Aretepetite · 16/05/2015 09:10

Hey everyone

Off for a night away with dh. I'm looking forward to some r & r.

Ended up in hospital being monitored yesterday, they were concerned that I was in labour ! Luckily I'm not and lo is still cooking. I am positive that I have pgp though.

We are on the road just now and it feels good :)

I will give a proper update when we are settled in hotel. Main thing is we (me & baby) are ok.

Hope you are all having a good weekend ladies and aches and pains are at a minimum Grin

Hi Linseyd - nice to hear from you. [wave] hope your well :)

Arete hope you are feeling better! Ds and I are having a lazy day while dd is at her biodads and dh is at work, watching a few transformers films today :)

MrsFbabyNo1 · 16/05/2015 14:10

Hope you and baby are both feeling better and you and dh have a lovely relaxing night Arete.

Hi Linsey!!

It's 61 for me Broody but more importantly only 29 working days at work left!!!! Although I do love my job so will be sad to leave.

Ta, Broody, Will have a look at that link.

Shopping news...
Received a lovely calin blue cool cotton wrap (after wrap convos on prev threads) in duck egg blue in the post today. Bought it off ebay so only £20 and in mint condition. Don't think they do that colour anymore but lovely baby boy colour and MrF thinks it's manly enough too.

Plus Ergo360 in grey is now stocked in mothercare for 7% off (£129.90) and we can get another 7% off via a works load n spend type card. So be £120. Still a lot of money so are they worth it????? Should I buy????

Think remember them being said as one of the best and read particularly good for the carrier's back (MrF has history of slipped disc so that be important and worth spending a bit more). Grey unisex so will last for all ours babies if had girl in future...

to shop or not to shop that is the question Wink

Hello Ladies,

Hope everyone is doing great.

DP and I toured our local hospital today Epsom whoop whoop. It was very informative and the birth centre was amazing, enough to tempt me into having no pain medication Grin.

That said Epsom is very flexible, you could start off in BC and if you feel you can't handle the pain be transferred to the delivery unit.

We felt so reassured by the tour. So many questions for my mw next time I see her re how late/early you can have an epidural. I am convinced I don't want pd.

My app says I have 50 days left. Smile resting at home today watching TV. Had brunch on our way back and took my 33 weeks bumpie, definitely bigger now Smile

smallgreenbanana · 16/05/2015 17:09

Exhausted! Cleaned and tidied house for guests which was hard with all this extra weight. Just waiting for them to turn up now... At least there's sunshine and toast.

broodylicious · 16/05/2015 17:09

Sounds fab joy. And great the mlu is next to the labour ward. I'd love that but our local mlu is 40 mins away from both of our city's hospitals! Too risky for worry wart me Hmm By pd did you mean pethidine? That's a definite no for me too, if so - mum had it with me and said she was off the planet for five days! Thought my cousin was her brother and kept saying I was a boy!

OP posts:
JoY007 · 16/05/2015 18:13

Hi broody yes pethidine. Oh dear! I heard weird things about it spacing one out. I want to be as alert as I can be when birthing but will like it to be pain free as well.

I also heard...and please don't take my word for it, as I believe some of it is coming from pro all
natural campaigners. I heard you recover faster without pain medication particularly without epidural. I am not convinced by that argument Confused

On an exciting note my LO made a fist impression pushing against my belly you could see the rounded shape, soooo cool! By the time I moved gently for my phone to take a pic he had changed position Smile

broodylicious · 16/05/2015 19:49

It's so hard joy because until you're there and living it, you just don't know how you will cope with the pain. I had absolutely no pain relief whatsoever (bar two paracetamols the next day for a banging headache - totally dehydrated due to not drinking enough during labour) and point blank refused gas and air. I had done pg yoga and was confident I could do it without drugs and like you say, I wanted to be completely alert. I was knackered afterwards, sure, but I was "with it" and knew everything that was happening.

