Hi ladies!!
I'm not really here, I'm writing reports.... (Just watch me...)

Johnny's maths has come on no end this year! He now has a really secure understanding of number and place value........

My heart's not in it, can you tell..? Eek...

rolypolybird84 · 23/04/2015 20:45

pas I'm a primary teacher too and also thought I'd better start report writing early!

My intention was to do it in Easter holidays. Then it was sunny and I sat in the garden shopping for baby stuff online instead...

Anybody using bio oil? It was on groupon for 60% off so I've stocked up! I'm only 31 weeks and want to hear all the success stories of pregnancies with no stretch marks please!!!

X

comeagainforbigfudge · 24/04/2015 10:02

Hey roly I was using bio-oil but to be honest it made my skin itch (was fine before pregnant) in fact I'm struggling to use any lotions. Sun factor broke my skin out big style.

On the other hand, despite having stretch marks on back (from being overweight etc) I've not really noticed any yet. I'm 33 weeks though, so there is obviously still time!! I've also only put on a stone. (Well lost half a stone then put that back on)

I'm wondering once baby's out if I'll weigh less than my start weight...... dreamworld

Oh is anyone having serious round ligament type pain when turning in bed? Could have cried this morning, it was so sore!!

OP posts:
zahaziland · 24/04/2015 12:31

Hi roly, I've been using bio-oil for a few months now, even though I forget half the time to put it on.
I know that there is nothing that can really prevent stretch marks, you either get them or you don't, but I found bio-oil to be quite pleasant to apply and I always have a mini massage when I apply it.

Chookford · 24/04/2015 15:01

I am so lucky in that I didn't get any stretch marks with my dd and I don't have any this time either yet, although I still have 4wks to go so they could always appear right at the end! Shock

come I am having that pain rolling over in bed too, it's bloody painful isn't it!!

Thanks sun we are getting some sort of order now so I'm a little calmer, hope it all goes well for you too.... It is very hard going but just make sure you have lots of breaks and sit downs!

speed hope you have your completion date soon, that bit is so frustrating!!

Kyz · 24/04/2015 21:12

Evening ladies :)

hope you're all well?

waves at cuphat and chook I straddle both threads too as I thought originally I was due on the 5th June but I'm due on the 28th May, so i've tried and failed, largely to keep up with both :)

I am also in pain rolling over in bed, plus the PGP/SPD is pretty awful some days, but the past couple of nights i've managed to sleep through - bursting at the seams though when I wake up because I need a wee! But still, i'ts lovely to have a full sleep of 6 hours or so! Shame DS has decided morning is 6:30 but hey ho!

Chookford · 25/04/2015 07:16

Hiya kyz don't worry think most of us are struggling to keep up now we are getting so close to the end.. It's inevitable so many things going on!! Smile

cuphat · 25/04/2015 07:37

Waves back to Kyz Smile

I feel your pain with the rolling over in bed (also have PGP/SPD). And I can't stay in one position for long either. They need to invent some kind of device to help you roll over. How great that you've managed to sleep through for a couple of days at least. I've been struggling to get off to sleep for the past few days.

I can confirm pregnancies without stretchmarks are possible. I use a mix of sweet almond and apricot oils as recommended by a friend. And then a good moisturiser on top. You can get massive bottles for cheap, so I can afford to absolutely slather myself in the stuff. I have a good soak in the bath every day too - if i have to miss that out i get itchy skin, so that must help too. I'm not keen on the mineral oil in bio oil based on what I've read, it just sits on top and doesn't let anything penetrate beneath. I don't think it's 100% genetic either as my mum and sister got them and I know I'm prone to them (from my teenage years, I had some on my hips).

rolypolybird84 · 25/04/2015 10:39

Hurrah for the lucky ladies who have thus far avoided stretch marks!

Theyvallgone · 25/04/2015 16:38

I really feel for you ladies who are moving house so near to due date! Hope everything is going well and not too stressful. I remember our house move as one of the most stressful times ever, and I wasn't pregnant then (i.e. could drink wine to my hearts content ;) ).

Turning over in bed ... argh! yes I know what you all mean, I wake up every time I try to turn over, on occasion I have been known to get stuck trying to turn due to PGP/SPD :( combined with the cramps, frequent need to pee and the night sweats its a real joy huh?!

Since just after 12 weeks I've been using bio oil at night (well, my partner puts it on for me, its become something of a ritual :) ), and whatever moisturiser I have around in the morning, usually coca-butter based, something like that. I have literally gained one stretch mark and thats right over my belly button piercing (which I had to take out at 18 weeks due to massive outy belly button developing eek!). Was gutted about it initially, but if I escape with just that then I'll be lucky.

Well, DP is working a night shift tonight so in on my own, and not allowed to drink wine in the bath as I usually would at times like this ... I have some non-alcoholic beer instead to try haha! Will see how that goes. Anyone have any nice plans?

haha sun !!

