Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 25th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 42nd outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal clubs here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

The stats sheet will be linked to by our stats hero La (can't do on iPad sorry!)

So, roll call below please, viroids!

Hope the funeral goes ok Mini Thanks

KatoPotato · 13/04/2015 06:16

Insomnia crew member checking in! Heartburn, asthma cough and constipation here.

I was also stuck in cabriofix/pebble quandary, as pram centre was doing package deals on both and there would only be £20 difference. However I happened to try and lift the pebble in john Lewis and the sheer bloody weight of it even empty was crazy! Now I'm an ex kettlebell and weight lifting nut but the way the weight swung on the handle was horrid.

DS had a Cabriofix and I loved it, and I like a change, but chose new cab in the end!

Both seats fit on the Familyfix ISO base which pram Centre are selling as a package with with seat just now?

mountaingirl01 · 13/04/2015 07:17

Hope it all goes OK today mini

DulcetMoans · 13/04/2015 07:24

Ah wil, you sound a bit down. Hope you're ok. It's bound to be tough, especially at the start, but hopefully will get easier. Or at least there will be more sleep available!

How has he managed not to drive so long with a job like that pixie?! DH here didn't learn until he was about 26 I think but he had one main place of work so bit easier than getting about to all different houses! Hope he can get one that soon, much easier if you can both drive!

A sausage bagel is a good alternative tee. Boy done good, minus moaning!

How easy would it be for you to go get those things if you needed them when baby was born deeply? If you are in a city you could just see how you go and buy quickly if needed!

Right I need to check out this pram centre, don't I?! Still none the wiser on that area.

Monday - eurgh.

LaLaLaaaa · 13/04/2015 07:36

Morning!

Hope today is ok mini Flowers I also find my dad stressful so can sympathise. I hope it's a lovely send off for your gran

You've all confirmed what I thought about car seats and cabriofix is only £99 at halfords just now. I will take a look at pramcentre kato I love that shop and kiddiesave. So much cheaper! Have also used your mattress shop recommendation so thank you. I think the weight of the pebble isn't worth the chance of holiday as we don't know yet if we will go on holiday. Would probably just take child in carrier if flying.

I've got an avent microwave steriliser
Deeply that was half price on amazon. If you join boots baby club they have a third off them too. I've not bought pump yet for same reason wil just said, but I'll grab one as soon as I know whether bf is going to work for us as I want to be able to express. Have all the bottles and milk containers already as my friend gave us some.

Big purchase still to make is the monitor - still can't decide which one. Got a baby show end of month so will look then.

We finished doing garden yesterday - been planting veg and flowers to make it nice for when I'm on mat leave. Got a garden bench now too so I can sit outside with baby when I want to. It was free from freecycle

Glad you're a bit better pixie. I've got Physio referral 23rd so will get hips checked. Definite pain when lying on either side but I'm still convinced it's not SPD.

Have a good day everyone! Good luck to daisy and 5hell I hope you can get checked out today

LaLaLaaaa · 13/04/2015 07:37

I think there's a peppa pig world near London. My friend went recently

Purpleball · 13/04/2015 07:44

Morning viroids.

We're going for the silver cross car seat as it fits on the pram. The maxi cosi also fits on the pram but I quite like the idea of it all being colour coordinated. There didn't seem to be any advantage of the maxi cosi over the silver cross

Dreams are horrendous here, people dying, DH leaving, EXH reappearing....awful!

Starting to love my dream genii now, it took a bit of getting used to. I need to get a cover for it though

Think I felt some faint bubbles type movements last night but not for long, then I stayed awake for ages waiting for more and to see if I'd imagined it and it didn't happen again!

I'm off to Cork later for work, only for 2 nights and they've put me in a hotel in the middle of nowhere so I won't get to see any of it. I'm not looking forward to it as I've got to get to Manchester airport in rush hour, and I hate the customer I'm going to see Hmm
I tried to say I'm too pregnant to fly but they laughed at me Smile

Fleurchamp · 13/04/2015 07:45

Morning all!

I preferred the snuzpod but like the idea of hiring as we don't have much space here to store things.

We bought an audi a3, a few years old but new to us and very sensible Smile.

Will need to start thinking about car seats too now, initial thoughts were for the pebble but we shall see.

Slowly ticking things off the list.

I just bought an avent manual pump, few newborn bottles and a steriliser just in case. I would like to try expressing from the off and the aim, once my milk supply has started, is for DH to give a bottle of ebm before bed. He is really excited about that but wants to do it at a certain time, which suits him, I have tried to explain Hmm

I found the 2nd trimester really good, loads more energy and I hate to say it but I do think I got the "bloom". I am only just into the 3rd trimester and am finding life just all the more tiring, my lower back aches and I am having "bum issues".

