Christmas and new years babies thread!

CuppaSarah · 19/04/2015 10:41

Just got my bfp positive today and am thinking we need a thread for all the babies that will be born around new years and Christmas. I'm due new years eve and just know I'll be sick of the comments real quick! So we can vent and plan low stress xmases together.

I know we have the December thread and will have the January one, but why the hell not there's room for everyone!

I know that one about the booze. I did FIVE weddings in the first trimesters of my previous pregnancies. I found a glass of wine a leetle over a third full (too full to top up, not full enough that people notice it's always full) very diverting. Water in a beer bottle too. Only got rumbled once, and that was because I didn't eat the pâté!

When I was 11 weeks with DS my Dsis came over and drank nearly 2 bottles of wine and didn't notice I hadn't had a drop(!) I felt a bit bad because she didn't understand how she was so hungover - she didn't realise she'd drunk my share! So there's a precedent for getting them too drunk to notice. Grin

It's not exactly the end of the world if they do twig, and I'm pretty sure it's too obvious. I'm just a nervous Nellie.

Maybe I should have booked an even earlier scan myself, I'm so chuffed to hear of all these little heartbeats.

CuppaSarah · 21/05/2015 19:49

Five?! You are the booze hiding pro Tango! If only it were a sport Grin when our oils came down a few weeks ago they brought us a load of cider in mine and dhs favriote flavours. Their faces when I said I was sorry I couldn't enjoy it were priceless.

Though not as priceless as when I told them the first time. We lived with them and fil had quit his job the day before! They were very shocked, as were we!

Just got back from our private early scan. I'm having a baby!! Grin we heard the heart beat and I'm measuring two days ahead of where I thought! In was so scared I cried like a baby when they said all was OK.

Yay cuppa !!

sherbertlemon17 · 22/05/2015 10:44

Amazing news cuppa! Glad everything went ok!

Reading that reminded me of the Only Fool and Horses episode when Rodney asks what they've had and Del announces "it's a baby!" Makes me chuckle every time Smile

CuppaSarah · 22/05/2015 13:33

That comparison made me giggle sherbet. I keep crying though thinking about the fact a healthy little baby is wibbling round my stomach.

I also had such a strong craving for a roast dinner the second dd went for a nap I ran off and had one on my own. Sitting in the restaurant, blatently pregnant(wore a tight top) all alone. I got so many sad looks, but it was soooo good.

Woo Hez and Cuppa! Looks like all going well Grin

Anyone know much about skull shape or nub theory? Was reading a thread were they were trying to guess gender from a 12week scan, made me wonder how reliable it is and how you do it?

Bought a sweet little duck babygrow and hat too for its first outfit, early days I know but I'm feeling so sick/tired all the damn tired (poor DP and DSs) that I needed something nice to do!

NoArmaniNoPunani · 22/05/2015 21:06

Nub theory is where the 'nub' angle indicates sex, so if it's more than 30degree angle it's a boy and less is a girl. I have no idea how successful it is as a prediction. I'm too impatient to wait until 20 weeks, I'm going for a private scan at 16 weeks.

CuppaSarah · 23/05/2015 06:10

I've heard of nub theory, no idea how good it is. I'm thinking I have another girl On the go here. Based on my very scientific gut feeling.

OhHolyFuck that sounds so cute, I'm holding back on buying but it is tough. Mother care has a range called little bird and it's so pretty I'm very tempted.

NoArmarni I'm doing the same. The place I went on Thursday puts coloured booties in a box so you open them at home. I thought it was lovely, nothing in pregnancy is really just you and your other half. It's lovely they give you that moment.

Tangoandcreditcards · 23/05/2015 06:39

Ooh. I don't think I'll find out at the scan, I'll hold out til birth. I didn't find out with DS and loved the suspense! (I also love crime novels and not looking at the picture when I do jigsaws) Grin

Pretty sure it's a girl though, all my symptoms are different this time. (I like guessing but not finding out).

Right. Picking out a diverting outfit to fool the family. Wish me luck.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 23/05/2015 06:43

My maternity clothes arrived yesterday. The tops look better on me than my usual tops already. I'm only 8+4. Surely that's far too early to be in maternity wear?

sherbertlemon17 · 23/05/2015 09:07

I'm so glad you've said that Tango! We don't want to find out either, and people are always surprised when I tell them. I just love surprises! Lol!

I have a gut feeling it's a boy though... Along with every other single person we've told! What are everyone else's gut feelings telling them?

OhHolyFuck · 23/05/2015 09:26

I think its another boy too, after 2 DSs already, I can't imagine having a girl!

CuppaSarah · 23/05/2015 11:42

Ooh I love that we have some surprises on here! I can't wait for anything, so it will be nice come December to have a couple surprises. I once read that a mother's gut instinct is the only reliable guessing method for gender with a 70% right guess. I read it in a book so you know its real.

Good luck hiding it today Tango! NoArmarni I've been in maternity wear a few weeks, its so comfortable. Although my bloat bump went down a bit today which means my tight jumper dress is looking a bit depresses round the belly.

