Just a quickie (do I always say that?!) to say commiserations to all feeling yucky or whose DCs are feeling yucky.

Had another scan today, and aparently the baby is big - dunno if that's good or bad? Anyway, I guess it's good for now and it was great to see it wriggling about. My placenta is anterior so that will explain why I haven't felt any movements yet as it's certainly active! The main reason for getting scanned was to measure my cervix which aparently is good - they'll measure again in 6 weeks time to see if it's got thinner so they can asses the risk of preterm delivery (I gave birth at 33 weeks last time).

Great news about the triple test Bugmum - you deserve some good luck after all the mess ups!

It's chilly here today, and our spare room where I am now is SOOO cold (it's an extension). Rather worries me as we may need to use it as a bedroom come April - hmmmmmm.

Hi everyone, hope you're all OK.
Liath, your daughter is very cute!

Sexonlegs · 02/11/2006 20:01

Hiya all.
Just coming on for a mo, as am feeling really down. DH started a new job yesterday which has meant quite a change. Were spoilt before with him working from home Mon/Tues, abroad Wed and Thurs and free on a Friday to look after dd. Finding it v hard to deal with, ad I know this is exactly what everyone else has to deal with in terms of dp/dh working hours.
Feel exhausted as well, and generally feeling sorry for myself. Now worrying about having number 2 and being put under more stress.
Sorry to go on.
Have a good evening all. xx

Tili · 02/11/2006 21:31

hi everyone,

Sorry to hear you so down SOL.It may just be that you will feel out of sorts until you get used to this new routine.
I worry about number 2 coming along and coping withh dd too,as my dh works weird hours and always gets called in to sort things out usually at the most inconvieniant time!.They even call him when he has booked time off!
Hope you feel much better soon sweetie take care xx

Sexonlegs · 02/11/2006 21:35

Hi Tili, thank you. I know I am being irrational and it is early days. And I know many people whose dh/dp works away for weeks at a time. As I say, we have been lucky and I just need to deal with things.
Hope you are doing well. xx

Bugmum · 02/11/2006 21:45

Sexonlegs - I don't think it matters that others have to cope with long hours etc: the point is, you had a routine that suited your family, and now you are having to get used to lots of changes at once, which has got to be hard. So don't add to it by being hard on yourself! You have a right to feel miserable about the changes, and to allow yourself a period of adjustment. Hope you feel better soon

CornflakeKid · 03/11/2006 09:54

Morning everyone

Have a day off as ds2 has dodgy tummy - seems fine in himself - but not allowed to pre-school within 48 hours so get to faff about at home and maybe sneak a trip into the nursery shop - he might go to sleep in the car too! Will do some cleaning too - need to do some hoovering and washing.

SOL - hope you and dd get lots of extra hugs.

WCL - your holiday sounded great - everyone keeps saying I look pale - must get some of that summer body glow stuff to accentuate my 'bloom' (not!)

Must go do stuff - will catch up later xoxoxoxo

CornflakeKid · 03/11/2006 09:56

And - have got really achy pelvis/lower back - have done some pelvic tilts - but think may either be posture or just everything stretching. Had mild SPD last time - prayig don't get it again.

twinkle183 · 03/11/2006 10:02

Morning girls!!

Had a good time at the cinema last night - they wait on you it was great... sat in a two seater leather sofa - talk about luxury Not sure about that Borat film though, second half of it is abit weird!!!

Sexonlegs - I think your not the only one worrying about whether you are going to cope while dh is away!! I know that I am worried - as my partner is in the Navy and is constantly set away.. next year he goes away for 3-6 months!!! I think once you have a routine in place your be fine... just takes abit of getting use to is all!!!

runnyhabbit · 03/11/2006 10:24

Morning all

Twinkle - I want to go to a cinema like that, it sounds fab

Agree with twinkle about the coping thing. I take my hat off to those whose dh/dp work away. My mum & dad have been married for over 30 years, and my dad still works away and only comes home on weekends (though not too long til he retires) I wonder how on earth she does it. But it looks like history is starting to repeat itself with me & dh. If he's not working a long day (6am-10pm), then he's away for the night.

