Congrats on the BFPs Bluebird and Amy!

Would, massive congrats on the twins. What amazing news. Xx

coffeenut · 16/05/2015 02:27

TWINS!!! Fabulous. Congrats would Grin

And congrats amy and bluebird - amy your name looks familiar, were you on the May conception thread?

I think re breastfeeding, it's best to keep an open mind, you never know what will work for you until you try it (whether it's breast or bottle). For me, exclusively bfing my DC was by far the easiest and cheapest option. But breastfeeding is certainly not for everyone and certainly not the best for all babies (some thrive on the bottle when they just didn't on the boob).

Feeling shit and bloated today.

coffeenut · 16/05/2015 02:32

and yeah partners can definitely get involved by feeding breastmilk via bottles! It's great to express and freeze it, gives you a bit more freedom.

Chip86 · 16/05/2015 04:59

Welcome Amy and bluebird congratulations
would such exciting news twins

I used to give DD the odd bottle of formula as she was a hungry baby it was fine
Some bottles can change babies latch on nipple and make them lazy to suck.
Also if you want to express invest in a good pump I got a manual pump and got nothing out of it.
My DH would give the bottles as she would not take them off me because she could smell me, but it was never a brake Wink he would ask were are the bottles, were is the formula, am I doing it right each time Grin hehehe, he is very good and a brilliant hands on dad Smile

Rollermum · 16/05/2015 05:45

Welcome and congratulations to Bluebird and Amy!

And congrats on the twins Would! Was it a total surprise?!

If planning to BF best advice I got was to get prepared beforehand (from my sister who couldn't BF). I read around, watched some YouTube videos and found support numbers / groups for if / when it got difficult.

wouldleavehomeforIdrisElba · 16/05/2015 06:23

Thanks for all the good wishes ladies.
Roller..not a total surprise as this was our last attempt using IVF with donor eggs. However I had absolutely convinced myself by Wednesday that it was all over as my boobs were less sore and I had a spot of blood ( turns out this was likely to be from cervix where I had poked myself with the progesterone gel applicator).
On the bf.....I would love to crack it this time but wont beat myself up if it doesn't work out.

parsnipbob · 16/05/2015 06:25

Hello everyone, tentatively showing my face here as got my (faint) BFP yesterday at 10dpo. Don't know if we do stats here but if so mine are age 25, 1st baby, EDD January 26.

Nice to see some familiar faces :)

AmyFlame1986 · 16/05/2015 07:34

coffee yes I was, mainly lurked though as I was too busy symptom spotting! It was our first cycle and because of that I am worried it might not all turn out ok, which is silly I know.
Morning impatiently chip and roller congratulations all on your BFP, does it still feel very weird?
parsnip so pleased you got your BFP
Stats wise, 1st baby, 29 and EDD 21/22nd January!
While me and DH are both super excited we didn't honestly think it would happen this quickly so getting used the idea is very odd.

I'm at a wedding today which should be fun but I have no idea how to avoid the bubbles!! I think I might just carry a glass around with me.... Any tips?

So pleased I have you lot to share the journey with!

Blimeygirl · 16/05/2015 07:49

Amy if your partner is going with you to the wedding I'd do the switching trick so once they have finished, or nearly finished their drink swop glasses. Honestly people aren't as observant as they think! For what it's worth I'm going out for a meal then off to a cocktail bar with girlfriends tonight. I have told them all I'm not drinking as we are trying to increase our chances of getting pregnant! Even if they have guessed then they are too good to say anything!

goodnessgraciousgouda · 16/05/2015 08:00

Congratulations wouldleave on the twins! Great news!!

Hello to all the newbies!

CharChar2015 · 16/05/2015 08:07

Hi all... Hope you don't mind if I join you all? I'm hoping I can keep up - it looks like a busy thread Shock

I got an early BFP day before yesterday at 12 dpo (and ovulated CD12 so like I said early lol)... Very very early days so not wanting to get too excited... TBH I'm a bit of a nervous wreck as I had a miscarriage in Feb at 9 weeks Sad

Does someone collate stats ? I'm 32... This is baby #2 (Dd is 19 months). EDD 26.01.16

brickiemum2 · 16/05/2015 08:44

Well ms feelings have definitely kicked in this morning. Cooking the kids some French toast for breakfast and I had to make a run for it to the bathroom. Wasn't actually sick but only through a sheer battle of wills. I'm still sitting here with a mouth that will not stop watering and a morning coffee that does not want to stay put. Envy

