Christmas and new years babies thread!

CuppaSarah · 19/04/2015 10:41

Just got my bfp positive today and am thinking we need a thread for all the babies that will be born around new years and Christmas. I'm due new years eve and just know I'll be sick of the comments real quick! So we can vent and plan low stress xmases together.

I know we have the December thread and will have the January one, but why the hell not there's room for everyone!

That's fair enough really. I'm looking forward to announcing it, but also a tinge sad that it won't be quiet news anymore.

Wow this was a marathon thread catch up! We've been non stop this week and so much seems to have happened!

Cuppa and NoArmani so sorry to hear that you've been having a stressful time Spotting and bleeding is so stressful, so I'm so glad everything seems to have sorted themselves out.

Tango and NoArmani amazing news! So glad you got to see your little peanuts! So exciting! Good Luck everyone who's got theirs coming up Flowers

hopeitcomeslate I did exactly the same thing and drank soooo much. The scan was obviously incredible but I was convinced I was going to wet myself! Haha! Also, it made me back kill. Definitely worth it though Grin

We announced our news this week. It's so nice to be able to share our news with everyone! Plus I don't know how much longer I could of hidden it with my growing tummy! Smile

CuppaSarah · 14/06/2015 15:22

Glad to hear you announced it Sherbert! It really is hard to hide! I finally told my friends, they all congratulated me, but then told me how relieved they were. Because they all had noticed my bump, but were too polite to say anything in case it was just weight gain Grin

Congrats to those telling people, always lovely to share such good news isn't it?
I told some people a little while ago - I told work at 8 weeks because I work with people that are likely to be violent and I didn't want to deal with anyone on my own and there is the possibility of dealing with bodily fluids (that may well be hep c or hiv) and again I didn't want to do that if I could help it.
I told my best friends on my hen do because I couldn't go on the rollarcoasters and told some other people as its come up in conversation and I didn't want to outright lie - also some friends of ours that are struggling with infertility and I wanted them to know before we saw them and it was 'in their face' so to speak

I feel awful today, really sick and headachey and crap, barely got of bed so poor DP is holding the fort today, even cancelled going to band practice, bless him.
How's everyone else holding up? Exciting now we're getting to the end of trimester one? We should have an end of trimester virtual party! Grin

CuppaSarah · 14/06/2015 16:01

I love the idea of a first trimester finishing party! You've been enjoying the lovely telling people for weeks lucky thing OhHolyFuck! I'm surprised you made it to weeks with work! Good on you, I worked in a similar position with my first and made the mistake of telling my boss asap. I got moved to a calm class and everyone knew.
Didn't learn my lesson and told my boss asap this time, although its not down to him everyone found out. One person went to a job I couldn't do. Customer told him I was pregnant. He told everyone Grin good thing I was dreading telling everyone at work.

I was thinking(lurking on the December board to be precise) should we get a private Facebook group? Depends on everyone's preferences of course. I'm sure some of us like the anominity here, or just hate Facebook.

Ah! It's so nice to tell people!

I told my Dad, MIL and my Dsibs over the phone on Fri (as I suspected, all my fam were totally onto me) and I told some good friends yesterday. I was at someone else's baby shower so felt a bit bad, but there were a couple of friends visiting from thousands of miles away that I won't otherwise see, so I tried to not make a big deal! Incredibly I know 8 (!!) friends with babies due in the last 4 months of this year, all first babies apart from me, 4 are VERY good friends from the same crew. I'm the last to announce (obviously) so it's barely even news for my friend group any more.

Will tell work (only my boss knows) and everyone else when I'm back from hols at end of next week. (Have my NHS scan Fri after next so I get to check in on the little blighter again).

I'm happy on FB (or happy to stay here); do you know how to set it up cuppa ? Definitely up for a party.

sherbertlemon17 · 14/06/2015 18:31

8 friends Tango!! That's going to be one expensive lead up to Christmas!!

I'm happy for a FB group. Will be nice to put a few faces to the names Smile

Now, tell me if I'm getting ahead of myself but I have a confession to make... I might have been looking at pushchairs and decided which one I want! Haha!

Tangoandcreditcards · 14/06/2015 18:41

I know sherbert and most of them know each other so I can't even get them all the same thing! It's not even like I have millions of friends or anything, just time of life I suppose. All my drinking buddies were up-duffed so I might as well be too! Grin

What are you looking at sherbert , I love pram shopping! DS will be under 2 so can't decide if I'll need a double or not...

OhHolyFuck · 14/06/2015 18:43

Not at all sherbet! A very kind friend has said we can have their bugaboo as they're very much done now so I've been looking at buggy boards that are compatible!
My theory is I can just pop ds2 on there and whizz around without buying a double buggy but it will be winter and I'll be doing school runs so need to think in terms of what's going to make life easiest - don't want to have to do negotiations with a stubborn toddler to get back on the board so we can go whilst newborn screams, ds1 is late for school and it's bloody freezing!

rainsong · 14/06/2015 18:51

Told Fam (from my side) at 7 weeks. My sister complains I never tell her anything so decided to do it early and avoid a huge blow up. Plus i was so excited I didn't know if I could keep it to myself.
Told 3 friends so far one of who called me and told me she had a dream I had a baby boy. I had to tell her after she said that. will probably tell the others over the next couple of weeks.
Will tell work by the end of the month.

