bearchomp · 04/05/2015 20:43

Just checking in - hope everyone has had a good bank holiday weekend.
greysar welcome and sorry to hear about mmc.
I'm not feeling too bloated yet but my boobs seem to have got fuller.
Been with friends and family all weekend and hard not to say anything.

CubanoHabana · 04/05/2015 23:03

:-h Hi! suprised to be here, edd 9th Jan, have a 15 month old and said we were waiting until he was 2 before another... Condom split, had morning after pill, then thought af arrived but now think it was implantation bleeding, dreamt I was pregnant and finally did a test (or 3)to find out our plans were brought forward a bit! Typical really, it took us over 6 months of trying last time so this bean is clearly very determined!

impatientlywaiting · 05/05/2015 00:39

Cubano, I have a young DS too, he just turned 1 on Friday. We were going to start trying in about 7 months but have unexpectedly found myself pregnant now. It's quite mixed emotions as I'm so used to being quite controlled it feels very strange to be pregnant earlier than I'd planned. Part of me is feeling guilty about DS1 no longer having me to himself, and worried that it's going to be so hard with 2 young children and the other part is starting to get excited as babies are just amazing and I adore looking after DS1.

I'm having a bit of nausea and my boobs are getting a bit more tender, still BFing DS1 and it was a bit painful this evening which is totally new.

Not entirely sure of my due date, normally have a short cycle and last period was end of March, so NHS calculator says EDD is 3rd Jan, but I know when we conceived and it was only 2 weeks ago yesterday, which the calculators who give the option of conceive date say its 10th Jan.

coffeenut · 05/05/2015 00:44

gouda whereabouts are you to get an early viability scan?

mrsfaz I was saying the same thing to dh last night - exhausted at half nine. Surely my body can't be doing that much work already.

my mood has been crap from time to time too, crashing out (in tears!) almost daily at about 3pm - I find it's much better though when I have enough sleep.

mrsvan hope the spotting has stopped - how are you?

coffeenut · 05/05/2015 00:48

inpatient it's hard at first and then you'll find two is easier than one.

cubano that is one determined bean?!!! Shock!

greysar I'm so sorry for your loss. Fingers crossed for you for this time Flowers

goodnessgraciousgouda · 05/05/2015 05:39

Good luck to everyone, especially those feeling nervous about previous experiences.

Coffee - I'm actually in France (Lyon). Over here, unless you go to a private clinic (which the government doesn't cover the full cost for), then you have to have a scan at 8 weeks to determine viability.

It's quite harsh really - the public hospitals are so busy that they want to screen out any non viables first. You first have an appointment with a gp, who then writes a referral for you to have blood tests done, and another for the scan.

greysar · 05/05/2015 08:20

Goodnessgracious, I spent the best part of a year in Lyon during my degree, working out near Limonest- it's a beautiful city, I'm very jealous! Have you been there long?

goodnessgraciousgouda · 05/05/2015 08:52

Grey - I've been here for 18 months, or just over. For some reason Lyon has always reminded me of Brighton!

greysar · 05/05/2015 09:01

Haha very true- I hadn't been to Brighton before I went to Lyon, but when I did finally go a couple of years ago I was wandering around the Lanes muttering to myself 'ooh this looks like the Old Town but with fewer Rabelais/silk references'!

bearchomp · 05/05/2015 09:41

cubano wow that bean was not giving up! Congratulations.
Nausea kicked in a bit more today, had it really bad last time and it was one of the reasons we weren't going to have anymore but I'm hoping I don't put too much weight on early as all I did was eat and eat last time - stodge was the only thing that stopped the nausea but eating for 15hrs out of 24 was NOT a good look.....Blush
Did many people put much weight on in previous pregnancies?
How is everyone feeling today? Any new symptoms?

crumble74 · 05/05/2015 09:47

Hi all, just wanted to say that I also really like Seraphine for "special" pieces, I got some really lovely summer dresses for my last pregnancy there although one I bought on mail order absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke so that was returned immediately with a stern note!

