We downloaded a white noise app onto our phones and that used to help DD with sleep at night time in the first few weeks. You can put it on a timer for, say, 10 mins which we did so that DH and I didn't have to listen to it all night. Although I think eventually it started sending us off as well!

cinnamongreyhound · 04/04/2015 15:49

Have applied home made prostaglandins to my cervix Easter Wink and will take dogs for a long walk once I've ironed and hope that something will happen! Should be taking a gentle run for the last time with my buddy, if she can walk after doing a muddy obstacle race today and then relaxing at my mums in the afternoon assume nothing has happened.

cinnamongreyhound · 04/04/2015 15:50

And on the noise front, one of my minded little boys who I babysit sometimes has the radio on at bedtime very quietly as that worked for them when he was a baby and they've just stuck with it.

skyra13 · 04/04/2015 16:04

Hello ladies hope you are all well today.
Thank you for all kind words mouth still sore but coping!

Got told a little advice other day to put a hairdryer on if LO is not sleeping as it sounds like they are still is womb has worked wonders for a friend of mine :) her husband ended up recording it and playing it on loop.

I have received our angel sound video monitor from BIL looks very complicated defo a job for DH lol x

RL20 · 04/04/2015 16:18

Hi everyone
Hope you're all having a nice weekend so far.
We had other half's daughter for the night so did the salt dough hand print impression I was talking about yesterday. You could tell it was definitely my first attempt! I put too much water in to begin with so took ages to get the consistency right which should be not sticky at all. I also preheated the oven too early in my opinion so the dough went a browny colour quite early, but then I have remembered that it did say to turn it half way through baking - oops Grin.
We did 2 - one for her mum and one to keep here. However I accidentally broke the better one - it had risen quite a bit whilst still in the oven so I stupidly poked it with my finger so see if it would go down but it had already hardened so it cracked Confused.
Anyway we ended up painting it to cover up the brown, so it wasn't all bad! And it was enjoyable so we'll do another one next weekend I think.
Another idea I've got (because I bought some for her bedroom door before) is to make her name out of salt dough letters, and get some double sided sticky tabs.

Anyway, despite going on the stag do last weekend, other half has gone out tonight to watch a boxing match with a friend from work. Not very happy about it but expecting him back around 10pm.
So instead of staying at my mums I'm going to stay home and wait up for him. Going to chill out tonight I think and have a nice bath, wash my hair etc.

Daholster RE car colour - I know that with a lot of cars you pay more for it in white don't you - is that the case with your new one? And how come you are being made to wait for a 65 reg? I bet it will be lovely! After having a silver car I always wanted a black one, and if not then 100% a dark colour (I'm really funny about car colours!). I got a navy blue one which I love. I currently have silver wheel trims on it which I love as they look a lot like alloys, but if I could afford it I would get black alloys as they look great with a dark blue car!

Ooh Annia - my mum and a relative of my other half's both commented in the same week that my bump looked as though it had dropped, and at the midwife appointment the week just gone, she said that the head was now 2/5ths engaged Grin. So that explained it!

Sorry haven't caught up properly with all the chat, but will probably be able to keep up now Smile.

cinnamongreyhound · 04/04/2015 16:21

Hadn't heard about this but been told twice today so thought I'd share. www.parentdish.co.uk/baby/child-car-seat-confusion-guide-to-the-new-regulations-and-products/

RL20 · 04/04/2015 16:22

Just realised I didn't actually mention much about actual baby talk then!
No plug or anything yet here, just a lot of wriggling quite low down, so maybe he's even more engaged! Still get slight fanny daggers too. Won't know until the week after next though, at my 39 week appointment!

37+5

Lauren82000 · 04/04/2015 16:32

Homemade cinnamon did you dtd or is this some strange practice I haven't heard of yet Grin

No more brown or plug here and just normal baby wiggles with minimal BH so nothing moving from my end. I have been lying around on the couch all day so no walking around or major activity, although I did clean the hob on the oven as it was getting a bit dusty in places and the grease was mounting up. Blush It was one of those 'I really should clean that' thoughts that whizzed out of my mind every time I turned away from it.

