Christmas and new years babies thread!

CuppaSarah · 19/04/2015 10:41

Just got my bfp positive today and am thinking we need a thread for all the babies that will be born around new years and Christmas. I'm due new years eve and just know I'll be sick of the comments real quick! So we can vent and plan low stress xmases together.

I know we have the December thread and will have the January one, but why the hell not there's room for everyone!

If you find any good hypnobirthing CDs or YouTube videos let me know NoArmarni! I'm going to start around 16 weeks learning it, no idea I'd that's too early not not.

Rainsong I wouldn't have wanted a home birth with my first either. But now I've done it before, the idea sounds lovely. But for the first time I wanted all the drugs on hand if I needed them Grin in the end my labour was too fast so I didn't get anything but gas and air! So I have been advised to have a home birth to avoid a carpark baby.

Thanks for not kicking me out! Smile although, where did you ladies say you live?? I think I'm going to need to lock the doors around my due date! Haha! Out of interest where roughly is everyone based? I'm down in Kent.

Oops! Sorry Tango and Ohholy, baby brain setting in already?!

Welcome rainsong, always nice to see a new face Smile

OhHolyFuck · 04/06/2015 19:07

No, I don't get the due dates either - I'm 11 weeks today with an edd of Christmas Eve?

I had a home birth with ds2, was really lovely. Ds1 had a nap, ds2 was born and then he woke up and came in to see him. Midwives tidied up while DP cuddled the baby and I had a shower, then midwives went home, we ordered pizza and watched The Voice! Very relaxed, hoping for one this time too

I didn't do hypnobirthing but did find myself visualising whilst I was in labour, I saw the pain of the contractions as a red mist floating towards me and I had to blow it away, thereby breathing nicely throughout although it wasn't a conscious thing or something I'd researched/planned on doing probably the pethidine in hindsight!

Hello new member, sorry on my phone so can't scroll up for your name!

Tangoandcreditcards · 04/06/2015 19:33

Hi and welcome rainsong

I (the internet) made my DD 2nd Jan. But the midwife made it the 3rd. She must have a different internet to me.

I think water birth and epidural are mutually exclusive, I'm afraid rainsong. I think the trick is (in my experience) not to over-plan, I was dead set on water and in the end there wasn't time to run it! That said, your second sounds like exactly what I want ohholy (except with mince pies instead of pizza Grin ).

FILs funeral today, was actually ok, friendly and not too sad. But obviously DP was busy with his family and DS was fully charged so I've been running round a massive function room after him for hours, I'm a broken woman, every joint aches!

CuppaSarah · 04/06/2015 19:33

I'm in north Hampshire. I do sometimes go to the west of Kent with work, so if you see a manic looking pregnant women driving at you in a British gas van around your due date be worried Wink

How did I miss two messages when I posted? Tango I'm glad it was OK, but looking after a toddler one your own while pregnant must have been utterly exhausting.

OhHolyFuck I want your second birth experience this time too!! Except instead of your pizza and tangos mince pies I want Christmas dinner left over and chow mein! I had a lovely thought too, us homebirthers will be giving birth by the twinkley lights of the Christmas tree!!! How lovely is that?!

Tangoandcreditcards · 04/06/2015 22:39

Aw. cuppa you're making me feel all Christmassy! I definitely have NOT been running through Chistmas themed names for weeks

Im in Surrey. My DDad lives in N Kent though. Home Counties fist-bump sherbert

OhHolyFuck · 04/06/2015 23:35

Auwww, mince pies and twinkly lights and tiny snugly babies...

I'm Lancashire way, in a (2) university city - a meet up would be a logistical nightmare!

I'd like a nod to Christmas/winter in the name too, although tbf I'd like us to agree on any name first!
We asked ds1 (4) for his suggestions, not sure we'll be going with them any time soon!

CuppaSarah · 05/06/2015 06:21

Let's hear some of his suggestions OhHolyFuck! Two uni's must be chaos in term time.

Yay Tango I work in Surrey loads too! Not that it means much, but you never know. Our paths could cross and we would never even know.

I haven't thought about Christmas names, but it would be very cute. I think we're already set on Thomas for a boy though. A girl it's between Rebecca, Georgina and Maya. I don't love any of the girls name sthoigh, they're the only ones me and dh agree on.

cuppa it is! They cancel things (like buses!) because there 'isn't the demand' forgetting non-students live here too!

He's angling for 'Olaf'...for a boy or a girl

Lovemylittlebear · 05/06/2015 16:02

Hi everyone, due New Years Eve if everything goes ok :) this would be my second baby x

CuppaSarah · 05/06/2015 16:04

Grin baby Olaf! That is fantastic. I do hope you will be using it. All babies love warm cuddles after all.

CuppaSarah · 05/06/2015 16:04

Ooh another new face hello Love my! We're due date twins. Hows your pregnancy going so far?

OP posts:
OhHolyFuck · 05/06/2015 16:06

Hello bear!

