Thanks chook haven't seen any 'vests' with poppers online, are they just like a normal vest and no poppers? Thanks re the pad advice too.
apple thanks for advice re pads

Am starting to think I ought to get my arse in gear and start getting some stuff but at same time haven't got anywhere to put as house is still a tip where we have started sorting and then other stuff has happened which has stopped the sorting grrr

Horrible weather predicted today and tomorrow so think it will be a day inside again and try to finish off this coursework!!

KittyVonCatsington · 29/03/2015 10:39

Oh my goodness shiny - can't believe you may be in pre-term labour. How was last night? Any developments? XXXX

Someone get me off Amazon!!!!!! My wish list has suddenly grown massively - eek!!! All full of 'little' things such as bed sheets and breast pads etc but it all adds up...
Ho hum!!!!

Justyouwaitandsee · 29/03/2015 10:43

Hi ladies,

Thanks for sharing your story plinky - it sounds like such a scary time, and amazing to think it was the car accident which helped to pick up the preclampsia signs. You are doing so well and being so strong!

I am another one grateful for your hospital bag guidance - inspired me to get mine sorted today! How many nappies, wipes, maternity pads are people planning to take? I wondering about putting a reasonable number in the bag but stashing some extra supplies in the car boot in case our stay is longer than anticipated (we are aiming for a natural birth and the local hospital aims for a 6-12hr discharge time, which seems very quick?!)

Thinking of you Shiny - hoping you and baby manage to hang on in there even a little bit longer! Flowers

Turquoisetamborine · 29/03/2015 10:50

Shiny hope it's a false alarm. At least you've had the steroid jabs so baby's lungs will be more prepared if you are going to give birth early.
plinky Thankyou for your account of what happened to you. I hope you get Emily home soon and she continues to thrive. You've been through such a lot. I didn't have day 3 baby blues but good for others to be aware in case it happens.
We've been on the go since 7am this morning sorting the trampoline out which was damaged in the wind, clearing drains out and DS has just blocked one of the toilets! I'm so glad I'm not a man today, those are all not jobs for a pregnant woman!!
Going to the hospital for 2pm to visit mam who has apparently really improved since I last saw her on Thursday. Then taking MIL out for a meal. She was most put out that we haven't been to see her to spoil her for Mother's Day. She didn't think three hospital admissions for me in a fortnight and my mother being seriously ill was much of an excuse!! She's so self obsessed. I'll have no patience for her today.
I was supposed to be at a wedding yesterday but had to leave after the church part as I was having pains either side of my bump. I needed to rest I think.
Have a lovely day everyone.

Chookford · 29/03/2015 11:28

smiley yes the vests come with poppers at the bottom for ease of removal/putting on... I got mine from mothercare.

kitty don't worry about your list, it will only get bigger!! Smile

turquoise sounds like you have had a busy day already! Hope you manage to enjoy your meal out with MIL... Just switch off and don't listen to anything she says!! Wink

Titsalinabumsquash · 29/03/2015 13:24

I'm in a bloody awful mood today Blush

DP sprung it on me that he was working today again the ,sat 3 weekends have all been "the last weekend, I promise" and I'm getting pretty pissed off with it, I haven't got a bag packed or the cot sorted and I'm really starting to worry this baby won't hang on for induction! I'm getting more and more pains as the days go on and every movement from with me or baby causes me agony, all I can feel is limbs battering me and it's setting off my irritable uterus to contract every time.

I'm bloody tired from waking up with it combined with DP's snoring, farting and fucking phone alarm.

I've got all 3 kids to entertain for 2 weeks now because they're off school right up until the day I go in for my induction.

I am thoroughly miffed. HmmAngry

Aw tits you sound up to your eyes in it. Bloody men sometimes!

I've got a cold and terrible hb today so taking it easy. OH is busy cleaning round me and I feel guilty! He's giving me the 'aren't I good -praise me' looks and I'm thinking 'I do it all the bloody time and don't get any praise!' He does it once in a blue moon and we're supposed to get a fanfare out!

Any clubs you put the kids in for a few days?

