Christmas and new years babies thread!

CuppaSarah · 19/04/2015 10:41

Just got my bfp positive today and am thinking we need a thread for all the babies that will be born around new years and Christmas. I'm due new years eve and just know I'll be sick of the comments real quick! So we can vent and plan low stress xmases together.

I know we have the December thread and will have the January one, but why the hell not there's room for everyone!

A little bit of spotting isn't cause for concern right? Just came home for lunch after a very strenuous morning on a building site and was spotting. Bit more than last time. This morning my boss decided I'm coming off tools tomorrow, which is a giant relief to be honest, especially after today. I'm a bit achey from lugging my tools round still. But I only have one job left this afternoon in a house so hopefully it will be OK. 4 can't come quick enough.

I thought he was giving you an office based role (hope I haven mixed that up). You have to be a bit more careful with lugging heavy stuff around.....like using a trolley based case. I must confess I don know much about tool boxes. Don't feel like you have to be superwoman.

The spotting could be a sign of stress. Or it could be normal. Someone on nct said they bled on and off throughout but had a healthy birth. Let us know how it goes.

CuppaSarah · 10/06/2015 17:25

Been given a new super light tool bag and do as many trips as possible so I'm not lifting weight. Was more than distance from parking to my plot today.

Unfortunately the office was only a threat occupational health made to.made adjustments to be made. I kick back endless jobs on health and safety and have done everything I possibly can to stop doing too much, so everyones annoyed at my lack of work. But I still am bleeding. I feel like its all my fault and my baby is going to die and it will be all because I didn't quit.work even though we couldn't survive without me working. Just want to curl up in bed and never get out.

Oh Cuppa so sorry to hear you're going through this. It could just be a symptom of doing too much today and does not automatically mean your baby is in danger. Please don't blame yourself - we all need to work, or most do, and not everyone is in an office role. Try to rest up tonight and look after yourself. Thinking of you xx

edinburghdancer · 10/06/2015 17:47

Hello. Mind if I join? I'm due 27th so right in between but think I'll be ELCS the week before.

Cuppa, I had 4 episodes of bleeding that completely freaked me out before I got a scan at 7 weeks (IVF pregnancy). I had phoned the Early Pregnancy Unit and got myself in a right tizz but it kept stopping. I mentioned at the scan and the doc was full of 'oh, we don't really worry about bleeding that much, it's so common'. Shock I would have wet myself if I didn't have her hand somewhere in the way at at the time!

I'm still getting occassional bleeds but they are further between and still really light, last an hour or so. I'm going to check again with the MW at my booking in this Friday but so long as they're not heavy and you're not getting serious abdominal pain, you shouldn't be too worried either.

And the 60's advice on not lifting - if you were fit enough to lift it before, you are probably still fine (I looked this one up as we were TTC while moving house!). Once tummy muscles start splitting when you get bigger, then you won't be able to lift but for the moment, other than making you really tired, it shouldn't be threatening the pregnancy.

CuppaSarah · 10/06/2015 17:55

Thank you queazy and thank you and welcome Edinburgh. Feeling really silly and tearful about it all really. I was just starting to relax and enjoy my pregnancy and then bam, reality hits you in the face.

Thank you for the practical advice, its really put me back at ease. I'm really glad you've gotten your bfp after ivf, but sorry about the stressful bleeds. Hopefully neither of us will have anymore to worry us again. I think the 27th is our busiest due date too, so you're in really good company.

HopeItComesLate · 10/06/2015 20:04

Sorry to hear about you day Cuppa hope your relaxing at home now feeling a bit better. My Dr gave me similar advice on exercise stating you may carry on as you did before so you mustn't blame yourself. I've read spotting is quite common but maybe if your still worried you could ring Dr or midwife?

Congratulations and welcome Edinburgh we are due date buddies along with many others on this thread I believe.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 10/06/2015 20:09

I'm still getting some bleeding too. Did you get an early scan Cuppa?

CuppaSarah · 10/06/2015 20:17

Yeah, I ended up with two scans. So I should be reassured, but I still freaked out. But with the amount of us experiencing it, its obviously really common. Not that it makes it better, I'm just cursing my anxious nature. Can't wait till next week on Friday when I have the 12 week scan and I will have made it.

An old college friend announcing she's expecting her second. She's three months pregnant with a 6 month old. She is a braver woman than me.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 11/06/2015 03:55

They told me at my early scan that if you see a heartbeat on an 8 week scan you have a 98% chance of a successful pregnancy. That really put my mind at rest.