I also really liked Gap maternity stuff but it is frustrating that you can only browse online & not in a shop. V easy to return though (collect +)

I wore things over bump last time round but I only really "stuck out" for my last trimester. Things may be different this time round.

crumble74 · 05/05/2015 09:50

looking I know what you mean. I was actually really low when I first found out & have been quite moody recently as well. I'm sure you'll be back to your usual upbeat self very soon!

crumble74 · 05/05/2015 09:55

Sorry for the posts I missed. graysar welcome & all the best for you after your mmc. I too found out about my mmc at a scan but at 10 weeks. It was a horrible experience & it made for a very cautious first trimester when I got pregnant again. It was fine but I'm still treading cautiously this time around too. We're here for you! X

goodnessgraciousgouda · 05/05/2015 09:59

Bear - this is my first pregnancy, so I don't have anything to compare it to. I've been surprised at how bloated I am though, which tends to get worse throughout the day. I don't think my appetite has really changed since getting the bfp.

Has anybody else been waking up at ridiculous times in the morning? I keep waking up at 0600 in the mornings and really needing the loo. Today it was at 0515!!!! Then I can't get back to sleep afterwards! Confused

Also, has anybody here told anyone other than their partner's about their pregnancy yet? I said to DH that I didn't want to tell anyone until after the 12 weeks check up (fingers crossed we get that far!).

However, one of our good friends here is also pregnant at the moment, and I keep thinking it would be so helpful if I could just fucking ASK her what I needed to do, and when I needed to do it by. I've seen a lot of conflicting information about first appointments. Thing is, she is a clever sod, so would guess in a heartbeat.

What about everyone else? I honestly think this is going to be one of the slowest months of my life waiting for a first appointment!!

crumble74 · 05/05/2015 10:01

Hi cubano & impatiently, I have a 10 month old DS! He is only just getting into crawling so I do hope he can walk before no 2 arrives, I don't think my back can take it! It took us 2+ years to have no.1 so I didn't expect to be expecting so soon!

greysar · 05/05/2015 10:07

Thanks crumble Smile

Gouda (quicker than typing Goodnessgracious Smile DH told his parents- his dad's helping us replace our kitchen at the moment, I've been more active than DH in the whole exercise, so he felt he needed to tell them I wasn't going to be lazy for the remainder, just pregnant... or at least that's how he justified it, I think he was just excited. Kinda wish he hadn't told them, I feel like it's jinxed it... completely irrational! Could you tell your friend and get the lowdown, and swear her to secrecy? Is she one of those people who can't keep quiet?

Waiting for a phone call from the (nasty but available) GP to discuss spotting... terrified already Sad

goodnessgraciousgouda · 05/05/2015 10:22

Oh no, fingers crossed for you geyser. You know they say occasional spotting is normal during pregnancy, but I know that would never make it any less terrifying!!! I would be furious if DH told his family without my permission Shock You are clearly much more laid back (i.e reasonable!).

I keep crying/bursting into tears. Sometimes because something small upsets me disproportionately, but sometimes it just for NO reason at all! I hope it's the hormones...

I don't think my friend would mean to let others know, but she would tell her partner, then it would eventually just get round to the others, which I really don't want.

greysar · 05/05/2015 11:20

Oh I'm not reasonable at all! Grin he was allowed to tell them as a trade-off because I'd told my chinese medicine practitioner earlier that day (only way I ovulate with any regularity is apparently to drink a fuckton of disgusting herbs every day and I needed to order more/cancel my order)

Could you ask her not to tell her husband? Hmm or to impress on him NOT TO TELL ANYONE AS IT'S INTENSELY PRIVATE? Men...

GP (turned out not to be the nasty one) is referring me to the local EPU, and told me not to worry too much, lots of women experience spotting. No idea what the EPU will be able to do at 4 weeks though.

impatientlywaiting · 05/05/2015 11:22

Greysar hoping you get through to your GP soon and that your mind can be put at rest. I'm sure that overall spotting is common and just another symptom of pregnancy, but it's so hard not to worry about everything in these early days isn't it. Hope you are doing okay.