My sil who is having a baby next week asked if we're planning any more soon. Thank god it was over Facebook and I could lie. Having a tough time deciding what to do about telling her. We were due two months apart last time and she was so competitive, my grass was always greener than hers. It put a downer on mine and probably her pregnancy. She's had health issues and decided she won't have anymore, but is really upset about it. Do I tell her sooner so she can get her head around it, but potentially have her putting me down all pregnancy. Or wait till as late as possible and have some peace, but potentially hurt her?

OP posts:
Tangoandcreditcards · 25/05/2015 16:47

cuppa I think I'd get the telling out of the way. It'll be different this time around and she'll probably be too busy with a new born to give you too much grief?

Really enjoying a lazy bank hol. Feeling quite rubbish, but mainly because I can get away with lazing on the sofa eating biscuits.

I think I got away with it on Sat. People arrived at midday and left after Eurovision (midnight!). I was shattered. My DSis said "I was going to ask if youre preggers but then you got stuck into the beer" (water in a San Miguel bottle Grin ). One of my cousins may have clocked me, but she won't say anything.

I really need some new clothes, I really resent spending the money though! Even though DS is only 15mo, I'm way bigger than I was in my last pregnancy so I'm not sure anything is going to fit. I have one top that remotely hides my ever expanding bump. And my pants are too small already, this happened last time, my backside got enormous overnight. I think it's because I don't have boobs so all my boob-weight rushes to my arse.

CuppaSarah · 25/05/2015 17:14

Yay congrats tango! You really are the pregnancy hiding pro! For me its all about maternity bundles off eBay. Cheap enough if they fit bad you can resell without worrying about a loss!

I suppose you're right about telling her. I'll wait till the dust settles from having her baby. I know she'll be upset about it, but what can you do? Have dn here and pils for the next few days. In our two bedroom house this is a squeeze! But dd and dn are having a ball.

OP posts:
OhHolyFuck · 26/05/2015 15:18

Can I ask a question - how tired are you all?
I know obviously pregnancy tiredness is a thing but I feel like I'm a zombie at the minute!
I sleep til 9am, have a 2 hour afternoon nap and I'm still tired by early evening, and in between times am only just getting through...is this how everyone else is?

Tangoandcreditcards · 26/05/2015 15:58

I wish I could sleep until 9am!

I'm up at 6am for work (or for DS at the weekends) but I'm exhausted in the evenings, so I'm mostly in bed by 9, if not before. DP has to pick me up from the station because I'm too knackered to walk the mile home after work... I did it once last week and it takes me about 40mins because I'm so slow! This weekend I had 4 days off, so I had naps most days (only half-hour or so) but they were well needed. I also find myself muddling my words up after lunchtime, saying things in the wrong order or using the wrong word, a sure sign I'm overtired!

I had a tiny (really tiny) bit of spotting today, I'm trying not to freak out because that's exactly what I had when I mc in 2012 (small amount of spotting @ 9wks), it wasn't actually discovered til the 12 week scan though. I had a little cry in the loo today. Logically I know it's probably nothing, but the fear has really clicked in; especially after all the rigmarole at the weekend I'd allowed myself to start making plans for next year.

CuppaSarah · 26/05/2015 16:27

Tango, do you have a local epu? If you had a mc before I'm sure they'll make the effort to see you. Would.this be around when your second period would have been? Could be due to that maybe. Try and take it easy the next few days.

OhHolyFuck, you sound very knackered. I'm very tired, but not that bad. Is tiredness a sign of anaemia? Then again first trimester is just horrible, hope you'll perk up around week 12. I'm going to bed about 8 and getting up at 6. Trying not to nap, bit dd still naps two hours so its hard not to sometimes.

Sil has been taken down to delivery suite in the last hour for her waters to be broken. Praying she has baby today and put tomorrow. I cannot cope with another day with dn and pils here. My stress levels straight up and that stops me eating. Buy I get newborn snuggles so very worth it.

OP posts:
SweepTheHalls · 26/05/2015 16:58

I'm just coming out the other side of the exhaustion Smile, and the boys sting has given all gone down and my trousers are comfortable again. We are starting to expand the circle of people that know from parents to siblings and close friends now that it has lasted 8 and a half weeks which is nice.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 26/05/2015 18:34

Oh holy: I'm very tired too. I'm already in bed. I can manage a day at work but that's it.

Tangoandcreditcards · 26/05/2015 19:29

cuppa there is, but I'm seeing the GP first thing on Thu morning anyway so might see how it goes in the next couple of days, if it gets any worse and see what they say if they want to refer me. I'm calming down a bit now.

Hope it all goes well with SIL today and you can offload your guests after a nice snuggle. We've got MIL to stay at the mo, still trying to keep it quiet til we're 100% sure. Not sure how I'll justify going to bed in the daylight!

CuppaSarah · 26/05/2015 19:56

Tango, I just found myself spotting after going to the loo. Trying hard to put on a brave face now. My pils know, but don't want to be a downer when their daughter is having a baby. I think it's just caused by lifting a very heavy nephew and constipation. I'm not doing anymore lifting for a few days I think. Thursday is nice and soon but I hope you've stopped by then.

OP posts:
Tangoandcreditcards · 26/05/2015 22:12

You too cuppa - rest easy, try not to worry. Flowers

NoArmaniNoPunani · 27/05/2015 07:17

I've got my first midwife appointment today. I know it's only form filling but I'm excited.