Never mind, my mum coped wonderfully, and as we all know, mums are the best thing since sliced bread

muminamini · 03/11/2006 10:38

Hi everyone

1b3 - was so pleased about your news - one of each - fantastic!!!

SOL - I hope you are ok, I think it's hard to adjust to any change in working pattern but even worse when you are pregnant. Hang in there honey...you will cope and in a few weeks it will settle into a routine again I'm sure. Thinking of you.

Laith - your little girl is edible!

I heard my baby for the first time yesterday...I am really lucky working at my Doctors as the midwife was asking me how I was yesterday and asked if I had heard the heart beat yet...when I said no she whipped me in and gave me a check up. I was really pleased as otherwise the next midwife appt would have been at 28 weeks (see the consultant after the 20 wk scan)and that seemed like an eternity to wait. It took her ages to find the heartbeat and I was starting to worry but then we heard it - it was lovley and a big relief. I do feel extremley lucky to work in contact with Doctors, Nurses and Midwives who are all really lovley and seem very protective of me. Our GP came diving in to see if there was anything wrong when my collegue had told her I was in with the midwife. It's really good to know there is reassurance there if I need it.

CD - guess what!? After posting th e other day DS has just decided to poo on the potty!!! I was delighted - I think we have cracked it as he has done a few now - hurray. My advice to anyone considering potty training is wait till they are telling you when they do a wee etc in the nappy. Just leave the potty about so it is not a foreign object. I then went out and we chose some "Big Boy Thomas The Tank Engine pants" and when he got up one day I told him that the nappies were gone and he wore pants now and did wee wees etc on the potty. I tried not to pressure him and constantly nag (hard at first) but within 2 days he got the hang of it and now 3 weeks in he is totally dry int he day and is now pooing on it too. All kids are different, I think if you try it and it doesn't seem to be the right time just stop and try again in a few months time.

Looking forward to weekend - having a fireworks party for DS and having family round for big chilli and jacket pots YUM!
Best get on - need to finish the ironing and get ready for work

Take care

MIAM 16 WEEKS TODAY :-)

zazas · 03/11/2006 10:43

Morning All. Sorry that you are feeling a bit unsettled Sexonlegs re your DH's new work routine. It will take time to adjust so don't be hard on yourself especially at the moment. By the time No2 comes along you will have sorted out a routine that works I am sure. I seem to find changes tricky at the moment even mild ones - like when DP comes home early from work and puts my after school routine with the DC out!!

I think I have finally passed the MS stage at 17w3 days - yiphee! I can't tell you how happy that makes me feel as it has been so miserable. Having said that heartburn has kicked in but I will take that over MS any day!

Started a yoga course for pregnant woman this week - really enjoyable although it is mostly concentrating on breathing. As I have managed to miss out on any ante-natal classes with my previous two babies this might actually help me not to panic while in labour - fingers crossed.

Cornflake KId - my lower back / pelvis hurt for the first time walking to work... might just be this stage of pregnancy and I haven't suffered from SPD before - hope your DS feels better.

CaptainDippy · 03/11/2006 11:00

Hi guys - Feeling today, don't know why - just one of those days, I guess!

Great news about the tests Bugmum - What a relief!

Anyway - poor you SOL, it is horrid when what you are used to changes, isn't it!!? Esp when you have little ones - I DO understand how you feel sweetheart and send you lots of fellow PG woman [[[hugs]]

Hope your DS' dodgy tummy gets better soon, Cornflake - and your achy pelvis / lower back. I am getting v.bad sharp pains all across my abdomen (between my hip bones) when I stand up after sitting down for a while - Is anyone else experiencing this??

Glad you enjoyed the cinema / leather seats Twinkle honey!!

MIAM - My DD did a poo on the potty yesterday too!!! I left to her own devices, potty close by, and she just did it!! It made up for the 6 accidents she went on to have yesterday morning - No accidents at nursery yesterday afternoon though and none this morning, which is good! Getting there .... s...l....o...w...l....y!!