Lucyandpoppy · 04/04/2015 16:54

Im not bfing anyway so plan on taking the flucanozole as soon as im in recovery lol! Will be asking at my pre op assesment on tues if that is okay to take with any other meds they might give me. Although i hear that post birth bleeding can clear everything out down there anyway so it might go by itself. daholster ohh thats strange, could be that that is just where it collects upon exit but you would expect to see some in the actual vagina with thrush as thats where the root of the infection is. Could it be a uti?

RL20 · 04/04/2015 16:56

Oh Lauren you have just reminded me that the inside of the oven needs cleaning Confused. I think I've done it properly once or twice in 3 and a half years Blush.
It's such effort!

AnniaFausta · 04/04/2015 17:14

I've just given the water jug a good scrub and a bit of a soak in white vinegar to get rid of the water scale, plus I've cleaned out a kitchen cabinet shelf for sterilising/baby bottle paraphernalia... and now I'm trying to sort out the filing... including activating a bank card that turned up six weeks ago... blush I'm not sure if this is nesting or just bank holiday spring cleaning!

mswibble · 04/04/2015 17:21

Im just eyeing up the living room windows, they are disgracefully filthy! Might have to get the squeegee out. Anything to avoid starting the floor sanding to be honest...the noise, the dust! Aargh!

brummagem · 04/04/2015 17:35

I've just bought a dab radio for next to the cot so I can leave that on low on classic fm or kerrang Easter Grin was considering a mobile but you need to remove them when they can sit unaided and to begin with babies apparently only notice black white then red and the tune is generally so naff so don't see the point in them tbh. I believe I had nothing in the 70s but then had a tape player and used to listen to story books we borrowed from the library. Aaah the memories of Michael Holden reading Chronicles of Narnia and Glenda Jackson reading Secret Garden. Loved them as a child.

Exciting news on car!

I've gone from wanting to clean the house to just organising everything for the baby. Over. And over. And over. Currently the DH is facing my wrath for not vacuuming enough I'm even considering buying him a Dyson. We have 2 cats and a dog and we need to hoover daily. I should groom them daily too but never get round to it. Easter Blush

Missymum6 · 04/04/2015 17:40

Just wanted to say hi on here, due with my second on 26 th August. How are all you ladies doing?

Lauren82000 · 04/04/2015 17:46

RL I have cleaned our oven once in the 5 years we have been in our houseBlush I look at it every time open the oven door and think that needs a clean but then close it again. Out of sight out of mind. In all honesty though it's just the door that needs cleaning I have the grill pan thing in the bottom and regularly change the foil in it.

On other news I just lost a big chunk of plug Shock but I'm off out for my mums birthday so nothing better happen till I get home!

I also found some lip gloss in my drawer and slathered it on. Took me a while to work out why my lips were fizzy but I checked the tube and it's supposed to do that, it's a plumping gloss.

RL20 · 04/04/2015 17:53

Lauren I change the foil on top of the thingy all of the time - just not the foil in the bottom of it Blush. In fact I might even make that a job for in a bit if I can be bothered, and give it a little clean with some dettol wipes while I'm there.
Although aside from cleaning the kitchen, my actual problem is finding a place for the Perfect Prep machine to go (the Tommee Tippee thing that makes up the bottles). We only have a small kitchen and the microwave and quadruple slot toaster take up the room. Hmm.
Ooh plumping lipgloss - from what I can remember it used to make me want to scratch my lips off! Grin

Brummagem I love that - classic fm or kerrang, couldn't get more different! Grin
Good idea on the radio though - may have to look into purchasing one!

Hi missymum6 - congratulations Smile

BananaToast · 04/04/2015 17:59

Ooh jealous of your plug action Lauren! I think I lost a bit of mine a couple of days ago but not entirely sure. I didn't think it was at the time but later looked at photos of plugs on Google and it looked similar. Nothing exciting going on since though.

