CLOTH NAPPIES - look at this

pesha · 07/11/2006 22:30

Ellie im glad things are feeling better for you, i know what you mean about being better on your own. I find if im on my own i get strong and i can cope but if Im with someone i can get dragged down by them and the arguing and being hurt. Things were very up and down with my xp (dd's dad) and there were times i couldnt stand him and then other times when i could (find it hard now to remember that i loved him but guess i must have!). Hope everything goes ok for you and you can work things out for the best, whatever that may be for you.

I am having a crappy very stressed and annoyed by everything day so going to have a rant even though i know its all nothing but i still need a rant!! Saw midwife today for 16 wk check. She had come from hospital as surgery mw was at a homebirth and seemed like she couldnt wait to get out of there. Heard heartbeat for all of 5 seconds; she got my dates wrong said im 16+1 when I know im 16+4, im due on same day as MIAM; took no real interest in me having lots of back and pelvis pain just said something about there being bugs around causing joint pain; she was about to send me home so I asked her about the blood tests and she said oh yeah you can have that if you want and I dont know what she's done but my arm is bloody killing me where she took blood. When changing the tubes she said 'your veins are really strange blood stops coming and then tiny move of my hand and it starts again' then she takes the tourniquet (sp) off and then it was when she took needle out that it really hurt. Bloody stupid cow

Sorry I know in the scheme of things thats nothing but hormones raging at the moment!! Was looking for birthday cards for dd on friday and tears came to my eyes reading some overly sentimental crappy poem to my wonderful daughter!
Still dd wanted a flat coated retriever cake for her bday and they're all black so had to make a cake with melted plain choc spread over the chocolate icing on the chocolate cake and now having to force myself to eat huge slices as its not good for young children to eat too much chocolate! Speaking of which she got a bag of goodies from her friend with a bag, jewellery etc but there was a small box of lindor chocolate balls in it She's 6 ffs! Its wasted on her, thats grown up chocolate! Am very tempted to replace it with a tube of smarties or something but dont think id get away with it

Oh and it was me brought up somerset meet up but am far too scatty to organise anything But could travel to taunton or shepton or bath at a push if people want although I dont know any of those places well enough to recommend anywhere but could probably ask around. I also dont mind if its with or without children but would depend on times and days as to what i could do and dd is in school so that would limit me. Ooh baby just woke up and doesnt like me sitting forward to type!! Better get on, going to start thread to ask if people think i should tell people im pg when applying for jobs, new deal advisor pretty much said not to but im not so sure. Gosh might be a bit late now. I came on mn at 9 but seem to have spent an hour and a half catching up on this thread!

EllieK · 07/11/2006 22:37

it does take forever to catch up pesha!
you're not obliged to tell them but if you don't it will make it VERY awkward when you start and then have to tell them only weeks later
If you go armed with all the info and explain that they wouldn't be responsible for paying your mat leave they might be willing to take you on? or you could just look for short-term work, my contract ends in jan so i'll start mat leave when it finishes.

Morning everyone,
EllieK, sorry to hear your news, glad it sounds as though it's the best thing and things are more settled.
Well I'm off Christmas shopping - what are the chances it won't be busy? Wish me luck!

CornflakeKid · 08/11/2006 08:03

Morning all - Pesha/EllieK hope you are okay and have a nice day today.

Does anyone elses baby hurt their tummy when they move - think have a bony baby!

Shouldn't have eaten the french fancies yesterday - triggered my IBS which normally manage to avoid happening - but forgot processed cake irritates it - spent 2 hours in agony - then found some fybogel - combined with nice hot bath - managed to get rid of it. So pianful - am concerned my idea of having a more natural birth very unlikely - not good with pain!

EllieK that is a good idea re the trial service - also check out your local council - I know our council has a free loan service.

Must get dressed or will be late for school!

Katy44 · 08/11/2006 08:43

still can't feel my baby move.
Have tried encouragement and bribery, but he/she is still resisting

geordiemacminx · 08/11/2006 09:09

Nope me neither... although still get occasional stitchy type pains...