Had my booking appointment Friday. Was hoping to hear heartbeat but midwife said not till 16 weeks. Will book scan tomorrow. I'll see the little bean soon.
Don't mind fb so long as it's private. not too keen on telling the world and his dog the news till the baby comes. Up for a part too.
Hope everyone has a good week.

Gillster · 14/06/2015 18:54

Hi everyone! Please could I join this group? I'm a little late to the party but wanted to hold off for a bit until I was a bit more confident of things working out.

I'm currently 10+5 and due on the 5th Jan. We had IVF in Feb 14 but had to freeze the embies due to polyps. Then spent the next 14 months cycling between hysteroscopies and FETs with the FETs being cancelled a few days before transfer - incredibly frustrating! Anyway we got the go ahead in April and had 2 embies transferred of which 1 has taken. Given my age (41), I have a harmony scan and bloods booked for this Thurs and my official 12 week scan is on the 24th. Hoping to be a bit less anxious once these scans and harmony results are out of the way. Looking forward to the finish of the first trimester!

sherbertlemon17 · 14/06/2015 19:07

Thanks tango and ohholy you've made me feel a bit better now!

I've just been looking online, so definitely need to go in to the shops to do a bit of testing, but at the moment the iCandy Strawberry 2 has caught my eye.

Anyone got any opinions on buggies?

sherbertlemon17 · 14/06/2015 19:09

Hi Gillster btw! Such lovely news after what must have been a stressful process!

CuppaSarah · 14/06/2015 19:19

I will set up a private Facebook page then. Not sure how but I can google it. I'll make sure its hidden and invite only to avoid accidently telling the world!

I have been looking at slings and wraps already and buggy board and changing bags. Can't wait to get buying! I si want a fancy patterned cossatto, but our graco evo is so good and in good nick, can't justify it.

Welcome Gilster, what a journey you've had to get to this point! Do glad you're able to join us here.

Facebook group is made. Its secret so no one can see it. Only way to be added is to friend me on Facebook and me to invite you. I had to add my husband as I couldn't create it without adding someone, as soon as someone joins he will be kicked out. So please pm me for my Facebook address so you can add me, then I'll add you into the group Grin what a cafuffle eh?

sherbertlemon17 · 14/06/2015 19:52

Good work cuppa! Ive PM'd you.

JoeyBun · 14/06/2015 20:25

I'd like to join the private Facebook page, but if it's ok I will wait until after the scan on Thursday. I'm looking forward to being able to tell everyone, apart from work, as I've only been back from maternity leave after dd1 for 7 weeks, so not sure how well the news will be received! Dd1 turns 1 this week so we are going to tell everyone who we haven't told yet at her birthday party.

For buggies I think I'm going to have to get a double, I was thinking of getting one that you attach a second seat to, so when dd1 doesn't need it anymore it converts back to a single. I've looked online at the oyster 2 and baby jogger, once I've had the scan I need to go and test drive them.

Good luck to everyone else who has their scans this week, looking forward to seeing pics and hearing everyone's news. And welcome Gillster.

CuppaSarah · 14/06/2015 20:33

No problem Joey, send me a pm once you're good and ready and I'll let you in! Those double, then single again buggies are so clever and keep their resale value really well. Not that I look at resale values when I look at buggies...

Telling people at your dds party will be amazing, how lovely will that be? Loads of women come back from mat leave pregnant, I'm sure they will be fine. If they aren't you can cross that bridge when it comes. We'll be here for moral support.

HopeItComesLate · 14/06/2015 21:54

You lot have been busy will have a proper catch up in the morning. Just done a 12 hour shift to celebrate week 12 of my pregnancy so told my colleagues, boss has know for ages and has been wonderful. I would love to join the Facebook group but it's essential it's not obvious as I have family in Newcastle who I want to tell face to face but won't see for another 5 weeks? HAs anyone had their tummy rubbed already? I'm not a fan of touchy feelyness especially my tummy I suppose I'm just gonna have to deal with it for a while. Also how's the morning sickness treating you all? X

CuppaSarah · 15/06/2015 06:37

Hope you must have been shattered after that! The Facebook group is secret, so the only way to be able to see it is to add me as a friend and then for me to invite you into the group. No one who isn't invited can see anything. So it's as private as can be.

OP posts:
Gillster · 15/06/2015 08:04

I will hold off joining the FB group until my scan too. So hard getting up this morning for work.

Queazy · 15/06/2015 08:56

What a great idea to have a FB page. I'm not on FB but will think about joining. I've had about 3hrs sleep and feel like a zombie. I so wanted to call in sick today... Hmm

HopeItComesLate · 15/06/2015 09:08

cuppa I don't know how to send personal messages

edinburghdancer · 15/06/2015 12:14

Hope - hows the hayfever? I had to go to Boots on Saturday and beg for something and they have a brand new product that is drug free and specifically for athletes and pregnant women. I almost cried when she said there was something I could take.

Turns out I have the cold and it didn't work but it looks great. It's called Prevalin! Good luck.

CuppaSarah · 15/06/2015 15:49

You have mail Hope!

No problem on holding off Gillister, we'll happily wait for you.
