Please can i join? This is (hopefully) dc3 but my 4th pregnancy (previous ectopic). I'm potentially due 11th Jan but have an EPAU scan at the end of next week to check it is in the right place and will give a better clue as i have irregular cycles.

My first dc are only 18 months apart, so i was still bf dc1 through my dc2 pregnancy. I found it very sore and in the end my supply dwindled and she weaned which i felt v emotional about. I really don't think i could have tandem fed as it was so sore and i was so drained, but i met plenty of others who did so i think it depends on your individual situation. I wished i had managed to at times as it msy have helped with sibling rivalry etc but it just wasn't right for us.

OTheHugeManatee · 15/05/2015 08:22

I'm in awe of you veterans who are doing this with a toddler already there. I'm finding it knackering enough with #1, how the hell do you cope if you're toddler wrangling too? Confused (I mean clearly people do, but Shock)

Happily feeling a bit less zonked today. I think it's partly been the fact that it's light so early now, I've not been sleeping much after 5am. I broke out the sleep mask this morning when the dawn woke me and managed to sleep all the way to 6.40! Am now going to attempt to cycle the last stretch of my commute from Kings Cross to the City. I had a massive hormonal wail at Mr Manatee last night about being fat and hormental and too tired to do any exercise and oddly now feel much less of all those things Grin

EdgarAllenPoe · 15/05/2015 08:34

I'm swimming twice a week, which I have been doing for about the past year or so, but I'm not aiming for any new personal bests at the moment. Annoyingly, although swimming is really low impact, my boobs are so tender it hurts if I kick off the wall to quickly! I can't imagine going jogging right now unless I used some kind of industrial scaffolding on the ladies.

I guess I should give some kind of stats about myself:

Name: EdgarAllenPoe
Child: this is number one!
EDD: 10th Jan
No idea when any scans etc are happening, no-one will give me my midwife's number - I have to wait for them to call me during week 10.

littlebbunny · 15/05/2015 09:02

Booked my 2nd scan for the 25th May, I should be 7+5.
Pregnancy symptoms feel so much like jet lag symptoms. My stomach feels so unsettled and struggling to find something I want to eat. My sense of smell has gotten stronger which is now starting to make me feel sick. I lost a lot of weight in my last pregnancy in the first trimester around about this time. I never threw up, just couldnt eat much especially anything with garlic in it.
Not exercising atm, will start swimming once I feel better.

How's everyone else going?

OTheHugeManatee · 15/05/2015 09:14

YY to the super-strength sense of smell, littlebbunny. I have been fantasising about buying one of these folding shovels to keep in my handbag for when people eat smelly food on trains. Then I can whisk it out, unfold it and tw@ them round the head Grin

Really happy I'm feeling less knackered today. I cycled the 3 miles from the station to work and - o joy of joys - found someone has left a pile of dark chocolate and ginger Green & Black's miniatures in the kitchen with a sign saying 'Help Yourself'. Reader, I did Grin

Azquilith · 15/05/2015 09:22

Yes to super strength sense of smell. It was how I realised I was pregnant with DS1 and it's back with a vengeance. Poor DP is now checking before he starts eating things so he doesn't get grief...

OTheHugeManatee · 15/05/2015 09:34

The oddest things set me off, too. Everyone I know says they're off coffee but it's pretty much the only thing I can stomach (decaff, obvs) first thing at the moment. But when DH started eating French cured saucisson last night, which I normally love, I had to leave the room

Rollermum · 15/05/2015 09:59

Hi everyone, happy Friday! So pleased the weekend is here so I can nap and do some work (freelancing from home) whilst DH wrangles the toddler.

Congrats and welcome Valancy

Impatiently thanks for the recommendation. Cool that you tried FM. I played for 2 years before DD born, and have just done FM for the second time after a 2 year break (gah!) Hopefully we can both get back to it at a family friendly time.

Gouda haven't heard of Fitness Blender - will look it up, ta.

On breastfeeding I feel ok to carry on for now. DD is 19 months and still a boob monster. It is such a part of my parenting that I don't want to force it as long as I feel ok. Eating enough helps and though I feel sick it hasn't affected my intake - in fact I feel better if I eat more often. I agree on not making changes too near the birth though, so would like her in her own room way before then. It we get to a tandem nursing situation then that's fine, though my family will probably die of shock.

Rollermum · 15/05/2015 10:04

Also welcome and congrats MappeMonde - I missed your message. Interesting about BF through pregnancy. I am wondering if / when such issues might arise with me.

