Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 26th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 42nd outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal clubs here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

Here is the stats list, please update your own spot with any updates: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oLJqpadAb2givKYq8OJfGCti3s6xzsTGlI-GoaBfM_M/edit?pli=1#gid=0

GX for your DH la

DulcetMoans · 27/04/2015 09:25

Oh fleur, mine made me wait on Friday too! The drink is a bit grim - surprisingly bitter for something full of sugar!

It not wee, promise. It just kind of gushes, but only a little gush. It doesn't smell of anything. Maybe I will ask her.

Good luck to Mr La! When will you know? Late tonight I guess.

Have you two booked in for Whooping Cough? I haven't done it yet and she reminded me last week.

Pisghetti · 27/04/2015 10:20

Definitely get that checked Dulcet

Good luck MrLa!

It's worth waiting until sale season to see what offers are around on car seats and use price comparison websites too. I paid £67 for the cabriofix - Argos had it on sale (only in store except it was out of stock in every local store - impossible to find out where it was in stock) and kiddicare agreed to price match it.

Fleur I feel your pain. I get horrendously grumpy when I'm hungry. Hope it goes ok.

mountaingirl01 · 27/04/2015 10:25

Good luck with all the appointments today!

fleur mind if I ask why they are doing gtt?

All this car seat talk is blowing my mind. I am buying a Britax from a friend which fits the travel system she is selling me. No idea what happens from there!

Purpleball · 27/04/2015 10:38

Dulcet I think you should check that out. It happened to Boo and it was her waters. Just to be on the safe side.

Good luck Mr La Smile

I heard a thing about infant car seats that's it's important you check where the handle should go as in the upright position on some seats, it's like a roll cage and it's there for protection. On others it goes behind. Worth checking your instructions viroids to make sure it's in the right place.

Fleurchamp · 27/04/2015 10:40

My mum is diabetic mountain

All done now. Problem is I stopped at M & S food on the way back to get some lunch. Never shop when hungry!

dulcet I would get checked just in case.

I have a mw appointment tomorrow (it's all go!) and was told last time to book my wc vax when I am there (I see my mw at my dr's surgery).

I also need to request a fit to fly letter for mid May, they charge £25 for it. Eeek!

LaLaLaaaa · 27/04/2015 11:26

Yes purple that is a very important point! The amount of my friends I've seen put car seat in car with handle pushed back. Handle must be in carrying position as it provides the side roll protection for if car seat comes out of car during crash. Also you must have hood up as that stops glass from flying onto baby.

Dulcet I'm also thinking of Lauren whose waters leaked out early, I would def phone mw.

Anti D injection ached like buggery!!! Baby La is measuring bang on. I'm slightly anaemic but not enough for iron tabs so need to get a special drink thing. She also told me 38 weeks is too late to finish work, I need to bring it forward to 36 weeks. So il have to speak to manager today.

Competition is 2 days so won't find out til tomorrow!

RhiannonElward · 27/04/2015 11:48

Ooh, busy day for the viroids by the sounds of things, good luck all with tests and competitions, fx for good news/results from everyone. I love hearing from all those further along when pregnancy feels like it takes forever, at least I have evidence that weeks do progress for us all, even if it is painfully slowly. I am desperate for there to be a baby born from here, it's far too exciting.

As for car seats, I feel bad to even mention it because it's so bog standard, but I think I'm getting a Britax First Class Plus, it's had good reviews and though it's not top of the range, money is tight and I haven't got to remortgage to get one, they're half price and down to 80 quid on Amazon if you like black or red. I have researched myself stupid and that's the best I've found for the money we can afford. For the last two kids, we just used the one that came with our travel system and then cheap follow on ones assuming that if they pass the tests then they are safe enough, but that was daft of me.

I had my hair cut this morning and am getting it coloured this week too because I'm so grey I look a witch, although admittedly witches are not usually pregnant. Is there anything I need to worry about in colouring my hair when upduffed? I'm just going to get a couple of DIY ones and hopefully not cover my face and hands in it. It probably won't go well but I'll post some pics on the fb group if it's a complete disaster :)

couldntbebothered · 27/04/2015 12:31

We have a britax first class plus, v good value as now being used for the new baby and lasts from birth until they are big enough for next stage seat.

Purpleball · 27/04/2015 12:40

I'm still doing DIY hair colour Rhiannon or rather getting mum to do it for me.

Bloody car insurance has gone up after the crash last year. I didn't try to tell them I'm only high risk if I have another miscarriage Hmm

Currently waiting for tyres to be fitted. Not quite sure what the point was in making an appointment Hmm

I've got anti D booked for June but not whooping cough.

minimooo · 27/04/2015 12:50

I was completely confused by car seats, so we just went with the Silver Cross Simplicity car seat (to match travel system). Haven't bothered with the Isofix base as we couldn't justify the price. I figure that if the seatbelt fastening really is too much of a faff, we'll just change our minds and go grab an Isofix base from Mothercare in a few weeks. I have no idea what happens after she grows out of the Simplicity car seat though - must do some research!

How are you doing could? Hope you're managing to get some sleep?

Dulcet def go get it checked out just in case.

la sorry about crap night and nosebleed. Hope you can solve the pillow situation! I seem to be needing a wee about every 2 hours at night now (and sometimes really urgently Blush) so pillows in the way would do my nut.

Still nothing here. Went for a long walk yesterday and lots of bouncing on ball. My hypnobirthing lady recommended an acupuncture session, so I'm going to try and book it for tomorrow afternoon/evening.

How are you doing splodge?

