boo and penguin - thanks for the tips re hospital bags. For bambino I've just packed 5 vests, 5 babygros, scratch mitts, hat, muslins, cellular blanket plus nappies, cotton wool and a tube of the Weleda nappy cream. In my bag I'm still umming and ahhing but will definitely get another pack of huge knickers rather than the disposables. I have to remember that we only live ten mins down the road from the hospital so if I have forgotten anything or suddenly want my fluffy dressing gown I can send OH home for it.

And wowsa that you're back into your pre preggo jeans penguin!

Underwood2013 · 03/04/2015 19:28

Wow penguin - that is brilliant getting back into pre-pregnancy jeans already! I dream of that now - am so tired of these maternity jeans that keep falling down... I swear they are only made to wear until about 7mos prego, not beyond!

Firaffe we're neighbours - I'm in Woking too. Smile

I bought a DIY plaster casting kit for ds and it turned out pretty well so am doing the same for baby 2.0... comes with some pewter coloured paint and a box frame. Plus enough mixture to do the hand / feet a few times if you mess up. Wink

Thanks for the advice on the hospital bag - will be adjusting mine a few times this week - once based on what you ladies have said and then again on Thurs night to remove all labour things like tens machine etc if I make it that long and am going straight to elcs Friday morning... one week and counting!

Hoping the weather is better tomorrow so we can get outside a bit more... ds was going a bit crazy today and this mama could use the help of fresh air to help tire him out!

Happy Friday everyone... Easter Grin

Lauren82000 · 03/04/2015 19:29

Don't forget nappy sacks Mswibbles. Handy for sweet wrappers and tissues as well as dirty nappies. Wink

Just helping DH pick his outfit for the night. He's a right girl, I go to the wardrobe and pick something out and put it on. He ums and arhs about shoes, shirt, pants etc. Now on his 3rd outfit. Shock Least he is going in the car so he can't drink. I so pity him and having to listen to his mates drunken ramblings, but unavoidable it's his mates 30th couldn't not show his face really.

mswibble · 03/04/2015 19:48

Ah fab Lauren , would not have even thought of nappy sacks! Doh!
Is your hubby coming down and giving a twirl in each of the options?! My OH refuses to go shopping by himself and I have to accompany him giving opinions on everything!

Get on Pinterest RL, there are loads of cute crafty things that you can do with baby. I've got a whole board dedicated to Bambinos first Christmas where all grandparents will be receiving all manner of stuff involving babies hand and footprints!

Well I sincerely hope that my bambino stays put for at least another week or so. OH has used his Good Friday as tradition dictates and gone all out on DIY and getting the dining room sorted. Carpet has been ripped up and big plans are being made about filling miniscule gaps in floorboards before sanding and staining! And we too shall be venturing to Ikea at some point...eek!
Currently waiting for our takeaway to arrive, its a mixed grill style concoction from a Persian place we love. Nom nom - I even have a bottle of San Miguel 0% to go with it! Woo!

Lauren82000 · 03/04/2015 19:53

Not quite Mswibbles I had to lie on the bed while he dug around in his wardrobe. But yes he also refuses to go shopping by himself and has to try every single item on despite being the same size for the last 12 years! Me I just pick up my size and buy it. It'll either fit or it won't I hate changing rooms and having to queue to try stuff on. I'd rather just return it if I need too. (Hardly ever do though) Wink

ChickenMe · 03/04/2015 20:07

Good work Penguin re the jeans. My due date is tomor and DD 3wks Sunday and my belly still looks preggo Shock
Yes let us see your play dough exploits RL it sounds quite a good idea! I used to eat that stuff when I was little
Feel kind of sad about my due date. Feel weirdly envious of people who have gone to term! Still hormonal I guess!
Babies epitomise Sod's law. Eg we went to get her registered Weds. I'm about to leave, she fills a nappy then shits over me. Or..Just now she's asleep, I manage to cook dinner, about to serve, DD .. bang-eyes open, cry, i want boob. They know.

Lauren82000 · 03/04/2015 20:20

It won't be long till you have the eating with one hand down. It happens a lot and you get good at balancing them in one arm while munching with the other. Smile Can't help you with the poo though. They gotta go when they gotta go. Wink

AnniaFausta · 03/04/2015 20:24

Well, other than making it to this morning's service, I've had a thoroughly unproductive day - made hot cross buns and got a load of laundry through, and that's about it! DH, on the other hand, has been doing a spot of DIY and getting door handles back onto the upstairs doors (some of you may remember our 'unable to open the door' saga from a few months ago...) and has done some ironing, and even went out and bought curtain rails. And, erm, chocolate biscuits, for which he is wonderful. But I think we're both on for an early night ;)

FiRaffe · 03/04/2015 20:38

You made hot cross buns annia- that's impressive! I can never be bothered with the crosses!

Hehe Underwood - I think there are a few of us around Woking and Guildford.

Chicken - I think that's just kids for you!

cinnamongreyhound · 03/04/2015 20:47

Salt dough is fine as long as you don't get it wet. Then it goes soggy and won't reset.

Yep on the waking and pooing at rubbish times. I had Tesco staff holding ds1 as he screamed while I packed as despite feeding him just before I left and him being reasonably settled in a feeding routine he just woke up and was starving! Being able to cook baby free is pretty good! And yes I dropped dinner on both mine while trying to eat one handedly over the top of them Easter Blush

brummagem · 03/04/2015 20:48

Faure's Requiem done. In Paradisum is so so beautiful it brings me to tears. Just Easter Sunday services to go! Think might do a service by service basis after that.