Zazas - Hurrah for MS going - hope it continues honey - That is great news!!

Going to take a deep breath, hold my head up and try and shake this .....

Sexonlegs · 03/11/2006 11:43

Hiya lovely ladies, and thank you so much for your kind posts. I really appreciate them. I know it will take time to adjust, and in the meantime, I just need to get on with it. I think it is just hormones, and a bit of insecurity. Also, dd is being a pain in the butt at the moment. I am sure she is like all other 3 1/2 years old - refusing to do things/not listening/doing things she has been asked not to etc., but I just find it so wearing. And of course now that dh is not around v much, I am having to deal with it more. Hey ho.
Anyway, it's a new day and it's nearly the weekend - hurrah!
Twinkle, your evening sounded great!
CFK, hope your dd's tummy gets better.
Zaza's glad to hear the ms has gone.
MIAM - delighted to hear about ds's potty success. How is dh doing???!!!
CD, sorry to hear you are having a blue day. Is there anything in particular that you are dwn about? Big hugs to you.
And to everyone. xxxxx

CaptainDippy · 03/11/2006 13:08

Nothing in particular,I think SOL, just knackered and DD's are v.exhausting and demanding - can't occupy themselves fo ten seconds - always coming after me, whinging - Wanting to know what is going on with our new house, wanting to get a job - various things just pushing together to make me feel a bit , iykwim!?

Hopefully going roundto a friends soon, defintely needing to get out of the house .....

Sexonlegs · 03/11/2006 13:16

Oh CD, big hugs to you. I was feeling the same yesterday. DD is driving me insane with her inability to be on her own for 2 minutes - cannot even go to the loo without a call of "mummy"!! Can you try and have a break from them?
I know I need one from mine!!
xx

CaptainDippy · 03/11/2006 14:23

I wish - no one to have them!

CornflakeKid · 03/11/2006 14:31

SOL whenever I try to do anything ds's are there - they are a bit bigger now so I tell them to go away and find some toys or that mummy is having time out! Locking myself in the bathroom is always a winner but they stand outside rattling the handle - which drives me nuts - not sure which is worse!

My breathing & relaxtion classes start next sunday - it says I need a yoga or pilates mat - do you think a camping mat will do - or are the proper ones better in some way??? I also need to take a pillow and blanket - get the feeling that may be in for a snooze!

Took ds2 to nursery shop and he did sleep all the way through it - wasn't very inspired and have promised not to buy anything til after xmas! John Lewis def had better stuff anyway.

Does anyone else plan to use cloth nappies? Or already have some from earlier ones? I have used cloth on both ds's and know quite a bit about them - but there is a money back scheme here and I could get some more for very little money - but there is so much choice even for an addict! Thinking about some clwt twt or weenotions or something like that - that can use with wraps already have - anyone tried these two?

Supposed to be going to a party tonight - dh has said would rather not go - too tired - so may pop in at the very beginning and just stay for a quick drink. Starts at 8pm - so all depends whether is awake!

A new farm shop has opened nearby - we already have one in the opposite direction - but this one sells organic meat & veg, loads of non pg cheese and big wine section! Have bought a pork joint for sunday, some bacon and stir fry beef to see how compares to the other place. Also some elderflower cordial which have been craving for a while.

I am desperate to start my nursery - organise everything into drawers etc etc - bit early for nesting though!

Have decided on the name Erin if it is a girl...

Sexonlegs · 03/11/2006 15:11

CFK, your local shop sounds lovely. Quite inspiring.
The relaxation classes sound fab as well. I would of thought a camping mat would have been fine. A mats a mat!
Hope you enjoy the party if you do go. I can't wait to get home and crash out!
15 weeks tomorrow and still knackered - when is the blooming stage going to be here!!??

nuttygirl · 03/11/2006 15:58

CD - hope things are looking upfor you. hugs!

CFK - Ooh Erin is a nice name...DH & I can't decide on a girl's name (well we like Esme Grace but his mother keeps pronouncing it wrong and also Helena but his dad pronounces that wrong) for a boy we've decided on Joshua Reuben.