Tbf cuppa, it'd cover the 'Christmas' thing and the 'not being one of ten in his class' thing too, both things we were looking for in a name! Maybe we shouldn't dismiss it out of hand....Wink

CuppaSarah · 05/06/2015 17:32

Baby Olaf is perfect see? So glad your ds has it covered Wink coincidentally dd named the baby today. Its called Mia which is a real name to be fair, but unless it's a pink haired fairy like Mia off Netflix she will be pissed!

OP posts:
sherbertlemon17 · 05/06/2015 18:32

Tango fist bump Boom!

Cuppa that really made me laugh! Think how happy she'd be if the baby did have pink hair!!

Christmas related names had even crossed my mind. Why haven't I thought about this?? I do imagine every girl born in December being called Holly though....

Hi bear Smile

Tangoandcreditcards · 06/06/2015 08:48

Oh. I really want Olaf! Luckily DP isn't having it. Nor was he having Holly. We probably should wait for a scan to get really stuck in to names!

I'm huge now. I don't think I'm fooling anyone. Only 10 weeks and my bump is "proper". Anyone looking for it will know. Oh well. Early scan next Fri.

Tangoandcreditcards · 06/06/2015 08:49

Sent too soon!

Hiya bear

Queazy · 06/06/2015 16:20

I hadn't thought about Xmas names yet either! Ironically I really like the names Autumn and April, so think I need to get back to the drawing board.

I've put on embarrassing amount of weight and my tummy is rounded already (probably just the chocolate, as I'm only 10 weeks!!). This is my second pregnancy but still didn't expect to look 4 months pregnant already! Is anyone else showing or got a clear round to their tummy yet? I'm worried work will guess before my scan in a couple of weeks.

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend. My morning sickness is back and feel sooo shattered Hmm

CuppaSarah · 06/06/2015 17:17

I have the same issue queazy. Attempted to get a maternity swimsuit for a trip to the sea tomorrow, couldn't find anything. I did dig up an old bravissimo swimsuit I bought a year ago, but my body was too short to fill out. Now I have a belly it kind of fits. Enough to go out in public I'd say! My old swimsuit just did not get over the bump.

I think the staff in the chippy were debating if I was pregnant or not. Lots of staring at my stomach and talking in Chinese. Normally they speak English, so may have just been calling me fat or something else horrible Grin

Sorry your sickness is back, we're as far along as each other right? Cos mine has been bad today, all I want is plain rice.

OP posts:
Tangoandcreditcards · 06/06/2015 18:57

Massive tum here queazy. Easily as big as I was at 20 weeks last time (and I wasnt a late show-er then!). My boss already knows, everyone else is politely ignoring it. I'm sure everyone knows, people seem to ask me how I am A LOT.

No sickness at the mo. But plain food all the way here. An endless round of pasta and peas. Bread and butter. Egg fried rice. Everything else doesn't appeal. Healthy.

OhHolyFuck · 06/06/2015 22:30

Was fat anyway but definitely have a 'bloat' going on now, weight actually hasn't changed though just distributed itself to my tummy and boobs a bit more!
Am also on a stodgy/carb diet, had crumpets for breakfast and cereal for dinner today! Am off dairy especially cheese which so isn't like me...
Haven't been sick in a day or so though, result!

Counting down til my scan on Friday - got another one the Monday after too as my gp surgery has bought a scanning machine and staff want experience using it so they're offering optional additional scans there too, will see Olaf twice in 4 days!

sherbertlemon17 · 06/06/2015 23:26

OhHoly please call your child Olaf! That would be amazing! I bet your excited for your scans.

Queazy although lovely, Autumn and April might get a few raised eyebrows around Christmas time. I've always quite liked Summer... Think that might be worse.

The past couple of days I'm starting to get a proper bump. So weird but I love it! It's definitely less bloat now, and when I'm in normal clothes, as oppose to work clothes you can see it. I hope people don't just think I look fat! Lol!

HopeItComesLate · 06/06/2015 23:29

Hi everyone joining a bit late. I'm due 27/12 and will be my first. Had scan the other day at 10 and 5 but they said it was too early so I get another Smile
Hoping baby holds on till newyears as my partner will be working in the middle on the sea on my due date.
Will be nice to have you all to talk to as I have no idea what to expect haha x

CuppaSarah · 07/06/2015 07:13

We are team carbs at moment aren't we? Grin glad everyones getting bumpy. My dh insists I'm past the 'is she fat or pregnant?' Stage but I'm not convinced, despite comparing pixa of meast time at 20 weeks and being bigger. I felt huge then, but now I look back and think what a lovy neat bump.

Welcome HopeItComesLate! Lovely to have a new member joining us. Stress is the key to not going into labour, so chances are being stressed your partner won't make it, will stop you going into labour till he's back! First babies are usually late too, so the odds are in your favour. How are you feeling? Enjoying pregnancy so far?