Does anyone know of any good websites / books on BF and pregnancy? I had a read of Kelly Mom which said lots of people find it uncomfortable and do wean, but not sure when this starts. I can't ask RL friends yet because not telling anyone!

brickiemum2 · 15/05/2015 10:15

There's no real danger at all from bf through pregnancy...I know it seems counterintuitive to be giving so much if yourself to two children but with a healthy diet and plenty of liquid intake it's absolutely fine. The risk of self weaning is highest at around 20 weeks as the internal structure of the breast changes and mature milk production slows down but if your toddler is willing to keep going (and like the taste of the richer colostrum as it comes through) then it won't take anything away from you or your pregnancy. We have lots of tandem nursers in my bf support group Grin

mappemonde · 15/05/2015 10:22

Thanks Roller. I think there is a book called 'adventures in tandem nursing' or similar that people say is really good. As I say, I know quite a few people who fed throughout so it's not a given that you can't.

I feel so queasy. I'm hungry a lot but have non idea what I want to eat and usually it's something we haven't got! I v sensitive to smells and an cope with DH spraying deodorant in the bathroom, or our kitchen bin or dishwasher I haven't actually been sick, which was the same in previous pregnancies.

I am so tired! Absolutely exhausted but can't sleep well. I'd grot ten how hard all this is!

I'm impressed of all the exercisers - I am dragging myself through everyday school runs and dog walks and certainly couldn't cope with anything additional. I have always enjoyed swimming in pregnancy so hopefully will start soon.

Rollermum · 15/05/2015 10:40

Thanks Brickie and Mappemonde really useful. 20 weeks is a way away yet, interesting to see what will happen.

Joey0805 · 15/05/2015 11:23

I suspect most of the exercisers are like me and don't have kids yet so are better able to have more sleep, no school runs, etc!

Weirdly my sense of smell hasn't changed at all - and I say weird because I normally have a really strong sense of smell anyway! Other than my boobs being sore I just feel like a have a permanent hangover: a bit sick, headachey, tired. Which feels pretty unfair given I haven't had a drop of booze for over 3 weeks now!

loveulotslikejellytots · 15/05/2015 11:32

My symptoms are the same as yours Joey0805.

My sense of smell has been affected though. DH's feet. Oh my god. The poor bloke usually sits with his feet next to me in the evening (L shaped sofa, we have a bit each which we lay on). I have to keep pushing his feet away, no matter how much he washes them or wears socks, they stink!!!

kep1979 · 15/05/2015 11:39

Hi all, and welcome to the newcomers.

I am very impressed with the exercisers too - I have been doing daily 1hr+ walks (most days) but have had to have a break the last couple of days as my pelvis and legs got really achy.

Over the last couple of days I have really gone off loads of things - vinegar was the first thing, and chicken the latest - half way through eating some the texture just made me feel sick. We may have to tell dh's parents soon, as we are staying with them whilst waiting for our house purchase to go through, and his mum is doing all of the cooking. I just can't face meat at the moment. However, I am craving boiled potatoes with salt and steamed vegetables, and eating loads of fruit. Yummy boiled potatoes i usually hate them

And my boobs were noticeably bigger and more tender this morning - yay

coffeenut · 15/05/2015 11:54

hats off to anyone who continues to bf through pregnancy. Cannot imagine having the energy to feed whilst feeling like I do atm!!

Rollermum · 15/05/2015 12:00

To be honest I think my body and brain has become totally used to being tired! So what would have floored me the first time is now just normal. I mean that in an encouraging way!

OR it hasn't hit me and I am an idiot and will regret saying that. I am only 4+5 (?)

Juniper44 · 15/05/2015 13:16

Hi everyone.

Got my bfp this morning at 6dpo! Only two weeks since my last af so I'm completely confused as to what's going on!

Due sometime in January but not sure when Confused

Juniper44 · 15/05/2015 13:24

Err... Hi Rollermum Blush

Rollermum · 15/05/2015 13:43

Juniper why the Blush ? Do I know you from elsewhere?

Rollermum · 15/05/2015 13:44

Oh and congratulations!

Juniper44 · 15/05/2015 14:06

From Sept 2013. But I haven't posted on that group yet.

Rollermum · 15/05/2015 14:25

Yay I thought so! Sorry not to recognise username, I came in right at the end (post babies). I know who you are though. So exciting!!

ValancyJane · 15/05/2015 16:38

Welcome Juniper :)

Anyone else stressing over cramps at the moment? I'm getting them on and off, first few days were really twingey, last few days have been more like nagging period pains, then had them like quite bad period pains this afternoon. Did a FRER I had left over just now and got a really strong line which made me feel better... I know it's just one of those symptoms, but it really worries me!

OTheHugeManatee · 15/05/2015 16:52

Me too a bit, Valency. Trying not to fret but it's hard sometimes :)