The thing with pethidine is that it crosses over the placenta too so babies can be very drowsy and end up being delivered silently, no crying or anything. When mum was telling me how spaced out she was after having it, I imagined that I also must have been in a haze those first few days of my life too! Obviously, mum refused it when she had my sister and went completely natural.

Not sure if no drugs = quicker recovery but I could see why that could be the case.

Hello! Room for one more?

Bump is measuring 33 cm at 30 weeks. Is this a big deal? on the chart it looks horrendous! But 3 cm? That's not that much! Or is it?!?

broodylicious · 17/05/2015 07:53

Welcome nurseSmile Hope your pregnancy is going well. I personally wouldn't pay any attention to charts and graphs and only worry if your mw says she's concerned. If she's not said anything or sent you for scans, I wouldn't panic.

Just shrunk my favourite maternity work dress ... Suppose there's only 6 weeks of work left but BOO HOO! Sad

Charliej86 · 17/05/2015 17:26

Hello everyone I'm back from my holidays. It was absolutely fab for the kids, I would definitely recommend a first choice holiday village. However I found it too hot and tiny bit stressful. Kept worrying that something may go wrong or baby may come while we're there. And it was very hot making relaxing and enjoying quite difficult. I'm extremely pleased to be home.

We have our lil mans name picked and have done since about 22weeks (31now) we loved the name jack but that's the name of the nieces best friend and he's hard work, put us off lol. We struggled for a while as OH wants Colin in the name as it was his dad's name and also his, so we have settled on, Colin Franky. He'll be known by his middle name as OH is. Just can't wait for him to come now

Oh all the stress we had getting my fit to fly and NOONE looked at it!!!!

NurseP · 17/05/2015 19:12

Hello! Room for one more? Anyone else measuring bigger than their weeks? 30 weeks and measuring 33 cm. On the chart it looks horrendous! But is 3 cm anything to worry about? Husband was a whopper at 10 lb 4!!! Eek!

NurseP · 17/05/2015 19:17

Sorry for double post! First one didn't show for some reason!

Thanks Broody, she said they didn't scan anymore for big measurements though I do have a placenta location scan ar 34 weeks so I guess they can see how big he is then.
Zampa - I feel your pain, I have somehow got a hole in the bum of my work trousers!

fattymcfatfat · 17/05/2015 19:30

I've shrunk a pair of my maternity jeans. Sad

nurse I wouldn't worry about it. my growth chart has my 50th centile line at a 9lber and I was measuring on the 90th centile at 28 weeks. I did get a tape measure and measure from the top of my bump to my pubic bone before though (your post made me curious) and that said 39 cm at 30 weeks! (I led down and measured where I think the mw measured roughly) I gathered I could be wrong though but I can't be 6cm out? can I? so I may be about the same size as you, if not bigger. I suppose I will find out in a couple of weeks Grin

broodylicious · 17/05/2015 20:39

Ah that'll be good to have then, nurse. I had to have that scan too with dd but luckily the placenta had moved so no issues - fx same for you. It could have just been the way baby was lying on the day of your mw appt which is why she didn't say anything.

evening ladies have we all got our names yet ive chose my little dudes name he will be called stanley so excited cant wait to meet him
xxxx

NurseP · 17/05/2015 23:51

Stanley is a lively name! I can't see how the measurements are that important, they don't allow for baby changing position at all. I have days when very 'long' bump then days where very 'sideways' . Ho hum, they don't seem too worried! X
Not really too sure where they measure to so would be difficult for me to check - though I do know that they have to dig around a bit! X

Zampa · 18/05/2015 09:31

DP has just sent me this link;

www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004S8MGGQ/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_DjAwvb1YCEHJ5

Is it a real thing or is he taking the p*ss?!

smallgreenbanana · 18/05/2015 10:12

Welcome NurseP Smile

Had an awful train journey this morning - they put the heating on for some reason. Yes it's raining but it's not actually cold. I felt so hot and unwell I had to have a sit down when I got the station, and even now I still feel ill. Confused
