RL I'm 38weeks on Wednesday and they tend to induce at 10 days over round here.

RL20 · 06/04/2015 11:00

Oh I see! 10 days isn't too bad, better than 14! The friend I spoke about, her due date was on the 3rd and she's being induced on the 15th if nothing happens before, of course.
My partners grandma mentioned the other day that one of hers was late, I asked how late, she said 4 weeks?! I don't know whether she's just remembering wrongly as it would have been about 40 odd years ago, or whether they actually did let you go over that much them years ago! Shock.

Daholster yes I'm hoping so, as I don't feel like we've spent any time together at all.

skyra13 · 06/04/2015 11:01

Morning All thanks for the lovely words cinnamon and daholster Nothing is moving this morning :)

Going to mow the lawn maybe that will do something lol

To be honest with my tooth pain and DH in pain with his ribs from coughing hoping she might stay in another week :) Until we are feeling better! x

FiRaffe · 06/04/2015 11:11

Baby has done a couple of worthwhile wriggles so i'll let them off for now... They don't usually react much in the mornings anyway. Having some lovely tightening to go with them too.

Hope you feel better soon skyra! Mowing the lawn sounds a good plan (unless you get hayfever!)

Hope you feel better too daholster.

RL, you've probably left already but I know they had a fire last week at bicester so hope all you want to go to is open.

AnniaFausta · 06/04/2015 11:27

Congratulations, obeliaboo!

Sorry the itching is still giving you such problems, Siarie.

Last night I had half a dozen or so particularly intense BHs at about bedtime, but nothing more this morning - lots of movement still from baby so that's fine. Practice makes perfect!

Today we have nothing more intensive planned than some pottering in the garden, and given that the sun is out and brightly shining, I'm looking forward to getting on with it! DH is mowing the lawn and I have some seeds to plant :)

RL20 · 06/04/2015 11:27

FiRaffe glad baby's movements have picked up.
Thanks for the heads up, have just googled it! Apparently it was the Carluccios where the fire started.
They say everything is open now other than the Carluccios (article was posted on the 4th) so hopefully all is back to normal! Thanks

cinnamongreyhound · 06/04/2015 11:52

My dh was born in 1966 RL20, was due Christmas day and actually born 27th jan. His sister had been 6lb something so his mum decided to have a home birth with him, he was 10lb and face presentation so she was ambulanced to hospital for emcs. Don't know if face presentation is possible to give birth too vaginally whatever the size but being so big must have hindered the process!

FiRaffe · 06/04/2015 12:22

Blimey, that just sounds painful cinnamon. i'm glad i'm having a baby now, especially with all the stories and things my mum has told me! At least we all know that if there is a problem it should hopefully be picked up quite quickly once we're in hospital.

RL20 · 06/04/2015 13:05

Ouch! And that long overdue, too! Shock.
Yes also grateful for having a baby in this day and age. Hopefully a lot more has come on since then! Grin

daholster · 06/04/2015 13:21

Geuuuurghhh sniff sniff...

Backache is horrid. So is my cold - one v blocked nostril with same side sore eye. And I need a nap! Escaped to lie on the bed for 5 mins cos of back. Been sorting paperwork, its so flipping boring. Done now, just got to file what we need to keep and crack on with the mountain of shredding. I found payslips from 2002!!!! Shock

Mum has nearly finished painting the cloakroom. Dad is (excessively carefully) sanding the nursery and cloakroom doors. MIL is looking after dd and emptying the dishwasher. FIL and dh are putting the radiator on. I should be preparing lunch... And clearing the porch and kitchen! Hmm

Sore bump and a cold makes it seem like hard work though Confused so not really doing it...

Backache comes with BHs. If I didn't know better I'd say he'll come on Thursday or Friday (while my parents are away, they'd be gutted...)

FiRaffe · 06/04/2015 14:14

Sounds like good teamwork in the daholster house! Hope you feel better soon

daholster · 06/04/2015 15:03

Thanks fi

I just had the worst fanny dagger I have ever had. It made me shout and wriggle and then left me close to tears!!!! Shock

cinnamongreyhound · 06/04/2015 18:19

Any news from HeyitsHolly?

Lauren82000 · 06/04/2015 18:22

Oh dear Daholster.

We walked, I'm knackered now and everything hurts. It was proper muddy and I'm so glad I had my wellies on. Had mild contractions all through the meal at the pub and in the car on the way home. They've stopped now but my back still aches. Tried having a nap but just wasn't happening. Sad

daholster · 06/04/2015 19:25

Hopefully it will have helped things move down lauren.

I have been getting backache all day when I'm up with contractions every time I get up and intermittently when I sit. A little sore at times under bump. Stops me staying up and about all the time.

Have already apologised to my mum and dad if he arrives while they are away and they have to drive straight home again!

From today I think baby will be here this week. Either that or I need to sit down a lot more!!!

FiRaffe · 06/04/2015 19:34

Probably wouldn't harm to sit down more daholster!!! At least baby will be a good size etc if he does decide to appear!

Glad the walk was good Lauren, except for the extra pains. Hope baby has made the effort to shift for you!

Have done nothing but watch season 1 of game of thrones all day! Baby has been having a nice wiggly afternoon so that is good.

smogsville · 06/04/2015 20:17

Congratulations obelia, sorry you ha such a shocking time of it at the hospital but lovely to hear you so delighted with your new baby.

Sorry for all the aches and pains. I've got a hot water bottle for lower back and it's helping no end.