V tired now. Hope you've all had a quiet and relaxing day.

FiRaffe · 03/04/2015 21:09

Great work brummagem. Sounds like a good idea doing service by service - see how tired you get.

skyra13 · 03/04/2015 21:56

Got an infection around the back tooth got antibiotics, dear lord I hope they start to work soon I feel miserable Paracetamol better start working! x

cinnamongreyhound · 03/04/2015 22:03

Rubbish skyra13 but glad you've got treatment. Dh always says the closer to your head pain is the harder is it to cope with so tooth ache is pretty much the worst. Let's hope it's cleared up before you have to start pushing Easter SmileFlowers

FiRaffe · 03/04/2015 22:23

Hope you feel better soon skyra.

skyra13 · 03/04/2015 22:26

Thanks ladies I think your husband is right I hate this ain just does not go away :(
Little one is jumping around like a loony as well lol x

PenguinPoser · 04/04/2015 00:31

Ah skyra hope the infection improves ASAP!

Chicken I totally agree they know!! I'm slowly adapting to doing everything one handed and covering dd with a muslin to prevent drips on her when eating! She got hot cross bun crumbs all over her this morning Blush

As predicted my day did get worse with dd having thrush in her mouth and me on nipples Sad thanks to those on FB group for advice. Feels like a setback but will try and plod on!

Hoping she drops off to sleep with this feed. Wishing peaceful nights to all!

daholster · 04/04/2015 00:57

Oh no penguin with the thrush! Make sure you have the right stuff, oral for her and the cream for you and he religious and for a week after its all gone, mine was never treated properly and became a nightmare!!! I wasn't with it enough to engage bring when she was first diagnosed and no-one gave me the nipple bit and I didn't ask... By the time someone at the breastfeeding group realised I'd had it nearly 3 weeks and it was awful, but had to wait til dd was6 weeks old to be able to take tablets for me... And she could switch to miconazole too, then suddenly breastfeeding was like a dream!!! So glad you have caught it now, just make sure you treat it properly first time Smile Hopefully when it is better it will all feels lot easier. Its so rewarding when it finally clicks and doesn't hurt the whole time!!!

skyra hugs you poor thing.

underwood I'm in Fleet!

Its late but feel like we have achieved a lot today. Will maybe put down deposit on car tomorrow. Shock

Dh will do IKEA on Tuesday instead... Phew...

Very uncomfy full or high up baby and heart burn and back prodding pain!!! Get back down cheeky baby! I don't think he likes painting...

Ooh look, 38+4! Best try and sleep! Night night!

Lucyandpoppy · 04/04/2015 01:53

Spent 10:30pm-2:30am last night in day assesment unit at the hospital went in because of back pain and fever and suspected an infection. Urine sample, bp monitering, ctg machine monitering for baby, an internal exam and belly being poked and prodded later decided that I have a uti and sent home with antibiotics. This will be my third course this pregnancy! 10 days and counting until csec! And coming down with a cold so hoping that will clear before then too.

Lucyandpoppy · 04/04/2015 01:54

36+4

Nunkie · 04/04/2015 03:36

firaffe and underwood, another local here, I'm in Guildford :0)

Sorry you had a crap day of being prodded lucyandpoppy - utis are no fun!

Re hospital bags: a couple of minor things I found really useful:
Fanny Beaker - any small vessel for pouring water over your sore bits as you pee, post birth!
Moist Arse Wipes (or 'Andrex washlets' as the more civilised may call them! - maybe it's just me but I can't live without the things, esp given the state of my butthole. Very soothing and cleaning!

Sigh.
Eva is a perfectly happy baby until you do anything that involves you putting her down at night (yet she is okay being settled into her hammock or cot during the day)

I thought newborns weren't supposed to be able to tell the difference between night and day, otherwise I'd be speculating that it's some leftover evolutionary thing where they think they've been abandoned to the wolves or something! Confused

FiRaffe · 04/04/2015 07:23

Oh dear Nunkie. I remember reading somewhere about teaching babies the difference between night and day so obviously something needed but not sure what. Is it because it's dark? hope you sort something.

Amazon are supposed to be delivering today but we need to go out.. The estimated date was Tuesday when I ordered which was fine, but I guess it'll be nice to have all the bits early. I seem to be forcing myself to stay awake incase they arrive, but will probably be once we've had to go out!

PenguinPoser · 04/04/2015 08:00

I second what Nunkie said about the moist toilet wipes. Anything to make that a more bearable experience!
Also Nunkie yes I think my dd feels abandoned at night too. We think having the TV on low in the background helps settle her. Or talking to her - sure I've spent half the night saying 'night night dd, mummy and daddy are here we love you!' On repeat!

Thanks Daholster- we are picking up her prescription for nystatin this morning (stupid bank holiday yesterday meaning no chemist after 6! Not like I live in the sticks either!!!) and I have some cream so hope we can crack it ASAP. Thankfully she is still feeding ok touch wood.

Lucy hope you're feeding better now you're on the abx.

We are going visiting some family again today then plan on spending the rest of the weekend at home snuggling skin to skin feeding and napping. That's the plan anyway!

FiRaffe · 04/04/2015 08:09

That sounds lovely Penguin! Must be lovely to have a long weekend all together to enjoy being a family!
