if necessary. So I'd say really look after yourself and take vitamin supplements. And try to get some really wholesome food inside you when you finally feel able to eat: Brazil nuts are meant to be incredibly good during pregnancy and my friend's dietician at the Zita West clinic advised her to have 3 a day. I hope you feel better soon!

So townsender I managed to congratulate you on your pregnancy on the old thread...!!!!! I'd lost this one as I don't post often enough and did a search and...yeah well. Ahem. So I'll blame preggo brain for this!

All is going relatively well here. I am at my mum's in France and the weather is gorgeous. I had a terrible scare on the first night tough as I suddenly felt terrible cramps coupled with backache. I had overdone it by carrying both suitcases and my 3.5yo the previous day but it felt exactly like the onset of the period of the year or my mc at Christmas... All seemed well the next morning after a bath and some rest. Yesterday my dd split her eyebrow open by flying face down into a metal garden chair so we spent the evening in s very tiny and actually pleasant A&E where she got all the attention as we were on our own! They used surgical glue to repair her and quite a few steristrips. Poor mite. You just never ever stop worrying about your children, do you? I spent most of the night staring at her and being thankful.

Lots of love to you all x

Sev find = second!

April1984 · 25/05/2015 08:08

Hi all

tulip, hope you and Bubs are doing well. We are all thinking of you!

Madam, that's scary re back pain etc. I'm actually sat here now in quite bad pain wit back pain, if I hadn't just been for a routine docs appt I'd be massively panicking! Sorry to hear about your DD's fall. I fell off my bike and sliced my eyebrow open and had it glued and I have barely any scar from the glue, much better than stitches.

Afm, lots of aches and pains all week which meant I brought my doc appt forward. Saw bubs this morn, def blue! So they were right on my 12 week scan! I've been trying to keep busy to keep my mind off aches and pains and so have started a website with, it's a bit of a work in progress but feel free to visit if you have a mo! Www.mum-blings.com x

WinterBabyof89 · 25/05/2015 10:17

tulip massive congrats! Hope you & baby are doing well xxx

EllieandAnna · 25/05/2015 10:37

madem hope you're starting to feel better now and dd is ok. I bet it has left you more upset than it has your dd, they're so resilient aren't they but you can't help but worry.

april Still amazed they can tell so early, definitely a ds, congratulations! I like the idea of a blog, it's a nice way to work through your feelings, and pass the time. I bet you're climbing the walls with being so limited with what you can do. I'm writing a diary of sorts, I wrote one when I was pregnant with 'A' so she could look at when she was older. I'm doing the same this time but have my own too for my neurotic ramblings!

Just got back from the midwife and am feeling positive. She said she'll find a reason for an early scan if I feel I need one. I'll also see consultant after dating scan, then have weekly monitoring from 16/20wks then weekly scans from 30wks. Midwife said if either me or dh have any concerns we can call. So pleased to have such a caring midwife, it makes all the difference. A couple of people have outright asked if I'm pregnant which made me flap! It's because I look knackered, there is no glow here! Can't remember being this tired last time.

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend x

kayleighferrie1985 · 25/05/2015 14:08

madem i'm glad the bath and rest have helped your backache, although it mush have been understandably worrying at the time. And your poor dd! I hope she's feeling a bit better now. My dd managed to get a disposable razor when she was 2 and cut her top lip quite badly, and she doesn't have even a slight scar luckily (disposable razors no longer enter this house and the normal razors are kept on a high shelf now).

april congrats on a deffo blue! I've been having quite a lot of aches and pains too, i'm just trying to rest as much as possible when they hit really.

ellie so pleased you have a lovely midwife- you're right that it can make all the difference. And it's great that they've told you what care to expect already. I'm feeling knackered constantly too- dh is off work today and i didn't roll out of bed until 11.10 Hmm

townsender · 25/05/2015 15:06

tulip I'm still so excited for you! Must be amazing having your little boy safely into this world finally. I'd only just joined the thread when Ducky had her little boy, so I think I'm extra excited because you're the first TTC grad I've know to 'graduated', and it's just so lovely - makes us all realise that there will be a baby at the end of this all (and sometimes sooner rather than later). Critter it should be you next (although given a few of us have tendencies for preterm babies, then who knows?!).