Your weekend sounds just like mine, right down to the attempting to comfortably read a book, to the sitting online and complaining Grin. Unfortunately I picked a trashy novel thats nearly 900 pages long because it said on the back "addictive, don't pick up unless you have a lazy week to fill" and I thought, if anyone has a lazy week to fill its me newly on mat leave :) However I'm yet to become addicted, and its a bit of a pain to hold up in the bath! What are you reading?

p.s anyone else find their baby is particularly active after eating certain foods? I'm a bit of a garlic fan and I notice the baby wriggles around an awful lot if I've had strong garlic (frequently .. ). I know the flavour goes into the fluid so thought the baby might already like garlic ;)

AnythingNotEverything · 25/04/2015 20:52

Theyveallgone- I believe there's evidence that mum's diet while baby is in utero affects their tastes as they get older.

DD would swap me for some cheese and some baby plum tomatoes or some strawberries, all things I ate a lot of while pg... Interesting stuff.

Sunbathing, I've managed a long soak in the bath most nights since DD was born! DH looked after her when she was a young baby and her bedtime has been 7pm for a long time so plenty of time to relax in the evenings even if DH is away! I don't do the wine part but then I don't drink alcohol - a hot chocolate is more my thing!

Tori, do you use a waterproof case for your kindle in the bath? I've recently invested in one but find it a bit of a pain to take on and off every day (I spend ages sealing every strip properly - probably unnecessary!).

Phryn · 26/04/2015 06:25

Hi All,

Another facebook user here returning to the fold for the last stretch.

Kindle now have waterproof covers? I love the idea of one but I also love the physical book experience. Being able to still read in the bath would be a selling point for me but I think I'd still be paranoid!

34+1 here and just feeling huge. Only one week left in work and while I'm a bit stressed about quite how much I have to do in that week I'm so looking forward to being done!

cuphat · 26/04/2015 08:48

Not official ones Phryn, but I got one for around £5 on Amazon. They have good reviews. It looks like it'd work if you accidentally dropped it (it has three strip seals then folds over with buttons) but I haven't tested it properly Grin. I'd happily pay a bit more for one that's quicker to use though, and smaller (there's quite a bit of room around the edge).

zahaziland · 26/04/2015 09:18

Good morning All,

cuphat it's reassuring to know that long soaks in the bath will still be possible after baby arrives. I haven't really stopped to think how much my life will change, I'm probably a bit naive (or in denial), and I just imagine my normally life continuing only with a baby in addition.

I saw that there in now a January 2016 thread. I can't believe that a) I am still pregnant at 32+3 (after 2 MC, it didn't seem as if I would every get past the 1st trimester) and b) not only that, but we are also months ahead of other people! It's silly, but I always seemed to be the least pregnant person and now I'm not anymore!

Speaking of books, I just finished The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith (aka JK Rowling). A nice easy read with an intriguing plot (and not too challenging either in content or in style, which is just what I want at the moment).
For the book lovers out there, I would love to hear if you have any suggestions for novels.... I want to get a good few on my kindle for the next weeks...

Happy Sunday everyone

comeagainforbigfudge · 26/04/2015 09:42

Morning all
Had a busy day yesterday - well I just hosted, my folks came round, a wardrobe got built and washing put out whilst they were here, I washed all the equipment we've been given (bouncer/walker type things) and put the fabric bits in the wash.

And moved our collection of baby stuff from one room to another but it's now tidily put away in a wardrobe until phase 2 is finished (ie our bedroom is decorated) very complicated.

Then OH's parents came and mowed the lawn for us (they offered - why would I refuse!)

I went and collected my pram/pushchair modern equivalent thing yesterday (armadillo flip XT without the carrycot bit, don't know what to call it really)
It's still in its box until I've sorted one of our rooms out. Then I'm going to build it and practise folding/attaching car seat to my hearts content Wink

I've not really been buying books lately, but got some old books from my parents from when I was wee. Including a chalet girls one. Anyone read them? I started reading it again last night just because it was there! Ha ha ha

Anyway, hope you all have a good Sunday x

Thanks. I've never dropped anything in the bath but there's always a first time. I always loved proper books too, and I said I'd never get a kindle! But I got rid of hundreds of my fiction books a few month ago and feel great for it. The extra space has come in very handy for all the books that DD has!

Zaha, I have The Silkworm on my kindle waiting to be read so I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed it. Recent books that I've enjoyed are Trust In Me by Sophie McKenzie and The Girl On The Train.

I bet it feels good to have got that stuff done, comeagain.

AlcoholicsUnanimous · 26/04/2015 16:07

Hi, wondering if I can join? I'm almost 32 weeks, expecting my first baby on 25th June.

Interesting to see that some of you are also teachers, how are you coping? Do you teach primary or secondary? I teach year 2 and am finding it pretty hard going (although I am soooo thankful I'm not in Reception this year.) I can hardly fit on the tiny chairs, and the children, bless them, have no awareness of anyone but themselves and are constantly bumping into my huge belly! Still 5 more weeks until mat leave.