I am not sure I could deal with another child too. DH is keen to have two, and having a sibling I do agree, but thinking about it, I would have a toddler and a job with the next pregnancy. I feel exhausted just thinking about it!!!

Hope everyone's well, I should really keeps notes as I read, hope the funerals and Drs appts go well Flowers

Purpleball · 13/04/2015 07:46

Min I hope it goes ok today.

Peppa pig world is in Hampshire I think

5hell and Daisy hope all is ok today

LaLaLaaaa · 13/04/2015 07:55

I also am wondering how folk do pg with a toddler so big respect to those of you (wil, splodge, pixie et al) who are doing it. I didn't realise how all encompassing being pg would be. Just realised me and dh have dtd 4 times in 27 weeks!

I'm sure I will forget though and want another soon after this one, definitely want 2.

Really need to get up now

Jcandy · 13/04/2015 08:00

Gosh there are so many things to buy!! And I'm terrible at decisions Confused will be relying on you viroids when it comes to it!

Thanks for the cramp reassurance everyone, it's pretty scary but ok if it's normal.

Hope today goes ok mini Flowers

PixieChops · 13/04/2015 08:02

Good luck for today Mini, I'm another one that has nothing to do with my dad so can understand what you're going through. He's not even bothered to meet his grand daughter and I don't think I've seen him in nearly 3 years now. Not that I'm bothered, I'm very lucky that I have an amazing step dad instead and he is very much involved with his grand daughter who will call him grandad.

La your garden sounds lovely. We were bought a monitor and it was only a sound one (none of these fancy ones) works perfectly well and DD was in her own room at 3 weeks. We worked out we were actually keeping her awake and even though she woke regularly for feeds she slept for 3-4 hours at a time.

DD has still been coughing all night but there's no sign of a cold so I'm now convinced it's asthma Hmm hopefully I'll get to see a doc today and they'll be able to give us something for her as its a hell of a lot worse at night and elevating her isn't helping.

ChatEnOeuf · 13/04/2015 08:22

Hope all goes well today Mini.

Deeply I got the Avent steriliser which came with a couple of free bottles - didn't use it a great deal though as DD was one of those babies and refused the bottle completely after a couple of attempts. Windy love she was which must have been unpleasant. Still, would have liked DH to do the before-work feed once in a while... You can hand express if you need so probably no need to rush into getting a pump - though I heard a rumour there's another Asda baby event starting this weekend so it could be worth picking one up in advance.

Eek, Purple, exciting!

We have the Cybex Aton carseat - it was the lightest one and was good for DD until 14-15m, which reassures me with the new rear-facing rules - and it fitted our travel system...easy decision.

Still need to work out if our monitor is working. I know the rechargeable batteries had died a death, so it should just be a matter of replacing those, but I'm reluctant to believe that will be the case - don't really need one for the early nights but it'll be useful when DD is out in the garden and the baby is sleeping.

Wil Peppa World is a date! I'll bring the wine Lord knows we'll need it.

teejayem · 13/04/2015 08:40

Beautiful outside this morning, hope it goes okay today min. Flowers

We got a car seat with the travel system, just need a base for it now; we have one car with isofix and one without so will prob go with a regular Cosatto universal base.
I still need to get a sheet and a couple of cellular blankets for the co sleeper, but other than that I think we are there Shock. Just the odd few bits for hospital bag, most of which are nice to haves, I'm going to hang fire with a pump in case he refuses a bottle, Mr tee is very keen on feeding too fleur and I def want him to be involved, but I think he thinks he'll be able to do it from the off and I don't think that's going to be the case.....
Not going fora monitor just yet either, there's a secondary list of bits I think we need but am going to wait and see if they are necessary - I only have four more full paydays left before I drop to mat pay, so I'm conscious of not splurging if I can help it. All my insomnia anxiety revolves around how we are going to manage financially at the moment, which we will, but it's going to be tight, and, well you just worry don't you! Also the whole going back to work thing is a total stress; I'd be going back pretty much at a loss once travel and childcare were taken away; and we wouldn't get much help (DM already has nephew x3 times a week and MiL is just a big no no) so really I'd need to look at something evenings and weekends, although wouldn't be possible if Mr Tee's job keeps him travelling as it does at the moment, also it would be outside of my profession completely as day job is very much 9-5. Hoping to do a bit of side forecasting/writing for a site I've freelanced with sometimes.
Ultimately we need to move to a cheaper area, think I've said before how high the rents are here, and it's a proper swizz becasue our village is really nice!