April, the blog is a great idea and it looks fab! Layout and fonts etc look very pro. Wow, your first few blog posts did bring back some memories though, how 'normal' we all were in our first pregnancies, its so different this time. Do you know when you will have to start the full-on bed rest? I totally agree with you that bed rest is rubbish, luckily I've never had to do it but I would go crazy so its fab that you have lots of ideas to keep you busy.

For bed-bound ideas, I've not done many box sets, only Downton Abbey (which quite likely you've seen?) which is nice and easy on the brain, and 'Breaking Bad' which is good but borderline on too violent/dark for me.
One idea which you will either love or hate - if you enjoy sudoku then I really recommend 'Beyond sudoku' puzzle books www.puzzler.com/magazines/logic/beyond-sudoku They are not any more complicated than sudoku, just a selection of different types of logic puzzles that are a bit more varied. Just uses a different bit of the brain to reading books!

Ellie I'm glad you had such a positive midwife appt. I think this time is more tiring because of the extra stress and worry, although apparently every pregnancy can be different. Weekly scans from 30 weeks is amazing care.

AFM I'm very excited because DP and I are getting married tomorrow! We're keeping it very low key, the register office followed by posh restaurant for lunch, with just 6 guests (parents+their other halves). I've got a gorgeous dress which really shows off my bump, and I'm off to get my nails done later today, then hair first thing in the morning. I'm very glad the rail strike has been called off as I was getting nervous about the traffic.
It's a fab distraction because I've been pretty nervous this last week. I'm 22 weeks now and just want to get to 24 ... I know it's still a disaster if he comes that early but at least he stands a chance then, unlike if something happens now. Aaargh. Must go back to thinking nice wedding thoughts...

Madem hope dd is recovering!

Town! Wow!!! Hope all goes well Smile

Hope everyone is doing ok can't read properly As I have just been chopping up onions for ages and my eyes hurt

Flambola · 25/05/2015 18:11

I hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow town!

April1984 · 25/05/2015 19:35

Ellie, a diary is a good idea, i also have a diary which i write in but its more for me, I write it when I'm having a really bad day, things i wouldn't want to share online. Its weird sharing things online as I'm generally a private person, but i definitely hold a load back, like the weird bowel movements, achy boobs and the other less glamorous parts of pregnancy! great to hear you have a supportive midwife!

Kayleigh, yes resting helped tho i think being on modified bed rest caused the backache to start with! Its a catch 22!

Town, thanks for looking at the blog and your comments! Its nice to have a project to keep me busy. Its pretty lonely being on bed rest of sorts in a country I've not lived in for long. I haven't been formally told to be on bed rest just to do very little. I will see how things go at my scans and my doc may place me on bed rest at any time. Either way i had planned to put myself on bed rest for July and August which is 22-30 weeks so a key time.

Downtown Abbey is a good idea and Breaking Bad too. I have watched them both but i could definitely re watch them ad i have the on box set. Soduko is a great shout too, i do like normal suduko and will look into the one you've suggested. I definitely need to keep my brain going! its fading already and all being well i won't be back at work for a long time yet and have been off since November. Eek.

Anyway, more importantly, all the best for your big day tomorrow! How exciting, you kept that quiet! it sounds perfect and I'm sure you'll love every minute and try not to worry about your gestation if you can. Have a great day!!

Love to all x

WinterBabyof89 · 26/05/2015 07:25

Sorry not to name check - just wanted to wish town a lovely wedding day!

Nothing to update on me really - DH felt baby kick last week.. Was wonderful.. I read up thread about somebody feeling a lack of excitement in the early stages - as I've grown/ seen him on the 16wk scan/ felt movement, the bonding has aggressively kicked in!

I look massively pregnant this time which is nice but also worrying because I'm not even half way there yet !

Love to you all x

WinterBabyof89 · 26/05/2015 07:26

Just realised I said love to you all after April said something similar - creepy ha..

Have a good day! X

kayleighferrie1985 · 26/05/2015 09:23

town i hope today is just beautiful for you all, and wish you many congratulations Flowers

winter i look rather more rounded this time too, but i tend to carry bigger with girls (a woman asked me when i was pg with Jessie if i was having twins!)

AFM not much to report- 25+1 now. We're seeing the bereavement midwife again tomorrow, and the consultant next Tuesday. I'm so hoping the consultant agrees to induce me at 37 weeks, with the way the anxiety is creeping up i'll no doubt be a wreck if they leave me any longer.

