That sounds horrible smallgreenbanana I get all weak and sick when it's hot and airless so I can imagine. I hope you feel better soon.

zampa Lol it's a real thing! What people don't tel you is that pumping takes absolutely ages, much longer than a normal feed in my experience. It's not glamorous but I expect it's quite practical, better than holding both hands to up your chest for 45 minutes anyway.

fattymcfatfat · 18/05/2015 10:46

sorry not pregnancy related but I'm happy Grin just been wandering around the web and stumble upon the fact that a new DBZ is out in July!!! 18 years and they are finally carrying on Grin

Zampa · 18/05/2015 12:38

DBZ?

Hope that it was just the heating small and not a cold. Seems like we're all dropping like flies in Manchester.

Fattycow · 18/05/2015 12:41

It's about time we are getting new DBZ!

small, I hate it when they do that!

fattymcfatfat · 18/05/2015 12:47

small I would have thrown up, I can't stand public transport when pregnant and if I was tot hot aswell as uncomfortable then I wouldn't 've able to stop myself.

zampa Dragon ball z

fatty they haven't confirmed when it will be English dubbed but I'm sure it won't be long before funimation do it. I think they may dub the DBZ kai buu saga first though. it would make more sense to do it that way. either way though I'm happy. Grin

I’m 32 weeks today. Just had my whopping cough jab this morning and have MW appointment this afternoon. Looking forward to seeing what position baby is in. I seem to have had a growth spurt in last week, uterus now high up and restricting my breathing. Have been travelling all over country for work by train staying in hotels and dragging about my suitcase so has been hard-going. Doing it all again this week, but after that just 3 weeks of work left which includes a BH so not long to go now.

Have been recommended by friend to put name down for nursery place this week as waiting list opens. Can’t believe we have to do this before baby is even born! It is a great nursery, in fact I was one of the first children to attend it 30+ years ago and the same lady runs it (plus she remembers me!). I have heard waiting lists around here are 6:1 place! Just not sure what hours/ sessions we want as we can’t afford full time. DH will be doing most wrap around care as he WFH but it is difficult having the conversation so soon. The other option is child minder which is same price, but we would prefer the nursery experience. I’m just very worried about deciding on sessions now when we have no idea what will work for us in a year’s time!

thanks for giving me hope about my transverse baby turning, I’m hoping she will turn. Off to MW today so will check on position (I find it difficult to tell what position she is in) was a breech baby. I was breech at 40 weeks. And at 41. I turned all by myself at 41+5, about started at 41+6 and my mum had me in the early hours of 42 weeks. So plenty of time for baby to turn head down. I’m not sure about spinning babies either – friend recommended it but she didn’t turn and end up with C-section . not sure it is worth the effort or injury risk! But I have been doing the inverse position you describe and sitting on a yoga ball when I can.

aretepetite hope you had a good break, well deserved after your scare!

broody meeska good to hear your thoughts about AP. I think I will follow it a bit but want to try more structured style too. I am reading wonder weeks at the moment which is helpful for getting in the shoes of a baby and seeing things from their perspectives so you can best meet their needs. Interesting about the over-stimulation, my NCT teacher talked about that last week. Apparently is baby turns their head away it means they might be over-stimulated and they need a break. I’m glad to have heard this advice as I wouldn’t have a clue. Babies have so much to take in that it probably feels overwhelming for them at times and they can only cry to express their frustration.

I’ve brought an ergobaby, tried it out with my friend’s newborn and he loved it. We have the newborn insert, he looked so cuddly in it, like a little glow-worm! My friend said she found the sling very comfortable (she has a caboo which is good for the early days) so I’m glad we invested in an ergo baby cause I too have a bad back in normal life. I do worry it will be too warm to use it in summer though – time will tell.

zampa feel your pain re clothing for work. My third pair of JoJo maman black trousers have just split down the sides. Crap quality – off to get my third refund! Will probably have to rebuy to get me through last few weeks of work! I think the bf bra is a real thing – I have seen the Kardashians wearing a version! Doesn’t look very comfortable though!

oops - accidentally copied +pasted following sentences so please ignore!

was a breech baby. I was breech at 40 weeks. And at 41. I turned all by myself at 41+5, about started at 41+6 and my mum had me in the early hours of 42 weeks. So plenty of time for baby to turn head down.

Luckystar82 · 18/05/2015 13:06

no idea what DBZ is!

smallgreenbanana have a feeling you get the same train to London as I do. I hate when they turn the heating on! Last friday on way home mid-afternoon in the sunshine the heating was on...wtf?! I always sit on an aisle seat to avoid the feeling of being suffocated. My dad is also terrible for turning heating right up in his car so you can't breathe, it's horrible and I tell him so!

Fattycow · 18/05/2015 13:09

Welcome nurse! You can add your stats to the stats list (it is somewhere on the first page).

