ValencyJane - I having been having cramps like period pains all week since getting my bfp on Monday. Have seen loads of comment on here saying that this is normal so that helped with my stress levels. Happy to say they have eased off today. Hang on in there and they do seem to get better at least in my experience

Joey0805 · 15/05/2015 17:17

ValancyJane - me too; on Monday night they woke me up and were more painful than my regular period pains would be. I was also away from home with work which made me feel pretty crap. But no bleeding and only really light ones since then. Trying really hard not to stress about them as everyone seems to have them near enough but it's not nice is it!

brickiemum2 · 15/05/2015 18:09

Yip, I've had cramps all day today too. It's horrible.

Lookingforadvice123 · 15/05/2015 18:14

valency am I right that you're very early after getting an early BFP? If so, I had quite strong cramps when I must've been around 9-15 dpo, they lasted a few days. I put it down to implantation so yours could be the same?

I still get some mild cramps, including lower back.

What's everyone's intention for feeding, is everyone going to at least give breast a go or are some going straight to bottle? I'm going to try breast to start with but I really don't want to EBF even at the early stages, as I don't want to be in a position where I can't leave the baby even for a few hours. Plus I want dh to be able to help out with feeding! I've read that it's possible to do mixed, have any mums already with dc had any experience?

Juniper44 · 15/05/2015 18:18

I had weeks of cramping last time but apparently it can just be caused by your uterus stretching for the first time.

mrsfazruns · 15/05/2015 18:39

@lookingforadvice123 Im going to try breast feeding!!! Didn't get a chance with my first and would love to this time!! Hoping to express so DH can have help x

goodnessgraciousgouda · 15/05/2015 18:41

Joey - if you get any spotting or bleeding at all, or if the pains stay quite bad, then it may be worth speaking to your doctor. Strong cramping can be associated with ectopic pregnancies (especially when accompanied by spotting). Then again, obviously it's hard for us to tell on a forum how bad your cramping has been.

I had quite a lot of cramping (and backache) for the first week or so, but it was never anywhere near as bad as my regular period cramps. Although to be fair, they are usual very painful.

At the end of the day, all the doctor can do is give you an early scan ASAP. If it isn't ectopic then - amazeballs - you got a free early scan out of it. If on the tiny chance it is, then it's obviously better to know as soon as you can.

I severely doubt it is, but just bear it in mind if the cramping stays bad.

goodnessgraciousgouda · 15/05/2015 18:47

looking - oooo!! Controversy!! On feeding I think it's an interesting question. I'm happy to give breast feeding a go, but I also have no qualms switching to formula if it doesn't work out for any reason. Luckily there isn't the same militant attitudes to breast feeding here, so people just let you do whatever the fuck you want.

Even if I manage to EBF though, I definitely feed (breast milk) from a bottle on a regular basis, starting very early on. I've heard lots of stories about babies refusing bottles when mother's start to try to wean, and I can't be doing with any of that nonsense. Also, it would help DH to be able to help with feedings sometimes.

wouldleavehomeforIdrisElba · 15/05/2015 18:54

hello everybody.....I've not posted in a while. It's very busy on here now. ..congrats to all newbies.
I had practically convinced myself that it waa all o er for me and that my lessening symptoms meant another mmc. However I am thrilled to be tellling you that this morning I went to EPU and a scan revealed TWO beautiful little heartbeats. Its still early days (6w4d) and a long way to go but I feel sooo reaasured.

FizzyPinkWine · 15/05/2015 19:02

That is amazing news, would. Wow, twins!!

brickiemum2 · 15/05/2015 19:22

Wow! Amazing news!

On the feeding front I've only ever ebf and I'm probably what you would refer to as fairly enthusiastic about it lol so formula isn't an option for me personally apart from as a life saving measure.

Niffertiti · 15/05/2015 19:30

Oooh, would! Twins! First set on here I think!

I never did my stats:

Niffertiti
33
No DCs
1 previous MC
BFP 1 May
EDD 12 jan
Private reassurance scan 28 May, booking in appt 26 May

Is that it?

