All advice very welcome! Slipping off my mat, falling over and looking like a dunce definitely mean can buy a proper mat - will go and have a look and see if they are sticky or ask for one on freecycle!

CornflakeKid · 03/11/2006 17:09

There is a long sleeved top on www.nappyhead.co.uk which says 'DO NOT TOUCH THE BUMP'

tee hee!

nuttygirl · 03/11/2006 17:21

CD - you're sounding a bit happier now . Have fun at the book group..shame we can't have biccies on MN!

I'm off to bonfire & firework display with DH and one of his mates tonight...meant to get some sparklers but I forgot! oops...nm...I'm just looking forward to a hot dog from a greasy burger bar (so much for eating healthily while pg )

Bugmum · 03/11/2006 17:40

Since deciding that this week, I wouldn't have loads of crap eaty treats, I've had lunch out with pud, bought ready meal stuff from M&S (neither of which I could afford), eaten umpteen bics, and now I've stopped at Sanisbury's on the way home to stock up on crisps, dip and other 'easy tea' treats for tonight. I should never make resolutions - always makes me worse. Plus I crave Branston Pickle (why? why??), am having it with everything, and consequently have the most awful heartburn. Sigh. Munch.

CaptainDippy · 03/11/2006 17:59

Munch indeed.

Munch.

CaptainDippy · 03/11/2006 18:00

lol

Think we should all get one ......

emmymummy · 03/11/2006 18:06

Yay! Love it CD!

Sexonlegs · 03/11/2006 18:23

Tili, lol at the chocolate tease! I might try that one, tho I think dd won't get it.
CD, you sound much happier, which is great.
I am struggling with names. We thought Joshua too, as I am sure the night I conceived I had chicken rogon josh! Like Daniel, Adam and Matthew too.
Girls names I love the name Lola and have done for ages and Katie.
Decisions decisions!!
Hope all are well tonight and enjoy the fireworks. Dd is petrified of them, so we won't be going!
Hugs to all of you lovely ladies. xx

CaptainDippy · 03/11/2006 19:03

Both DD's are petrified too, may be next year .....??

LOL @ Rogan Josh!

CornflakeKid · 03/11/2006 19:36

Well done CD on the pic - I have no idea how to link anything or even do emoticons! They have a long sleeve one aswell - but I do like the pink!

I have got a yoga mat off freecycle - collecting in morning - I do love freecycle!

Party in 1/2 hour - have decided to get changed - and go for quick sociable drink then home to bed by 9pm!

Are we now allowed to use aromatherapy bath oil - a friend has given me som Neals Yard Orange & Geranium bath oil to cheer me up and it smells lush but not sure if allowed to use???

After spending a week with my parents last week in half term my mum has decided it is time to visit already and is coming on sunday - despite having plans for sunday night, monday morning, monday night and tuesday night! Tried to dissuade her but she had obviously made up her mind she was coming before she rang. Wanted me to take her to Ikea monday night (doesn't like driving in the dark) - errrr sorry - pta meeting and if not, fast asleep! And tbh could not think of anything worse than putting the boys to bed then driving all way to Bristol to walk around Ikea with her - she is the WORST shopper in the whole world - everything always overpriced/ what do you need that for blah blah - it is torture!

Must go get changed and wrap pressie!

emmymummy · 04/11/2006 08:43

Well done CFK on the yoga mat. Signed up for Freecycle the other night but have just realised that I have forgotten my login id already . Derr. What a silly moo I am.

DH is working all weekend so I've got to try to keep dd entertained. So far this morning she has not stopped talking. Why do 4 year olds have to describe every single little thing they are doing, have done or are about to do in the most minute detail? And why do they ask SO many questions non-stop? Completely doing my head in at the moment, so have just sent her off to watch TV so I can get some peace for a minute! Bad mummy!

We're going to the cinema this afternoon as that involves minimal effort and I can just sit and zone out (to see Barnyard - anyone seen it? - why do the bulls have udders?).

Sexonlegs · 04/11/2006 09:00

Oh emmy, I know how you feel. I am finding my dd asking a million questions - usually the same one over and over again.
Good plan on the cinema. Have you got any soft play places near you so you can sit and have a hot chocolate while dd mixes with the other children? I love those places!!
We are off to London today for the weekend, so will be off line until tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend and catch up tomorrow.
xx

CaptainDippy · 04/11/2006 09:09

Can't wait til mine are old enough to take to the cinema or to one of those soft play places and they will go off and entertain themselves!! Hope your w/e goes ok, emmy - pretty exhausting for you hun! [hugs]

DD's are pretty fiesty this morning, glad daddy's around to jump on!!