Ewuakua · 27/04/2015 13:43

Oh dear, all this talk of car seats is very intimidating! splodge thanks for making me giggle with your false alarm fart!

Can I ask a silly newbie question? Ive got my first GP appointment tomorrow - any advice on what to expect? Should I be asking for things they don't always give away up front?

Has anyone had a test for toxoplasmosis? I think im a high risk with cats, gardening and home grown veg! Would be nice to know if im immune.

batfish · 27/04/2015 14:47

ewuakua I had toxoplasmosis test, I didn't ask for it they just did it - but I don't live in the UK so not sure if it is something they do there. Turns out I have no immunity which I was surprised about as I grew up with cats. I don't have any now though.

We bought car seat a couple of weeks ago to get cheaper when we were in the UK - went for maxi cosi pebble plus with family fix base. At least I think we went for family fix, got soooo confused with the difference between the bases, I think we went for the one that keeps them rear facing for longer because she said it was safer even though I was wondering whether they would be happy rear facing for that long.

splodge77 · 27/04/2015 15:06

Hi mini. It's me due date today and nothin doin. My original due date before scan was 3rd may so I reckon he may come closer to that date. Car seat talk sounds complicated. I know they recommend rear facing for as long as poss but DS was so much happier when we got him into a front facing seat - made journeys a lot less fraught.

WilHarlot · 27/04/2015 15:43

Come on baby splodge! I don't want to have to tidy these pom poms away.

Dulcet I leaked fluid during my first pg. The midwife ignored me when I kept telling her until a scan showed I hardly had any left Hmm . A different mw this time told me if it happened I needed to go to triage and get fluid tested so I think you should do that.

La why is 38 weeks too late, because of your spd/hip issues?

teejayem · 27/04/2015 16:27

I agree, I think car seats have been wildly overcomplicated, I feel a bit miffed that you almost get railroaded by companies into being told you 'need' certain things, when in fact you really don't. But then I guess you can say the same for the whole Cot/Moses/cosleeper thing too. It's a bit morally questionable when businesses know that most first time parents are vulnerable in as much as they want the best/safest product for their pfb and use it as a weapon to milk as much cash out of them as possible.

dulce eek, hope you're okay! Did you get checked out? Please tell us you didn't go to work....

Happy due day splodge - I also have a dual due date (try to say that quickly!!) with one 5th June (Poss wishful thinking) and the other 12th (Lazy egg). Consultant, sonographer and Midwhiff all gave me different ones, and then I had one date from 12 weeks and another from my 20 week.

Fx for you too mini! Magnums all round....

I dodged the GTT as diabetes is all Mr Tee's side, it sounds boak tho Fleur. M&S shopping after tho sounds amazing. They have a load of new picnicky food in the deli bit which I've been nibbling on.

My ankles seem to have gone a bit swollen & cankley. :( I've drunk loads of water and have them propped up. booooooo.

Fleurchamp · 27/04/2015 17:19

I have eaten all the food today Grin

Had such a messed up day. Got in to work late and then got a call from my cleaner to say that our drains are blocked!!! Am now sitting with a drain unblocker guy, the bloody builders and their obsession with pouring plaster down the loo and also the drain outside the house.

We share our drain with our neighbour and hers had actually backed up Shock meaning she had no loo and 3 kids but fortunately we have emergency cover for this sort of thing.

Got to go back to the office, going to be there for hours catching up Sad

mountaingirl01 · 27/04/2015 17:41

Boooo that's really crap fleur -sorry for asking re gtt, still trying to work out if I should be concerned about the whole glucosuria thing. I have no family history at all and eat really healthily so I'm in a bit of a grump!

Hobbit19 · 27/04/2015 18:29

Can't help you there ewu, my first appointment isn't until a week on Thursday. Are you seeing the GP? They may just refer you to the midwife. I got a leaflet that said my first appointment would last 15 mins or so and she would give me some leaflets (pre-booking in) and them she will come to my house for an hour the next week for my booking in appointment. Seems to be different in different areas though.

Toast85 · 27/04/2015 18:31

Oh no, Fred fell off my list of Freda I'm on, so defo time to de-lurk and post. I have been a bit boggled by car seat talk I'm afraid. No idea what we'll get.
Although- I have seen some advertised which apparently do from birth right through to 4 years. Assuming no car accidents in that time, does anyone think it's realistic that it would actually last that long, with daily use?

Fleurchamp · 27/04/2015 18:44

TBH my midwife made the appointment but even said herself it is probably pointless as I do not show any signs and the reason my mum has diabetes is due to another condition that's not inherited. But she wanted to be on the safe side.

I bet I end up with GD now Hmm

What have the Drs/ midwife said about glucosuria?

Cymraes17 · 27/04/2015 19:12

We have a britax frist class plus (since DD1) and its still in use, all 3 have used it. Will need a new cover for this one though. We then went on to britax evolva 123 then a britax somethingorother without buckles for independacy.

Hobbit19 · 27/04/2015 19:59

Flippin eck, kittens all over the shop. Another first cycle bfp on the undergrads!

WilHarlot · 27/04/2015 20:20

Ooh more newbies, exciting.

Generally the multi-stage carseats aren't considered as safe for newborns as the small seats but I'm sure they make advancements all the time so best to check what's available when you're ready to buy.

First doctor's app is normally a total waste of time and huge anti climax. They tell you to avoid alcohol, soft cheese and phone the midwife.

Toast85 · 27/04/2015 20:23

Ooh thanks wil, good to know. Not done enough research yet clearly!