Tangoandcreditcards · 11/06/2015 07:48

Oh goodness cuppa sorry you've been having such a stressful time, any spotting is so so worrying; even though you know it's 'common'. Can you rest up today and take it easy? Don't stress about people getting annoyed at work, the last thing you need is to take on other people's worries!

rainsong I already had my booking appt this time (at 9wks) but last time I had it at 12. I think for the bloods it's a window-of-opportunity thing. If I remember rightly they do blood type, iron/platelets and things, rubella immunity and a general health check. Then more bloods at the scan for the nuchal test if you're having it.

First scan for me tomorrow. Told a friend yesterday (I needed her to drink my wine for me). Can't wait to go public, no-one else knows (for certain) apart from my boss & DP. I'll only be 11 weeks tomorrow, but think I'll tell after the scan anyway as I'm off on hols with 20 members of DPs family next week and can't cope with any more deception!

edinburghdancer · 11/06/2015 10:24

Ooh Tango - 20 family on holiday? I thought we were bad going with 11 of my in-laws! How long for? I'm not sure I can cope with them all while sober Confused

CuppaSarah · 11/06/2015 13:40

Eek good luck tomorrow tango! A squiggly little baby, I can't wait to hear your mils reaction. She will be over the moon Grin

Thanks everyone for the kind words, I'm feeling way better. Team meeting this morning, now all afternoon on flexi booking appointments for my side.project, but all the phone numbers are wrong! But its a fun kind of annoying.

I don't think I could do a big family holiday without a murder taking place. Probably me as the victim.

rainsong · 11/06/2015 18:00

So glad to hear you're feeling better CUPPA and having fun..kind of.

Edinburgh lol at the '60's' advice. I guess it's just part of the paranoia....listen to everything, old wives tales included.

Tango. Thanks for the update. same thing just different timings.

HopeItComesLate · 12/06/2015 07:50

Is it ok to take antihistamines for hayfeaver? Was up all night sneezing? Been trying not to take anything if possible but I need sleep :-/
Glad yesterday went better cuppa
And enjoy today tango I took the full bladder thing a bit to seriously and was nearly wetting myself in the scan ha ha lesson learnt.

Tangoandcreditcards · 12/06/2015 15:22

One little (very wriggly) baby seen today. Measuring 11+3 so due date moved up to this year - 30th Dec to be precise.

So relieved. MIL is chuffed to bits, bless her, she needed some good news! We've also scrapped Laurence from our boy list and replaced it with late FIL's name.
Smile

Can go on holiday reassured now. Though, yes, some wine would help with the social awkwardness, we can be baby-bores instead to get us through (most of the
Aunts and uncles and cousins will be meeting DS for the first time too).

Rest easy all. Happy weekends. X

OhHolyFuck · 12/06/2015 18:17

Hello! Saw baby Olaf today! 12 weeks and 2 days although I'm still sticking with my Christmas Eve due date, did the nucheal fold test as well which looks good apparently so thats good to hear

Christmas and new years babies thread!
SweepTheHalls · 12/06/2015 19:27

What a lovely image Smile

CuppaSarah · 12/06/2015 19:56

Wow three scans today! Olaf looks so serene and placid that photo is beautiful.

Congratulations Tango I bet your mil is beyond over the moon.

Hope i hope you got a lovely clear picture as a reward for your full bladder!

HopeItComesLate · 12/06/2015 20:06

Queazy · 12/06/2015 20:44

So much lovely news Smile My scan is on Thursday, the day before we go on holiday, and so hoping it's all positive news. Very nervous.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 12/06/2015 21:03

Great scan pic oh holy. Any guesses on the sex?

I don't get my scan until I'm 13+1, seems like ages to wait.

OhHolyFuck · 12/06/2015 21:06

He wasn't being placid before that! Being a chimp and refusing to get into position for them to measure the back of his neck!
Had to get a few fair old pokes from the sonographer before he'd move round Grin

Yes, I still think boy Armani! Although I can't tell the differences in those supposed skull shape/nub guides so it's totally going on gut feeling

Good luck to those who have theirs coming up and congratulations to those who had theirs today too...

CuppaSarah · 13/06/2015 08:24

Aww glad the scan went well though OhHolyFuck, even if Olaf was cheeky. I thought boy too when I looked at the scan picture.

Queazy mine is on Friday so we're nearly scan buddies. Hope what day is your scan?

NoArmarni that must feel ages away. Its so difficult to hold in the news till 12 weeks let alone 13. I'm seeing some friends who are in town this weekend and not sure if I should wear something bump hiding or just tell them. I won't get a chance to tell one of them face to face again, as she'll be back in Africa for her PhD soon. My other friend is a bit of a jellyfish and I don't want her to say something complisulty, as I won't realize till I get home and I'll quietly rage.

OP posts:
NoArmaniNoPunani · 13/06/2015 09:17

I haven't held the news in, everyone knew by 9 weeks when I had the emergency scan!