Jenni2legs · 29/03/2015 15:15

Wow I feel so behind on the threads, but finished work this week, so can get back into reading it Grin
DH is currently applying for a job in Newcastle, as that's where I am from and want to get back to my mum. So pleased he's up for moving, even though it's going to be a massive pay cut for him.

Justyouwaitandsee · 29/03/2015 15:35

Thanks for the tip off about nectar points - just back home with £40 worth of bulk buy nappies, wet wipes and cotton wool pads Grin
Planning to spend the rest of the afternoon packing my hospital bag.

We've also bought grout and other materials for the bathroom tiler to start tomorrow. Makes me laugh how it just seems to be one decision after another at the moment. We spent so long discussing different colours of grey grout, I am going to force people to stop and admire! Wink DH also fitted the new radiator in the baby's room yesterday, so another job done.

leanne963 · 29/03/2015 15:45

Oh turquoise i think we have had the MIL talks before ha! Hard work?? She does sound a little demanding but i completely sympathise! I tried so hard to organise a meal with my Mum and her husband and my partners parents but my mother in law cancelled 2 hours before cause she 'hurt her knee' (She does nothing and doesn't work) then i get told a few days later that she had booked a table at a restaurant the following weekend even though i had already made plans but i HAD to cancel. Then when we get there she says 'Oh it's so hard to organise a get together these days' Angry

Tits So sorry, you really don't sound like you are having much fun at the moment :( You only have two weeks to go don't you? I completely sympathise with the farting......i hate hate hate it....

I think i am crazy as DP and i are considering moving soon :/ We moved to Gloucester so i can go to Uni and as i finish in May there is no reason for me to be here. All my family and friends live in Bristol so i think with a baby i could like the support around me, but house prices and rent are so much more expensive in Bristol. I would feel bad DP paying an extra £200 - £300 a month on rent for exactly the same size house as we have now! I am seriously weighing up what is more important, the extra money or being close to family and friends ahhhh

Scottishgal78 · 29/03/2015 16:16

Leanne what are your plans for childcare? If family or friends could help instead of nursery the cost could offset itself.

leanne963 · 29/03/2015 16:28

Scottish We are quite lucky that i have no ties to go back to work as i am currently finishing my degree and my partner works from home so would have the baby for a few hours if i needed to work so we wouldn't probably consider childcare until she was a few years old! But it would be nice cause her cousin will be born 4 weeks before her and i always had a very close family environment growing up and have great relationships with my aunties and cousins and i would love for her to have the same!

applecore0317 · 29/03/2015 17:06

Sorry you're having a bad day tits is there anyone up for taking the kids off your hand for a couple of the days? have you got a MW or consultant appointment coming up? might be worth taking your DH along and getting them to remind him that he needs to be around a bit more?

hope you feel better scottish

That's great that you are getting all the bitsfinished off justyou

leanne althought it will be more expensive you need to weigh the cost with the benefits of having family close by. For us it's a massive benefit as my newest cousin is just one and two of the others are three. So lots of littluns in the family for ours to have around, so I am making the most of it

Have had a productive day, washed all the baby bits for my hospital bag and ironed some of them. Sorted out the steriliser and adjusted some clothes so they fit better :) and I've also had a mini magnum and a slice of New York cheesecake Grin

leanne963 · 29/03/2015 17:11

Ooooh apple i need to get organised! Is the steriliser the bottles?! I didn't know i had to take bottles if i was planning to BF!? I feel so clueless ha! Yea i do think that i would be happier being closer to family and i could help out with rent with my child tax credits that i might be able to get!? I am still holding out on winning the lottery one day ha!

KittyVonCatsington · 29/03/2015 17:19

jenni That's nice of your husband! It may be a pay cut but hopefully lower living costs might balance that?

Just It's all systems go to get some things finished in time isn't it-well done on the grouting!

Leanne Your MiL does it for the attention that's for sure! That and I think some get a little bit selfish when they have been retired for a while (not all mind!) My MiL has't worked since she was 48 (was a part time bank cashier) and yet always moans when she has to do something other than play golf or bridge. She also won't go to restaurants and will only host dinners at hers-her cooking is dire-she over cooks everything Grin Sorry moan over-I'm sure Baby will love her as a Grandma!