Did anyone else watch trinny and susannah and the pride of britain awards.... I CRIED LIKE A BABY ALL THE WAY THROUGH!!!

runnyhabbit · 08/11/2006 09:16

Morning everyone

1b3 - You have my total sympathies with feeling so rubbish. I had pneumonia at 27 wks with ds. Very scary, because at first they though it was a clot. Ds was absolutley fine throughout the pregnancy - it was just me! Learnt the hard way though, and now if I'm feeling just the tiniest bit under the weather, I'm on the phone to gp/mw/my sister(who works in a pharmacy) to get some advice.

Hope everyone is starting to feel a bit better. Emotions ran high last night when I watched Pride of Britain awards. Even dh was filling up at the little boy called Ollie, who'd had over 120 operations on his skull. Made us both realise that we are very very lucky.

Btw - Topshop have got some nice t-shirts/tops in, with plenty of room here - tops
I got the blue empire top and it fits really well, even over the bump!

18+1 today

Morning all. EllieK, sorry to hear your dp has moved out, although you do sound very calm about it all. I hope whatever happens you are happy.
V jealous of your xmas shopping trip Katy - I need to put dd in for an extra session at preschool so I can get on with it. Cannot bear shopping at the weekends!
I am feeling what feels like butterfly wings every now and the, but I am also have stitchy type pains like GMM. Also, my pubic bone area hurts sometimes when I get up from sitting down - is anyone else getting that?
Anyway, heading out with dd in a mo - need to get her a new swimming costume - but of course as its winter, no-one goes swimming (yeh right!), so having trouble finding her one!
Have a lovely day all. xx

Bramshott · 08/11/2006 09:58

Morning!

Just to say that I'd be on for a Southampton or similar meetup, although agree that maybe after Christmas could be best.

Had great news last night that a friend who I haven't seen for ages is also PG and due 22 March. Our first DDs are the same again (although she also has one in between), but now very excited that I have someone to meet up with in the early days and moan about lack of sleep, sore nipples etc etc .

I'm not sure if I've definitely felt the baby move yet, although when I went to the clinic last time they said that my placenta was in front of it which aparently makes it more difficult. I really want to feel it move though, but think sadly that all the rumblings are just my digestion!!

1b3 - sorry to hear you've been so run down. Hope you can take care of yourself a bit now and your DH continues to take good care of you too.

Bramshott · 08/11/2006 09:59

SOL - try the leisure centre? They always have swimsuits for sale in the foyer at ours.

OP posts:
runnyhabbit · 08/11/2006 10:01

SOL - I get that too, but I'm sure mine is SPD (symphis pubic disorder/discomfort) as I had it with ds. Is it worse when you've been in one position for too long? If it carries on, mention it your mw, although not a lot of mw seem to know much about SPD (I ended up telling them the symptoms last time!)

twinkle183 · 08/11/2006 10:19

Morning everyone!!! Feeling so much better.. thanks

EllieK its funny how it works out last time I was pg I was on my own - I coped much better last time as I had no one to worry about myself!!! I am much more tearful and snappy this time and the slightest thing that dh does winds me up... he has gone away for three weeks so should be able to unwind while hes away!!!! I do hope it works out for you better, my thoughts are with you...

geordiemacminx - I have to admit that I did and cried my eyes out but feel lots better today...

Thanks for everyones well wishes!!! I still have no bump - I really want one..

I agree that little boy called Ollie just made realise how lucky we are with ds! We have had our accidents but everytime we have just made the best of it!

Hope everyone feels better soon!!!

mammyjo · 08/11/2006 10:35

Morning all! Thanks for the welcome back GGF, am feeling much brighter this week so hoping it will continue!!

MIAM, I dont think a c section can completely eradicate the risk of gbs. I did ask about that due to my problems last time, the staff at the group b strep support place told me that antibiotics are deemed to be just as effective during labour in preventing the cross over of infection. My ds did get it from coming down the birth canal though and that is the most common way I think.