Fattycow · 18/05/2015 13:12

I put the blower in the car on cold the other day, as my feet where so hot! Poor DH turned it back to normal, as his feet where getting frozen and he was driving.

fattymcfatfat · 18/05/2015 13:26

I have a fan next to my bed. I'm just thankful I'm not pregnant all the way through summer this time, and I can enjoy a bit if sunshine (if we get any) without being pregnant!

Fattycow · 18/05/2015 13:28

Be careful with the sun! Even after delivery, the hormones are crazy and you could still end up with a 'pregnancy mask'.

Zampa · 18/05/2015 13:35

Ah, Dragon Ball Z (none the wiser ...)

I'm at home in bed feeling awful and every time I cough, I feel like the baby is going to burst out of me, Alien style ...

That can't happen, right? Right?!

Fattycow · 18/05/2015 13:37

No, that cannot happen! You are more likely to piss yourself a few times, as coughing puts pressure on your bladder! So maybe put one of those pads in the bed just in case?

Fattycow · 18/05/2015 13:39

But speaking of Alien style baby: I dreamt last night about the body parts sticking out of my bump. I could see the little face and nose and at one point the entire arm of baby! It wasn't freaky at all at the time, but it is now... Also, at one point I could actually cradle baby in my arms, while s/he was still inside. Now that is some freaky stuff to dream!

fattymcfatfat · 18/05/2015 13:42

zampa it's anime. basically a cartoon Wink

as for baby popping out, not going to happen. although I was scared to push to much when having a poo just in case baby fell into the toilet when I was expecting number 1 Grin

and the dreams! I dreamt I gave birth to millions of spiders.

broodylicious · 18/05/2015 13:49

lucky, AP doesn't mean adopting an unstructured style of parenting. It means understanding and tuning into the baby's needs, listening and responding to them accordingly - ie not putting them on a "schedule" or ignoring their cries just because they've got a dry bottom and have been fed. A lot of people seem to think it's pandering to your baby, letting them rule the roost or making yourself a martyr but one of the key points to AP is having boundaries or kind of rules so it's absolutely not like that at all.

Fattycow · 18/05/2015 13:50

Not spiders! Shock

I've had a few very vivid baby dreams:
Baby came way early, but was a good size. It was a boy. We didn't have the car seat yet, so we drove to my SIL (she lives nearby) to borrow hers. We didn't have a definite boy name at the time, so we made do with the one we were thinking about... A few days later we settled on a different boy's name, so I think it was my brain telling me to get a move on. We also ordered the pram a couple of days later, which came with a free car seat.
The other dream was even weirder. I was in hospital (no idea why), in a bed, discussing with my midwife that I would be having a homebirth and I wasn't due yet. She agreed with this. I got out of the bed and walked down the hall, about to go home. DH wasn't there, he was parking the car or something like that. While walking, my right leg and hip suddenly didn't cooperate well. I felt between my legs and there was the top of baby's head! So I quickly went back to the room with the bed I was in earlier, popped on sideways and the baby just came out, nearly getting stuck between the bedrails! It was a little girl and I said 'of course you are mummy's little girl'. Apparently there was another lady in the room as well, in a different bed. She went and got the midwife, who came in with my DH as he had parked the car. The baby was then checked and weighed. I remember the weight being very specific, just 2845 grams. This is of course quite tiny, so I'm curious to see how much baby will be once s/he is here!

fattymcfatfat · 18/05/2015 13:52

I just have fucked up nightmares. do not watch the hand that rocks the cradle while pregnant! Sad

Fattycow · 18/05/2015 13:56

I haven't had many nightmares, thank god!

Fattycow · 18/05/2015 14:22

I nearly pissed myself just now... Baby suddenly put loads of pressure on my bladder! Shock

Zampa · 18/05/2015 14:38

I have now read about DBZ and it sounds awesome. Huge fan of Studio Ghibli so will have to do some watching.

Talking of wetting oneself ... I was reading about maternity pads today and lots of recommendations for Tena Lady pants ... Anyone given them a go?

Fattycow · 18/05/2015 14:50

I have bought a few Tena Lady Discreet Pants for after labour. They look like underwear. The normal pants are not that nice looking.
I figure they will be good for the nights, as they will stay in place instead of shifting like normal pads in your underwear are prone to do.

www.tena.co.uk/women/product-information/our-products/protective-underwear/tena-lady-pants-discreet/

Fattycow · 18/05/2015 14:52

And yes, DBZ is awesome! I was addicted to the series as a teen! They used to show an episode each day on Cartoon Network back then...

broodylicious · 18/05/2015 15:02

So we've been talking about this on fb. The bleeding after birth is not like a period. You can get clots and it's just horrible heavy bleeding. I'm not sure tena pants would stand up to that kind of flow? I went through mat pads and always night maxi pads like they were going out of business after I had dd! The first few days, I even had two lining my big granny knickers! Personal choice but ime, this is one time when bulky horrid pads do come into their own.