Purpleball · 13/04/2015 08:42

I saw a breastfeeding starter kit in mothercare which had a handheld pump, a couple of bottles and some breast milk storage. I've put it on my list. We're being given an electric TT steriliser so we need TT bottles apparently. Although I've been told to get anti colic bottles but I think I'll wait to see how bf goes

I need babypurple to take a bottle or I can't go on my Christmas do - getting my priorities right Smile
I don't know at what point you should try to get them to take bottles though, at least after bf is established I imagine

WilHarlot · 13/04/2015 08:43

Dont let them fob you off Pixie. Doctors are notoriously bad at treating infant asthma but they can give you preventative medication. It might be worth looking at the asthma UK site to see if there's any info to back you up. My friend took in an article from a magazine to prove to her doctor it was better to treat the baby rather than just leave it.

JCandy you don't need half the stuff, we just like shopping Wink .

Thanks Dulcet, think I've just had quite a lot going on and not had the best week with chicken pox and stuff. Pg was quite knackering with a toddler but it's much more work since the baby actually arrived. Not quite sure how people with more, like Cym and Zing manage it. It would probably be easier if I'd waited another 6 months or a year before getting pregnant so the age gap was a bit bigger, but then I think this is such a short time really and hopefully being closer in age will be nice as they grow up. That or they'll hate each other and I'll be stuck in a hormonal teenage warzone Grin . Sorry for being a big moan. I'll try to cheer the fuck up!

WilHarlot · 13/04/2015 08:54

Unless they have difficulty feeding at the start, you should be able to introduce bottles early on. Definitely do it by six weeks although I'd actually say three. I think the key is giving one regularly enough which is where I failed here. MiniWil had a bottle every night from three weeks old and we never had a problem. But I couldn't find the time to express with this one so totally arsed it up. Although she now also refuses a dummy which she used to take so it may just be her.

Fleur after the initial few weeks you should be able to do a bottle at more or less the same time every night. That's what we did and it worked great at establishing a night time routine. The time maybe varied up to an hour initially but by six weeks was probably fairly consistent. slaps self in face for not doing the same this time.

Fleurchamp · 13/04/2015 09:32

Thanks wil for the advice!

But DH would like to feed at 9.30pm so he can go to bed at 10pm (he is up at 5am most days) and says he's not going to do it if it's any later! Added to that he doesn't get home until 6.30pm most nights, I am not sure how it's going to work Confused

I think he is going to get a shock that babies do not work to his timetable like I have to

Purpleball · 13/04/2015 09:57

Thanks Wil. I think I need to express and get DH to do a bottle from early on then Smile

Fleur I think your DH is in for a shock, as am I lol

I keep telling people I've ordered a well behaved baby that has a routine. People who know me well say they can believe it Grin

Wil, my SiL got some special tests from Amazon, I think they were called breastflow and they were all my niece would take when SiL stopped BF due to mastitis

Purpleball · 13/04/2015 09:57

Teats not tests

ZylaB · 13/04/2015 10:11

I think I've been lucky with bottles with H. We didn't try her with one until about 6 weeks as she was little and we'd struggled to establish breast feeding and wanted to ensure it was ok. We just used the Philips advent ones we got with our pump and she's been fine with them. She only has one or two a week, usually at night to give me a break, but it's nice to sometimes take them out, even though I usually just breast feed her - we took one to rugby the other week, and also took one to the pub when we went for lunch yesterday (but only cos we hadn't used it over night). She won't take a dummy though, spits it out after about 30 seconds max :)

It's taken me a while to work out that pumping in the mornings gets about twice the milk though :)

ZylaB · 13/04/2015 10:13

fleur my DH doesnt get home until 6.45ish. Starting to stick to more of a routine now, he baths her after a cuddle, then I feed her while he sorts out food for us, we do a story and cuddle and then bed (except she won't go to bed until 9.30-11pm ish and cluster feeds, but we're putting the starts in place hehe)

WilHarlot · 13/04/2015 10:20

Ooh thanks for the tip, will have a look. Sorry for sounding as if I'm ordering you all about, I'm just so cross with myself for arsing it up!

Haha I love his 30 min window Fleur! I feed this one somewhere between 8 or 9 and then that's her until 11 ish so it might work out for you...

KatoPotato · 13/04/2015 10:25

Purple I had a tommee tippee steriliser and put avent bottles in it. Most will fit any bottle

Purpleball · 13/04/2015 11:21

Thanks I figured as much, my brother said they fit better but it's a huge bloody thing!

Wil I hope they work for you and thanks for the advice, I'll try not to make the same mistake. I might not want to leave a 10 week old, but then again I might want a few drinks and a decent nights sleep!
