Walking and buggfit classes for me to lose weight. However when DD turns 1 it will be back to work FT and a long commute so will be a struggle to keep it off I imagine!

Zampa · 18/05/2015 21:49

I've been looking into gyms with crèches but they're not the cheapest ... Might see if I can persuade DP to buy me an annual membership as a push present. However, I'm not sure if I'll want to leave my PFB in a gym crèche ...

Buggyfit looks good Lucky. Do you need a special joggers' pram for it?

smallgreenbanana · 18/05/2015 22:05

ohlordy I think you're assuming the sheep is au naturelle and has not been suitably prepared with detergent in advance by the Boots shepherding department. It's a bit like one of those nappy laundry services - just leave your used sheep outside in the meadow and new ones are herded into place. Grin

Fattycow · 18/05/2015 22:13

But do make sure they are black sheep! That way, they don't show stains so much!

smallgreenbanana · 18/05/2015 22:19

luckystar What are you planning on doing it the strike goes ahead next Tuesday? It would be funny if we were on the same train and started a maternity club. I'm sure the concentration of oestrogen in our carriage would be quite overwhelming for the gentlemen commuters Wink

Yes no offence meant broody Just a bit of fun!

Discovered today that Cadbury have changed the recipe of buttons so they're only 20% cocoa solids, whereas other Cadbury chocolate is 25%. I know this because I had a bag of buttons and a Twirl (talking about treats...) and the buttons don't taste that nice any more. Thought it was just Creme Eggs I just had to boycott. How disappointing... Hmm

MustBeLoopy390 · 19/05/2015 08:47

I'm not sure how I would like to loose the weight this time, I walk about a lot and plan to go onto the harcombe diet eventually (had the book etc for about 2 years now... Just haven't got round to it)
I noticed buttons tasted funny but just marked it down to pregnancy! Bloody stupid Cadburys, if it ain't broke don't fix it!! Hopefully going to a food festival with dh and kids on Sunday, can't wait :) my idea of heaven lol

Naturegirl82 · 19/05/2015 08:56

must I can highly recommend the Harcombe diet. Dh and I usually stick to it (I don't in pregnancy and he has been marathon training so stopped for a while) but it is so easy, it really helps you lose weight but you also feel fantastic. It really helps with my PCOS symptoms as well. And there is no portion control so no going hungry ever!

I'll be devastated if Cadbury buttons have changed. They are my favourite chocolate because I'm a big kid!

MustBeLoopy390 · 19/05/2015 08:59

The pcos symptom management and no portion control was what drew me to it :) just need to be strong enough to give up heavily frosted cakes lol!

Naturegirl82 · 19/05/2015 09:40

It's honestly great must the first five days are hard though but it's only 5 days and then you can pretty much eat anything you want. The rules are really easy to remember and follow (and easy to stick to when eating out as well). Dh and I hate diets as we are rubbish at sticking to them but we love this as it's so easy and brill results. It's also a long term change in eating so no fads.

Naturegirl82 · 19/05/2015 09:42

lucky you might find you have bought to many. I followed the advice of by twice as many as you'll think you'll need last time and I still have enough left to not need to buy any this time haha Grin

Charliej86 · 19/05/2015 10:00

I think we just plan in less take aways and more exercise. We've never done a lot of exercise so plan on lots of walks and maybe invest in bikes. I've got a fitness dvd then just eating healthier, we've been very lazy and I've had a love of chocolate which is not normal for me.

Fattycow · 19/05/2015 11:37

I am going to make myself an experimental lunch. Hopefully it'll taste nice!

NotPennysBoat · 19/05/2015 12:15

Zampa and those planning to hit the gym once all healed - when DS was small I would take him into the gym with me, give him a good bf beforehand (also better for bouncing boobies!) and then he would sleep in his pram next to the cross-trainer/running machine whatever. During the week you'll probably find gyms are nice and quiet during the daytime, and the hum of the machines actually helps them to go to sleep! Better option than a crèche when they are really tiny.

Almost filled this thread now, I wonder if our next thread will feature our first birth??

