HA. thank you jellytots, no wonder it wasn't working for me!

On this very subject, has anyone else had baby brain already?! I did a few stupid things in work before I even found out I was pregnant and have been doing the same since, typing the wrong words in emails and forgetting stuff straight away! Very unlike me normally too.

loveulotslikejellytots · 05/05/2015 20:34

I've found myself daydreaming a lot more, not sure if this is baby brain! I've got a lot clumsier recently, but them that could just be because I'm daydreaming!

goodnessgraciousgouda · 05/05/2015 20:59

looking - yes, I know what you mean about the baby brain moments. I keep finding things in bizarre places. Cans in the fridge, cheese in the cupboard, etc. I am hoping it's just a first trimester thing!

impatientlywaiting · 05/05/2015 21:07

There is a charity near me, bit of a strange one as they are a Christian charity and their main purpose is to provide scans and advice to people who are considering abortions - presumably in the hope that they won't go through with it, anyway in order to see enough people to keep their sonographers skills up to date they will give anyone who asks as many free scans as they like between 6-20 weeks pregnancy.

I went once with DS1, when I was 11 weeks as they had only just set up. I think that i'll go at about 7 weeks this time when I should hopefully see a heartbeat and maybe 10 weeks too, depending on how late my NHS scan is booked in for.

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 05/05/2015 21:18

Carrot and Coffee! I'm tentatively joining this thread. BFP's on 3 different tests today so I have an EDD of 11th Jan!

Not read though the majority of this thread yet but hi ladies!

CarrotVan · 05/05/2015 22:04

Yay! Welcome maybe and congratulations

CubanoHabana · 05/05/2015 22:57

Impatiently, that is exactly how I feel, I struggle not being in control! I finally seem to have my head around it and my mum is now putting doubt there, saying morning after pill can give false positives and delay af by 3 weeks...

coffeenut · 05/05/2015 23:02

maybe!!!! Huge congrats and welcome!!! Flowers Must go and read the may bus!!!

coffeenut · 06/05/2015 00:54

greysar glad you are feeling a bit better Flowers

gouda those crazy French - what are they doing to you? Smile can you get an early scan privately?

I have everything done privately here through insurance - still bloody expensive! I think I'll get a scan/heart rate monitor at the ob at 8 weeks. 5 weeks today so only 3 to wait ...

and speaking of clumsy, I just slipped over dropping DD2 at daycare. Cut my hand quite badly as I grabbed at a fence post to steady myself and stupid fence post was not only broken/jagged but rusty. ARGH.

loveulotslikejellytots · 06/05/2015 05:25

Hope it's ok coffee. Get it checked out.

I was pleased with myself, I managed to stay awake until nearly 11 last night. Thought I might actually sleep in until my alarm went off at 6am. Hmm No such luck. Been up nearly half an hour already. I'll be falling asleep at my desk today!

bearchomp · 06/05/2015 07:46

Welcome maybe congrats!

coffee how is your hand today?

I stayed awake until 11pm too but my afternoon nap may have helped Wink
No work today, catching up with a friend who has a DD same age as my DS so may get to have a brew in peace whilst they play (I live in hope!!)

goodnessgraciousgouda · 06/05/2015 07:55

coffee - argh!!! You poor thing!! Have you had a tetnus jab in the last few years? Probably no big deal though - just get some antiseptic on it!! Not sure about the early private scans. I don't think they are available without a referral (but have no clue). I've seen nothing online suggesting it's possible to get one!

Has anybody else looked at the EDD yet? I was really avoiding it at first, but I eventually decided to take a look. 6th January! Still a while to go before we are in the safe zone though.

coffeenut · 06/05/2015 08:20

thanks ladies - yes called gp and made sure I'd had tetnus booster! Then had a naughty latte to make me feel better Smile

gouda I looked at my EDD before I even had a bfp Blush. I'm also 6th jan ... I love this date - 6.1.16 (obvs very unlikely to actually give birth on edd however! Boo!)

CarrotVan · 06/05/2015 08:27

gouda the baby brain type stuff could be sleep deprivation if you have any insomnia

Mummyofonesofar · 06/05/2015 08:44

Cazzy has you postponed your wedding because of your pregnancy? When were you meant to be getting married? I can’t have an early NHS scan as I haven’t had any mc’s before but we aren’t going to pay for one, will just wait for our 12 week one.

carrot I wish I saved my digi for a 3+ result, I used to Sunday and got 2-3. Your poor toddler!!!

gouda I thought they dated pregnancy from the LMP in France but that 41 weeks is full term rather than 40. You should be able to google “private early scan clinic” and get a bunch pop up but maybe they haven’t got them over there? One around here costs £70-100 which I really cannot justify spending when I get a free one in 7 weeks (which will feel like an eternity)

impatiently Wow – I wish I had that service near me, I would be getting a scan a fortnight!