Has anyone else picked names yet???? I'm all excited and even bought some nappies yesterday!!! (ok so it was cos i got a voucher from Boots and didn't want to miss out on the free bag...but I can't stop buying stuff!!!!)

Shouted at DH at lunchtime cos he told me to make Jacket Potato for him (he doesn't have time to make it in his lunchbreak) but the smell makes me sick. Hence I've had no lunch and just about chucked up in the kitchen bin....again . Doesn't help that I was in a mood cos MIL from hell was a snobby cow last night telling my DH I'm lazy cos I'm not going to work when I've had baby (err...not sure what she expects me to do with baby....there's no-one else to look after it and we couldn't afford a nanny ). - off to post on relationship thread!!!

Tili · 03/11/2006 16:06

Afternoon all!

You seem a little brighter today SOL.Everything will be fine it just takes time the pg hormones dont help matters either though.

I can also sympathise with a dd who never listens I feel like a parrot half the time. One particular afternoon she had really worn me down I was so sick of asking her a million times to stop messing about I went to the top of the stairs and screamed WOW WHO LEFT ALL THIS CHOCOLATE HERE!!
So naturally she shot upstairs like abullet saying "where? where?" and I said to her knowhere just checking your ears are still working
She wasnt amused but it did the trick for the rest of the day!!

CornflakeKid · 03/11/2006 16:42

I'm not going back to work either - childcare too high to make it worthwhile - also think will have hands full enough with 3 of them!

My boss patted my tummy yesterday - the first time in 3 pregnancies that someone has done it - she was just being motherly - not sure if I growled at her though as she instantly apologised!

Have just bought pregnancy & birth to browse through til boys bedtime - dh made tea last night so just going to ping it et voila! My dh being very good at the moment. But he does go through weird phases of telling me I'm lazy and never do anything then says put your feet up/don't overdo it - I think sometimes he just has had enough too!

Will take camping mat - thanks!

With boys names dh won't have any biblical ones - so that limits us slightly! Really tough... maybe wait til scan before start taxing my brain!

nuttygirl · 03/11/2006 16:49

CFK - my DH wasn't too sure about biblical names either, mainly because he used to be v religious (before we met) and now is a bit disillusioned with all that!!! but he couldn't resist Joshua (cos it makes him think of bouncy babies, apparently!!! ). Also like Reuben cos it's a bit unusual and also the name of the first band we ever saw together, we would have liked it as a first name but surname starts with R too so sounded a bit odd.

emmymummy · 03/11/2006 16:52

CFK - thought I'd just stick my oar in on the yoga mat issue - I used to do loads of yoga and proper yoga mats are kind of sticky. This means that when you're doing the yoga moves and postures the mat does not slip around on the floor and also that you do not slip around on the mat! This is particularly important if you're down on your hands and feet with your bum in the air (downwards facing dog, don't you know) for example, as a non-sticky mat makes it even harder work than it already is.

Sorry if that's not what you want to hear. If it's any help at all, I do have a spare mat which I would happily give you, or you can get them quite cheaply in Tescos (I got my spare one with a Tescos yoga ball set thingy that was really reasonable). Alternatively, wait til the classes start and see if you really do need a sticky mat.

CaptainDippy · 03/11/2006 17:01

Tili - PMSL @ Choc comment - Nice one!!

Feeling a bit brighter - DH making tea, so just thought I'd pop in to say "hi!" - Off to Book Group tonight - always good cos they always have the yummiest biccies!!

Gosh - I think about food at the darn time atm....

Dh & I are church going Christians and we decided we'd either go for all Biblical names or all non-Biblical names, if that makes sense!!? We decided to go for non-Biblical cos I'm a bit sick of all the Christian families I meet with children called Jacob, Joshua, Ruth, Hannah, Esther, Kezziah etc etc - Not that they aren't beautiful names, cos they are, but it gets a wee bit samey in the circles I mix in, iykwim!!!?

So there you go .......