Pesha, hope you are feeling better after your rant!! Some midwives you meet are just useless and yet others can be fab - suppose its the same in all jobs really.

SOL, I am getting the pain on standing too, sometimes to the point that I am doubled over because I cant straighten up immediately. It seems to vary though with some days worse than others. With regard to the swimsuit just try some sport shops. I got ds two pairs of trunks on the weekend ready for our center parcs trip in December. So excited to be going - its my Christmas pressie off my parents. How thoughtful is that for a gift!!

1b3, really hope you are feeling a little better now. Take it easy xxx

Ange G, hows your ds? Have you been using anything to try and stop the scratching? Hope he is getting better.

Liath, I didnt see the pandemic flu programme but have read lots of info about it as we get it via work. (I am a nurse in the NHS and they have got all sorts of plans in case it happens). It makes for really scary reading so I can imagine the show was really unnerving!

EllieK, glad you are feeling happier about your dp moving out. You go girl!!

Apologies for those I didnt mention. This thread gets so big in a matter of a few hours and I do struggle to keep up with it.
Hope we all have a good day xxxxxxxx

charlii13 · 08/11/2006 10:36

mammyjo · 08/11/2006 10:37

Morning Twinkle, glad you are feeling better. Only just read your post, it must have taken me ages to type mine out. Then again it is a bit long winded!!

CaptainDippy · 08/11/2006 10:37

Morning - Feeling v.snowed under with chores / jobs etc so have had a quick catch up - having problems keeping up atm - Soooo tired in the evenings - feel like a right old lady!!!

So about your lack of PIL twinkle, that is very I feel wrong to moan about mine now - they are driving me completely barmy though - ARGH!!!! Btw, Evelyn Catherine is a gorgeous name honey!

Oooooh, I am soooo intrigued about your RL name now nuttygirl!

EllieK - Gosh! I am sorry about your DP moving out - how are you doing? I guess it is for the best in the long run if things were not working out well - not a great environment to bring a little one into the world, eh!!? [hugs] to you honey - I know it is unlikely, but if there's anything I can do, just shout....

I am very much up for a Southampton Meet Up too - it is not too far on the train - when is good for people - a weekend, I guess as people are working etc - would it be with or without LO's?? Mmmmmmm, sounds good .....

Soooooo much to dooooooo .........

muminamini · 08/11/2006 11:08

I can't stop eating this morning! I've just troughed 2 packets of pickled onion monster munch and am on my second cookie (the yummy chocolate buttons ones from Tesco) - I'm possessed this morning (have been so good all week too!) GRR

Welcome to charlii and hug to Ellie K - well done for doing what you felt needed to be done...so many would have struggled on and been miserable - I applaud your courage, you take care of yourself.

Hope those who have been feeling less than 100% are feeling a bit brighter.Really can't be bothered to go to work this afternoon...

Re the SPD pain... I did far too much cleaning etc yesterday and then last night was in agony in the pubic area every time I got up - couldbarely stand up....sounds like what you have been decribing....best take it a bit easier I think!

Catch you all later

MIAM 16 +5x

AngeG · 08/11/2006 11:13

Morning all

Welcome charlii. We are all a friendly bunch here.

Mammyjo DS getting better thanks. Got eurax lotion from the chemist - which smells foul but seems to stop the itching, haven't seen him scratching too much. He's not poorly in himself now, which in a way is good , but also bad because he is so bored and wants to go back to pre-school.

Wow a dissertation, that's hard work don't think I could concentrate on something like that at the moment. Well done you.

CD - glad you're up for a Southampton meet up. Have to arrange something for the new year.

Twinkle - glad your feeling better. I still don't have much of a bump, can't fit in my old clothes because they are uncomfortable, but maternity stuff too big. Can still see my feet

Bit today was supposed to be picking up my new car and '55' plate renault scenic but the garage has just phoned to say they haven't got the registration document so can't tax it. I could have cried on the phone but managed to hold it in. I was so looking forward to collecting it. Stupid pregancy hormones. Hopefully it will be there tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a good day.
