mrsfazruns · 03/05/2015 12:32

So sorry embolio! :-(

originalusernamefail · 03/05/2015 12:33

Oop North Cazzy, raining here too. Me and DS are trying to spot the "Tour de Yorkshire" from the bedroom window.

mrsfazruns · 03/05/2015 12:33

Cazzybaby I'm originally from scotland but current living near bicester x

CarrotVan · 03/05/2015 12:42

Manchester, Cazzy, the weather is crap here too.

Mummyofonesofar · 03/05/2015 13:09

We are doing a spring clean here. Raining in Cumbria but from London/Kent originally!

Cazzybaby · 03/05/2015 14:18

We are all spread out across the country! I've been trying to work out how pregnant I'll be for certain things coming up this year! Will be 22/23 when we go away in the summer guess that's an ok time to travel!

TeaandCake91 · 03/05/2015 16:06

I'm in Staffordshire where it is raining and Dh and I are painting! Well we were until I decided I needed a rest so now Dh is painting and I am in bed!

Hi! Is it ok to join in? My due date is 7th jan, got my first positive Thursday and the news is just starting to sink in.
Quick qu- when is your first midwife appointment? The receptionist at the docs said not to see the doc but to wait and see the midwife, that appointment is for when I will be 6-7 weeks.

moon8404 · 03/05/2015 17:28

hi all congrats on all your BFPs. can i join please? ! got my first BFP last Monday, from my dates looks like EDD is 9 Jan Smile it was our first month of TTC so are quite surprised but very excited!

CarrotVan · 03/05/2015 17:32

The midwife booking in appointment round here is 7-8 weeks. They book you in for your scan and 12 week bloods (if you're having the combined test) at that first appointment. I think I get 7 appointments (as it's second) at 8, 12, 20, 28, 35, 37, and 39 weeks or something like that.

At the booking in appointment here they take a medical history, weigh and measure you, take blood and urine samples, talk through your antenatal care and make your scan appointment - takes about an hour. All my other antenatal appointments were 10 minutes with a midwife. It's amazing how little intervention there is if you're otherwise healthy and have a straight forward pregnancy

CarrotVan · 03/05/2015 17:33

There are quite a few of us now - it's great to have company at this nervy time. I'll be a stress head until my 12 week scan

Lottiedaydreambeliever2014 · 03/05/2015 17:54

Thanks for that info CarrotVan. I know what you mean about the 12 week scan, I'll be excited but i will have it in the back of my mind that you don't know till then how it's going, fingers crossed it will be a healthy nine months for us all. Smile

mrsfazruns · 03/05/2015 17:57

This group is keeping me sane ..... Trying not to tell people is a killer!! Been in bed snoozing for 4 hours ... I feel exhausted!!

Moon ..... We have same due date xx

CarrotVan · 03/05/2015 18:05

Please make me step away from ebay maternity clothes auctions. Not least because I've got quite a bit in storage.

Lottie - it all varies a bit from place to place and if you have anything that might raise your risk then you'll probably get more appointments

mrsfazruns · 03/05/2015 18:07

Lol carrotvan .... I've started thinking I can't wait to go shopping!! My boobs are not sore yet but so swollen my current bras are digging in!!

CarrotVan · 03/05/2015 18:11

The thing is there's so little maternity wear in actual shops that it's really hard to go shopping - all the full maternity ranges are online and you can really decent secondhand stuff on eBay.

If anyone in the transpennine neck of the woods by the way, there's a Mamas and Papas factory shop in Huddersfield where you can get proper bargains on everything

mrsfazruns · 03/05/2015 18:22

Carrotvan you have just made me day .... DH is from sheffield so will be making a trip when we are "allowed" to buy stuff x

headlesschicken247 · 03/05/2015 19:33

Tentatively marking my place. Will confirm tomorrow. Bit nervous to say anything yet. Would be 9th....

CarrotVan · 03/05/2015 19:46

9th of Jan rather than 9th baby, headless?

TeaandCake91 · 03/05/2015 19:47

Good luck headless - fingers crossed for you. Ooh clothes - I think I will like that part. Just know I'm going to spend all night working out when I will need them and what to buy!

originalusernamefail · 03/05/2015 19:59

Gah, maternity clothes. Hope they've improved since I had DS. Is it really bad I'm sat typing this in a pair of maternity jeans? My normal waistbands pressing on my waist are really uncomfortable and don't help my nausea any Blush.

I'm in a bit of dilemma now as I was planning on some new clothes as my meds (so I thought) were making me gain weight / bloat, but I don't want to spend loads on stuff that will be unwearable in a few months but it's ridiculously early for proper mat stuff............

headlesschicken247 · 03/05/2015 20:00

God yes -jan!!!
Have been trying for #2 for about 18mths. 2xmc. Fx but this date would be the same as ds1!

Cazzybaby · 03/05/2015 21:25

Carrot I'm as bad as you I checked out the ASOS maternity section today and popped a few bits into my favourites in case they get reduced in the sale!

loveulotslikejellytots · 03/05/2015 21:39

I've picked up a softer bra today. Not a maternity one, but non wired. My boobs are making a break for freedom at the moment. I've been wearing my sports bra today, it actually helped with the soreness a little bit. My jeans aren't feeling as comfy as they used to, I have a feeling I'll be moving into leggings quite a lot soon!

How/when is everyone telling close family? DH wanted to wait until 12 weeks so we had a scan picture to show parents. I'll be telling my boss at 12 weeks so it felt a bit wrong that our parents would only find out slightly before!

By chance we've got both sets of parents round for dinner on Thursday, so I think we're one telling them on Thursday. Any ideas how we could do it? Rather than DH just dropping it into conversation?