Love to all x

CritterPants · 26/05/2015 15:09

Very very quick message at work to say congratulations towns! I hope it's an absolutely beautiful day for you.

Ducky23 · 26/05/2015 15:30

April I can suggest prison break too!

I'm just finishing it and Michael schofield is bloody gorgeous

Kayleigh, when I saw my consultant I was given the option of a c sec at 39 weeks or induction at 38 but she said if she had to, although she wouldn't advise it, she would be ok to do either at 37. I booked for 38 weeks but had a melt down at 36 weeks convincing myself it had happened again so they offered to induce me/c sec there and then (I was really that anxious/upset Blush) but I went in at 37 weeks. So if you need to, make sure you get the induction/c sec date you want, I've heard some people say some consultants will tell people they won't do it at 37 weeks, but they can!

Sorry not to name check.... Again! X

LakeOfDreams · 26/05/2015 18:43

Tulip congratulations hope your little man is growing well

Town I hope you are having an absolutely perfect day

Hope everyone is doing well

Flambola · 27/05/2015 09:00

I'm sure they'll agree to that kayleigh. My consultant has said that they would like to get me to 38 but depending on my frame of mind they might have to do it earlier. I have a feeling I'll get to 37 + 3 and then go into meltdown like ducky!

Winter, I feel like I look obviously pregnant! I think it might just be a combination of bloat and baby weight from James though, to be honest.

I'm 16 weeks now and I kind of hate this stage. There's no sort of obvious signs that I'm pregnant. My morning sickness has petered off a bit (thank God!) but I can't feel any movement and I've convinced myself the worst has happened. I wish I could feel more positive about this. Sad

Ducky23 · 27/05/2015 09:13

Flambola it is a scary stage then isn't it. I had irregular movement from around 15/16 weeks and I remember at 17 weeks hadn't had anything for two days and went into a panic and called the midwife out to check the HB. They were lovely about it though and came straight out.

It's amazing how chilled out ds is, considering what a wreck I was during pg! Grin

Flambola · 27/05/2015 09:22

Very scary! I'm trying to keep calm until my midwife appointment next week and trying to remember that it's not unusual to not feel movement at this stage!

Fingers crossed we all have chilled out babies then. Grin I'm hoping ours is like my husband - he's very easy. Eat, sleep, poop.

WinterBabyof89 · 27/05/2015 23:06

flambola I found my doppler really helpful this time around - just to check he was still alive!
It's def not unusual not to feel them bouncing around, pretty normal actually :)

Here's hoping next week rolls around quickly for you!

kayleighferrie1985 · 28/05/2015 10:05

Thank youducky the bereavement midwife said as long as i'm over 37 weeks she doesn't see an issue with inducing early (as long as the extra scans show no problems ect). Apparently my consultant is very agreeable and considerate too so that might help.

flambola good to hear your sickness has eased off a little, sending you hugs for the scary time though, and hope that the time rolls around quickly for you until your next appointment.

AFM had my weekly checkup with the bereavement midwife yesterday, and little madam gave everyone a laugh when hearing the hb by kicking the probe bit! Obviously she took offence at being prodded Grin

April1984 · 28/05/2015 10:57

Hi all hope is well and thx for the bed rest tips.

Just a quick question- have any of you had an UTI caused by EColi bacteria before? Doc doesn't seem too worried but I am! As always! X

Flambola · 28/05/2015 14:41

How cute kayleigh, I can't wait to be able to hear a heartbeat!

Sorry April, I can't help you there. Do you have a UTI at the moment?

Well, I had some bleeding last night and ended up in A&E, hysterical, and then triage. They couldn't find a heartbeat with a doppler so obviously I ended up thinking the worst (while trying to convince myself that you can't necessarily find one at 16w), plus it was the same place where we found out about James. But they did a scan and the little bugger is fine, dancing about with a good heartbeat. Thankfully, the midwives were lovely and understanding. Now I'm sitting here trying to depuff my eyes. I hope everyone else is faring better.

Ducky23 · 28/05/2015 14:45

Sorry april I have no idea Confused

Flambola, how scary for you. How are you now? Do they know what caused it?
X

Flambola · 28/05/2015 15:36

I'm okay now, thanks ducky - but it's made me realise that I am actually really attached to this baby, despite my best efforts. Hmm Blush

It wasn't coming out of my cervix, I remember that! I don't recall much else.

I think I've done okay not to have a breakdown until now!