MaybeMrsMummy congratulations!!

coffee you poor thing!!

loveu & bear I fell asleep on the sofa at 9 and went up to bed at 10, woke up at 5.45 and still shattered!

Mummyofonesofar · 06/05/2015 08:45

Gouda I knew my EDD from each cycle before I got my BFP too, 03.01.15.

Mummyofonesofar · 06/05/2015 08:46

But in France it would have been 11 Jan

CarrotVan · 06/05/2015 09:55

He's a lot better today mummyofone but being at home with him, the plasterers, the joiner, and having some really awful news (terminal diagnosis for my teenaged nephew), and hormones...I am feeling rather overwhelmed and fragile

Poor you coffee - hope you're not too shaken

Mummyofonesofar · 06/05/2015 10:15

carrot What devastating news for the family! Thinking of you Flowers

AlohaMama · 06/05/2015 11:35

Hi all. Haven't read all the posts yet (quite a lot to catch up on) but thought I'd join the ride. Expecting DC#3 sometime early Jan, EDD somewhere between Jan2-12th (I had an implant removed and no period so dates are a bit fuzzy), but previous 2 arrived at 38 weeks, which puts this poor blighter somewhere over Christmas. Something I swore I would never do Blush.

Mummyofonesofar · 06/05/2015 11:48

aloha congratulations!! I said no Christmas baby too and am due 3rd Jan, but with my DS I have birth at 42 + 2 after I was induced so hopefully this one will be a bit late too - but wanting to avoid the induction again as it was awful!

Am I mad to be considering spending Christmas with family 5 hours drive from where we live? I am sort of thinking that with DC1 being late, this one will be too.

loveulotslikejellytots · 06/05/2015 11:58

Not mad mummy, if that's what you're comfortable with.

We were talking last night, DH has always wanted to get a Chinese Christmas Eve and have it (re-heated) Christmas Day for lunch. He said that we ought to do that this year. As much as I love Christmas dinner, i'll be the size of a beached whale by then and probably won't want to slave away for hours for a glorified roast dinner for 2! It could be good to do something easy!

Mummyofonesofar · 06/05/2015 12:04

loveu I have no idea if I am comfortable with it and I am sure I will change my mind 1000 times before the end of the year. It isn't the end of the world if I gave birth down South but the logistics of a long car ride with a new born and giving birth is hospital rather than a birthing unit would be less than ideal but hopefully it won't come to that! And it would mean Xmas dinner with my family and DS getting spoilt rather than spending it with MIL!

coffeenut · 06/05/2015 12:21

mummy I've been induced twice now. First was awful, second was a dream! Definitely do Christmas with your family.

I'm sorry you're feeling fragile carrot, you've had an awful lot happen at once. Does your gp know that DS has hfm & that you are preg? I don't want to scare you as it seems the risk is very low, but they say pregnant women should try to avoid getting it if possible.

loveulots I'd be too scared of salmonella to reheat our local chinese! Grin

congrats aloha ... I'm sure a christmas baby will be fine if that's what he/she is Smile. You might be 2 weeks late with this one!

goodnessgraciousgouda · 06/05/2015 12:26

Oh gosh, for Christmas I am going back to the UK. There are no ifs and buts about it!! Taking the train to avoid travel restrictions Grin

NYE is a bigger issue. I will wait until we're through the first trimester before raising it with DH, as I don't think he has twigged that I'm not going to be able to go to a house in the middle of nowhere, HOURS away from our city, to have a massive weekend long party with his mates FIVE DAYS before EDD. He mentioned a potential skiing excursion yesterday. How I laughed. Inside.

Mummy - I don't think you are mad. I think you should spend christmas wherever you are most comfortable. Sod's law will be that if you don't go, you will end up regretting it due to being really overdue!! If that 5hrs away with your family then why not - just remember to bring your hospital bag just in case.

Carrot - I'm so sorry to hear that you've had such bad news. I hope that you and your family can help each other to get through it.

Mummy - on the early scans I simply can't find anything online.