Feeling like a bit of a crap mother with regards to DD who has been playing up consistently at bed time for a week or so. I'm doing a lot of pointless shouting and venting while she just gets more and more whipped up and less and less likely to calm down. I'm not fishing for reassurance or anything, just having a bit of a rant! I expect it's new baby anticipation and we just need to get through it and keep on making it clear to her that no extra fun will be had by repeatedly getting up and running downstairs. Also hoping that when nursery goes back next week and she's going 9-12:30 every day she will settle down again.

Wondering how on earth this is going to work when new baby here but also v much looking forward to not being preggo anymore - looked in the mirror this morning and felt furious about the state of my thighs - finally feeling fat not just preg. It's a bugger being short (5ft 1) as there's nowhere for the flab to hide! BFing had better do its thing again.

londonlivvy · 06/04/2015 20:24

I'm feeling really disappointed that peanutella isn't here yet. Dd was here by this point last time. And I've got myself in knots worrying about still births etc, especially given my age (nearly 40) and family history (two cousins have had still births). Must try to keep calm.

I have realised though that my original due date was 14th April and it was changed at the scan to the 8th. So maybe I just need to refocus my thoughts on the 14th.

In the meantime, has anyone any experience of reflexology working to bring on a baby? I genuinely thought she'd be here by now and feeling a bit Hmm

cinnamongreyhound · 06/04/2015 20:40

I've heard lots of positive stories about it LondonLivvy but not tried myself.

Car seat is in, clothes are all washed, bags packed, dh has car park money and he'll pack sandwiches while I'm out with dogs in the morning. Think that's everything ready to go, just hope they have space for me when I call in the morning or I'll be gutted! Don't want to wait around anymore just want to get him out and start finding out what is actually wrong. Anyone any idea if hospitals generally have wifi? Ds1 keeps saying he wants to FaceTime me so he can see me not just talk to me.

BrixtonBunny · 06/04/2015 20:46

Obelia congratulations! I'm sorry you didn't get the birth you were hoping for, and hopefully you get some answers soon. In the meantime enjoy falling in love with your little one!

Daholster that sounds incredibly productive, very jealous of all the parent and PIL DIY power around you. Over the last couple of days we've painted the dining room (finally, it was bare plaster beforehand!) and the loo. Still need to do the hallway and guest bedroom but those can wait for the foreseeable I think. Ditto sorting out the garden (Annia, very jealous of you doing yours!)

Just had DPs cousin and his girlfriend over for early supper, and stuffed my face with butternut squash and ricotta gnocchi, soup and olive bread, and brownie cakes with ice cream. I've been eating like Henry VIII this pregnancy which probably explains why yesterday I found a couple of stretch marks on my thighs Shock Hoping breastfeeding melts all this extra weight off me Hmm

I'm still finding it hard to believe that I'm almost 40 weeks pregnant, I feel like I'm still pretty much able to live life normally (I can even still paint my toe nails!) so thinking it's going to be a shock when baby does turn up.

Still not feeling any twinges, no sign of losing plug etc. Thinking I might be in it for the long haul...

Cinnamon I have no idea re: wifi, sorry. My local hospital has good 3G reception in some areas, so maybe yours will too? Good luck for tomorrow, we'll all be thinking of you. Enjoy your night tonight.

Livvy I've heard good things about reflexology and acupuncture, I think if I go much out my due date I'll see if I can get a last minute appointment. If you try it let me know how you get on! At worst it will be a relaxing waste of money Wink

cinnamon think it depends on the hospital - there is a newish walk-in X-ray centre near us that has it if you ask. I mean they will defo have wifi, obvs, it's more a case of whether they let patients on it.

Hope they have space for you too.

Brixton LOL for Henry VIII eating. By including vegetables you're already improving massively on his diet.

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 06/04/2015 21:09

Good luck tomorrow cinnamon. My hospital has free wifi that you can just log on to as I found out last week!

Due date tomorrow... exciting!

roastpots · 06/04/2015 21:25

Good luck tomorrow cinnamon - will be thinking of you and hoping that the induction goes smoothly.

I'm now 40+5 and ready for the baby to come now. I've had a really lovely weekend with DH and DD1 - lots of walks and time spent with my family and his. But I'm a bit surprised that DH will be going back to work tomorrow - really thought baby would be here and that he'd be on paternity leave by the end of the Easter break. When I had my stretch and sweep last Wednesday she said that I was 2cm dilated and I've been losing bits of plug throughout the weekend. So feeling that things are imminent - but just haven't started. It's a lot simpler being around DH when I might be in labour than worrying about him getting back from work in time - but what will be will be. Another S&S scheduled for Wednesday so perhaps that will do the trick if nothing has happened by then.

We went on a long walk across the fields this afternoon - about 45 mins to a pub and then 45 mins back. It was fine on the way out but on the way back I was really struggling - I'd forgotten it was up hill on the way back and I felt exhausted!

It's lovely to see some birth announcements on the FB page - but the babies do seem to be coming rather quickly! Makes me a bit nervous about getting childcare cover in place for DD when my time comes - my parents are on red alert but they are about 30 mins away. Midwife said just take DD in with us if we need to but I think it might be a bit distressing for her if that happens.

cinnamongreyhound · 06/04/2015 21:28

They had several wifi's pop up when we were at the foetal medicine clinic but all were password protected smogsville but it's kind of at the side of the hospital. Ward is up a few flights so hopefully be better 3G inside BrixtonBunny, still no sure how well FaceTime will work with only 3G. I felt like that with both previous pregnancies, no hurry to have baby and reasonably comfortable. Worked until Friday and had ds2 Monday at 40+13 with no probs.