Now I'm on maternity leave I am massively impatient for things to get going. I thought I'd want a week or two to chill out but actually I'm just excited for it all to kick off. Have done most of my jobs already, all that's left is a full on deep clean of the flat. I'm going to do a few things each day I think - just cleaned the living room windows and despite not looking dirty a surprising (and satisfying) amount of dirt came off them.

Am now sitting on my ball drinking strong raspberry leaf tea in a vain attempt to do something useful baby wise.

37+5 - bound to be weeks left for me yet!

RL20 · 04/04/2015 18:09

Banana I feel the same!
When I get movements low down, I suddenly think I could give birth within days, but then I think, no doubt I will go the 2 weeks over. It's strange knowing I could still have 4 weeks left, and possibly have a May baby.

My plan was to do one room at a time too, but it just hasn't happened, or different things keep cropping up in the room I had already done!
I'm wanting the impossible - to clean and tidy a room and for it to stay that way! Grin.

Wineandchoccy · 04/04/2015 18:09

Been to Primark today and stocked up on some BIG knickers and a couple of nightshirts with buttons for easy access to boobs. I also got a lovely top which I will be able to feed in reduced to £3.
Stocked up on loo roll, washing powder, cat food etc so we won't need to rush to the shops when baby makes an appearance.

We have got pizza for tea and I have 4 bottles of 0% lager to wash it down with Smile

Daholster I would go for the blue BMW, I had a white car and it looked lovely when clean but after a couple of days it looked filthy and dull.

Is it really bad I want it to be Tuesday so DH is back at work and I can start blitzing the house, it feels a waste to be cleaning on Easter weekend and we are both off.

BananaToast · 04/04/2015 18:18

Oh god don't RL! I really don't want to still be pregnant in May!

Wine that's something left on my list actually - stock up on household essentials. Going to buy myself some very nice soft loo roll as well rather than the cheaper stuff we normally end up buying. I also feel the same about not wanting to waste the weekend off together cleaning but wanting to get on with things. DH has said he will help me do some sorting at some point but most cleaning etc will wait til I'm on my own.

daholster · 04/04/2015 18:29

Blue seems to be winning!!! I like both so I might just take your advice!

Dd feels poorly this evening. Lots of cuddles and yet I'm getting shouted at. Apparently her tummy hurts, hopefully its just those glands that will be up in there because of her poorly throat/ear/chest. Poor little thing.

I need to stop painting with the roller. It really hurts my hernias!!!

All wall coats in the new nursery done I think. Now for the woodwork...

Nothing exciting happening baby arrival wise. I think he will stay in til the house is done then arrive the next day like dd did, giving me no time to sit and enjoy it all finished!

cinnamongreyhound · 04/04/2015 18:37

Oven cleaning is a mans job in this house so dh does it Easter Grin

Hi MissyMum6, I assume you mean 26th April?

Yes Lauren82000, if I could make it perhaps I could sell it and make money Easter Wink, was just some run of the mill sperm!

Dogs walked now for a snuggle evening bouncing on my ball, hopefully wth dh rubbing my back Easter Wink

FiRaffe · 04/04/2015 18:46

Keep bouncing cinnamon!!!

Had a fun day with Amazon delivering a whole load of baby bits, furniture coming on Tuesday then baby can arrive in theory!

I'm with you Banana - kinda wanting baby to come now, but have lots of things to do... i've told them they can come after my birthday on the 13th!

BrixtonBunny · 04/04/2015 18:50

Sorry - selfish post, but need to ask a question. Baby has been very, very active the last few hours (and generally more active than usual over the last few data). Loads of big movements. Do you think it's worth calling the midwife? As I don't think these are particularly usual for me... But then again it's probs just because there's no more space in there so I'm feeling the movements even more?

I'm 39+3...