Crumble DS1, has just starting taking steps so hopefully he should be walking fine by Jan too. My sister had 11.5 months between her first two babies and her first couldn't walk until he was 18 months old so it was such hard work for her carrying 2 around for 6 months. Her experience has kind of terrified me about small age gaps!

Bear I put on a ridiculous amount of weight last time round, 5 stone in total, I'm down 4 stone of that now, so starting this pregnancy a stone heavier, but hoping not to go crazy again this time and keep gain to about 2 stone, I know exactly why I did put on so much last time, I didn't stop eating and couldn't even blame nausea for it, I was just a bit out of control.

Did someone earlier say they were hypothyroid? I had post partum thyroiditis and as yet my thyroid function hasnt returned to normal yet. Take 150mg of thyroxine each day and have an appointment on Thur to tell GP about being pregnant, I've read some scary things about pregnancy whilst being hypothyroid and the risks involved, so hoping they can make the referrals they need pretty early.

4+2 (or 5 weeks by official NHS calculator)

impatientlywaiting · 05/05/2015 11:26

Greysar I don't think they can see much on an internal scan this early but perhaps they'll take blood tests to monitor your HCG. I think sometimes they do them 2 days apart to see the rate the HCG is increasing which would hopefully put your mind at rest that everything is as it should be.

loveulotslikejellytots · 05/05/2015 12:14

Goodness - yes, been falling asleep at 9pm but wide awake at 5:30/6:00 Hmm. It's a bit of a pain but I'm hoping it will ease off soon.

As for telling people, so far it's just me, DH and a really good friend at work. She guessed, we go for a coffee after work once a week, both have been TTC and I ordered a decaf coffee. She started squealing in the middle of costa!

We've got both sets of parents coming round Thursday which doesn't happen very often, think we are telling them Thursday. We'll probably tell our best friends (they are a couple) in a few weeks, only because we have a wedding and birthday party all 4 of us are invited to and £70 worth of taxi's are booked to take us to and from both events. Obviously we can cancel that now because I'll be driving!

goodnessgraciousgouda · 05/05/2015 12:41

grey - I can't see the comparison between telling a complete stranger to stop a repeat prescription, and telling PARENTS, but there you go!! As long as you don't mind, that is the only thing that matters. I'm glad that your appointment was productive - at least you know that they are DOING something.

Bear and impatient - France is really strict about how much weight you are allowed to gain during pregnancy. It's 12kg for singletons, and I'm not sure about multiples. It's a policy that UK and US people tend to scoff at, but it's actually a pretty good idea as far as I can see.

On my side, after a rather pathetic e-mail to my husband wailing that I didn't know what the fuck I should be doing, he has organised a doctor's appointment for me on Thursday evening. I'm a little worried about the blood tests as I have a tendency to faint as soon as they put the tourniquet on me.

Actually, I am terrified of the blood tests Grin

Lookingforadvice123 · 05/05/2015 12:53

Afternoon all hope everyone is well.

gouda I'm extremely bloated too, before going to bed last night I literally looked 6 months pregnant. Still no sickness or anything mainly just the sore boobs and a bit more cramping last night/this morning. I am feeling more tired but struggling to sleep at night!

Re telling people, we've already told my sister, as we stayed with her on the weekend and I thought she'd guess as I wasn't drinking (although she said she wouldn't have!). We're telling both sets of parents on Saturday as I'll (hopefully) be nearly 6 weeks, and I couldn't go until 12 weeks without telling them. I've also told my best friend who's travelling, but that's it, everyone else will be told after the 12 week scan.

Sorry to those who've suffered mc Sad

Feeling quite anxious about the risk of mcs today, am I right that the risk goes down quite a lot after 7 weeks? I could've sworn I read that somewhere and that's what's making me nervous - feels like it could all go wrong over the next week or two as I'm 5 weeks 1 day.