CaptainDippy · 04/11/2006 09:10

Enjoy London SOL!!

Katy44 · 04/11/2006 09:11

Morning everyone, hope you all enjoy your weekends!

muminamini · 04/11/2006 09:28

Morning all

CD - Love that T-shirt and brilliant news about the poo!!! :-)
SOL - Hope you have a fab time in London.

I ended up getting up early this morning as I couldn't sleep for thinking about food and what I was going to make for our bonfire party tonight...I'm obsessed.

DS is driving me bonkers this morning with constant demands....I end up giving in to constant Lazytown just to get a moments peace!

Cornflakekid - I am very interested to hear about reusable cotton nappies as I would like to try them but there are so many different types - it's a bit daunting...I get confused with all this wrapper and actual nappy stuff. Can you tell me in lay mans terms the basics? If you don't mind...

A few months ago I picked upa leflet from our local council as they were doing a scheme that even included a laundering service but can I find the leaflet??? lol

Have a good day everyone

Great about your test results Bugmum.Hope you are feeling happier sexonlegs. It is difficult adjusting to dp's workin away if they have been at home regularly so don't be hard on yourself. My dp is away from today until next sat and he was away last week! The worst bit is he can have to go at the drop of a hat so it can be difficult to plan things.Wouldn't be sooo bad if he was paid squillions.
Love the t shirt.I wonder if they have one for the last stage saying 'No I Haven' Had It Yet!'
Have a lovely weekend ladies and Beans.

stressedlady · 04/11/2006 10:22

I used them for a while last time round MIAM, in simple terms there are lots of different types, I used wraps and booster inserts, a wrap which is essentially a nappy on it's own, with velcro flaps to hold it closed in the same way as disposables, then put booster pads which are extra padding, inside the wrap to increase absorbancy, and a disposable liner which holds the solids and you just flush away, leaving the nappy just wet and with the odd mark rather than covered in it! otherwise there are simple wraps that have the nappy inserts, these are supposed to last longer cos the outer wrap is just a waterproff bit, you don't have to wash it everytime, just the terry inserts, whereas the all-in-ones i used had to be washed every use.
Like i said, I didn't use them for long so CK can prob give you a better idea! I did get some money back off our local council tho, and we now have a Suffolk Real Nappy Network, with their own shop and advice sessions! it's great that it's finally getting easier to get the information.

muminamini · 04/11/2006 10:24

Cornflakekid - I've actually just taken the plunge and ordered a trial pack of reusable nappies from totsbots.

I decided to go and look at the user reviews on here and it was very helpful and the totsbots website was also excellent. I also found info on the laundering scheme that I had the leaflet about so that was good too!

I will try it on my DS at night so that I can see what I think of them before ordering loads of them for new baby and also I will know how to use them before the baby arrives....can just envisage the stress in the maternity unit of not knowing how to work the things!! I have to say the nappies look excellent and am looking forward to them coming to see for myself what they are like. I was surprised at the cost - cheaper than I expected compared to the cost of disposables...How many would you say you needed? Do they fall to bits after alot of washing or are they sturdy?

Thanks for you help

MIAMx

muminamini · 04/11/2006 10:26

Doobydoo

If they don't I think you can get them to make them with your own slogan!!

muminamini · 04/11/2006 10:29

Hi EllieK - thanks for that

I found all the different types quite confusing...I think I've just ordered the all in one type that have a warpper with it and some liners so I'll see how I go with that.

I have to say disposables are so easy but I would like to try and be a bit greener if I can and it actually looks like the reusable ones would be cheaper in the long run which if they work well will be a big boost for me!

Bugmum · 04/11/2006 11:15

Oh dear - having been so greedy this week, I was sick as a dog in the night. Not an unexpected return of the ms, I'm sure, but mild food poisoning or something just not agreeing with me. Always a price to pay for pleasure...

stressedlady · 04/11/2006 11:15

they do work out cheaper, but it's that initial outlay that scared me! tho buying a couple a month before april wouldn't be so bad! just make sure they're the right size!
I think they recommend about 20 for a newborn, depends if you have a tumble dryer cos otherwise you've got to have more to allow for drying time

liath · 04/11/2006 11:17

Another cloth nappy addict here!

I use mother-ease one size and totsbots plus mother-ease wraps. They seemed the simplest and had good reviews - I have NEVER had a poo leak with them!!!! I'll reuse them all for this baby so save more money . I reckon you need 12-14 nappies.

Totsbots are great AND made in Scotland [patriotic emoticon].

stressedlady · 04/11/2006 11:18

aah, but Bugmum, wasn't the pleasure soooo worth it!