ValancyJane · 16/05/2015 08:47

Welcome Amy, Bluebird and Char :)

Amy I sympathise - I'm off to a hen do tonight! Can you drive and then claim you've already had your one drink? Or have lemonade and claim you're mixing with vodka? Or (the one I'm going with tonight) tell friends that OH cooked chicken that was underdone last night and I've been ill all day, and planning to leave fairly early feigning illness. Don't know if they'll buy it as I never usually turn down an opportunity for wine, mind! Will be telling the bride soon as she's a really close friend, but am not stealing her thunder tonight, and also don't want all the other people out to know...

By the way, this morning I'm now worrying about the fact that I'm only cramping on my left side, not my right. I know, I need to get a grip!!

brickiemum2 · 16/05/2015 08:49

Makes me incredibly nervous to cross the line but I guess I'll give stats.....logically it won't affect the outcome either way but still....

Thanks for the congratulations, congrats to all you lovely ladies as well - such an exciting (and terrifying) time.
I already can't stop googling pregnancy related things, feel like I need to know everything I possibly can.

Juniper44 · 16/05/2015 10:44

Char our DDs are the same age Smile

Did a dating Clear Blue this morning and it says I'm 1-2 weeks. Had a weird AF on 30th April, then ovulated on 8th May. Bfp on 6dpo! So it's only 15 days since AF... Confused Alternatively, the bleed was a previous ovulation so I'm now 15dpo...?? I had a MC in late Feb so my cycles have been a bit squiffy anyway.

Consequently, I'm due 'sometime in January!'

Other stats:
Name: Juniper44
Age: 30
DD is 19months
Location: Kington, Surrey. Well, I'm still in bed if I'm honest! Saturday mornng is daddy's shift!

Lookingforadvice123 · 16/05/2015 11:05

Morning all and congrats to all the newly preggo!

Sickness has kicked in for me this week (will be 7 weeks Monday) but it's not bad, only random waves rather than all day and not enough to have me running to the loo. More like a nagging travel sick type feeling. Really hope it doesn't get much worse though although at least it will stop me stuffing my face!

parsnipbob · 16/05/2015 11:17

First timer here. Bricking it. Been around small kids and babies my whole life so that part of it doesn't phase me particularly, but pregnancy does!

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 16/05/2015 11:21

Yay parsnip! Welcome to the preggo bus! Congrats to all 3 from the May thread with their BFP's! Grin

parsnipbob · 16/05/2015 11:33

Thank you MaybeMrs, so nice to see familiar faces :)

What do I do now? Call the GP on Monday?

Tonicandgin · 16/05/2015 11:51

I've just had a positive.

Can't get my head round it as dh and I literally only did it once! I have a 19 month old dd too, how will I cope with 2. Holy crap!

But, yes what do I do next, call the midwife I think was last time and make an initial apt, then it's booking apt and then scan. Sound about right?

Tonicandgin · 16/05/2015 12:02

Been reading through the thread. Congrats everyone, seems to be quite a few of us on here, and several with similar aged dcs.

I recognise some of the names, so wonder if I know some of you from last time too. Wink

Congrats on the twins too!!!!

I'm still bf my 19 month old, and wondering what to do about tandem feeding. I don't really want to stop feeding, but not sure I could hack tandeming.

I think in reality, I'm flapping like mad. Didn't expect to be pg, needs to sink in!

Tonicandgin · 16/05/2015 12:07

Roller mum/Juniper Wink Thanks

I've not posted in Sept 13 either, prob won't until I have a scan. I have a different username now than last time, but shouldn't be too tricky to work out who I am.

Bluebird89 · 16/05/2015 12:49

Congratulations Tonic

Parsnip and Tonic I've been thinking the same thing, should I call the GP now or wait until I'm a few more weeks. All this waiting for a BPF and now I feel like all I can do is sit and wait a bit more!

Tonicandgin · 16/05/2015 13:26

From what I remember from last time the booking apt is at about 9 wks. Then scan around 12 wks. I think I'm only about 3 wks so planning on leaving it a few weeks.

The initial apts are just to give you info, so I'll leave that for now I think. Might ring in about 3 wks or so.

Hopefully I'll have got my head round it by then!