Lookingforadvice123 · 15/05/2015 19:52

Wow TWINS!!!!! Congrats Flowers

gouda is expressing for a bottle still classed as EBF then? I know none of this info! I would give that a try I think, as early as possible as you say. Dh's friend's baby is 4 months and EBF, he won't take a bottle at all now so the poor mum is glued to him. No disrespect to mums who want to EBF with no expressing! It's just not for me, plus I know DH will want to have a go at feeding too.

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 15/05/2015 19:52

Congrats on the twins would! Incredible news!

Had a bit of cramping today, some of it was quite bad but only lasted a few minutes. Also felt a teeny bit queasy first thing this morning but it soon eased off.

OTheHugeManatee · 15/05/2015 20:02

OMG twins! Congratulations!

I don't really know about bf, I'll definitely give it a go but I don't have qualms about switching after the first few weeks if I need to.

MiniTickle · 15/05/2015 20:13

Congratulations on the twins! Amazing news.
I'm keen to give breast feeding ago. Need to start reading about everything as still clueless. Looking forward to guiding each other with our findings.

Blimeygirl · 15/05/2015 20:18

So just got my letter through for my 12 week scan! I think my dh has realised it really is happening now! Only problem is that it's on a work day...would be fine but I'm a nanny ( for two doctors!) so question is do I tell the family a bit earlier I.e. 11+3 ish so they understand why I've got to go or do I wait til after the scan?

Lookingforadvice123 · 15/05/2015 20:23

It's lovely to have women who are at a similar stage in pregnancy to talk everything through with Smile I definitely need to get books on everything baby related as I won't have a clue, I have no experience with babies and am not even confident holding them! Waiting until after the 12 week scan though!

Lookingforadvice123 · 15/05/2015 20:24

blimeygirl I would tell them if you get on? When is your scan? Exciting!

ValancyJane · 15/05/2015 20:29

Aww thanks all for the reassurance - I have googled it and knew it was common, but nice to hear it's not just me with these stabby pains... I'm trying not to worry overly, but I'm a worrier by nature so doubt I'll get far with that!

Looking Yes I'm actually technically only 13dpo (seems like ages ago that I got that faint blur on Monday) as I got such an early BFP so I'm hoping it's implanting and suchlike.

Would That is super news, bet you're over the moon - congratulations!

crumble74 · 15/05/2015 22:21

wouldleave Congrats on the beating hearts, how exciting!

Re BF. I was all set to BF ds1 exclusively but it didn't work out the way I had planned it. I saw various lactation consultants/midwives/etc who all assured me to keep going but he was always so hungry & upset - I just couldn't satisfy him. In the end, after 2 desperate weeks, I tried him on formula and he was finally full & happier...so I was much happier too and could enjoy him!
It's great that people are not as uptight about it where you are gouda. I went through such anguish, ridiculous!

Joey0805 · 15/05/2015 22:30

Twins?! Wowee! That's awesome...

I will try BF at the very beginning but want to use a bottle and some formula from day 1 too. My maternity leave will be quite short and I want to make it as untraumatic as poss for all of us by having total flexibility from the start . Well, that's the theory! I know so little at this point though!!!

Bluebird89 · 15/05/2015 22:33

Hi all, hope you don't mind me joining, just got my BFP tonight eek! Thought I was a bit early to test and got rather used to BFNs so was so surprised when the cross appeared. Think I'll be due about 25th Jan!

AmyFlame1986 · 15/05/2015 22:35

Hi all, can I join?

I have just got my BFP and bump is due 22nd January. We conceived after our first time at trying so it was a bit of a surprise!

I have taken about 5 tests, it's mad. Looking forward to sharing the next 30 plus weeks with you all.

I've had cramping today, was worried first off but I have been reassured it's normal. Today is the first day my boobs have been sore, they aren't actually too bad yet (I have a feeling this will change). Sickness started yesterday, although it's very much evening sickness for me!

impatientlywaiting · 16/05/2015 00:30

Congrats on the BFPs Bluebird and Amy!

Would, massive congrats on the twins. What amazing news. Xx