Scottish -hope you feel better too xx

Am getting DH to get all of our donated baby clothes down from the loft tomorrow-can't wait to wash them and start putting them away all ready Smile Star

Jenni2legs · 29/03/2015 17:39

Thanks Kitty, we are just in Sheffield at the moment so rent, etc will be similar. I am one of seven so I just miss my family.

Leanne we are going to try to move for the quality of life, sounds like yours will be better closer to home too, hope you get there :)

Justyouwaitandsee · 29/03/2015 17:50

Thanks everyone. The new radiator just started leaking...so frustrating and feel so sorry for DH when he is working so hard and I can't do very much to help Sad

Have tidied the kitchen and the bedroom but it is a nightmare trying to keep on top of all the dust and general mess which keeps accumulating. Having a break before I find another area to focus on.

leanne I put the breast pump parts in it and some small bottles as am hoping that in my little ideal mind the baby will happily breast feed and also have expressed milk from the bottle so DH can be part of feeding her occasionally too.

jenni that's lovely of your DH to move to be nearer to your family :)

tori rats, eeeek am terrified of them lol, I went to pick up a new chinchilla years ago now and there were rats in the cage behind me, I just froze and focussed on the chins, such a wimp ha ha, My DH loves them though

leanne963 · 29/03/2015 18:36

Kitty Yeah i am sure MIL will be the best grandma cause she will probably give her all the treats i tell her she cant have at home lol

Jenni Being away from my family never bothered me before but my mindset has completely changed since being pregnant, good luck with your move too :D

Just That is so annoying :( Seems like everything always happens at the worst time!

Tori I have a few friends who have rats and they are very good pets and actually alot cleaner that people tend to realise!

Ahhh apple I don't have a pump yet, but if i can BF i want one so DP can help too, but the really good ones are quite expensive and i don't want to waste money if i cant BF, so im in a bit of a dilemma!

SmileyScooby · 29/03/2015 19:40

shiny hope you doing ok since yesterday

turquoise sorry to hear you've got MIL troubles on top of everything else you've been going through

tits sorry to hear you are having a rubbish day, hope the evening is better

scottish I know what you mean about hubby wanting praise....mine ran the hoover around the lounge (and the lounge only...) and expected some gratitude...

just oh no re the leaky radiator, hope it hasn't caused much damage? I hate water when it comes to problems - both plumbing and rain as its one of the things that is difficult to control. Whenever it rains I'm listening out as our roof isn't great and leaks sometimes :(
I can't wait until I am off and can clean properly (bit at time) as am fed up of dust everywhere, I clean the bathroom and within a week it looks dusty...have tried having windows open and everything but no joy.

tori sorry to hear you've been upset today :( where have you got nighties and pjs from? I'm trying to find some nice looking ones with buttons or poppers for BF but the ones I've found look granny like!! Am thinking if just wearing nursing vest tops in bed with thin joggers/pj bottoms if I can't find anything.

leanne I'm in the same predicament as you, want to BF but if can't will try and express (also like apple said would like to do both if possible so DH can be involved). Am going to get a manual pump to try out to start with as they are a lot cheaper.

Just wondering what bottle make are people going for? I'm thinking either avent or tomme tipie as have seen their teats etc in our local supermarkets but am clueless!! Also are people getting sterilisers that go in microwave or the machine ones?

My little man is in an awkward position at the mo and can't find a comfortable position to sit/lay in as he feels very forward so pressure at front of pelvis/almost fanny dagger pain when I go to sit in certain positions grrr so glad only got 4 days left of official work, then will be a case of doing final marking/reports from sofa with programmes I want to watch on tv :)

I got given my medela electric breast pump by my Aunty, so was lucky there

I got a tommee tippee electric sterliser starter kit, was half price. Came with four bottles, bottle brush, formula tubs and randomly a pacifier .

bottles I have some medela ones cause of the pump, but realised I had the wrong teets, got medium flow. I also bought Tommee tippee bottles because they were on offer.