On the topic of MaternityPad-Gate, I'm in the proper padded maternity pad camp! That extra padding provides a bit of cushioning, and really to echo the other second/third time mums, after birth 'bleeding' is nothing like wee, poo or period!

Fattycow · 19/05/2015 12:51

I'll set up a new thread in a bit, so it's waiting there for us once we've filled this one up!

MrsFbabyNo1 · 19/05/2015 12:51

Morning all, so while we're still on the subject of post birth pads...

For us first timers can anyone explain about the frozen / chilled pad thing. Wink

I've bought some of Joys recommended mama bottom spray (x2 bottles!!) so can use that the spray directly on to bits or could do the iced pad thing. But unsure what to actually do...

Do you saturate the pad with water, witch hazel, lavender, or whatever (bottom spray) and freeze.

Or just lightly damp them and freeze.

I guess as they defrost while wearing the pad contains any of the water?!

Yippee to the next thread and some babies Grin Grin Grin Grin

Fattycow · 19/05/2015 12:56

New thread is there, all nice and ready waiting for us to come over and fill it up. Smile

Fattycow · 19/05/2015 12:57

My SIL just froze the pads without anything on them.

Fattycow · 19/05/2015 13:35

Oh, and to make the new thread even more exciting, I have added something to the stats list! Wink

Luckystar82 · 19/05/2015 13:57

Why would you freeze mat pads?

Where I shop, mat pads are much cheaper than Tena lady, so I've gone with mat pads.

small I probably won't bother going to work if there is a strike, will just have to work from home. I've noticed loads of pregnant ladies on the train - don't know if I'm just more alert to them or if there is a baby boom amongst commuting ladies?! I guess it's one way of getting out of the long commute!! I'm lucky in that I have a work laptop so can be pretty flexible at short notice and wfh. I'm just glad all my fieldwork is this week and last week so my travel won't be interrupted as I have reporting deadlines to meet before I can go on mat leave!

Just found out today I've won a new contract at work which will need to be delivered before I go off... was kinda hoping we didn't win it even though I did the pitch. In two minds whether to do it or pass it to a colleague as it might be too much for me at 34+ weeks

Fattycow · 19/05/2015 13:58

lucky, frozen pads can give you so much relief if your foof is sore!

Luckystar82 · 19/05/2015 14:17

fattycow aha!

Fattycow · 19/05/2015 14:24

Imagine you bashing your ankle and it swelling up and hurting. An ice pack is than the most wonderful thing ever to put on it. A frozen pad works the same for your poor swollen and sore foof.

MrsFbabyNo1 · 19/05/2015 21:41

Thanks Fatty, love the analogy, the bashing of the foof needs an ice pack!

Had 32 wk midwife appointment today - all is well inc bloods so no iron tablets needed and baby has been head down with his back to my front since my last apt so hope he stays that way - and then went to an antenatal bfing session afterwards. Plus got health visitor apt on Thursday. Busy week!

I think I'm getting Braxton hicks!!! Was not totally sure, feels like dull ache / period pains at the v bottom of bump. Had them a few times and just thought it was probably baby moving way down low making me uncomfortable. Its definitely there for a short time then just goes. But I read on another thread bout bh that sex can bring them on. TMI but think that's what's just happened to me Wink and so why I think they now must definitely bh. Not as bad / painful as I thought they would be. Smile

Luckystar82 · 19/05/2015 23:04

I'm getting braxton hicks quite regularly in the evenings now MrsF agree not too painful, more uncomfortable and my bump goes really, really hard!

Charliej86 · 20/05/2015 07:22

Really not looking forward to work today after 2weeks off. I know I only work 16 hours a week but it's only over 2 days so that's 2 8 hour shifts. My shift today will probably be ran by my store manager who thinks the answer to my pregnancy is to put me on tills. This means standing basically in 1 spot for 71/2 hrs (30mins lunch) other line managers try to let me fill lighter stock on shelves but manager has been having words with them.

I'm going to see how today goes then think about trying to move up my holidays & maternity or go on sick for last 3 weeks. Not ideal but I really can't bear the idea of it.

Never not wanted to go to work so much Sad
